'Down And Out' | Love Sport Radio

Host Charlie Hawkins was joined by Ricky Sacks and Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur as the Last Word On Spurs returned to Love Sport Radio for this week's #SpursFansShow. The German club - who were only formed 10 years ago - led 1-0 from the first leg in London and Marcel Sabitzer's double at the Red Bull Arena put Leipzig in control. Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris should have done better for both goals - getting a hand to both the Leipzig captain's 20-yard shot and near-post header. Emil Forsberg scored with his first touch after coming off the bench to give Leipzig a 4-0 aggregate win. Injury-hit Spurs never looked capable of mounting a comeback like the one against Ajax last season which took them to the final and will now finish the season without a trophy again. Jose Mourinho's side - who have not won in six games in all competitions - will need to find some form if they are to be back in this tournament at all next season. They are seven points behind the top four in the Premier League. The team also previewed Man Utd to come back in the Premier League on Sunday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #UCL Learn more about your ad choices. 'Mour Trouble'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by debutant James Dickens along with returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Darren Altman and Talia Coren as the panel discussed Dele Alli's penalty earning Spurs a 1-1 draw at Burnley but a third winless game saw them miss the chance to cut the gap to the top four to two points. Spurs coming into the game on a run of four defeats in a row were perhaps fortunate to escape Turf Moor with a point after a lacklustre opening period during which the hosts deservedly took the lead through Chris Wood's goal after a Hugo Lloris fumble (13). Jose Mourinho made his feelings clear at the break by introducing Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura, and within five minutes of the restart they were level Alli converted from the spot after Ben Mee had caught Erik Lamela (50), netting his 50th Premier League goal in the process. Moments later Burnley were denied a penalty themselves when Davinson Sanchez barged into the back of Chris Wood and they missed a golden chance to restore their lead when substitute Matej Vydra shot straight at Lloris from close range. We also discussed Jose Mourinho's post-match comments on Tanguy Ndombele and previewed the club's Champions League last-sixteen second leg tie to come against RB Leipzig on Tuesday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS #UCL Learn more about your ad choices. 'A Dark Day' | Love Sport Radio

Host Charlie Hawkins was joined by Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen from the Last Word On Spurs and Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as the panel returned to Love Sport Radio. Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup on penalties by Norwich after missing three spot-kicks in the shootout, losing 3-2 after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Spurs looked in full control of the tie when Jan Vertonghen (13) showed great determination to head home following a Giovani Lo Celso set piece. However, roared on by 9,000 visiting fans, Norwich took advantage of Tottenham's lack of urgency in the second half and equalised when Michel Vorm - who was making his first start since 2018 - fumbled a Kenny McLean effort and Josip Drmic bundled home to take the game to extra-time. Both teams looked tired in the extra minutes, so penalties were needed to separate them. When McLean missed Norwich's first penalty, Spurs were odds-on to progress but some woeful spot-kicks from Troy Parrott, Erik Lamela and Gedson Fernandes meant visiting Tim Krul was the hero for the visitors. To compound matters for Spurs, there were ugly scenes at full-time as Eric Dier entered the stands and was seen clashing with a supporter, who was having an altercation with Dier's brother, according to Jose Mourinho. The panel also previewed Burnley to come in the Premier League on Saturday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Disastrous Defending'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Antony Costa, Jonny Blain and Habibullah Khan as the panel reflected on the defeat to Wolves in the Premier League as Raul Jimenez scored a smart winner as Wolves recovered to move above Tottenham in the Premier League and boost their hopes of earning a Champions League spot. Nuno Espirito Santo's side trailed twice in north London before Jimenez latched on to Diogo Jota's pass to finish with his left foot. Spurs first led when Steven Bergwijn poked in and then from Serge Aurier's curling effort before the break. But Matt Doherty and Jota combined to bring Wolves level on both occasions. The panel also previewed Spurs' huge season-defining game it feels in the FA Cup against Norwich City on Wednesday. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Spurs Fall Short'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Ricky J Norwood, Emma Storey and George Achillea as we discussed the performance and result against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge along with a long-heated debate on Jose Mourinho's style of play. Chelsea struck a significant blow in the fight for the top four places in the Premier League with a fully deserved victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. In a confrontation billed as a battle between Frank Lampard and his old mentor Jose Mourinho, Spurs could have leapfrogged Chelsea with victory but were outplayed and are now adrift by four points. Spurs' day could have been even worse as Giovani lo Celso should have been sent off for a dreadful second-half challenge on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta. The video assistant referee decided against punishment, although officials in Stockley Park later admitted a mistake had been made and he should have been sent off. Mourinho's side gave themselves late hope when Erik Lamela's shot deflected in off Antonio Rudiger but in reality Spurs deserved nothing and Chelsea were worthy winners. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Son Rescues Spurs'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by returning guest to the Last Word On Spurs in Abbi Summers along with Cenk from the Spurs Web and Spurs YouTuber Max Sloakes to discuss Tottenham Hotspur's last-minute victory against Aston Villa. This was not what Tottenham Hotspur expected when they appointed Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is 20 games into his tenure and already four of them have now finished 3-2 after Son Heung-min condemned Aston Villa to defeat in injury time in the final act of a frantic, frenetic game. Son’s strike was the match’s 41st shot, gaining Tottenham a win they may think they merited for a second-half onslaught where Pepe Reina, a man who frustrated Mourinho in a Champions League semi-final 13 years ago, seemed to be repeating the feat with a hat-trick of saves from the South Korean. The panel also previewed Spurs' Champions League last-sixteen first leg to come against RB Leipzig. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #UCL #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Clive Allen - Feature Show'

Host Ricky Sacks and Jason McGovern had the pleasure of being joined by Tottenham Hotspur legend Clive Allen. Clive Allen is one of the finest goalscorers of his generation but arguably his biggest battle has been to prove himself the best in his own family. His remarkable 49-goal haul for Tottenham in the 1986-87 season still stands as a club-record which earned him the rare dual honour of Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year and Football Writers Association Player of the Year in addition to the First Division Golden Boot. That stunning achievement is the apotheosis of a career which began at Queens Park Rangers before becoming English footballs first million-pound teenager when signing for Arsenal in 1980. Yet, in one of the most mysterious transfers of modern times, Clive was sold to Crystal Palace without playing a game and went on to represent eight more clubs including a year in France with Bordeaux before a brief stint as an NFL kicker for the London Monarchs. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Bergwijn's Beauty'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Troy Townsend, Richard Cracknell and Talia Coren, as we returned to discuss Tottenham Hotspur giving their top four hopes a huge boost with a stirring home victory over a disjointed Manchester City. In a first half steeped in controversy, Spurs were calling for an early red card for Raheem Sterling following a stamp on the ankle of England teammate Dele Alli, for which he was eventually only booked. City were then awarded a penalty when Serge Aurier fouled Sergio Aguero, only for Ilkay Gundogan to see his effort from 12 yards saved by Hugo Lloris after a lengthy wait to award the spot-kick while play continued. City's Oleksandr Zinchenko was sent off for a second bookable offence in the second period, and shortly afterwards Spurs took control as debutant Steven Bergwijn drove home a fine effort from the edge of the box. Son Heung-min added a second eight minutes later when his low effort beat Ederson, as the hosts moved up to fifth, and four points outside of the Champions League places. We also previewed Southampton to come in the FA Cup replay and what kind of team Jose Mourinho will select. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Lo Celso's Magic'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen along with Richard White MBE and Jamie Weir from Sky Sports as we reviewed the FA Cup draw against Southampton. Sofiane Boufal's late equaliser gave Southampton a fully-deserved FA Cup fourth-round replay against Tottenham after an entertaining encounter. Saints' manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and Spurs counterpart Jose Mourinho made FA Cup statements of intent by selecting strong line-ups - and their teams delivered a game high on quality, chances and passion. Spurs looked on their way into the fifth round just before the hour, when Son Heung-min crowned a superb break with a low finish from the excellent Giovani lo Celso's pass. Southampton, however, had a succession of chances to equalise, with man of the moment Danny Ings having a rare off day in front of goal and squandering several opportunities. Ings never let his head drop for a second and his tireless approach was rewarded when he set up Boufal for a thumping finish high past Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris with three minutes left. We also discussed Steven Bergwijn still expecting to complete a transfer worth around €30M to Spurs during the upcoming week despite the commotion around his PSV departure. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM#HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Tanganga's Promise'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern, Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur and debutant to the Last Word On Spurs in Anthoulla as we reviewed the narrow defeat to Liverpool. Tottenham pushed them all the way and it might have been a different story had Son Heung-min or the substitute Giovani Lo Celso not fluffed their lines when wonderfully placed in the closing stages. The Lo Celso chance led José Mourinho to sink to his knees in disbelief. How had the midfielder missed the target when he had so much of it to aim for from Serge Aurier’s cross? Spurs had entered the game in poor form and with a clutch of debilitating injuries, including the high-profile one to Harry Kane. They tried everything in tactical terms, they gave everything on a physical level and Mourinho was on solid ground when he argued that his team deserved something. We also previewed Middlesbrough to come on Tuesday back in the FA Cup along with having a guess at what both the attendance and the result will be. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Trouble On Teeside'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen, John from Lilywhite Rose and debutant Hugo for this Last Word On Spurs as we discussed Lucas Moura rescuing a replay for Spurs after Ashley Fletcher struck opener for Championship side in FA Cup third round clash. More misery was piled on Jose Mourinho as Tottenham failed to beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Spurs have been left with an unwanted replay and another fixture on an already-stacked calendar. Lucas Moura's second half header levelled the game shortly after Ashley Fletcher caught the Spurs back line napping. It leaves Mourinho again with more questions about his side than answers, as pressure starts ramping up on him and his ability to get the more out of the squad that let Mauricio Pochettino down earlier this season. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #FACup #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Identity Crisis'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and returning guests to the Last Word On Spurs in Dan from YidVids and Ashley Watts as a brilliant goal from Danny Ings gave Southampton a narrow but deserved win over Jose Mourinho's Tottenham. The Saints striker flicked the ball superbly over Toby Alderweireld before shooting past Paulo Gazzaniga for his ninth goal in his past 10 games. Spurs were unimpressive, with Jan Vertonghen missing their best chance from close range in the first half. Mourinho, who was booked late on, sees his team stay sixth in the table, while Southampton rise to 11th. Spurs striker Harry Kane was forced off with a leg injury just seconds after having a goal disallowed for offside in the second half. The panel also previewed the FA Cup tie to come at the weekend away at Middlesbrough along with discussing the type of side that Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho may look to pick. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Defensive Deficiencies'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur and John from Lilywhite Rose as the panel returned to review to the 2-2 draw against bottom of the table Norwich City. Harry Kane struck a late penalty to earn Tottenham a point at Carrow Road and deny Norwich a first Premier League victory in seven matches. Mario Vrancic opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal for the Canaries before they were denied a second when Teemu Pukki's goal was ruled out for a marginal offside by the video assistant referee (VAR). Spurs improved after the interval and Christian Eriksen drew them level with a stunning free-kick but Norwich retook the lead when Serge Aurier put through his own net. The visitors had their chances and Dele Alli's neat finish was ruled out for offside, before Kane drew Christoph Zimmermann into a lunging challenge inside the area. The England striker sent Tim Krul the wrong way from the spot to secure a point for the north London side. The panel also look ahead to Southampton to come on New Years Day in the Premier League. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Dele's Christmas Cracker

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Lee McQueen as Last Word On Spurs reviewed Tottenham renewed their pursuit of a place in the Premier League top four as they came from behind to beat Brighton. The result lifts Spurs up to fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who lost 2-0 at home to Southampton later on Thursday. Adam Webster had given the visitors a richly deserved lead, heading in from Pascal Gross' right-wing delivery towards the end of the first half. However, Spurs, who played at a pedestrian pace during the first period, raised their tempo after the interval to fight back. Harry Kane levelled matters with a right-foot shot into the bottom left corner after Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan had brilliantly parried his first effort and Dele Alli's sublime lobbed finish then found the top left corner to complete the turnaround. 'Toby Re-Signs'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract. The 30-year-old, who was due to be a free agent in the summer, has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half-year deal at the north London club. Alderweireld looked set to be leaving Spurs at the end of the current campaign as negotiations over a new deal had stalled and under Mauricio Pochettino there appeared to be little chance of them restarting. But the arrival of Jose Mourinho has brought about a change and the Belgium international will now stay until 2023. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Steve Perryman: A Spur Forever

Host Ricky Sacks and Jason McGovern were joined by Tottenham Hotspur legend Steve Perryman in a feature-length podcast. It is rare in modern football that a player becomes synonymous with a club, but through the 70s and 80s Steve Perryman was the heart and soul of Tottenham Hotspur. Loyal, loved by the fans and trusted by his managers and players, the Spurs Captain became the club's record appearance maker, won two UEFA cups, two FA Cups, and two League cups. In doing so he endeared himself to a generation of fans as the leader and face of a club that, while not always successful, was always entertaining and gave its all on the pitch. In this new autobiography, Steve recalls his time at Tottenham, the players he shared the dressing room with, the managers he learnt from (including the great Bill Nicholson) and the colourful adversaries he squared up to on the pitch. He also tells of his time in management, including his spell working with Ossie Ardiles at Spurs under the chairmanship of the controversial Alan Sugar, and his successful period in Japan where he won the league Championship. As honest and uncompromising in his book as he was as a player, A Spur Forever is a must-read for all football fans who recall fondly the era of muddy pitches and approachable players. The book includes a wonderful foreword by Glenn Hoddle and is printed in full colour throughout its 304 pages and includes a wealth of memorabilia from Steve's career and over 150 photographs to help illustrate the text. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices.
