'Spurs Stung By Hornets'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Jason McGovern, as the Last Word On Spurs returned. Tottenham finished their pre-season with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to recently-relegated Championship side Watford. With just eight days until Jose Mourinho begins his first full campaign at Tottenham at home to Everton, goals from Andre Gray and Domingo Quina gave Watford a half-time lead, with a late Heung-min Son penalty not enough to avoid a first pre-season defeat. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LOWS Learn more about your ad choices. All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur - Episodes 1-3 Review

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, John from Lilywhite Rose and Chris Cowlin, as the Last Word On Spurs return with Amazon Prime's eagerly-anticipated 'Tottenham: All or Nothing' documentary has finally been released, with the first three episodes out today. The series documenting Spurs' eventful 2019/20 season on and off the pitch was known to be coming out at some stage this summer, with numerous taster clips over recent months giving fans a glimpse of what is in store. Tottenham confirmed a start date of August 31 - a little under a fortnight before the 2020-21 Premier League season is due to get under way on September 12. Tottenham: All or Nothing will give a behind-the-scenes look at a tumultuous campaign, which saw Mauricio Pochettino - who led the team to a Champions League Final last May - sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho in November. Mourinho had to deal with key injuries to the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son before the coronavirus pandemic that caused the three-month shutdown of English football in March. Sitting 14th when Pochettino was relieved of his duties, Tottenham eventually finished sixth, leapfrogging Wolves on the final and qualifying for the Europa League courtesy of an upturn in results. Manchester City became the first Premier League club to take part in Amazon's All or Nothing docuseries - produced by 72 Films in collaboration with NFL Films - in 2018. The Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys are among the franchises to have taken part in the flagship NFL version, while the show has also branched into rugby union with All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks, also released in 2018. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS #AllOrNothingSpurs Learn more about your ad choices. 'Doherty Signs' | Bonus Podcast!

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, Chris Cowlin and Dave from the Wolves View channel on Youtube as Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The full-back has signed a contract until 2024 and will wear the number two shirt. Doherty, 28, initially moved to Wolves from League of Ireland side Bohemians in July, 2010. He has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the Molineux side in all competitions and was part of two promotions as the team climbed from League One to the Premier League, as well as qualifying for the Europa League in their first season back in the top flight. A consistent performer, Doherty has missed just seven league matches in the last four seasons. He has featured in 95 games in all competitions since Wolves returned to the Premier League in 2018, contributing 15 goals and 15 assists in that time. Born in Dublin, Doherty has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 levels and won the first of nine senior caps in 2018. He will now join up with his national team ahead of their UEFA Nations League games away to Bulgaria and at home to Finland next week before returning to Hotspur Way to train with the rest of the squad ahead of our opening match of the season against Everton. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Bergwijn’s Solo Show'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Chris Cowlin on this edition of the Last Word On Spurs. A last-gasp Steven Bergwijn stunner secured a second Tottenham pre-season win in as many days with a 1-0 victory over Championship side Birmingham. With Birmingham happy to sit deep, it took Tottenham until the 89th minute to finally break the deadlock as the second half substitute Bergwijn undid all of Birmingham's hard work with an emphatic strike. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. 'Sonny's Goal Glut'

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose as the Last Word On Spurs reviewed the 4-1 friendly win against Reading at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Son Heung-min marked his fifth anniversary at Tottenham with a goal in a 4-1 friendly win over Reading. The South Korean signed for Spurs on this day in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen and continued to look in good shape ahead of the new campaign, with his side brushing aside their Championship opposition. Son was on the scoresheet in the first half along with Dele Alli and an own goal, with Erik Lamela adding a fourth after the break. George Puscas scored a late penalty for Reading. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

'Tottenham Hotspur - Behind The Finances'

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee MvQueen and special guest to this week's Last Word On Spurs in Football Finance's Kieran Maguire. Levy is one of the most powerful men in English football, as well as one of the most private. He has run Tottenham with forensic control for almost 20 years now, transforming them from one of the mid-table pack into an example of how a modern self-sufficient football club should work. But among Tottenham fans, Levy is not universally popular. The team has only won one League Cup during his tenure, although they did come close to greatness under Mauricio Pochettino, finishing as Premier League runners up in 2017 and reaching the Champions League final in 2019. But their greatest manager since Bill Nicholson was sacked last year and stickers saying “ENIC OUT: PROFIT OVER GLORY” are not an uncommon sight around the club’s newly-built stadium. We discuss the finances behind Tottenham Hotspur and leave it up to the audience to decide what you feel about the club's finances. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Paul Stewart - Special

Host Ricky Sacks and Jason McGovern had the pleasure of being joined by former Tottenham Hotspur player Paul Stewart on this week's Last Word On Spurs. As a young lad growing up on a Manchester council estate, all Paul Stewart dreamed of was making it as a professional footballer. It was a dream that would lead him into a nightmare of sexual and physical abuse from which he has still not recovered. Stewart was abused every day for four years by his junior football coach. He suffered in silence and embarked on a successful career that saw him play for Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Sunderland, scoring in an FA Cup final and winning caps for England. Behind it all, he was a broken man many times he wished he could end his life. He turned to drink and drugs as a way of coping with his devastating secret. In 2016, Stewart was sitting at his office desk one morning when he read a Daily Mirror story about a footballer who had been abused. His world was about to change. Paul Stalteri - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John Wenham from Lilywhite Rose and Tottenham Hotspur Paul Stalteri on this week's Last Word On Spurs. After being offered a scholarship at Clemson University in South Carolina, Paul left Canada to pursue his soccer career. Paul played one year for the soccer program at Clemson while maintaining a full academic schedule as well. He decided not to return to Clemson for a second year, and opted to stay in Toronto. He signed a three year deal with the Toronto Lynx, and enrolled at York Univeristy. He played one season with the Toronto Lynx and was seen by a scout from Werder Bremen. He was bought by Werder Bremen from the Toronto Lynx in November 1997. He played with the clubs reserves from 1997 until 2000. In August 2000 Paul made his debut with the Bundesliga team in the first game of the season against Cottbus. Playing against Canadian team mate Kevin McKenna, both were the first Canadians to ever see action in the top German league. Paul went on to score in this game, making him the first ever Canadian to score in the Bundesliga. His success continued on in the Bundesliga when Werder Bremen was crowned Bundesliga Champions and German Cup winners in 2003/2004. He is the only Canadian international to ever win the Bundesliga title. To win the double, both the league title and the cup in that history making season makes that feat all the more impressive. He remained in Bremen for one more season and played his first Champions League game in September 2004 against Inter Milan. At the end of the 2004/2005 season he made the decision to leave the Bundesliga and signed a four year contract with Tottenham Hotspur FC. Tell most fans it was over 10 years ago and they can't quite believe it. In fact, even the hero of the night responded by saying 'wow, really?' It's a night Spurs fans, certainly those present will never forget - that night at Upton Park in March 2007. That night where we came from 2-0 down to level at 2-2, only to go behind again five minutes from time. That night where Dimitar Berbatov curled home an exquisite free-kick to level again at 3-3 on 89 minutes. That night where Paul Stalteri - yes, full-back Paul Stalteri - found himself with an open goal to pop home the winner in injury time. Now coaching Canada's Under-17s, Paul was more than happy to look back with his over his career and what it was like to play for Spurs. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Ricardo Rocha - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur and former Spurs player Ricardo Rocha on this week's Last Word On Spurs. Ricardo carried with him an uncompromising reputation from his time at former club Benfica that suggested he was no stranger to the physical combat that is not uncommon, particularly in cup football, within these shores. So it was perhaps to be expected that the 28-year-old was pretty much unfazed by the flailing arm that caused his welcome wound. With injuries hitting Ledley King regularly, Spurs sought to buy an experienced central defender, but when some of their targets were snapped up by other clubs, they turned to Portugal, where Ricardo Rocha had been playing at Champions League level with Benfica. His career started playing for a local club Famalicano, who spotted him as a youngster, before the bigger side in the area - SC Braga - bought him. His rise was fairly rapid, as he was only there for two years before his reputation as a good man-marker was noted by top side Benfica, who took him to the Stadium of Light. Ricardo spent four and a half years at Benfica, playing over 150 games for the club including over 30 in European competitions, but the bid of £3.3 million from Spurs, plus the promise of the takings from two friendlies between the two clubs tempted them to part with the man who has represented his country on a number of occasions. Coming into the Tottenham side, Rocha was required to play straight away and he showed good commitment and effort, while adjusting to the pace of the Premiership. He has a good jump and can shadow players well, but sometimes, he make makes errors, such as the one where he slipped when clearing the ball in the League Cup semi-final against Arsenal and presented them with a goal. Injuries had struck the Portuguese defender and restricted him having a run in the side, but his patience is important as Spurs suffer a number of injuries in that department of the squad. With a change of manager, Rocha dropped out of the Tottenham defence, but showed true professionalism by not complaining about not getting a game and bringing on the defensive players in the reserves where he played the most games of all the player since 2008-09. Rocha was released at the end of his contract at the start of June 2009 to find a new club, finding a new place to play at the end of the summer transfer window by signing for Belgian champions Standard Liege. Not settling in Belgium, Rocha was given a free transfer at the end of 2009 and moved back to the Premier League with cash-strapped Portsmouth, who were happy to sign him for free. He dad a nightmare first game, getting sent off in the first half against Sunderland, as he conceded a penalty and his part in the game was ended after just nine minutes. He would go on to be named man of the match in the FA Cup semi-final win over Spurs, but was part of the side that lost 0-1 to Chelsea in the final. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Kasey Keller - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller on this week's Last Word On Spurs show. Kasey Keller squeezed just about everything into a 22-year professional career. Over a century of caps and four World Cups for the USA, cutting his teeth at Millwall, glory days at Leicester, 83 consecutive starts at Spurs, the first American to play in La Liga and a title challenge with Rayo Valecano, only the second American to captain a Bundesliga side during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach before a hero's return home to Seattle, where he played until he was 41. He even lived in a castle during his time in Germany! As part of Martin O'Neill's golden spell at the old Filbert Street in the late 1990s, Kasey helped the Foxes lift their first trophy in 28 years - the League Cup in 1997 - and clinch three-successive top 10 finishes in the Premier League. He was also in goal for Leicester against is in the League Cup Final in 1999, won by Allan Nielsen's late, late diving header. Kasey later played in the final game at Filbert Street as a Spurs player in May, 2002 and then had a game he'll never forget in our first visit to the all-new Walkers Stadium, as it was then (now King Power Stadium) back in October, 2003. After two years in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, Keller returned to England with Tottenham in 2001. Signed as a back-up to Neil Sullivan, who at the time was the club’s player of the season, he took a while to establish himself at White Hart Lane and wasn’t helped by playing behind an often mediocre defence. Spurs fans retain grim memories of the 2003-04 season when Glenn Hoddle was sacked in September with the club in 17th place. Under caretaker David Pleat they stayed in the bottom half for almost the entire season and finished 14th. Through an unstable period, Keller was seen as sound and reliable, often making last-ditch blocks with legs and feet to bail out team-mates. At the age of 38 Keller finally made his MLS debut with Seattle Sounders where he stayed for the next two seasons before retiring. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Erik Edman - Special

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by John from LilyWhite Rose and former Spurs left-back Erik Edman on this week's edition of the Last Word On Spurs. When thinking about Erik Edman and his time at Tottenham Hotspur, there is just one moment that certainly stands out and with good reason. The former Sweden international may have only had one season at White Hart Lane, despite making himself a regular in the side, however, he certainly made himself memorable with those at the club. In April 2005, Edman hit a stunning strike from an extremely long distance, thought to be around 35 yards out, at Anfield against Liverpool that left Jerzy Dudek with no chance and saw the ball fly into the back of the net. The left-back, who in the music industry may be considered a one-hit wonder, certainly made his mark on Spurs, although his superb strike is not the only memorable one they have had when coming up against the Reds away from home. Despite Edman becoming a regular for Martin Jol’s side in his first season following his switch from Heerenveen, he decided to move on in the summer when Lee Young-Pyo was brought to the club. In truth, it probably would not have been a surprise as the Swede had a habit of moving from club to club after a season as prior to his move to the Premier League, he spent just two years at Helsingborgs IF in the first-team before one year spells at Torino, Karlsruher SC and AIK Athens and Heerenveen. He then appeared to settle down for a little while at Rennes after his Spurs move, staying with the French side for three years before returning to England with Wigan Athletic for a couple of seasons. Once his time there had come to an end, he returned to where it all started for him and finished his career with Helsingborgs in 2013, making 57 appearances for Sweden throughout his playing days. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. David Howells - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Tottenham Hotspur legend David Howells for this edition of the Last Word On Spurs. David came through the youth system and made his Spurs debut in 1986, scoring in a 2-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. He went on to play for the club 277 games and scoring 22 goals. David started his career as an attacking midfielder and matured into a holding midfielder. Teddy Sheringham once described David as a player`s player and was appreciated for his work rate more by his team mates than the fans in the stands. David would never pull out from anything where he might get hurt. I remember watching Spurs V Aston Villa just after the 1990 Italia world cup and scoring a header. Unfortunately, as a result of the challenge on David`s header, he ended up getting knocked out and ended up being carried off on a stretcher. Additional to his work rate, he was also had a bit of craft to his game. He could pass the ball well and every now and then he would produce a Hoddle type pass that would unlock the opposition defence. He made a massive contribution to us winning the 1991 FA cup and in many opinions he was the man of the match in the famous 1991 semi final against South London United. Although it was strongly touted at the time, David never went on to play for England. When Graham Taylor took over the England reigns many suggested that Howells would be one of players to win their first cap for England under the new regime. A few years later saw the dawn of the famous five under the stewardship of Ossie, It was the start of the 1994-95. Although we started playing some great attacking play we were somewhat very lightweight when it came to winning the battle in no mans land and as a result ended up losing a lot of games. Unfortunately, after only a couple of months into the season Ossie lost his job and Gerry Francis was replaced. During the exotic times of the famous five, David had been overlooked and one of the first changes that Francis made was to reinstate Howells in the midfield to add some steel. It made a massive difference and was one of the key factors to the successful start that Francis had made. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Tom Huddlestone - Special

Host Ricky Sacks and Jamie Brown from the Daily Hotspur had the pleasure of former Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone joining this week's Last Word On Spurs. Having signed from Derby County back in 2005, Tom Huddlestone proved himself to be an astute signing in his time at Tottenham. The midfielder ended up playing 209 times for Spurs, scoring 16 goals and providing a further 30 assists. A lot of Huddlestone’s goals weren’t your basic tap-ins or scruffy finishes. The four-cap England international had a penchant for scoring the spectacular, whether it was with his right or left foot. The midfielder gave Spurs fans a lot of memories with his long-range thunderbolts, and was of course part of the squad that featured in the Champions League Quarter-Finals during the 2010/2011 campaign. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Johnnie Jackson - Special

Johnnie Jackson began his career at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in 1999 before the player signed professional terms in 2000. The man who was born in Covent Garden ironically scored his only goal for Spurs in a 4-2 league win over Charlton in February 2004. Seven spells on loan at various clubs over a time period of eight years followed before the midfielder found his perfect match at Charlton in 2010. Johnnie signed for Charlton Athletic on a one-month loan to cover at left-back following an injury to Grant Basey before he joined Charlton permanently in July 2010 and was named the League One Player of the Month for November that year. He was appointed club captain for the 2011–12 campaign. In the same season, Johnnie scored 13 goals from left-midfield, two coming from free kicks in crucial 1–0 wins against both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United in quick succession as he led Charlton to the League One title. Promotion to the second tier of English football represented another challenge for Johnnie, but it was one he relished, scoring 12 goals and leading the team to an impressive 9th place finish back in the Championship. Shortly after having his contract triggered for another 12 months at the end of the 2016-17 season, Jackson was appointed as new first-team assitnt coach alongside Lee Bowyer. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Dean Austin - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and former Spurs defender Dean Austin as we interviewed another former Spurs player from that crazy 90's period. It is fair to say that Dean Austin isn’t a household name but the former defender was an important member of Tottenham Hotspur’s defence in the mid-nineties. After leaving Spurs in 1998 due to the emergence of Stephen Carr, Austin spent four seasons at Crystal Palace before finishing his career in 2003 with non-league side Woking. Upon retiring from playing, Austin went straight into coaching and spent a year with the youngsters at Watford’s academy before joining Farnborough Town as the club’s director of football. He was in the job for a matter of weeks before he was asked to take over the team as manager just two weeks before the start of the season. Unfortunately during Austin’s time at the club they endured a number of off-the-field problems and he left in February 2005. However, he wasn’t out of work for long and joined his former side Southend United in July 2005 as a coach and the club’s head of recruitment. He enjoyed three successful years at Roots Hall, helping the side to two successive promotions before leaving to join Brendan Rodgers as his assistant manager at Watford. Austin was on his travels once again in 2009 when Rodgers left Watford to join Reading but this appointment was short-lived and the entire management team left six months later. He then spent a year back at former side Crystal Palace as first team coach and under 21 manager and then a year at Bolton Wanderers as a regional scout before a very brief spell at Notts County as Chris Kiwomya‘s assistant manager. In January 2015 Austin re-joined Watford as head coach Slavisa Jokanovic’s assistant coach where he played an important role in getting them promoted to the Premier League. He stayed on at the club when Jokanovic left and spent the 2015-16 season working with Quique Sanchez Flores. He left in May 2016 upon the appointment of Italian manager Walter Mazzarri who brought in his own Italian backroom staff to assist him. Austin made a return to football in September 2017 when he joined Northampton Town as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink‘s assistant manager and ended up taking over first-team affairs on a caretaker basis when the Dutchman was sacked. Although unable to save The Cobblers from relegation, the Northampton board appointed Austin as permanent manager for the 2018/19 season but his tenure was short-lived and he was sacked at the end of September after winning just one game. A year later he made a return to Watford for the fourth time when he linked up once again with Quique Sanchez Flores as his assistant manager. Unfortunately his time at Vicarage Road came to and end in December 2019 when Flores and his backroom staff were sacked. #THC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Pascal Chimbonda - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jamie from the Daily Hotspur as the Last Word On Spurs had the pleasure of welcoming former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda onto the Last Word On Spurs. Described by one reputable news outlet in 2007 as ‘a Tottenham Hotspur player’, Pascal Chimbonda left his stamp all over the Premier League during the noughties. The fast and industrious right-back was bought by a number of managers between 2005 and 2011, and if you followed Premier League football during that period (particularly full backs) you are bound to know his name. In 2005, Paul Jewell brought Chimbonda to Wigan from Bastia, for a fee worth £500k. In today’s volatile transfer market, with clubs paying extortionate prices even for defenders, that number would probably be in the region of £600k. In his first season in England, his performances for Wigan earned him a place in Raymond Domenech’s World Cup squad. At the tournament, his contribution involved sitting still on the bench as his French teammates went all the way to the final. If you pause it at the right moment, you can see the top corner of Chimbonda’s head on the screen as a disgraced Zinedine Zidane trudges off following that red card against Italy. By the end of the 2005/06 season, ‘Powerful Pascal’ had also attracted attention from some of England’s top clubs, including Tottenham. In wonderfully tactless style, he decided to play all 90 minutes of his last match for Wigan with a written transfer request stuffed down his sock, which he presented to Jewell in the dressing room immediately after the game. Chimbonda has a feeling this might be why the former Wigan boss has not made much of an effort to remain in contact. But he got his way, and after the World Cup completed his £4.5m switch to Spurs. He hit the ground running in North London, earning praise from his manager Martin Jol, and maintaining a spot in the starting eleven despite competition from a player called Stephen Kelly. Spells at Sunderland, Blackburn and QPR followed for this Premier League classic, and it says a lot for Chimbonda’s undoubted ability that so many clubs continued to add him to their ranks. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Ramon Vega - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose as we welcomed former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega onto the Last Word On Spurs to talk about his career. Born to Spanish immigrants in the small town of Olten, around 66km west of Zurich in June 1971, Vega studied at degree level in banking and finance at the Zürich Business School after spending his formative years at school in Trimbach. Still, despite clearly being an academic, it was his athletic ability that would take precedence during his early life. Making his way through the youth ranks with Grasshopper Club Zürich, Vega became a first-team regular, as well as a frequent member of the Swiss international side under Roy Hodgson by the age 22. Beginning his professional club career back in 1989, it was in his second season with Grasshoppers that he became a lynchpin in their backline. Winning three titles with the club, he played 67 league games in the 1994-95 and 1995-96 campaigns as GC made it consecutive title wins. After impressing enough to earn a move to Caligari in 1997, Vega spent just seven months in Sardinia before Tottenham brought him over to London. Signed by Gerry Francis off the back of an impressive outing for Switzerland against England at Euro 1996, the former White Hart Lane chief went as far as to suggest he ‘could be our Tony Adams’ upon his arrival on Hotspur Way. Despite helping the club to a League Cup win in 1999, he failed to truly recover from a stress fracture in his ankle that season, although he did make a last-ditch tackle to prevent Emile Heskey from scoring in Wembley’s showpiece against Leicester City. Vega was loaned to Celtic in 2000 for the latter half of the first campaign of the millennium, where he’d help Martin O’Neill’s side win the treble, making 26 appearances for the Bhoys. After a short spell in Glasgow, fondly remembered for two goals against Aberdeen on his debut in a 6-0 drubbing of the Dons, he became Gianluca Vialli’s big signing in the ultimately doomed Watford revolution, before a short spell in France with minnows US Créteil, where he retired aged 33. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTPSUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices. Darren Anderton - Special

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern and Tottenham Hotspur legend Darren Anderton. Signed from Portsmouth in 1992, the midfielder went on to make 299 appearances for us in the Premier League in a 12-year career at the Lane - a figure yet to be toppled. He won the League Cup in 1999 and played 357 times for us in all competitions before departing for Birmingham City in 2004. Capped 30 times by England, Darren was a key member of Terry Venables’ team that took apart Holland on the way to the semi-finals of Euro 1996 - he set up Paul Gascoigne's iconic goal against Scotland - and then scored against Colombia in the 1998 World Cup Finals in France. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM #HOTSPUR #TOTTENHAMHOTSPUR #SPURS #LWOS Learn more about your ad choices.
