April 29, 2021--KZYX is pleased to broadcast the newest lecture in the Mendocino College Symposium Series: Caring Classrooms and Communities, Supporting Mendocino County Students' Mental Health Needs Now and Beyond the Pandemic by Vincent Poturica. Many Mendocino County students have been affected by trauma related to poverty, wildfires, racism, and other issues. Students' responses to trauma and subsequent mental health struggles have been amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic. The talk explores ways to provide more consistent support resources for students throughout the county.

On thie edition of the Ecology Hour on KZYX, guest host John Azzaro speaks with Mary Crowley, founding director of Ocean Voyages Institute dedicated to ocean cleanup and raising the awareness of the dangers of marine debris. John sailed with Mary and crew of marine scientists on a 150' tall ship to study first hand the world's largest toxic dump, the North Pacific Gyre.

April 19, 2021--Pomo Perspective features Priscilla Hunter, Pomo Elder and former Chairwoman of the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians, and Polly Girvin, Environmental activist and Indigenous Rights Attorney. The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo has recently requested Government to Government Consultation with the State of California to discuss their opposition to the timber operations proposed in their ancestral Northern Pomo and Coast Yuki territory which is now Jackson Demonstration State Forest. There are at least 22 cultural sites in the State Forest that have been identified, many of which have been destroyed by road building and other industrial activity. Currently 500 acres of mature second growth redwood are approved for logging by Cal Fire (the California Department of Forestry).

April 16, 2021--This week On Politics: A Love Story, Bob Bushansky speaks with Tsun Mei Cheng, widow of Uwe Reinhardt who authored “Priced Out - The Economic and Ethical Costs of American Health Care”. Tsun Mei worked closely with her husband, wrote the epilogue, and had the book published after his death. She is a Health Policy Research Analyst at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.

Dr. Barry and his team of scientists are discovering the fantastic ways life adapts to the total darkness and near-freezing temperatures, more than two miles below the surface.
