We conclude our review of bad television series Locke & Key trying to figure out how a show that sacrificed all the character development of its sources material for plottiness could end up feeling so thin, so confusing, so contrived. We also talk about the pros and cons of a six-hour cunnilingus session* and Netflix's mass yassification of 'nerd culture' IP. Once again Stephen King is in his detective bag for THE OUTSIDER, a truly bleak murder mystery that is head and shoulders above MR. MERCEDES and other similar offerings. Comparisons between the two are, in fact, hard to avoid, as both feature ace private investigator Holly Gibney (played by Cynthia Erivo here). This portrayal of Holly turns out to be one of several strong performances (Mare Winningham!!!!), which Dan and Rob agree is the show's strongsuit.
