Recent reporting makes clear that Donald Trump is proudly and enthusiastically lawless. Someone should tell Donald Trump "You know, you have the right to NOT incriminate yourself." In a recent town hall campaign event, Trump repeatedly said "We did not have guns (at the US Capitol) on January 6th". By choosing to describe the insurrectionists using the personal plural pronoun "we", Trump directly aligned himself with the folks who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6th, there by incriminating himself (as he so often does). Interestingly, that statement is actually an incriminating twofer, given that Trump lied about his angry mob not being armed with firearms on January 6th. Jim Jordan is STILL in criminal defiance of a subpoena. He violated a subpoena that sought his testimony about the democracy-busting crimes of Donald Trump. But Jordan chose to defy the subpoena and hide the evidence of Trump's crimes from Congress and, by extension, from the American people. The Supreme Court returned Trump's criminal case to DC Federal Court Judge Tanya Chutkan directing her to hold hearings to determine which of Trump's January 6th crimes involved official presidential acts and which did not. Trump's lawyers have filed a 34-page brief demanding that Judge Chutkan "dismiss" Trump's case "promptly." In other words, Trump's lawyers are urging the judge to disregard the directives of the Supreme Court and just toss Trump's case entirely, without conducting the litigation the Supreme Court directed her to conduct. Moreover, Trump's lawyers are demanding this prompt dismissal to " protect the integrity of the Presidency and the upcoming election, as well as the Constitutional rights of - the American people." A federal judge in Arizona has rejected Mark Meadows' attempt to have his criminal case moved from Arizona state court to federal court, ruling that the things Meadows did with, at the direction of, and for the benefit of Donald Trump in tying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election - didn't constitute part of his official duties as Trump's Chief of Staff. Rudy Giuliani has failed in court yet again - this time in spectacular fashion. Giuliani had filed a lawsuit claiming President Joe Biden had defamed him in a 2020 presidential debate. Donald Trump is being prosecuted for (among other things) lying to his supporters about stolen votes and rigged elections. The more JD Vance talks, the clearer it becomes that he's one of history's worst VP candidates. Special Counsel Jack Smith and Donald Trump's criminal defense attorneys have filed a joint scheduling proposal with Judge Tanya Chutkan regarding their respective suggestions on how to litigate the absolute immunity issue in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's ruling that a president's official acts might be immune from prosecution. Smith informed the judge that he is prepared to file a motion disclosing all of the "unpled" evidence and information of Trump's crimes, meaning evidence that was not disclosed in the first or second (superseding) indictments in Trump's election subversions case in DC. Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed his appeal of Judge Aileen Cannon's dismissal of Donald Trump's classified documents/obstruction of justice/espionage case, urging the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse her lawless ruling. Because Judge Cannon has been found to have abused her discretion and reversed twice previously, many were expecting Smith to FINALLY ask the appeals court to remove her from presiding over Trump's case. As we all know, Judge Aileen Cannon - who was appointed to the federal bench by Donald Trump - ruled that Special Counsel appointments are not lawful and she dismissed Trump's federal classified documents/obstruction of justice/espionage case. In a surprising plot twist, Hunter Biden's lawyers pointed to Judge Cannon's decision and tried to use it to convince another federal judge - Judge Mark Scarsi (who was also appointed by Trump) to dismiss the federal tax case pending against Hunter Biden.Judge Scarsi has rejected Judge Cannon's ruling and has refused to dismiss Hunter's case, clearly signaling that he thinks Judge Cannon is dead wrong.
