One of the most difficult life transitions someone can go through is letting go of a relationship and going through the process of a divorce. It’s a deeply personal journey, so we are extremely grateful that our dear friend Cathy Nguyen is joining us today to share how her experience with divorce has given her a new perspective on motherhood and self-love. Cathy has been on the ABG podcast before, but you may also recognize her from Wong Fu Productions’ “Strangers, Again” and “Strangers Never Again” series, or her social content featuring her incredible relationship with her daughter, Isla. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Coffee Meets Bagel: Download Coffee Meets Bagel, the dating app for serious daters here • Honey: Try PayPal Honey for free at JoinHoney.com/ABG __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Spill the Baby Tea with Helen: 5 Tips to Keep Your Relationship Strong After Having a Baby

Couples often wonder how to maintain their romantic spark after having a baby. HOW DO YOU KEEP THE FIRE GOING?!?! On this week’s episode of Spill the Baby Tea, Helen brings on to the podcast her husband, @wongfuphil, to openly talk about what’s worked for the two of them. Practicing self-care, scheduling in sexaYy time, learning how to be a good teammate, and gutturally laughing about it all when they’re both butt-nekked in bed for survival mode, rather than for funsies. Having a baby can be tough on a relationship, but it can also deepen your connection. We hope the insights on this episode will help you to maintain a strong bond with your partner during this time of change. Love, in the time of diapers. If you have any other tips or suggestions for how to keep your relationship strong after having a baby, share in the comments of AsianBossGIrl’s latest Instagram post, linked here. S18 Ep 219Episode 219: What Does It Mean to be Blasian? feat. Janine Oda & Ryan Alexander Holmes

In the face of pervasive racism and stereotyping, particularly in recent years, it’s important for all minority communities to stand together in solidarity. On today’s episode, we’ve invited Janine Oda and Ryan Alexander Holmes to sit with us and discuss their experiences growing up Black and Asian. How did their mixed families, and the way that society viewed them, affect their personal cultural identities? Janine is an actress, who you may recognize from Wong Fu Productions’ Yappie, Everything Before Us, or Traif: An Unkosher Series. Ryan is an actor and content creator who uses his story and voice to encourage others of mixed ethnic/cultural backgrounds to fully embrace who they are. You may have seen his bilingual skits on TikTok, or his roles in The Morning Show and Dear White People. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng and Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Stitch Fix: Get $20 off your first purchase at stitchfix.com/abg __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. I have never lived alone. Yes, I'm well into my 30's and I always had roommates, housemates...you name it. We’ve reflected on the ups and downs of relationships before, but today we’re specifically going to focus on those small, stupid conflicts that are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and yet so infuriating in the moment. Whether it’s adjusting to each others’ daily living habits or going through life transitions together, there’s always going to be some things your partner does that annoys you. However, in the end it’s all about how you communicate and compromise to resolve these little frustrations. These stories have all been “okayed” by our partners, so listen in as Mel shares her sacred morning routine, Janet talks about adjusting to life as a dog mom, and Helen reveals how she once… “ass-chucked” her husband?? __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • ZocDoc: Download the ZocDoc app for FREE at ZocDoc.com/ABG __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. S18 Ep 213Episode 213: Ivory Aquino on Having the Power to Rewrite Her Childhood (Celebrating Trans Day of Visibility)

On today’s episode, we are so honored to have Filipina actress Ivory Aquino grace us with her vibrant energy and help us wrap up Women’s History Month. This week also coincides with International Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st), which celebrates the accomplishments of transgender and gender nonconforming people, while also bringing awareness to the work that is needed to achieve trans justice (GLSEN). As a trans woman, Ivory describes her childhood as “a push and pull of joy and questioning.” Born and raised in the Philippines, Ivory moved to the US to study at Berklee College of Music. An accomplished singer, dancer, and actor, Ivory is best known for portraying transgender activist Cecilia Chung in the miniseries “When We Rise” and being cast as Alysia Yeoh in DC Film’s “Batgirl.” Her powerful stories remind us why it is so important to approach the unknown with curiosity, rather than fear. Living Well with Janet: What is the Formula for Happiness?

It is probably one of the most elusive things pursued by humankind. When people ask: “what do you hope to achieve in life?” “what is your ultimate goal?” or “what is the meaning of life?” – you’ll often hear the answer: I just want to be happy. But what does that really mean? Is it a state of being? Is it the same for everyone? Is it even achievable? March 20th is the UN International Day of Happiness. The purpose of this holiday is to make people around the world realize the importance of happiness within their lives. In honor of this mission, this episode explores happiness in my own life and prompts you to think about it in yours. If you enjoyed this episode, please share your unique formula for happiness and leave a simple, classic smile emoji in the comments of our IG post! __________________________________________ Host: Janet Wang Editor: Victoria Cheng __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. S18 Ep 212Episode 212: Finding Strength Through Sisterhood and Personal Wins

As women, we are often made to feel like our accomplishments are not worth celebrating, or that the struggles we go through are just something we have to bear with a smile. Whether intentional or not, this messaging can come from strangers, our governments, work, and even people we know. There are many days where we can be hard on ourselves, when it feels like things are not going as planned. So this Women’s History Month, we want to take a moment to celebrate the people and moments in life (big or small) that give us strength and make us feel empowered. Through the ups and downs of life, our sisters and close girlfriends uplift us and make us feel like badasses. Even if the world tells us we are “past our prime,” we take pride in our life experiences and practices that sustain us. May this episode be a tonic on a rough day. Or an energy boost on a good day! It’s a love note to our ABGs, and for ourselves, and a reminder that we have always been enough. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Liquid IV: Receive 20% off your order using promo code ABG at liquid-iv.com • Lume Deodorant: New customers get $5 off a Lume Starter Pack with code ABG at LumeDeodorant.com __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. No Dumb Questions with Mel: What Is My Value?

Hi! It's Mel & I'm back with a new mini show. As the youngest & baby of the ABG trio, I have a lot of questions about everything. I've been told I ask the things people are afraid to ask (because they're afraid to look dumb 😅). In this show, there is no such thing as dumb questions ;) and just an exploration of my curiosity about life. From those random shower thoughts, that personal question buried deep, to those random in between moments, we’re going to explore all of those in No Dumb Questions with Mel. Today, we go off to the deep end & I share how my loss of value led me to something new. __________________________________________ Host: Melody Cheng Editor: Victoria Cheng __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. S18 Ep 211Episode 211: What Feedback Would You Give to Your Boss? The Value of a 360 Review Process

Receiving feedback on your performance in the workplace is always nerve-wracking, particularly when these review processes are tied to your compensation and perceived value. We started our careers working 9to5 jobs and we came to expect periodic performance reviews – most often annually, but sometimes even quarterly. This process can look different depending on the company. There are self-assessments, peer assessments, and what’s called the 360 review, which involves a full circle of feedback from employees to peers to managers. Hi K-Dreamers! This episode, for the time being, will be my LAST episode of K-Dreaming with Mel. 😭 This may sound like a shock to some & know that I still love K-Dramas & K-Pop very much. When we started these mini show series, it was a bit of an exploration of topics for us. At the time, I was very excited to explore the realm of Korean entertainment through a podcast. However, as time moved on, I realized there is much more I want to share with you all. SO with that, I will still be having a mini show & am excited to show an even more vulnerable side of me through it. More details will be shared through our social media along the way 😘 For now & always, I will still be consuming a lot of K-Drama & K-Pop content. I mean Part 2 of The Glory is coming out & I am very excited for it. Lastly, I want to say THANK YOU to those who have joined me with Kdreaming. Thank you so SO much! With that, let’s kick off our last topic that I know we all have many thoughts on…Comparing Western & Asian Dating Shows! __________________________________________ Host: Melody Cheng Editor: Victoria Cheng __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Peloton: Get 30 days of Free Classes on the App - Learn more at onepeloton.com __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Spill the Baby Tea with Helen: 5 Ways to Manage Mom Guilt

Mom guilt is real, and when a bad day makes you feel like a bad mom, just know that you are everything your child needs. I wanted to take this episode to share what mom guilt is (cuz it absolutely is real!), when and how it shows up, how it evolves, and how we can overcome it. No mom is perfect, and every mom makes mistakes. But often, to your kids, even those ‘mistakes’ can be exactly what they need. Your kids think you are the best mom even if you forced a missed nap, watched too much TV, or ate dumplings for dinner for the x-th time this week. Let’s normalize the conversation and talk about it all. Mom guilt - the good, the bad, the guilty. Here are a few shortcuts if you’d like to hop to a topic that interests you! [01:03] – My Giggle of the Week – Eating out with a toddler [02:33] – My Drool of the Week – Dropping the second nap!! Nooo [04:25] – What is mom guilt? [06:45] – When and why does mom guilt show up? [16:32] – 5 ways to manage mom guilt [22:10] – Outro I’d love to hear if you also have had or are dealing with mom guilt, and perhaps, what your strategies are to overcome it. Let’s continue learning from one another and helping each other through this journey of parenthood. Share your experience in the comments of AsianBossGirl’s latest Instagram post. S17 Ep 207Episode 207: The Bachelor or Football?! Water Cooler Conversation Topics to Break the Ice at Work

Working in an office setting means that there are often situations where small talk is required. Before meetings, in elevators, and what’s commonly referred to as “water cooler conversations” in the break room. But maybe you’re someone who hates small talk, or maybe you just don’t have any idea what conversation topics to bring up with your colleagues, managers, and bosses. Do you play it safe and stick to topics of sports, TV shows, and pop culture? Or do you show some vulnerability with coworkers to try and form deeper relationships with your coworkers? In this episode, we share some of our personal stories and the different topics we had to study up on to navigate these water cooler conversations. Between all our backgrounds in different industries, from finance, to UX design, to fashion and media, we found that our experiences and interactions with colleagues also differed from one another. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Love & Pies by Trailmix Games: Free to download in the Apple Store or Google Play __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Living Well With Janet: When You Meet Your Person After 35

I believe that Wellness is holistic. Beyond food, sleep, and exercise, it’s also about the relationships in our lives, and key among these relationships is the one we have with our life partner. At 37 and 44, my current partner and I are just beginning our journey together about a decade past the average person in the US. So what does that mean for us? How do we go about committing to and reaching such significant life milestones together when we’ve known each other for less time than one season of the Bachelor? In honor of Valentine's Day, I want to explore the question: what happens when you meet your person, later in life? Hello K-Dreamers! There's nothing hotter than my boyfriend liking K-Dramas as much as me...jk. But in all seriousness, I find that when my partner & I like the same type of shows, it has made our lounge time & our connection stronger. I've been in relationships before where our show preferences were off (I share more about this in the ep) and it played a role in our lack of compatibility. Spill the Baby Tea with Helen: Not Showering for a Month!? My Postpartum Confinement Period (坐月子)

The postpartum period, or the “4th” trimester, can look different for many people depending on one’s cultural and societal expectations for this period of time. For me, all expectations went out the window and were guided by the one and only, Momma Wu. My mom stayed with me for a month to administer my postpartum confinement period, aka 坐月子, which literally translates to “sit for one month”. Many believe this is one of the most important periods when the mother must let her body recover and be well-nourished with confinement meals high in nutrients that aid in every step of recovery. So, what did I eat? Did I sleep? Did I shower? Did it work?! I share all of that on today’s episode. Here are a few shortcuts if you’d like to hop to a topic that interests you! [01:40] – My Giggle of the Week – Getting a Nanny [04:53] – My Drool of the Week – How much time are we giving our loved ones? [06:21] – What is the postpartum confinement period? [07:46] – What Day 1 looked like [09:37] – Why are confinement period foods so important during this time? [13:30] – Confinement personal hygiene practices [18:51] – Cultural and generational differences [22:24] – Conclusion – did it work!? After you’ve taken a listen, let me know in the comments of our IG post, linked here, if you related to this episode in any way. If you also experienced “sitting month”, I would love to hear about it! How did your confinement period differ from my experience, or was it very similar? Did you have your mom administer your confinement period? Or did your MIL do it, which I could see being even more intense with all the things you might hold back on saying! Or did you hire a confinement nanny? And if you’re planning on doing it – what are you most looking forward to? As always, thank you for allowing me to share my personal journey with you all. I have so much more to learn and would love to continue connecting and learning from all of you out there. S17 Ep 204Episode 204: Feng Shui Basics and Best Practices - with Sara Jane Ho of Netflix’s Mind Your Manners

We just celebrated Lunar New Year, and a lot of us took time to clean up our spaces and revive the energy around our homes. As we went through this process, one question that came to our minds was: how do we optimize our surroundings according to feng shui? Feng Shui is the Ancient Chinese Art of arranging objects in an environment to achieve a balance of harmony. Today, we’re talking to Sara Jane Ho, the star of Netflix’s Mind Your Manners and the founder of Chinese finishing school, Institute Sarita, where students are taught etiquette and lifetime skills. She has an extensive background in the art of feng shui, and she shares with us some best practices, such as where to place your bed, the importance of having a commanding position in your workspace, and how to decorate your living space with balance and respect for your home in mind. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Liquid IV: Receive 20% off your order using promo code ABG at liquid-iv.com • The Lavendaire Lifestyle: Discover new episodes every Sunday on YouTube, Spotify, & Apple Podcasts, or visit lavendaire.com to learn more. • Let’s Get Deep: Get 20% off this card game with code ABG at whatdoyoumeme.com/letsgetdeep • Stitch Fix: Get $20 off your first purchase at stitchfix.com/abg __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Living Well with Janet: Sober-Curious? Go ‘Damp’ not ‘Dry’

Given the aftermath of the last few years, I’d say that many of us have Dry Jan sitting pretty high up on our new year’s resolutions lists. But WAIT - before you empty those glasses COMPLETELY, I want to share an alternative approach to Dry Jan. Not to be discouraging, but research shows that ⅓ of people who attempt Dry Jan fail to make it the whole month. Instead of going ‘Dry’ this year - there is a new movement called going ‘Damp'. Listen to this episode to find out what it means to be 'Damp' and how to be it. S17 Ep 202Episode 202: Behind the Scenes of “Lucky Cat” - Our First Children’s Book! with Illustrator, Eunice Chen

Last Fall, our first children’s book “Lucky Cat” made its way onto bookshelves all around the world. Since then, we’ve had such a heartwarming response from parents and kids who have loved June and her family’s story as immigrants in America, along with their adorable and magical Lucky Cat. Writing a children’s book has always been a “blue-sky goal” for us, and we’re so proud to share our journey with you all today, a process that stretched over the course of several years. From being contacted by a UK publisher, to where we found inspiration for the story, and the several drafts of revisions, we really got a crash course in what it takes for a book to come to life! Joining us to discuss our creative process is our amazing illustrator, Eunice Chen. Eunice is an Asian-American artist who lives in New York City with her husband, son, and corgi. After building a 10-year career in education, she returned to her childhood love of art, which led her to our stunning picture book that you can hold in your hands today! We are currently holding a book drive to donate 2,500 copies of “Lucky Cat” to libraries and early childhood literacy. Join us in bringing greater representation in children’s storytelling and sharing the Lucky Cat story! Check out https://donorbox.org/lucky-cat-jan-2023-book-drive for more information. __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Contributing Editor: Haemee Kang Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Modern Fertility: Get $20 off a test by visiting ModernFertility.com/ABG Peloton: Get 30 days of Free Classes on the App - Learn more at onepeloton.com • Vaccines: Find vaccines near you at vaccines.gov. S16 Ep 195Episode 195: ABG Favorites - 36 Questions to Fall in Love (Episode 35)

“The 36 Questions That Lead to Love” by Daniel Jones on The New York Times challenges friends and couples to be candid through a series of personal questions. There are three sets of twelve questions each, with increasing levels of vulnerability. This activity is based on a psychology study that explored how intimate and honest conversation creates connection and increases closeness, even if the participants were strangers at the start. After starting a podcast and business together, we know a lot about one another, but we wanted to challenge ourselves in this episode to explore even deeper levels of closeness through this activity. Tune in as we share what our perfect day looks like, how often we sing to ourselves, and what one quality or ability we would want to gain. As yet another year comes to a close, it’s always nice to look back on past episodes and hear what’s changed over the years. Today we’re playing one of Janet’s favorite episodes: our very first episode of Season 4 (we’re now on Season 16!), which she loves for the intimate conversation we shared while recording. We answered Set I in this episode, but you can also go back to listen to Part 2 on Episode 37: 36 Questions to Fall in Love (Part II). Leave us a heart in the comments if you would explore these questions with a friend, acquaintance, or stranger! __________________________________________ Hosts: Melody Cheng, Janet Wang, Helen Wu Editor: Michelle Hsieh __________________________________________ P A R T N E R S • Vaccines: Find vaccines and boosters near you at vaccines.gov • Issuu: Sign up for FREE or get 50% off a premium account with code ASIANBOSSGIRL at issuu.com/podcast • Sweet or Savory with Alyssa and AJ: Catch new episodes every week on Spotify or wherever you listen to your podcasts and follow them @sweetorsavorypod __________________________________________ C O N N E C T W I T H U S • Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook • Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here • Shoutouts: Give a shoutout on the podcast here • Email: [email protected] __________________________________________ S U P P O R T U S • Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com • Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support • More about us at asianbossgirl.com Learn more about your ad choices. Spill the Baby Tea with Helen: The Lessons We’ve Learned In Our First Year as Parents

This year has been jam-packed with new life experiences. As our baby reaches the ripe age of 1 (very soon!), I wanted to bring my husband, Philip Wang, on to the pod to talk about what it’s been like to take on this new identity of a parent. If we could turn back time, what is a piece of advice we would’ve told ourselves one year ago today? What is something we didn’t know or expect to happen in the first year as new parents that surprised us? Becoming a parent is a major life transition, and all transitions, no matter how eagerly anticipated, are accompanied by stress, fear, and lots of unknowns. We’re ecstatic that we survived the first year. And grateful that we can impart what we’ve learned to everyone that tunes in. Here are a few shortcuts if you’d like to hop to a topic that interests you! [01:38] – My Giggle and Drool of the Week [09:09] – What would we tell ourselves as new parents, one year ago today? [28:49] – Something we didn’t expect to happen in the first year as new parents, that did happen! [44:12] – Outro After you’ve taken a listen, let me know in the comments of our IG post if you related to this episode in any way. What are some lessons that you can share with first time parents? Is there anything we missed in this episode that you would like to add? As always, thank you for allowing me to share my personal journey with you all. I have so much more to learn and would love to continue connecting and learning from all of you out there.
