VP Harris presents a false gospel of vaccines while playing fast and loose with the COVID numbers. Secretary Buttigieg sets a new goal of zero traffic deaths nationwide. Both are examples where idolatry leads to a false gospel of mankind's power and ability. This is the recipe for tyranny. The Protestants, named for the official legal protest that they submitted to the Emperor, asked for religious liberty. While after years of conflict the Emperor was able to force nearly all of Germany to submit to Catholicism, one city stood alone in defiance. That city was Magdeburg which, through its lesser magistrates, was able to win its religious freedom. On today's episode I continue walking through the book Lex Rex, by Samuel Rutherford. In chapter fourteen, we look at whether the safety of the ruler is more important than that of the people. In chapter fifteen, we consider whether the ruler is above the law. These are both key issues, for if the ruler is more important than the people, than the people can be sacrificed for the good of the ruler. And if the ruler is above the law, then the ruler plays the part of God. Today is a special edition episode that I did in light of both the passing of RBG and the recent comments on justice by Tim Keller. Given that the Republicans have seemingly decided to proceed with filling the empty seat on the Supreme Court, I want to look at how to fight with both integrity and honor. As for Tim Keller, I will be looking at when to fight and take a stand on issues of morality. While we cannot be black and white when God allows for grey, we must not be grey when God declares something to be black and white. On today's episode I look at how God's law applied to the people of Israel and what it means for Jesus Christ to fulfill the law. Why does it matter that Jesus is the new High Priest and has inaugurated a New Covenant? How does that affect the way that the law applies to those who are in Christ?
