S2E8 – Idolatry and Civil Disobedience, Part 5

Part 1: Law of the Day (Matthew 22:15-22) - “Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?....” Part 2: Today I connect the topic of idolatry with that of vaccine and mask mandates. I consider some of the common phrases or mottos that we see publicly displayed. I also look at the speech given by Governor Kathy Hochul of New York a few months ago. Are these speeches just examples of flamboyant language, or is something deeper taking place? In what ways has the vaccine become idolatrous? What should our response be?
