A Brief History of Iran/U.S. Relations || EP 164

Yesterday, the US military killed top Iranian military leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani in a targeted assassination via drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq. This attack was no doubt in reaction to an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq that took place over the holiday. That attack, was in retaliation for an attack U.S. forces carried out on five Kataeb Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria on Sunday. Those airstrikes were in retaliation for an attack on Dec. 27, in which an American contractor was killed and several U.S. military service members were wounded in a 30-plus rocket barrage on a military base near Kirkuk, in northern Iraq. AUDIO ARTICLE || If you want a "Worker-Owned" business, you're free to start one

If you want a "Worker-Owned" business, you're free to start one There are no laws stating that a group of workers cannot group together and form a cooperative business. Why aren't these popping up everywhere? Because it's a bad idea. Sanders and Warren have both introduced plans to turn over ownership of America's largest corporations to the workers. Sanders' plan would require all public companies to offer 20% ownership of their company to their workers. In addition to the issuance of new stock, the workers would also have "Right of first refusal" if the company wants to offer itself up for sale. Who will finance the purchase of the company if the workers don't have the capital to purchase the company? The government, of course. AUDIO ARTICLE || No Bernie, Women Don't Have a 'Constitutional Right' to a Taxpayer-Funded Abortion

No Bernie, Women Don't Have a 'Constitutional Right' to a Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Yesterday, Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders made yet another wild and unfounded statement on twitter: "Abortion is a constitutional right- Not a privilege for those that can afford it." Let's be clear about the argument laid out in this tweet. Bernie isn't even having a conversation about whether or not abortion should be legal. He's moving past that, and now stating that not only should they be legal, but you have a "constitutional right" to an abortion paid for by other people. The problem he's pinpointing is not abortion's legality, but the terrible tragedy of only rich people being able to afford abortions. Sanders loosely derives this conclusion from the famous Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade. But remember, Roe v. Wade did not lay out that the government should use taxpayer money to subsidize abortions. It simply said that the 4th Amendment protected a woman's privacy in this matter. AUDIO ARTICLE || Elon Musk is proof that Warren's "Wealth Tax" is a terrible idea

Elon Musk is proof that Warren's "Wealth Tax" is a terrible idea Democratic candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have championed an idea so bad it was ditched by nine countries in Europe, including Denmark, and Sweden. Despite claiming to push "Scandinavian style Socialism," both candidates seem to be in favor of policies even those countries thought were terrible ideas. Musk is a perfect example of the flawed ideology behind a wealth tax. Even though Musk is a "billionaire" worth $26.6 billion, Musk only has about $200 million in liquid assets. How is it that there is such a large discrepancy between net worth, and liquid assets? Easy. Most of Musk's net worth is in his ownership of SpaceX, and Tesla Motors. By most, I mean 99.2% of his net worth, or roughly $26.4 billion. AUDIO ARTICLE || Why I'll Continue to Choose Individual Liberty Over Fairytales of a Socialist Utopia

Why I'll continue to choose Individual Liberty over Fairytales of a Socialist Utopia Why Free-Market Capitalism? Doesn't it promote greed, fraud, abuse, and any other terrible thing you can think of? Humans are greedy. Humans are dishonest. Humans want the most they can get from the least amount of effort. Yes, Capitalism has shown us how these qualities can become exaggerated, and might even lead to "exploitation," but there's just one problem.. The same human beings exist under Socialism, as well. This does not mean that we should give up on becoming better people, but it does mean that we should not ignore the reality of humanity in front of us. When contemplating an economic and social system, you have to ask the following question: Which system, when it's corrupted by evil men, has the best chance of creating a better life for the most amount of people possible? That answer, has been proven time and time again throughout history. Yes, Free-Market Capitalism rewards greed, but under true Free-Market Capitalism, those who seek to take advantage of others are forced to provide the people with things they want. They are forced to provide the best service while knowing that others have the opportunity to rise, and compete against them. Don't agree? Try starting a business that specializes in providing things that people don't want.. AUDIO ARTICLE || How the "Okay Symbol" Became the Latest Media-Fabricated Controversy

How the "Okay Symbol" Became the Latest Media-Fabricated Controversy We've all heard the story by now, but if you haven't, here's the latest controversy. Cadets at West Point, and the Naval Academy were seen at the Army/Navy football game giving the "Okay symbol" on camera while a broadcaster for ESPN hyped up the game. An investigation has now been launched into the cadets involved, and whether or not these cadets were indeed flashing a "white-power" symbol on camera for the world to see. When exactly did this become a symbol for White-supremacy? The controversy itself can be linked back to the notorious discussion board site "4chan." The Anti-Defamation League traced this movement to its original source, and released an article detailing the chain of events back in May of 2017: READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. AUDIO ARTICLE || Obamacare is Further Proof That "Medicare for All" Wouldn't Work

Obamacare is Further Proof That "Medicare for All" Wouldn't Work Over the past week, we've seen the quiet, but deadly dismantling of the remaining parts of the massive program. Within the $1.4 trillion spending bill passed by Congress and signed by President Trump, we saw a much needed removal of the tax on so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans. That's right, employers and insurance companies were actually being punished for offering insurance plans that were too good. Why? Among other reasons, the simplest would be that if the taxpayers are subsidizing insurance, we don't want the insurance to be too expensive to start out with. Then, the government could be accused of not wanting to subsidize plans that only the rich could afford. The answer? Do your best to make those plans illegal, or at least remove them from the equation. Trump's Tax Returns | The Death Penalty | & The Dangers of Semi-manual Labor in 2019 | EP 148

GMLconnect.com Let's talk about Trump's tax returns! What's in them? No one knows. Of course, this fortunately leaves room for wild speculation. Is he actually only worth $1 billion? Did he pay money to Jeffery Epstein? Did he evade taxes? We don't really care, unless it was that Epstein conspiracy. Retailers nationwide are competing with Amazon by offering free 1-day shipping. Oh, the perils of Capitalism. Seems as though you can now benefit from Amazon, even if you don't have a membership. Speaking of Amazon, let's talk about conditions in their warehouses. We spoke about an unfortunate story involving a former Amazon employee. She now has bulging discs, and suffers from constant pain due to the constant stream of work required by Amazon. Her Job description? Pick up boxes and put them on a shelf. Of course, some of those boxes were heavy. Quick question: Can you blame the business if someone takes a job that knowingly requires the lifting of heavy boxes, and they end up with a bad back? For that matter, could you demonize construction managers because their drywall hangers suffer from back pain later in life? How about someone that runs a coal mine? Of course not. It's in the very nature of the job that if you take the job, you would be required to do manual labor, and are at risk for developing back problems. Bernie Lie #6,327 | "We'd solve homelessness by taking all of Bill Gates' wealth." Fact Check: FALSE | EP 137

Senator Sanders decided to take aim at Bill Gates yesterday. Why Bill Gates of all people? Gates is well known for being a great philanthropist. He and his wife have paid more in taxes than anyone in history, and they've also given more to charitable causes than anyone in world history. $10 billion in taxes, and over $45 billion to charity. If the Middle Class is shrinking.. Where are they going? Answer: The Upper Class | Episode 136

Today on the show: Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are fond of mentioning that the "Middle Class is shrinking." Of course, they bet on their supporters choosing not to look at where they are going. The data are in. People are moving into the Upper Class at an amazing rate. From Mises.org: Over the past forty years, for example, the proportion of households making less than $50,000 per year has continued to decline. The percentage of households with incomes under $50,000 fell from 49.5 percent to 39.9 percent, from 1969 to 2018. It's true that households in the $50,000 to $100,000 range also went down, dropping from 38.2 percent to 29.7 percent over the same period. But where did those people go? They weren't going into the under-$50,000 group because that group was shrinking. In fact, there are now more households in the over-$100,000 than in the $50,000-$100,000 category. The idea that Bernie and Warren are trying to drill into their followers heads is that people are slipping out of the middle class and falling into the lower class. This of course supports their assertion that the almighty U.S. government should step in and redistribute the wealth more evenly. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. Apple enters the housing market | UK experiences historic healthcare wait-times | Investors warn Warren's plans could "halve" the stock market | EP 135

Podcast Notes 11/6/19 On today's episode we talked about a few main issues: Elizabeth Warren might "halve" the Stock Market Women are starting their own businesses at an amazing rate Apple is entering the affordable housing market UK's NHS is experiencing drastic wait times for patients We've stated this in several "opinion" pieces before, but now stock market analysts are weighing in on the left's terrible tax strategies. Anthony Scaramucci weighed in with Yahoo Finance on the notion that Warren's Wealth Tax, Stock Trade Tax, and Net Investment Income tax are going to be detrimental to the US Stock Market. Scaramucci stated that the market is likely to be cut in half if Warren is elected president. Marketwatch noted that women are starting their own "Sidepreneur" companies at an unprecedented rate. One of the major benefits of a side hustle being that you can still keep your normal job, and make money on the side. It's an amazing time to be alive, folks. Starting a business has never been safer or easier. Apple has announced a $2.5 billion investment into housing in California. Over the past 15 years, California experienced a housing shortage totaling 3.5 million homes. Apple has decided to reinvest in the area they call home. Offering financing to first-time home buyers, and low income individuals. Thank you, Capitalism. The biggest benefit is the fact that this money is value backed, not debt or printed money like what would usually come from such programs offered by the government. Finally, we discussed a story from Fox News noting historic healthcare wait times in the UK. The report on the government-run NHS system in England, released last month, details increased wait times for services ranging from emergency room visits to cancer care. And the study reports historic waiting lists totaling over 4.5 million people, up 40 percent in five years, for treatment with specialists. "Cancer waiting times are the worst on record," the report also declares. Turns out that everything being "free" comes with a price. The price? Long wait times, and sub-standard care. This is basic economics, people. You mandate that healthcare has to be expensive through regulations, and then you mandate that the prices be controlled through regulations. This has equalled less people entering the market for healthcare services, including Pharma companies, Doctors, and Nurses. Plans like Warren and Sanders' "Medicare for All" is destined to bring the same sub-standard care to the US. Krispy Kreme stops man from reselling donuts, receives backlash, then reverses their decision | Episode 134

Podcast Notes from 11/5/19 - Listen at this link. Today we talked about several headlines found in the news over the last few days. We started with Trump losing the appeal to keep his tax returns away from the public's eyes. I, for one, simply do not care what comes out in Trump's tax returns. He could have been dodging taxation his whole life and my response would be "Good for him. I wish I could do that, too." I can't help but think that this is yet another witch hunt focused on finding ways to demonize the president before next years election. If it were say, Barack Obama, I doubt those on the left would be raising such a fuss about the president not wanting to disclose his tax returns. Likewise, it's important that we remain principled. What would republicans be saying if Obama were refusing to disclose his tax returns? I doubt they would be fighting for Obama's privacy in the matter. Also mentioned were two stories: One noting Oklahoma's release of nearly 500 prisoners that had been previously convicted of drug crimes, and another mentioning the recent raid in California resulting in the the finding of $1.5 billion in illegal marijuana grows. First off, good for Oklahoma. Similar to Alcohol, Caffeine, Nicotine, and Sugar, drugs are bad. However, that does not automatically mean that the government has any business in dictating what people can and cannot do to their own bodies. If you are truly free, then surely that freedom extends to your right to harm your own body. I doubt that putting drug addicted citizens in prison is the best course for rehabilitation. Second, let's talk about this seizure of illegally grown marijuana in California. It's interesting to me that it's now legal to smoke in California, yet you still have to garner a license from the government to be allowed to grow. Unfortunately, if you think state legalization means an end to the failed drug war, then you will be sorely disappointed. The drug war is still on, only now the war is focused on those growing plants without the governments permission. Now we land on Krispy Kreme. Last week, Krispy Kreme ordered a man to "cease" and "desist" his operation, in which he would drive four hours to the closest Krispy Kreme location, and bring upwards of 100 boxes of sugary goodness to the people of his community for resale. The man was using the money to pay for his college education. Like many others, I was upset with Krispy Kreme for telling the man to stop reselling the donuts. He purchased them at full-price from the store. Where's the problem? The people were aware that they were paying a higher rate for the donuts, and I'm fairly certain they were also aware that they were not in fact purchasing them at a Krispy Kreme location. Luckily, the free market moves faster than the government. After social media backlash, Krispy Kreme reversed their stance and also donated 500 donuts to the young entrepreneur. Can you imagine the government moving this quickly? No. It would have taken years, if ever. That's the beauty of free market capitalism in the era of social media. Ep 131Bernie lies again. Should Twitter or Facebook consider banning him? | Ep. 131

Bernie Sanders is at it again, again. And again, also. On twitter today, Bernie stated that Jeff Bezos' income is "$215 million per day." Okay, Jeff Bezos is in fact worth a lot of money, but does he actually make that much in income? A quick trip to your calculator would tell you that $215 million per day would equal $78 BILLION per year. Maybe that seems possible for the worlds richest person, but it isn't. It just plain isn't. Amazon's gross income in 2018 was $71 billion. So do you honestly think that after "cost of goods sold," they decided to pay Jeff Bezos $78 billion from their $71 billion gross? This is simply what Bernie does. He takes the fact that Amazon's stock has moved up a decent amount in the last few days, determined the market value of Amazon, and then determined how much Jeff Bezos' 18% ownership increased in value over the last few days. By this logic, where were Bernie's tweets about how Bezos "lost" $1.6 billion per day last October? No where to be found because of course, that doesn't fit his agenda. The bulk of Bezos' "worth" comes from his ownership of Amazon. This means that when you say he earned $X-amount, you're talking about the value he earned if he were to in fact sell all of his shares today. Something he hasn't done, meaning that he hasn't technically "earned" this money. If you own stock in any company, you've probably seen the value of your portfolio increase and decrease by substantial amounts over time. On a day where the market is up, does that mean you "earned" what ever the increase was that day? No, because you didn't sell your stocks. There's one other market factor Senator B.S. isn't mentioning. Jeff Bezos' current value of stock might be $100 billion, but he would get no where close to that if he decided to sell his shares on the open market. This would flood the stock market with a supply of shares that it doesn't currently want, meaning the value of those shares would need to decrease to the point that enough people would want to buy his 18% worth of shares. In all actuality, that "$100 billion value" might only get him $50 billion by the time the selloff is finished. That's whats happening when the stock prices is crashing by the way- someone (or a lot of someones) are selling their shares. The market is flooded with supply, and the price drops to the amount that meets the current demand. If you made it through this article you've learned more about the stock market and basic economics than the bulk of Sanders' followers have learned in their lives. This is why we created "BernieLies.com" --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

NCAA reverses position, allowing college players to make money from their name, image, and likeness | Episode 130

Today we had an interesting discussion about the recent decision by the NCAA to allow players to make money from their name, image, and likeness. This is a massive decision from the body which brings in massive amounts of endorsement money from players, although not allowing those players to make money themselves. Overall, we support this move, because you should be free to make money if someone is specifically giving money to use your name towards making profit. Nate and Charlie have a bit of a difference on the issue, which showed through on the podcast. Nates dissent: I agree that they should be able to make money, but I don't want to ignore the part that the NCAA has to play in the ability for the players to make money. Did they not set up the system that makes the whole thing possible? Is this similar to a business risking and investing, and then the worker being able to demand all (or most) of the reward? I obviously want them to make the money, I'm just recognizing the fact that the NCAA does have an argument in wanting a portion of the income from endorsements. It's a complicated issue. What will also be amazing to watch is the culture that develops between schools where some students are making millions of dollars per year from their endorsements, while other player (perhaps on. the same team), might be struggling to get by. Yes, that is the free market, I'm just acknowledging that this will be interesting to watch. Especially considering that many college students favor socialism. Let's see how socialist they are when they have the opportunity to make a million times more money than their friends. Federal Judge sets the stage for Supreme Court battle after blocking Alabama's controversial Abortion Law | Episode 129

Federal court blocks Alabama law that criminalized most abortions https://www.foxnews.com/politics/federal-court-blocks-alabama-law-that-criminalized-most-abortions?fbclid=IwAR0WTDkVHbbSRj3CGZA3kNOdI5qnVPP2ugeWWWIYoBVjdtOi1_VaFZ9GZ4Q A federal judge issued a ruling Tuesday blocking an Alabama law that would make abortion a felony in nearly all situations, regardless of the stage of the pregnancy. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson granted a motion for a preliminary injunction, temporarily preventing the law from being enforced as a lawsuit over the law brought by abortion providers moves forward. "The court is persuaded that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed in showing that the Act violates an individual's constitutional right to obtain a pre-viability abortion, and thus that it violates her constitutional rights," the ruling said, noting that "banning abortion before viability violates Supreme Court precedent." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. Bernie's "Universal Jobs Guarantee" only guarantees LESS productivity in our economy | Episode 128

Today we talked about Clay Aiken's meltdown in front of a crowd of thousands at Politicon this weekend. The Immaturity, oh the immaturity. We also spent a lot of time discussing Bernie Sanders' plan for a Universal Jobs Guarantee. It reminded us of this story from the great Economist Milton Friedman. Economist Milton Friedman was once traveling overseas and spotted a construction site in which the workers were using shovels instead of more modern equipment like bulldozers. When his host responded that the goal was to increase the number of jobs in the construction industry, Friedman replied, "Then instead of shovels, why don't you give them spoons and create even more jobs?" Friedman hit the nail on the head. If your goal is more jobs in America, why not just get rid of all the tractors, combines, planters, and automobiles? Everyone will be guaranteed to have a job. Of course, that would be a terrible idea. The goal would be for those jobs to add value in society. The problem with added Federal jobs is that the money to pay those positions must first be taken from productive sides of the economy. Thus, the job you "create" using tax money must add more value than the productive use that money would have had in the hands of it's original owner. Government Laws and Regulations are to blame for high Healthcare costs in America | LIVE from Politicon | Episode 127

We attended Politicon in Nashville, TN this weekend. Politicon has political figures from all parties converge for discussions, panels, and debates. When we recorded our live episode on Sunday, we decided to speak on healthcare, something both of us would be considered "experts" in, considering we own and operate a business that helps large healthcare companies navigate the tens of thousands of regulations and laws restricting healthcare providers. We chose to pinpoint a few specific regulations that political enthusiasts on both sides could agree to axe. Speaking in front of Trump supporters, Bernie supports, and everyone in between, we found it to be a very fun and meaningful experience. To read about issues facing the healthcare system, go to BernieLies.com and read articles relating to "Medicare for All." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. Tax Receipts Would Have to Go Up by 124% to Pay for All of Elizabeth Warren's "Plans" | Episode 125

Elizabeth Warren has a plan for everything. Some of those plans are expensive. With Warren emerging as a front-runner in the Democratic presidential contest, Yahoo Finance tallied the cost of her plans. Altogether, the Massachusetts senator's agenda would require $4.2 trillion per year in new federal spending, and a like amount in new taxes, if she paid for everything without issuing new debt. The federal government currently spends about $4.4 trillion per year, so Warren's plans would nearly double federal spending. The Treasury takes in about $3.4 trillion in tax revenue each year, so if Warren levied new taxes to pay for everything, federal taxation would rise by 124%. She could pay for some of her plans by issuing new debt instead of raising taxes, but with annual deficits close to $1 trillion already, that might be unwise. - Read the rest of the article from Yahoo Finance Visit BernieLies.com to read articles debunking the many fallacies of Democratic Socialism Grab a "Taxation is Theft," "Shall Not Be Infringed," or "Free Snowden" shirt from our merch store! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. Texas Court Rules Against Father Fighting to Stop 7-Year-Old Son's Gender Transition | When Keeping it "Woke" Goes Wrong

DAILY WIRE- Jury Rules Against Texas Dad Fighting 7-Year-Old Son's Gender Transition https://www.dailywire.com/news/jury-rules-against-texas-dad-trying-to-save-7-year-old-son-from-gender-transition-potential-castration?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dwbrand On Monday, a jury ruled against a Texas father, Jeffrey Younger, attempting to stop his seven-year-old son from a gender transition being facilitated by Dr. Anne Georgulas, the boy's mother and Younger's ex-wife. According to the LifeSiteNews, Georgulas has been granted authority to move forward with puberty blockers, which can cause chemical castration, and, potentially, hormones, if she so chooses. Additionally, with the jury's decision, Mr. Younger will likely be forced to "affirm" his son's new gender identity: a girl named "Luna." FATHER- "I want you to imagine having electronic communication with your son on FaceTime, and imagine that your ex-wife has dressed him as a drag queen to talk to you," Younger told host Luke Macias during an episode of "The Luke Macias Show" podcast in January. "He has false eyelashes and makeup. His hair has got glitter in it. He's wearing a dress." "Now imagine how you would feel seeing what I believe is actual sexual abuse — I believe this is not just emotional abuse but is the very, most fundamental form of sexual abuse, tampering with the sexual identity of a vulnerable boy," the father continued. As reported by The Daily Wire in November, court documents show that Younger's son only dresses as a girl when he's with his mother, who calls the boy by his trans name and has even enrolled James as "Luna" in school. According to Younger, however, James consistently chooses to wear boy's clothes, "violently refuses to wear girl's clothes at my home," and identifies as a boy whenever he is around him. James' mother has accused Younger of child abuse in their divorce proceedings "for not affirming James as transgender" and is looking to strip the dad of his parental rights, reported The Federalist. Georgulas is also seeking to force Younger to foot the bill for James' visits to a transgender-affirming therapist and transgender medical alterations, which may include "chemical castration" two years from now, when the child is just eight. The father noted that, in his opinion, he witnessed that his wife "was only giving [James] love and affection when he was acting like a girl." She used to lock James in his room and tell him monsters only eat boys, Younger added. "Every. Single. Day. You have to see your son sexually abused, and you have to maintain your calm," the Texas father continued, "because the courts are not going to be fair to you. And the only way you can survive this and get your son through this alive is to calmly allow your son to be tortured right before your eyes and outlast the opposition. That's what it's like." No, Chick-Fil-A Wasn't Behind Uganda's New "Kill the Gays" Law

The first ever UK Chick-Fil-A was opened less than 2 weeks ago, and this weekend they announced they will be closing their doors amid backlash from the public. This comes at the same time as a tweet went viral stating that Chick-Fil-A essentially funded a preacher's trip to Uganda that helped them craft a law imprisoning homosexuals, and even sentencing them to death. It took a lot of digging, but by my research has me calling "Myth" on this one. Check out this article from truthorfiction.com - This website from what I can tell if fairly unbiased. If anything, they lean to the left. They rated this tweet "Decontextualized." Even the preacher Chick-Fil-A is said to have funded said himself that he did not support Uganda's law. And the craftily worded stories support that fact by saying sneakily that "Organizers of the conference" helped create Uganda's law. I don't know if you've ever seen a speaker at a conference, but various speakers are not typically people affiliated with said conference. The fact that you spoke somewhere, and then the group that asked you to speak later decided to do something bad, is not proof that you yourself did something bad. Charlie and I spoke at the Young American's for Liberty Conference last month in Detroit. If next month, YAL decides to help craft a Medicare for All law, is Good Morning Liberty guilty of crafting the Medicare for All law? The other organization that there is actual proof of receiving donations from Chick-Fil-A was "Exodus International." Exodus International did in fact send a board member to Uganda in 2009 that said homosexuality was "Evil" in a speech at the conference. Less than a year later, Exodus' president expressed remorse for being involved with the conference in Uganda, and stated that they did not support Uganda's harsh homosexuality law. In 2012, Exodus International disbanded. If Chick-Fil-A did in fact financially support the creation of Uganda's law, then I would boycott them myself. It should go without saying that this type of law does not fit within the teachings of Christianity in the first place, and it obviously doesn't belong in a free society. However, it seems like this is a lot of tactical article writing on the part of those looking to tear down an otherwise stellar chicken joint. Listen to the podcast for more! ~$27 Trillion Taxed and Spent Fighting the War on Poverty... What Did It Get Us? Poverty.

In 1964, the U.S., and President Lyndon B. Johnson declared war. No, not on Vietnam, not on the Middle East, but on "Poverty." At that time, the rate of poverty in the United States was indeed higher than it is right now. The poverty rate was 17.3%, with nearly 39 million Americans living below the poverty threshold. Since then, the U.S. has taxed and spent almost $27 trillion (2019) dollars fighting the "War on Poverty." That's money that was taken out of the production economy, and inserted in the consumption side of the economy. Many on the left would argue that this money was well spent. I've heard explanations like "Just imagine what the poverty rate would have been without that money spent." Afterall, it is true that the poverty rate is lower today than it was in 1964. How much lower is the poverty rate? The most recent data from the US Census Bureau shows that the current poverty rate is 12.3%, with nearly 40 million Americans living below the poverty threshold. Some might say "See? The rate is lower, therefore the War on Poverty has been a success." Those might also point to the fact that immediately following the implementation of the "war," the poverty rate fell from 17.3% in 1964, to 12.5% in 1974. My response to this assertion would be to look at the rate at which poverty had decreased in the 10 years previous to the war's implementation. In the 10 years prior to the start of the war, the poverty rate dropped from 26% to 17.3%. That equals a fall of 8.7 real percentage points, or a 33% decline in the 10 years prior to implementation of the war. The rate of decline following implementation, when the rate fell from 17.3% to 12.5%, was 4.8 real points, or a 27% decline in the rate. This means that the rate of decline actually slowed immediately following the beginning of the war. Today I want to imagine where our economy would be- had that money been left in the right hands. First, it should be discussed what actually constitutes poverty. I'd be dishonest if I did not first admit that the standard of living today is far better than in 1964. In fact, one could make the argument that by 1964's standards, almost no one today is in poverty. Is that a consequence of government spending, or did it happen despite government spending? Neil deGrasse Tyson Doesn't Like Libertarianism because "He wants to help people." | Here's what he gets wrong about Liberty

Today I ran through a few important news stories you might have missed throughout the week. I covered everything from the first all-female spacewalk, the massive teacher's strike in Chicago, Elon Musk being out of cash, and troubles facing the stock market. At the end of the show I spent a bit of time discussing Neil deGrasse Tyson's comments on the Ben Shapiro Show, when he was asked by Shapiro about Libertarianism. He said he can't be a Libertarian, because Libertarians are all about "I'm gonna get mine, you get yours..etc." Basically that Libertarianism is purely selfish, and does not look out for those in need in our society. I discussed why on a technical level this might be true, but on an emotional level we are truly believe that this philosophy is the best way to help the most amount of people. The free market has led to a standard of living that those 100 years ago couldn't have even imagined. If we want to help people, we need to unleash the free market. Debate Night | Democrats Debate Which Candidate is Best Suited to Give Your Money to Other People

Last night I had the painstaking duty of listening to the entire Democratic Debate. My key takeaway: We're all screwed. Just kidding, but seriously it was in fact downright terrifying. Today on the podcast I brought in my favorite clips from the night. Most of the centered around Medicare For All, and the proposed Billionaire Tax on the nations most productive individuals. Also, what's with Warren outright refusing to say the words "raise taxes on the middle class?" Does she really think people are that stupid? Everyone knows Medicare For All is going to require massive taxes on the entire country, not just the rich. She somehow thinks that if you simply hear her say those words, then she has no chance of getting elected. Just say it already! This is a great example of the manipulative nature of most politicians. Let's dive into the ideology that says "Hate the Rich." This ideology has been a natural state of humanity for our entire existence. What can we do to stave of the massive encroachment of the Federal Government in our daily lives? Listen to the podcast to get all the details!
