Ep 279279: Go Behind-the-Scenes of Your Favorite Wellness Brands in the Food Heals VIP Club

Thrilled to announce the brand new Food Heals VIP Club where we go behind the scenes of the businesses of our favorite Food Heals entrepreneurs. They are authors, podcasters, bloggers, speakers, coaches, filmmakers and more. In the VIP club you'll hear how these wellness influencers use their transformational stories, their miraculous healing journeys, their voices to create the life they desire. You will learn exact systems, strategies and real-world advice on how YOU can build a career out of the knowledge, expertise, experiences and passions you have had in your life. So let me give you a little back story about how the Food Heals VIP club was born and what it is. Besides being wildly passionate about holistic health and healing and the notion that food heals, I have another passion: empowering wellness entrepreneurs to build empires. I love entrepreneurship and teaching people to build businesses out of their passions; businesses that serve the world and serve our souls! I have never believed in the notion of slaving away at a 9 to 5 that we hate working at in order to build someone else's dreams. I believe in creating our own reality, our own dream jobs, so that we can live each day excited to wake up and not living in dread or in fear. I know not everyone is born like this or believes this but it was ingrained into my DNA from when I was a kid. Growing up my father was an entrepreneur. I watched him build multiple businesses. I watched him have massive wins as well as massive failures but one thing he said always sticks with me. He said "Build a business you love and then hire people smarter than you to run it so you can take the profits off the top and enjoy your life." This is what he did. When I was young he owned a construction company and he built houses around our small town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. When I was 4 years old he bought a plot of land and built my mom and I a beautiful 5 bedroom house on Lake Ellen drive which was situated between and lake and a creek with a waterfall connecting them (I know I cant make this up!) I have fond memories of going to construction sites with him and how cool it was to see a piece of land go from patchy grass and mud to a beautiful house that a family would move into and call a home. And, not only did my dad build homes but he even fought to have low income housing built in wealthier areas of our town so that children in low income households would be in neighborhoods with good school districts where they could get top notch education. So, there was altruism in his business as well that I always have admired. In the late 80s my father hit a roadblock. The savings and loans crisis which devastated families in the 80s hit him hard. The savings and loan system was originally created to promote homeownership for the working class and was a huge opportunity for people like my father. The S&Ls paid lower-than-average interest rates on deposits. In return, they offered lower-than-average mortgage rates. S&Ls couldn't lend money for commercial real estate, business expansion, or education. However, just like we saw in the subprime mortgage crisis we saw in 2007-2010, the Savings and Loans house of cards eventually came crashing down and by 1989, thousands and thousands of the nation's savings and loans had failed. And thus my father was forced to declare bankruptcy. You would think this is the type of situation that would tear a family apart, force them into poverty, or force business owners to give up. Not my dad. He started over. With help from my mom who worked at UNC as a curriculum creator not only did they come back from this crisis but my dad also paid back all of the debts that he owed when he declared bankruptcy. Then he did something super unexpected. My dad decided to go to law school while I was in high school. Yes this man was a total risk taker - now you know where I get it from- right? Cut to a few years later, my dad had become an attorney in town and I went to college two hours away. My parents decided to move into their beach house which was about 30 minutes from my college town. What happened in the small beachside community of Surf City, NC on Topsail Island was that my dad became to go-to lawyer in town for property law and real estate closings. He built a huge business by becoming the attorney who people got to know, like, and trust. His clients became friends who we would barbecue with, who we could have dinners and drinks with at the one bar in town. He used his previous construction skills and knowledge of the housing industry to start buying real estate and flipping homes and by the time I was a sophomore in college my dad became a millionaire. And there he was living the lifestyle he had told me about- doing what he loved every day. Riding his motorcycle around town, taking my mom, our dog, and I out on the boat every weekend, cooking dinners for friends, families and neighbors and creating the life he envisioned for himsel

Ep 278278: The Gut as a Powerful Tool to Beat Infertility and Chronic Disease with Katherine Maslen

What do cancer, autoimmune diseases, allergies, mental health and fertility all have in common? The gut. Your microbiome does everything from digesting food to absorbing minerals to regulating your immune system and your hormones. All disease begins in the gut… and that's where healing begins as well. So in this week's episode we couldn't wait to interview an international expert on the topic of gut health, Katherine Maslen. Katherine got into nutrition after witnessing a close friend's journey through lupus, an autoimmune disease. As she got sicker, her medicine cabinet grew, yet none of these medications had any positive effect on her health. She passed away at just 52. Katherine knew there had to be a better way. This is what led her to create the Shift Clinic, an international wellness company that is changing the face of health and empowering people to take control of their healing journey. Katherine's tips for rebalancing your microbiome, improving your fertility, detoxing, and boosting your wellbeing: Avoid plastics - these are endocrine disrupters, which means they mess up your hormones. Avoid pesticides - go organic instead (check out the Environmental Working Group's Dirty Dozen and clean Fifteen lists). Avoid gluten and dairy. Drink purified, filtered water - around 8 cups a day. Fill up on fiber (gluten free whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables) - it binds to toxins and takes them out of the body. Balance is everything - if you fancy a glass of wine, go for it (just make sure it's organic and vegan). Focus on the emotional connection. Check out Katherine's book Get Well Stay Well to discover the secrets to get back in touch with your body and start thriving. Listen to the Shift Podcast. Ep 277277: Hypnobirthing Confessions: These Women Tried it - Here is the Truth!

E

Hypnobirthing? What's that? Basically, it is a natural birthing technique without any medication, that uses self-hypnosis techniques to combat fear and pain during labor. The result: you're not screaming in agony (like the typical birthing scene in films!), you're not linked up to all those bleeping machines in a brightly lit room with doctors and nurses running around you, and you're not pumped full of painkiller meds. Instead, birthing becomes a connective, intensely powerful female experience. That's why more and more women are opting out of the traditional hospital birth, and going for natural hypnobirthing instead. Like today's co-host Laura Petersen (which you know from some of our previous episodes). Laura is a best-selling author and self-publishing coach, and she's expecting her first child. She's opted for a natural hospital birth using the Mongan Method. Melissa Tucker, podcast host and marketing expert, has one of the most intriguing birth stories we've ever heard. After having two children the traditional, hospitalized, way, she was inspired to go natural. For her third child, she chose home hypnobirthing. Without epidurals, without drugs, and without doctors, she used self-hypnosis to keep herself calm, focused and centered. The experience was so magical, she wanted to do it all over again. Katherine Maslen is a clinical naturopath, nutritionist, author, and host of the Shift podcast. And she too has an amazing natural birth story. But you'll have to listen to the episode for the details! Here are the best resources if you want to research alternatives to hospital childbirth: Watch the Business of Being Born documentary The Birth Education Centre in San Diego Hypnobabies The Mongan Method www.evidencebasedbirth.com Research your doctor and your hospital (some have higher rates of c-sections than others) Listen to Katherine's podcast The Shift. Ep 276276: The Magical Power of Algae: Heal, Detox, Lose Weight and Rejuvenate!

There exists a single cell organism that contains over 40 different vitamins and minerals, but has only 1 calorie. So what is the magical ingredient? Algae. For Catharine Arnston, this food is the gift that keeps on giving. Catharine discovered algae it by accident. Ten years ago, her sister got breast cancer. She was lucky enough to have an oncologist who understood the diet connection and told her she needed to go on an alkaline diet. Catharine realized she needed to know more about nutrition, so she studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. And she learnt two things: people know they need to eat healthier. And most people don't have the time to do that. Catharine knew she needed to create something green, healthy, and easy to take to help people improve their health effortlessly. So she turned to the one game-changing ingredient in her sister's cancer healing diet: algae. Did you know algae is endorsed by NASA and the United Nations as the most nutrient-dense food there is? It's so nutritious, that the US Government has now set up a bill that encourages farmers to cultivate it. So, what makes algae so healing? Algae can be split into two sub categories. One is seaweed, which is grown in the ocean (like dulse, kelp and nori). It's packed with fiber and iodine and very nutritious. But not as nutritious as the second category: micro algae. The two most powerful micro algae are spirulina and chlorella. Together, they are a powerhouse for your health. Spirulina is energizing and hunger-satiating, while chlorella is healing. Spirulina was the first life on earth, over 4 billion years ago. It's outlived the ice ages and the dinosaurs… So it's got to be pretty special! Spirulina is technically a bacteria, which is great for your gut. It's also the highest protein food (containing 64% protein, in amino-acid form), and because your body doesn't need to break it down, it gives you instant physical and mental energy. That's why Catharine calls her spirulina tablets Energy Bits. It also satisfies your hunger, which is great if you're intermittent fasting. As if that wasn't enough, studies have found that spirulina helps your hair grow faster, clears up your skin, and helps you lose weight. Chlorella developed on earth around a billion years after spirulina. It's a healing food, it helps your body to recover. Hence the name: Recovery Bits. It has the highest concentration of chlorophyll in the world (yes, even more than wheatgrass). Chlorophyll helps your cells to detox by maintaining the health of the cell wall. This allows nutrients to flow in, and toxins to flow out. Chlorella will also attach to toxins in your body (heavy metals, radiation, lactic acids, alcohol, environmental chemicals, etc.) and help eliminate them. It's an intelligent food - it knows what to take out and what to leave in. Which spirulina and chlorella, you're looking at two perfect foods for health and healing. Catharine has blended the two together into Vitality Bits, which gives you the best of both algae in an easy-to-take tiny tablet. Of course, when you take supplements, you want to make sure they're absolutely pure. Catharine spent a long time researching the best place to source and grow algae to ensure her products are the purest quality. She gets her algae from Taiwan, which has the highest standards. The algae is grown in triple filtered water and air-dried to preserve all the nutrients. You can get 20% off on any product at energybits.com with the code FoodHeals. Ep 275275: Detox, Renew, Recharge and Rejuvenate with Lifestyle Cleanse Expert Elissa Goodman

E

What does it mean to cleanse? For many, the word throws up images of green juices and fasting. But that's not quite accurate. You might be surprised to learn that you can cleanse in a gentler way. But you also need to go beyond diet if you want to really reset your body. Elissa Goodman looks 20 years younger than her age (59), you might think she's been blessed with great genes. But she was not the healthiest child. She had a low immune system and was always sick. She got every type of virus, digestive issues, tonsillitis, chickenpox, chronic fatigue - you name it, she had it. To make matters worse, she felt unworthy compared to her high-achieving Type A personality parents. Fast-forward to adulthood, Elissa went to college, got into advertising, and climbed that corporate ladder because she was determined to make her parents proud. But she wasn't following her passion or purpose. She just worked. And got sicker. And one day she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. She knew that this was because she'd been sick most of her life and that her lymphatic system was full of toxins that she'd been unable to clear. But she hadn't thought of the emotional aspect. The doctors she saw first just talked of chemo and freezing her eggs. But one of them was different. He sat her down and asked: Are you happy? Are you doing what you love? It was a turning point. Elissa realized how miserable she'd been in her job and how much she disliked herself. She knew something had to change. She went 100% vegan, she started doing yoga, she went into talk therapy, and do emotional release work. She got rid of her cancer, but the radiation caused hypothyroidism. Then she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and celiac (two autoimmune conditions). And then her husband died of cancer. It was like a cascade of traumatic life events. That's when she decided to go back to school and learn about nutrition so she could help her daughters stay healthy. And that was it - she never looked back. She became a cleanse expert to help as many people as possible get healthy the easy way. Like her 1-week soup cleanse, which contains 45 different vegetables, is totally vegan and free from anything processed or GMO. She helps her clients to reset their body and brain so they can rejuvenate, re-energize, heal, and maintain a new, healthy lifestyle long-term. Here are some of Elissa's tips to reset your body: Juicing - a fantastic way to get all those vitamins straight into your cells Smoothies - packed with healthy fiber which helps cleanse your digestive system Vegetables, vegetables, vegetables - the more the better (especially dandelion greens, cruciferous veg, and celery) Take a good quality superfood powder (Elissa loves Pure Synergy Juice Powder) Cleansing is so important because it also allows you to step away from addictive foods so that you can crave healthy, whole, plant foods. However, cleansing is emotional as well as nutritional. Have you dealt with your trauma? Because no matter how clean your diet, you can still get sick if you have emotional issues you haven't dealt with. Here are Elissa's tips to start letting go of those trauma toxins: Find a good energy healer - you hold a lot of negative energy (toxins) in your cells (Get in touch with Elissa if you'd like to know who she has worked with). Identify what trauma you experienced in your first 7 years. Ask yourself whether you're truly happy with your career / partner / friends / family. Check out books like Mind over Medicine and Radical Remission to learn how to release trauma. Try a meditation app like Unplug. Journal about what you want to let go - first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Cultivate self-love - that is one thing that's missing from most of our lives. Send love to your inner child. Go to Elissa's website to join her cleanse programs! Read Elissa's books Cancer Hacks and Auto-immune Hacks (how Elissa overcame cancer, Hashimoto's and celiac disease). Sign up to Elissa's 7-day reset program. Ep 273273: Josh Trent Part 2: Your Brain on Nootropics, Calling in the One, The Freedom of Forgiveness & the Truth About 5G

E

We're back for another installment of wisdom from the inspiring Josh Trent. Check out Episode 272 for Josh's healing journey, learn about his incredible experiences with plant medicine, and discover the powerful potential of breathwork. Today we are constantly on the go. We're being bathed in WiFi all the time. We're constantly connected to our phone and it keeps pulling us back into it - notifications, emails, calls. We're all trying to multitask and achieving less than ever. We're all trying to set goals but failing because we're not doing the inner work, or connection to the emotions we want to feel. For that same reason, we're unable to find a loving partner. If we could only connect with the understanding and deep knowledge that we are more powerful, more amazing, than we know… but sometimes we need a little help. Nootropics: What are nootropics? They're supplements that increase cognitive performance and verbal acuity. Basically, they help your neurons to function at their highest capacity. Think about it, your brain is always working, even when you don't realize it. You're taking in your surroundings, you're noticing the person you're talking to, you're breathing, you're digesting, you're walking…. Not to mention dealing with the millions of emails, texts and social media messages! No wonder your brain is exhausted! Nootropics help it to work better, to think clearer, and in the long-term protect it from damage. Josh swears by supplements from Neurohacker Collective. Manifesting the one: Who do you want in your life? A "whatever you want, baby" kind of partner, or someone who challenges you? And how do you find love in this world of Tinder and nobody having any time? After three years of being single, Josh manifested his new relationship. He was on Paul Chek's podcast, and Paul gave him a divine union prayer to practice. "Bless me that I choose my life's companion according to the laws of perfect soul union." Nine days later, in the desert, Josh met Kerry Michelle on Cathedral Rock. He knew right away that they had a deep soul connection. It's not just the prayer, of course. It's knowing that you are in the right space for a relationship - knowing yourself and understanding that everything that has happened in your life has happened for your growth. It's a journey towards self-love - because when you can connect with self-love, then you can call in your soulmate. The more you are in the energy of love, the more love you will attract into your life. Forgiveness: You know when you're holding on to the pain that someone else caused you, and you're stuck in victim mode, and you just can't forgive them? We've all been there. But who are you hurting, ultimately? Only yourself. That feeling of anger towards another is a toxic emotion, and it can take over your life because of the negative beliefs that you unconsciously hold on to. Not only that, but you're probably also beating yourself up about the fact you're not being a forgiving person. Right? Double whammy. It was at a Rythmia plant medicine ceremony that Josh realized he'd spent twenty years holding on to anger at his father and believing he couldn't trust men. By forgiving him, and then forgiving himself for having held on to that anger in the first place, Josh was able to release the emotion that was holding him back. You can too. What's 5G doing to us? Believe it or not, within the Terms & Conditions of your phone, there's a statement that says you should never have your phone physically touching you. When the phone touches your body, it transfers the 5G into your DNA. So it's important to keep your phone in your bag, not in your pocket. The less you have your phone touch your skin, the less the 5G will affect your body. Turn off your WiFi at night (you can buy a timer from Amazon). Put your phone on airplane mode if you're carrying your phone in your pocket. If you want to learn more, then check out Josh's interview with Thaddeus Owen, founder of Primal Hacker, to find out how to protect yourself. Want to live your life well and thrive? Everything you do and every thought you have is either coming from a place of love or fear. If you look at our world right now, it seems obvious that we are living too much in fear. And we need to move to love if we want to heal - not just ourselves, but the whole world. It took Josh Trent a long time to get to that place. He had a rough childhood. He was a premature baby and spent the first two weeks of his life in an incubator. His dad left when he was 2 months old. His mum was bipolar. He never felt safe or peaceful at home. Without any parental presence, Josh didn't learn how to deal with his emotions. So he found a drug. And that drug was food. It became a way to numb the feelings he didn't know what to do with. At 21 years old Josh weighed 280 pounds; he was in a loveless relationship and working a job he hated. It was the perfect moment for an awakening - there just HAD to be more to life than this. His journey began with losing weight. He spent 18 months frantically trying all the diets. But he was trying too hard to get out of feeling bad… instead of taking action from a place of trust and self-love. It wasn't working. So at just 24, he sold everything and moved to Hawaii to study nutrition, to work out, and to spend time with himself - to just be. He became a personal trainer to help people lose weight and transform their lives. The thing is… he knew fitness wasn't "it." So he went back to a corporate job selling technology software. It was spiritual suicide. And then he got fired. Suddenly, he felt liberated. He had something to share. After all, our biggest struggles are the biggest gift we can give the world. He decided to launch Wellness Force and started his podcast, Wellness Force Radio, which is now a top-ranked wellness show. But it was plant-medicine which really took Josh to a place of healing, and a place from which he could follow his passion. The first time he drank ayahuasca, he felt an intense, all-consuming, nurturing, loving feminine energy. The energy of the Mother Gaia, Mother Earth. Ayahuasca is an ancient medicine - it was used over 5000 years ago. When you drink it, you go into an altered state. And from that place, you can let go of addiction. Any addiction - food, drugs, work, shopping - covers our wounds but doesn't heal them. To heal it, we need to face the pain. Plant medicine takes you to the source of pain, and lets it out. Yes, it's a drug. But so is coffee. So are opioid painkillers. Ayahuasca is not addictive. And it is even being scientifically studied because of its power to reconnect both brain hemispheres and trigger long-lasting emotional healing. Why do we need this? Because we're killing the world right now. And the way we're treating our earth and our environment, it all comes back to us. When we eat animals that have been tortured, we're absorbing the fear that animal felt, the pharmaceuticals it was fed. Mother Earth is giving these plants to us to teach us how to heal ourselves and our world. To begin healing, you don't have to dive straight into plant medicine. Breathwork is another ancient tool to get to an altered state. It gets you out of your head and into your body, where trauma can come out. The following two practices are easy to do quickly on your own. Phase 1 Sit with your knees below your hips (on a meditation cushion). Align your head, shoulders and hips. Take a deep clearing breath, filling in your belly first and then your chest. Take 21 forceful breaths. Do a few rounds of box breath - 5 second inhale, hold for 5 and feel your belly expand, breathe out for 5 seconds, then breathe out all your air out and feel your stomach contract. Phase 2 This is also known as performance breathing. Breathing in quickly through your nose turns on your stress response and makes you more aware of your surroundings. Breathe in quickly for 2 seconds. Then hold for 7 seconds - this activates your vagus nerve and gets you into rest mode. Then breath out for 8 seconds. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system into healing. Want to get started doing breathwork? Then go to www.wellnessforce.com/M21 to download Josh's guide and take part in the 7-day breathwork challenge. Plus you'll discover other practices that will help you transform your morning, let go of old weight, and heal your life. Ep 271271: How to Overcome Perfectionism and Cultivate Self-love in the Digital Age

DAISY JING - From Acne to Beauty We all want to be beautiful. We all want to be perfect. Why? Because we've been sold the idea that we need to be perfect to be acceptable. This is especially true when it comes to our skin. It has to be pore-less, flawless, smooth, wrinkle-free - that's a lot to worry about. We're all trying to fit into some standardized idea of beauty… a standard created by marketing experts to sell us products and services! Daisy's quest for perfection started in the 3rd grade. As her acne developed, she was determined to get rid of it and make her skin perfect. She visited dozens of dermatologists, tried hundreds of "miracle" products, antibiotics, benzo-peroxide skincare… nothing worked. In fact, many of these products made the acne worse. Check out Episode 220 for her healing story. This struggle with perfection is what motivated Daisy to start her own all-natural skincare brand, Banish, that removes acne scars and is gentle on skin. But more importantly, Daisy went on a journey to let go of the need to be perfect. After all, what is perfectionism? Isn't it just a symptom of feeling that you're not good enough? It's a control issue. Trying to control how you appear to others, hiding your "flaws" so that you become acceptable. This is crazy. Each of us is uniquely beautiful, we all have a light to share. So how do you let go of the need to be perfect? For Daisy, it was focusing on something bigger than herself. As she focused on her YouTube channel, offering advice, sharing her struggles and responding to viewers, her focus shifted from appearance-obsession to helping others. This changed everything. If you want to be comfortable in your skin, you've got to get outside your head. After all, what do you notice about other people? Do you notice their wrinkles and pimples, or do you notice their friendly smile, cool outfit, positive attitude? Beyond Your Skin You're not defined by your looks. You're defined by the difference you make in other people's lives. So, what can you do? Give back. Volunteer at a homeless shelter, organize a campaign, do a clean-up, get involved helping your community, help those in your immediate circle who are struggling, make their life a bit better. Your journey is your gift to the world, any struggles you've gone through are ways you can help others. Acne goes deeper than your skin Your skin is your biggest organ, and it tells you whether something is off. Acne is a sign of a deeper issue - unbalanced hormones, inflammation, poor gut health. Skincare is only 20% of the solution. You need to start from the inside. Going vegan, quitting junk foods, giving up dairy can all help. Once you've got your diet sorted out, then you can look at skincare. A natural way to clearer skin The latest Banish product, Banisher 2.0, will help you on your journey to becoming comfortable in your skin. It's a patented device with 24 carat plated tiny needles, that prick the skin and force it to heal by producing more collagen and elastin (known as micro-needling). Combined with Banish oil (made fresh every day with ascorbic acid - the most potent form of vitamin C), it accelerates the healing and rejuvenating process. You'll get a glow from the first day. Coupon Code FOODHEALS gives you $10 off your purchase. ELLA MAGERS - From poor body image and disordered eating to self-acceptance At just 7 years old, Ella Magers already knew her mission was to save the animals and help our planet. By the time she was a teenager, she was sitting on the side of the road trying to raise awareness of the plight of factory farmed animals. Her struggle with perfectionism really began in her early twenties. She was working in the fitness industry, and she decided that the way to promote the vegan lifestyle was to be so perfect, so lean, so muscular, that people would want to find out how she got there. Unfortunately, this made life impossible. When Ella looked in the mirror, all she saw was her flaws. Her quest for a perfect body led her down a dark path of unhealthy behaviors like extreme calorie counting and binging. On the outside, she was a picture of vegan health, but behind closed doors, Ella saw herself as fat and restricted her food. Because all her focus was on something else - helping animals - Ella disconnected with herself. Isn't that what so many of us do these days? We're taking care of everyone else, too busy with our children, our families, our work… and we neglect to work on ourselves, to cultivate that self-acceptance that helps us to live a joyful, purposeful life, that helps us be the best version of ourselves, and, ultimately, helps us make a bigger positive impact on the world. In the digital age we live in now, we're constantly comparing ourselves to other people - or profiles. How can we get over that? How can we know that we are fine just as we are? Well a good place to start is to say: I am perfectly imperfect. Because that's what we all are. We need to reprogram ourselves to g

Ep 270270: How to Transform Your Money Mindset, Create More Time in Your Day, and Cultivate an Abundance Mentality

E

When it comes to transforming your life, you've got to start from within. So, we've asked three successful entrepreneurs to share their top tips to banish limiting beliefs and step into your dream life. Lisa Thomas - a transformational energy healer, Lisa empowers her clients to reach their full potential by removing inherited emotional blocks. One of the blocks so many of us carry concerns money. How many times have we heard "Money doesn't grow on trees" or "You can't be spiritual and prosperous" or "There is never enough"? Of course this impacts how we view money, and our own prosperity. How can we transform our money mindset and manifest from a place of gratitude? Inherited money beliefs are huge, and they're based around scarcity - there not being enough to go around or that what you have will be taken from you. The antidote? Gratitude. So, how do you tap into that? Start small. "I am grateful that I'm alive." Or you might be grateful that you have a bed, that the sun is out, that you have a roof over your head. Before you know it, your vibration will start rising. Make sure you speak it out loud. When you speak it, it sends it out into the universe. And when you give gratitude, it comes back. Give gratitude for what you know is coming - your high-vibe clients, your perfect home, your ideal partner… What if a negative belief creeps in? That's fear. It's time for stronger statements like "My life is getting better, whether I believe it or not" Check out Episode 215 for the full episode, where Lisa talks to Alli and vegan entrepreneur Whitney Lauritsen about releasing inherited emotional blocks and manifesting all you desire. Lisa is here for you. Go to www.FoodHealsNation.com/Lisa to see her special offer for Food Heals listeners. Check out Lisa's FREE money clearing gift: Releasing Inherited Money Blocks audio meditation - go to www.lisathomas.com to get it. James Whittaker is the author of the best-selling personal finance and motivation books The Beginner's Guide to Wealth, and Think and Grow Rich - The Legacy. He's also co-produced the film Think and Grow Rich - The Legacy. His mission is to help people take ownership of their financial, physical and mental health. Check out Episode 205 for his inspirational money story. How can we all think and grow rich? We need to address our entire life, because money, body, and mind are all linked. If you want to have a good relationship at home, you need to be engaged with your finances. Write out a goals list (financial goals, health goals, life goals etc.), and get your spouse do to the same - this way you can know what's important to them now, and in the future, and work together to make it happen. Get very clear on what you want. It's much easier to take the first step if you know your destination. That will spur you on to greater success. Keep it simple, and consistent. Get out of victim mentality and banish limiting beliefs: Look forward instead of focusing on the past. Get crystal clear on where you want to be - mentally, physically and financially. What is your environment like? Are you hanging out with too many negative people? Get comfortable with being out of your comfort zone. Try journaling - it helps you start the day with intention, purpose and passion. Alida McDaniel helps people across the globe tap into pure consciousness and shift the world one thought at the time. If you want banish those negative beliefs, and create more time in our day for positive action, you need to break out of fear. How? By setting intentions. Give yourself permission to be fearless. Identify the limiting beliefs that are clouding your judgement and affecting your life from the root - it might be that you think you have no time or no skills, it might be that you're afraid of losing people or money or your job. Be committed to taking the actions necessary to make your dreams come true. Announce that commitment to the Universe. Have 100% faith that you will make it. Take ownership for your life so far, be honest with yourself about the actions you're taking right now and how they have brought you where you are today. Decide that you are not going to judge yourself, and choose a different course of action. Create a code of conduct for your new improved life. Check out Episodes 43 and 65 to discover how Alida manifested the one and created a holistic life. Ep 269269: The Magic of Manifestation Using Future Boards with Master Coach Sarah Centrella

E

Sarah's story starts with a text message. It was 2008. She was living a sheltered life - married to her childhood sweetheart, children, a family home. And one day she saw a text on her husband's phone that revealed he had been having an affair. Her world blew up instantaneously. The life she knew ended in 5 minutes. One minute they were sitting down to dinner, the next minute she'd thrown him out. Three days later they filed for divorce. She hit rock bottom. But often the toughest times are those we need the most, even though it might not feel like it in the moment. Her divorce was the catalyst for a new beginning. Sarah began to realize she had the freedom to invent who she wanted to be. She started making a future board - finding pictures that illustrated the life she wanted to experience, and daydreaming about it. And the magic happened. Because when you shift your focus from what you've gone through in the past, or are going through in the moment, to what you want to create, you make your dreams happen. Before she knew it, she'd manifested 95% of what she wanted. Now, Sarah is a master coach who has worked with professional athletes and people across the world. She's a workshop leader, keynote speaker and best-selling author. She's living her best life, and helping people manifest their dreams. Her latest book FutureBoards is a step by step guide to using vision boards to manifest your dream life, and is out TODAY! It's available at Target, and if you take a photo of you with the book, post it and tag @SarahCentrella with the hashtag #futureboards, you could win free coaching, free courses, and autographed books. How to use a vision board: Define what you really want. Find pictures that match what's in your head. Put yourself in your dreams in your mind. Hang your vision board in your space so that you can spend time around it. Get comfortable with your dreams, no matter how big they are. Ep 267267: Restoring, Protecting and Healing the Microbiome with Thrive Probiotics Founder Tina Anderson

E

It was Hippocrates that famously said "all disease starts in the gut" - he was wise beyond his time! In fact, many of the chronic diseases we face today are caused by an unbalanced microbiome. For years, Tina Anderson worked as a general counsel for a family pharmaceutical business. But the more she stayed, the more she realized how abusive that industry is - the over-prescribing, for instance, or reps lobbying doctors to prescribe medication to more people, even those who don't need it yet. Or friends who, after starting one pharmaceutical, suddenly had to take ten more to balance the side effects. You can't fault the business model: one drug lowers blood pressure but causes joint pain, so you have to take another pill to reduce joint pain but that one damages your stomach, so you take a third pill to counter the stomach problems but that one causes poor circulation, and so on. Tina had gone into the pharmaceutical business because she wanted to help people improve their health, so she was appalled by what was really going on. Even though there is a place for pharmaceuticals (like in emergency situations), they are not the answer when it comes to healing chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders. These are lifestyle illnesses, and therefore must be healed by a change in lifestyle, not a drug. When Tina began researching natural health, particularly gut health, she was blown away. What she found led her to patent a powerful and unique probiotic strain, and launch the probiotic company Just Thrive. Now, she's on a mission to help more people naturally heal their gut, and thrive. What's the deal with gut health? The microbiome affects almost every aspect of your physical health. And it's being impacted on a daily basis by our modern lifestyles: antibiotics, glyphosate, toxins, processed food, stress, all these things create an imbalance in the gut, also known as dysbiosis. This happens when bad bacteria takes over the good bacteria. The other big issue is leaky gut, which over 80% of adults suffer from without even realizing it. What is leaky gut? Leaky gut is a condition characterized by tiny holes in your intestinal wall which allow undigested particles (like LPS toxins) from your gut leak into your blood stream. Your immune system doesn't recognize these particles, and attacks by launching an inflammatory response. This is at the root of all autoimmune disorders, but also other chronic conditions like Alzheimer's and heart disease. What causes leaky gut? Glyphosate is one of the biggest problems. It's a pesticide, but it's actually registered as an antibiotic. Unlike medical antibiotics that target both the good and bad bacteria, glyphosate only targets the good bacteria. So why is it still allowed to be used? Because they say it doesn't affect human cells. The problem with that statement is that we're made up of 90% bacterial cells. Which means glyphosate does affect us. Eating organic is a must, and eating fermented foods helps… but it's vital to repopulate the good bacteria in the gut - and you do that with a probiotic. Which is the best strain of probiotic to take? Most probiotics are very sensitive. Lactobacillus, for example, don't survive the gastric system. But bacillus ARE able to survive the gastric system - which means they get to your gut because they're not destroyed by your stomach. These strains reverse the damage done by glyphosate, and even reduce levels of ghrelin (the hunger hormone). I haven't used another probiotic since I've tried Just Thrive, it's THAT good - I take it every day. Want to give it a try? Use the FOODHEALS10 for 10% off at www.thriveprobiotic.com. Ep 266266: How to Step Into Your Purpose, Tap Into Your Power and Transcend Fear For Good

E

On today's bonus episode I am getting real with you, sharing my story - my physical, emotional, spiritual and financial journey that has led me to exactly where I am today. And though it's been tough, traumatic, and painful at times, I know now that it was all perfect. But, it took me some time to be able to see it that way. I have done deep healing, spiritual work on myself. And I'm not done. I don't think we are ever done healing, but I am at the point in my life finally where I am willing to share unapologetically exactly who I am, what I have been through and what I stand for. To stop playing small. To be bold and brave. I now tell my story everywhere I can. From an Instagram post, to the podcast, to my film, to my book, to speaking on stages across the US and internationally I am speaking my truth. The crazy thing about sharing my story is it has led to me living a beautiful, sexy, amazing life that I literally never thought I could have. Opening up about myself has unlocked magic and so by sharing my story with you today I hope it encourages you to share yours as well. You never know who out there needs to heal it. So you may know I am finishing up my book, Food Heals. Today I wanted to start the podcast by reading you the introduction. This has not been edited yet. This is raw, this is me. Ep 265265: Creating a Spiritually Aligned Relationship with Food to Change Your Body, Business and Life with Spirit Junkies Meg, Kelly, Michelle, Alana and Dano

How does food affect our lives? We know it affects the body… but your whole life? Yes! It's the most available tool, the one that can spark the most change! Think about it. If you're stuck in a body you hate, struggling with health issues, or just feeling sluggish and unhealthy, how can you shine your bright light out into the world? These five fellow Spirit Junkies and wellness-preneurs transformed their body, business, and life through food. Meg Sylvester Food had a massive impact on Meg's life…. AND business. Her entire spiritual awakening was linked with food. For years, she had suffered from daily migraines, acne, depression, stomach issues, lethargy. She even thought she had a brain tumor. But she couldn't get a diagnosis. But doctors would check her bloods and tell her she was fine. It was reading Grain Brain and The Universe Has Your Back that flicked a switch on the food/mood/soul connection. She became obsessed with the idea of functional medicine, root cause medicine - of finding the root cause of what was triggering her issues. Suddenly she felt empowered to shift out of victim mentality into lighthouse mentality, and answer her soul's calling. Changing what she ate meant she overcame all her issues and had the energy and mental clarity to follow her dreams. That's what propelled her out of her corporate job and into her current work - coaching others find the root cause of their limiting beliefs, uproot them and, step into a vibrant life. Meg is now a spiritual entrepreneur on a mission to inspire others to build the purpose driven business of their dreams. In just one year after completing Spirit Junkie Masterclass, Meg's led four beautiful and powerful women's retreats. The next one is a women's self-awakening and connection retreat in Guatemala - where you can connect with the earth, the Mayan culture and try sacred plant medicine. It's in October and there are a few spots left. Go to her website for more details. Kelly Lynn Adams As a type A personality, Kelly was always doing, always striving, always busy, and never taking time out for herself. Little wonder, she was burnt out and struggling with her weight and autoimmune issues. Kelly knew that if she felt better, she'd do better, and she was determined to do something better with her life. So, she stared watching what she was eating, drinking tons of water, moving her body. She lost 40 pounds and healed her chronic thyroid condition, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. How? By mimicking fasting with ProLon - getting her body to think it's fasting, when you're actually eating. Of course, it was a mental journey as well as food. For Lynn, it was about focusing on the present moment, rather than future-tripping. Visualizations, affirmations, and believing before seeing. Detoxing from junk foods, but also junk thoughts, junk people, even junk content (like the news!!). Spirit Junkie Masterclass helped Lynn to trust and know that everything is working out for her highest good. Since then, her career has pivoted, because that trust allowed her to align her business with what matters to her. Kelly is a certified business leadership and life coach, writer, motivational speaker. She has helped thousands of women build their businesses, shift their mindset and step into their divine power. Check her out at www.kellylynnadams.com. Michelle De Matheu Michelle had a spiritual awakening when she recovered from anorexia. She was working as a fashion designer, living in New York, living the dream she'd had since she was 4. But she felt disconnected with her body. She didn't know how to love herself. Her aha moment came when she realized her eating disorder was a teacher, that it was opening the door to freedom. She knew she had to peel back the layers, forgive and fall in love with herself. Michelle used yoga and meditation to reconnect with her body. Reading about the benefits of food helped her reshape her beliefs around eating. By looking at the benefits of food, rather than counting calories, helped her realize that food could help her, and was not something to be afraid of. On this journey, she began to share her struggles, what she was learning and her passion for healing food. For Michelle, the best thing about Spirit Junkie Masterclass is the community, the powerful spirit junkie tribe that keeps her motivated and keeps her energy up. The class also gave her the tools to apply spiritual principles to her business routine and gave her the kick to take action, come out of the spiritual business closet, and step into what she really felt called to do. Now, she's a mind, body and soul stylist, a motivator, life coach and speaker who supports people to transform their lives from the inside out. Michelle's powerful self-love practices: Affirmations spoken out loud in front of the mirror Prayer - which helps you to connect with the universe Recognize that divinity is already within you Forgive yourself and others Cultivate trust in your intuition and in

The number one thing people struggle with when they start their heart-centered business is feeling like it's not ok to charge for their services. You've got to get over that. There's nothing spiritual about you not being able to pay your rent. The first step is awareness. Tune in and get clear about what your belief is around money and making money for something that you love. Write them down, look at them. You'll probably find most of these beliefs aren't even yours, they come from things you heard in your childhood. Let them go, forgive them, release them. Ep 263263: How to Reprogram & Repopulate Your Gut Microbiome for Optimal Wellness with Dr. Marvin Singh

If you're struggling with your health, chances are it started in your gut. Supporting your microbiome is the first step towards optimal wellness. What's in your gut? What is your microbiome? Basically, it's the community of friendly bacteria living in your gut. And they rule everything - from releasing hormones and neurotransmitters, to affecting how you think and feel. If you take care of them, they will take care of you. The gut keeps you safe from autoimmune conditions, like multiple sclerosis, and chronic diseases. Why? First, you need to know that 70% of your immune system is in your gut. Inflammation, which is the root cause of disease, begins in the gut microbiome. Your gut bacteria creates inflammatory responses as a result of certain triggers - usually a combination of diet, stress, medications, toxins etc. Chronic inflammation happens when the immune system doesn't shut off this response, and ends up attacking itself. By giving the microbiome what it needs, you can stop this inflammatory response, and reverse chronic disease and autoimmune conditions. The composition of your gut is completely unique to you. That means that your journey to healing will be different to someone else's. It's no use simply jumping on the latest health trend. You need to take a closer look at your body to work out the approaches that will work for you. This means working with someone who understands the gut microbiome and how to heal it. The Gut Doctor Dr. Marvin Singh is an integrative gastroenterologist. He went to med school, but he wasn't a healthy doctor. He was overweight and had early signs of fatty liver disease. As he reflected on this, he realized how little he knew about nutrition. So he enrolled in an integrative medicine fellowship, and discovered there's more to health than the standard pharmaceutical methods. He began applying what he'd learnt to his own life and within 3 months he had lost 40 pounds. He realized he could help people heal themselves by taking a comprehensive approach - one that brings together nutrition, genetics and meditation. So now he combines some of the conventional methods with holistic, integrative medicine and nutritional genetics to guide his patients back towards total wellness. Your Lifestyle and Your Gut Although we're all different, we all share one commonality: if you give your body the chance to do what it wants to do, what it's naturally designed to do, then it will do the best it can. The body is designed to heal itself if you give it the tools it needs. And while those tools differ slightly from person to person, there are certain common approaches that will work for everyone. Diet and nutrition play a huge role, but so does your overall quality of life. Dr. Singh begins with a back to basics look at your lifestyle: How are you sleeping? How much are you exercising? Are you having fun? Are you stressed? Dr. Singh's Tips for Healing: Take it easy in the beginning, trying to do everything at once will be too overwhelming and cause stress. Start with one or two changes a week. Give up sugar - sugar feeds the bad bacteria in your gut and creates microbiome imbalances. Fill up on fiber - fiber feeds the good bacteria in your gut and helps it produce healing chemicals. Reduce stress - stress chronically suppresses the diversity of your microbiome. Your thoughts can change the composition of your microbiome. At the same time, the composition of your microbiome can change your thoughts and emotions. It's a two-way super highway. That's why meditation and mindset are a key part of healing. Nutritional genetics will work out your genes, microbiome composition and food sensitivities to help you find which foods are best for you. Work with a doctor who understands the microbiome - like Dr. Singh! Dr. Singh's message is an optimistic one: everyone can get well, you just have to work with someone who understands you and helps you get to that point. Remember that the path to wellness is not a punishment, you can have fun while learning and trying new things. Check out Dr. Singh's free e-book, the 4-Week Gut Reset, or send him a message on social media. Ep 261261: Angels, Ghosts, Spirit-Pets and Beyond with Celebrity Psychic Laura Powers

E

Ever since she was a she was a child, Laura Powers saw ghosts and spirits. She knew this made her different, so she tried to block out and ignore her gift. But her sight only got stronger and more intense. In college, things got too much - she sometimes couldn't tell between ghosts and "real" people. This took her to breaking point, physically and spiritually. But she fought back, by tackling her health (check out Episode 260 to find out how she healed her body from the inside) and by learning to connect with the angelic presences all around. We all go through tough times, and sometimes this can be a lonely experience. But if you're feeling stuck, it's ok to ask for guidance. It's ok to ask angels. Who are angels? Angels are divine beings of light, souls that have crossed over and returned here as guides and helpers. They are here to help us with our life missions. They're not limited by physical reality, so they can do many things at once. They WANT to help. And they can assist you with anything - whether it's landing that dream job or finding a parking spot. How do you ask? Just make sure you're clear and specific about the help you want, and speak it out loud. They are listening. Busting the fortune teller myth Let's bust a myth right now: a psychic is a NOT fortune teller. We have free will and choices. Psychics can't really tell the future. There might be a general plan for you, but ultimately you decide what happens in your life. When Laura gives a reading, she does it based on what she senses from you right now - however, you can change that path by making different choices, if you want to. You can manifest whatever you desire. Yes, it's easy to get stuck into societally acceptable goals and lose sight of what makes you truly happy, what you're really passionate about. When you learn to listen to your higher self and your guides, you align with what's meant to be your path and purpose. Laura can help you connect with that higher you. Click here to book a psychic reading with Laura. Pets - your soul tribe and spirit guides: Did you know your pets say a lot about you? They're part of your soul tribe, and chances are you were connected in a previous life. Your dog might have been your horse, your cat might have been your sister. If your pet is troubled, they're mirroring something that is going on in your life, that you might not even be aware of. If they've crossed over, they still want to communicate with you and protect you. Tune into this episode to hear Laura connecting with Alli's dog Charlotte and Vince's childhood pet D.O.G., and the jaw-dropping messages they have for their owners from the other side. You can book a reading with Laura and connect with your pets, whether they're still with you or have passed on. Learning from past lives: What can you learn from your past life? Tons. By looking at what happened in previous lives we can better understand what's happening in our life today. Whatever's happening right now, we've already gone through it in the past. If you have trouble with boundaries, receiving, or relationships - often counselling doesn't go deep enough because it only deals with your present state. But if you can get into your ancestral past, then you can get insight into what you need to learn and how you can heal. Traumatic experiences from past lives could be dictating phobias in your present, and letting those experiences go can zap those fears into nothingness. Laura does past life readings to connect you with your past life and help you thrive in the present. True Crime: Do police work with psychics? Maybe they should… Laura also helps families who have been victims of crime, to discover the truth and let go. Tune in to hear her readings about these crimes: Did Stephen Avery murder that woman in Making a Murder? Missing Maura Murray - Where is she? Is she alive? Is Michael Jackson really a child molester? Ultimately, we all have the power of psychic vision… but we lose it early on because society doesn't accept it. If you want to unblock your gifts, check out Laura's psychic training! She'll be back for a special Halloween episode to talk about ghosts, spirits, and the afterlife. We can't wait! Ep 260260: Healing Toxic Emotions, Losing 60 Pounds and The Power of Intuition with Celebrity Psychic Laura Powers

Laura Powers was born in the same part of France as one of the world's most famous psychics: Joan of Arc. In a sense, it was her destiny to become a clairvoyant. But just like all journeys, Laura had to overcome many obstacles before finding her true path. Having been thin all her life, at 30 years old Laura was on the edge of obesity. She had gained a ton of weight, and nothing she did was helping her lose it. She had bad skin, sleep problems, leaky gut, and PCOS. She was also unemployed and in a toxic marriage. So how did she heal her body and transform her life to become a celebrity psychic, model, writer, actress, singer, producer and podcaster? She tuned in, listened to her intuition, and connected with her guardian angels. There are angels everywhere, just waiting for you to reach out and ask for guidance. When she did, they answered. Knowing she wasn't alone gave Laura the courage to make choices from a place of love and hope. She transformed her diet, quitting diary, soy and wheat. Did you know gluten is one of the major factors in inflammation? And where there's inflammation, there's chronic disease. For Laura, this inflammation was so severe than after she quit wheat, she didn't just lose weight, she dropped two shoe sizes! And then she discovered the she had parasites (Laura used Dr. Todd's Microbe Formulas to get rid of these, and a huge tape worm!). But healing has to be holistic to be complete - that means you have to go beyond diet and exercise to really heal. Take excess weight, for example. The body stores toxins in fat cells, as a way of protecting your organs from toxic damage. So if you're in a toxic situation, or surrounded by toxic people, your body hangs on to that fat - no amount of dieting and working out will help. Until you do the inner work. When Laura left her marriage, she lost 30 pounds almost instantly. Your emotions literally change the chemical structure of your cells with every single thought. If you don't believe us, check out The Hidden Messages in Water. This groundbreaking work involved meditating over water, sending it either love or hate, and then taking photographs of the water molecules. The water that had been loved showed perfectly crystalized patterns. The water that had been hated was chaotic, misshapen and fragmented. We are made up of over 80% water. So what do you think is happening to your body when you are constantly hating it, or if you're stuck in self-doubt, or are always criticizing yourself or someone else? Or if you're always around negative people? Exactly. That's why it's so important to do the inner work, and take a step back from toxic relationships. Connecting with your intuition and psychic wisdom really helps with this. How to access psychic wisdom: Find some quiet time and pay attention to your intuitive messages. Don't be afraid - you're not trapped in any situation. Ask angels for guidance - they're all around, just waiting to help you. Practice, the Universe is always trying to communicate with you. If you pay attention, you'll notice the signs. It's a conversation: ask! Book a psychic reading with Laura. On the next episode, Laura's back to talk about ghosts, angels and manifesting! Make sure you tune in! Ep 259259: How Hal Elrod Healed Cancer and Overcame Two near Death Experiences

E

What if every day you could elevate your consciousness, and create miracles in your life? Beating cancer can seem like a miracle. But it IS possible, and Hal Elrod is proof of this. When Hal was 20, he had a car crash and died - he was clinically dead for 6-minutes. When he woke up from a 6-day coma, he found out he had 11 broken bones, brain damage and, according to the doctors, was never going to walk again. But he decided right there to maintain the faith that he was going to walk, and that he was going to do everything in his power to make it happen. Within 3 weeks of the car crash, he was taking his first steps. That marked the beginning of his life's work. But it wasn't an easy ride. In 2007 Hal was in a tough spot. He'd lost half his clients, lost his house, he was broke and depressed. So he started looking into what the world's most successful people do, and designed a morning ritual of self-improvement. Within 2 months, he'd doubled his income, completed an ultra-marathon, overcome depression and totally changed his life. To his wife, he said "It feels like a miracle." That's how The Miracle Morning was born. You might feel that you're not a morning person - most of us feel the same! But how you begin your day will either put you in a sub-optimal physical, mental and emotional state, or an optimal one. Start your day at your best, and you can give your best in everything you do. This will reflect in every aspect of your life. But how? You need simple, daily strategies that can be easily implemented. In The Miracle Morning e-book, Hal breaks down exactly what you need to do to begin uplifting your mornings, and uplifting your life. But that's only the beginning of the story. Just 2 years ago, Hal was diagnosed with acute lymphotoxin leukemia - a rare cancer with a 30% survival rate. Not only that, but Hal also had a genetic condition that caused his cells to divide and replicate rapidly, making the cancer spread even faster. He had a collapsed lung, his kidneys were failing, and his heart was surrounded with fluid. He was told he had a 70-90% chance of dying within a few months. Going without chemo was not an option - his oncologist told him that the cancer was too fast, and if he didn't have chemo, he would die within a week. After doing his research, Hal decided to have the treatment, while at the same time implementing every holistic practice he could to counter the negative effects. And it worked. The cancer went into remission. Hal's cancer-healing process: No sugar More greens Lots of supplements (food-based) Acupuncture Ozone sauna Beamer mat Coffee enemas Lymphatic massage Read other people's healing stories (check the links section for ideas) Beyond all these methods is mindset. You need to believe that you can beat cancer: Unwavering faith - faith is a loaded word, it's elusive and unreliable, it's a bit like hope, it's fear-based. But faith in yourself and your limitless potential is a whole other story. Faith moves your goals from possible to probable. Extraordinary effort - be committed to give it everything you have, and be ready to keep going. Hal's new book, The Miracle Equation: The Two Decision That Move Your Biggest Goals from Possible to Probably to Inevitable, is your process for goal achievement. It will help you step out of your comfort zone to pursue your biggest goals and dreams. Use it in conjunction with The Miracle Morning and you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Ep 258258: Cancer Warriors: Amazing Stories of Overcoming Cervical, Bladder, and Breast Cancer – Part 2

E

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, it feels like the end of the world. But it doesn't have to be. Our guests didn't just overcome cancer naturally, they used it as a platform from which to be a voice for positive change. Pretty powerful stuff! Amanda Deming - Healing cervical cancer - Episode 8 Cervical cancer killed nearly 4,000 women last year. It's the second most common cancer among women. Conventional treatments, like surgery, chemo and radiation, aren't just poisonous, they often lead to infertility. When Amanda was diagnosed with cervical cancer, she was determined not to go down that road. Instead, she chose a raw vegan diet, meditation, and yoga. She's now cancer-free. Jeff Witzeman - Cancer can be killed - Episode 190 When Jeff's wife was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer, she was told her life would change forever: surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, a life without an essential organ. Instead of taking the doctor's word for it, they travelled to Germany to treat the cancer to a spa. Thanks to juicing, a plant-based diet, hyperthermia (targeted heat therapy), oxygen therapy, intravenous vitamins, and colonics, she was completely cancer-free in just one month. Tracey Edmonds - The truth about healing cancer - Episode 226 Just like Alli, Tracey lost both her parents to preventable diseases: her mom died from cancer and shortly after, her dad died from a heart attack. This made her determined to be a pillar of health and to spread the message through as many media outlets as possible. She launched the wellness website Alright Now to give people the tools they need to live their healthiest life - from nutrition and fitness to relationships and parenting. We think she rocks! Jill Tomback - Beating breast cancer - Episodes 26, 27 and 28 Jill and I were room-mates when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer at just 25 years old. She endured four years of conventional treatment, including chemo and surgery. But since then, she's taken the holistic route: she's a plant-powered Pilates superstar, an avid juicer and a big fan of the Gerson therapy. As of this year, she's celebrating 9 years cancer-free. Ep 257257: Cancer Warriors: Incredible Stories of Overcoming Ovarian, Colon, Breast, and Kidney Cancer - Part 1

E

Cancer. It's the kind of diagnosis that no one wants to hear. And yet, cancer doesn't have to be a death sentence. For our guests, cancer was an opportunity to build up their health from the inside, and be a force for positive change. Evita Ramparte - Healing ovarian cancer - Episode 57 When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Evita made the brave decision not to have surgery, radiation or chemotherapy - against her doctor's wishes. She knew that toxic food and toxic thinking had caused her cancer, and she was determined to heal herself. Thanks to detoxing, fasting, and a lot of inner work, she did exactly that. In just 4 months, her tumor had disappeared, she lost 50 pounds, and felt better than ever before. Chris Wark - Beating colon cancer - Episode 236 At just 26, Chris was told he had stage 3 cancer - it started as a tumor the size of a golf ball in his colon, and spread to his lymph nodes. He was given one option: chemotherapy. But poisoning himself back to health didn't make sense to Chris. Just like Evita, he realized he'd created his cancer through his diet choices. So he switched from a standard American diet to a 100% vegan, 100% raw diet. The cancer disappeared. Now, he teaches others how to do the same. Janette Murray-Wakelin - Overcoming breast cancer - Episode 52 Janette was given just six months to live when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. So she decided to use that time to change her life completely. Instead of accepting the chemo, she took the holistic approach: she went 100% raw vegan, oxygenated her blood, and started loving herself. After all, how can you heal yourself unless you love yourself first? Within 6 months, Janette was cancer-free. And as if that wasn't amazing enough, she then ran a marathon, every day, for 366 consecutive days. We think she's pretty incredible! Jolen Philbrook - Healing breast cancer and kidney cancer - Episode 193 When it comes to surviving, Jolen's an expert! She overcame cancer twice - first a rare type of breast cancer, then kidney cancer. At the same time, she was fighting a custody battle with no income. Most people would crumble under that kind of pressure, but Jolen pulled through. How? It all comes down to mindset. And power shoes. Ep 256256: Q&A with Dr. Roy Vongtama: Healing Mind Body & Spirit to Prevent & Reverse Cancer

E

Dr. Roy specializes in cancer prevention and reversal. But he doesn't do it in the traditional way. He combines his background as a Buddhist, western medical training, in depth research into alternative healing, mental health therapies, and meditation, into the House of Health, a scientifically backed up system you can use to heal yourself. In today's episode, Dr. Roy answers Food Heals Nation questions on health, healing, and cancer. #1. How do you know if you have physical/emotional/spiritual issues you need to deal with? Look at your present life. How are things going? If they're not going well, there's something you need to look at. In Dr. Roy's book, Healing Before You're Cured, you'll find 10 questions to help you figure out what is going on, and strategies to help you address whatever comes up. You can also tune into Episode 255, where Dr. Roy shares some simple strategies to quickly release negative emotions. #2. How can we deal with chronic stress? Chronic stress can lead to disease. And we are constantly stressed these days with all the demands we have to deal with - work, social media, expectations. But what is disease? It's a state of not having ease. We need to get out of chronic stress into a state of ease. How? Simple. Inhale, tense your body completely, and double exhale. Do it three times. Your body will automatically respond to the physical tensing by relaxing. Here's another strategy. In your brain, the limbic system deals with fight of flight - when you're stressed, it sends a signal to your adrenal glands to release epinephrine, which in turn causes a physical reaction. It's important to get out of that part of your brain, otherwise you carry on the stress response throughout the day, or longer. Here's how you shift to another part of your brain: Close your eyes and picture the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. Inhale that picture into your brain. Exhale. Smell the most beautiful thing you've ever smelt. Inhale that smell. Exhale. This exercise connects you to something that is beautiful to you. These memories are in the cortex part of your brain. You cannot focus on two parts of your brain at the same time. By getting into the cortex, you move out of the limbic, and therefore out of that feeling of stress. You shut down the stress response and connect with peace. #3. Where do you start after a cancer diagnosis? First, don't choose one or the other. You have both eastern and western methodologies at your disposal. Eastern medicine is over 7000-year-old, and deals with the mental, emotional and spiritual side. Western medicine deals with technology and drugs, and has billions of dollars' worth of research behind it. Dr. Roy's advice: do both. Second, stop thinking about death. In life, nobody makes it out alive, cancer or no cancer. No one lives forever. Take death off the plate, and focus instead on how you want this to go. Thirdly, take ownership. This is your life. Make a decision and get on with it. Now you're in a solid place to move forward. Things will start to come to you, depending on what you need to heal on your journey. #4. How can we help people who don't want to hear about the holistic part of healing? You can't treat someone who doesn't want to be treated. You can't fix someone. If you want to help, you have to take yourself and your needs about this situation out of the equation. You have to respect that person's needs. Instead of telling them what you think is right, you have to take a step back and ask them what they need or want to know. Don't be afraid to be vulnerable and share how important it is to you. But accept that they might not want your help or your advice. For healing to take place, there has to be free will, that person has to want to heal. Pushing information on them will only build resentment. Accept where they are, lead by example and stay hopeful - because sometimes people change their minds. If you want to know more, pick up Dr. Roy's new book Healing Before You're Cured, which is packed with simple evidence-based techniques you can use to heal the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual areas of your life. Ep 255255: Healing Before You're Cured: The Link Between Unresolved Emotions & Cancer With Dr. Roy Vongtama

E

Very few guests get us as excited as Dr. Roy Vongtama. He's doing the kind of work Alli wishes she'd known about when her parents were diagnosed with cancer. But back then, she lived in a small town with no access to green juices, no meditation studios, and no understanding of the emotional component in disease or the power of the body to heal itself. The connection between trauma and cancer is not spiritual la la land. It is scientifically proven. Take ACES, the Adverse Childhood Experience Study. Scientists found that people who had experienced just one emotional trauma were at higher risk of disease, and actually doubled their risk of cancer. And it isn't just trauma. The way you think can suppress your genes, which means that emotion doesn't leave your body. It stays trapped within your cells. Resentment, for example, which is wrapped up in the thought "This shouldn't have happened." When you keep that energy within you, it eventually turns to anger, then rage. And rage is destructive. Exactly like cancer, it destroys everything in its path, including its own home. Do you have rage trapped in your body? Dr. Roy has 3 questions to help you figure that out: How is your relationship with your parents? How are your current relationships? Have you ever experienced abuse? Go to www.MDRoy.com to get a full list of questions. If you fit in these criteria, you may need to address the issue. You have to own it. You have to express it. You have to accept it. Because then you can do something about it. You can get rid of these trapped emotions by following Dr. Roy's Burn Page practice - it's the same thing as Alli's Write and Burn process. Go to a quiet room, without your phone. Write whatever comes up for 30 minutes. Anything that flows through your mind. Get everything out of your system and out of your body. Even if it begins with "this is stupid", just keep going and deeper stuff will come to the surface. Once you're done, tear up the pages. This is transformational. You're getting rid of trapped negativity and reconnecting with peace. It might be painful to begin with, but change happens when the pain happens. You have to feel these emotions in order to heal them. Dr. Roy grew up as the son of two doctors, and was trained in western medicine. He soon noticed that many of his cancer patients were struggling with unexpressed emotions and past trauma. This spurred him on to go deeper into the research to discover what causes cancer in the first place, and what we can do to heal ourselves. Diet is important, but that's just one small part of it. Health is physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. That means healing needs to involve all those aspects. His book Healing Before You're Cured is the result of his research: evidence-based strategies to help you heal all parts of your life. SPECIAL OFFER FOR FOOD HEALS NATION Text "HEAL" to 345345 and Dr. Roy will send you everything you need to discover how healthy you are, what's missing, and what you can do to heal. You can also sign up to his free email course by going to royvmd.com. Ep 254254: Overcoming Anxiety & Depression Series Part 2 - Conversations With a Vegan Entrepreneur, a Plant-Based Chef & a DNA Energy Healer

Part 2 of our Overcoming Anxiety Series welcomes three of my favorite people, and they have a lot of expertise to share about this topic. Keep reading because all three guests have special gifts for Food Heals Nation! Whitney Lauritsen does a lot of work in the wellness world. Her brand EcoVeganGal helps people go plant-based and be more eco-conscious. She also runs the wellness coaching business Wellevatr with Jason Wrobel. Whitney struggled with depression through college. For her, overcoming anxiety and depression is an ongoing process. Whenever she feels those emotions, she looks for the opportunity to go within. It's about slowing down, trying to identify the source of those feelings. Even if you don't know their root, just giving yourself some space can help lift you out of a sad mood. Mellissa Glazewski is a private plant-based chef, helping people to eat healthier and thrive. She's the founder of ForkinPlants.com. Growing up with alcoholic parents meant Melissa had a lot of anxiety and depression issues. The pharmaceuticals she was prescribed just made her worse. So she quit them and went down the holistic route, using herbal remedies, diet and meditation to improve her mood. The best supplement she's found is ashwagandha, an adaptogen that helps your body adapt to and deal with stress. We love Four Sigmatic's instant coffee with added ashwagandha (coffee without the jitters!). Whitney & Melissa tips to overcome anxiety and depression: Accept where you are and that it will pass. Shine a light on your light - ask a friend to say something positive about you, read out positive affirmations, have positive conversations. Surround yourself with your tribe. You are the epitome of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose your friends wisely! Call people who are uplifting, who will listen, who light you up. Be conscious about who you reach out to, especially when you're feeling low. Don't wallow. Are you choosing to feel down because it is more comfortable and familiar? Be committed to feeling better. You can empower yourself and decide you are going to take your mental health into your own hands. When you do that, anything you do to lift your mood will be doubly powerful, and you will begin to see results fast. Eat clean. Your gut is your second brain. If it's not right, how can you expect your brain to function properly? If you're feeling anxious or depressed, it could be diet related. Meditate every day. This can be a tough one, especially if you have a naturally active mind - that's where Alli's Write & Burn process can really help. Overcome anxiety with write & burn: If you find it hard to meditate, try Alli's Write & Burn process: Make sure you're alone - leave your phone out of the room. Grab some paper (you're not going to keep this, so don't use your beautiful journal). Write down "I am angry/sad/depressed because …." And just pour everything out onto that page. It could be that person who cut you up on the road, or something deeper. When you write it down, it brings out all the feelings. You're freeing your body from those stuck emotions. Once you're done, it's time to burn the pages (or rip them up) and get rid of that energy. You will feel like you have had an emotional release. This is the perfect time to meditate because your mind will be clear. Have you inherited your anxiety from your ancestors? We all carry energy from our ancestors. It can be great energy, but it can also energy that holds us back. Lisa Thomas is a DNA energy healer. She helps clients clear inherited patterns and release the anxiety tags that keep them from thriving. Lisa had a lot of anxiety and depression because she didn't own who she was. When we don't fully accept who we are, it triggers anxiety. Anxiety also shows up when we need to be in control. Check out Episode 215 for Lisa's story. Lisa's 3 steps to overcome anxiety and depression: Count to 12. Say each number, pause and take a breath. The number 12 is a balancing number. It connects you to your heart. This practice allows you to pause enough to get connected to your body. Often anxiety is just a disconnect between spirit and body. Take the palm of your hand and put it flat on the top of your head. Close your hand so it pulls a handful of hair. Pulse it so that it lifts the hair at the root. This tells your body to get back into connection with your spirit. For men, use the knuckles of your dominant hand to tap along the top of your head. Heaven and Earth exercise - this practice will bring you back to center. Mother Earth has energy, Source has knowingness. Combine the two and you have balance. Reach up with your right hand, open and close your hand, and as you pull down your arm, imagine you are pulling Heaven's energy down through the top of your head. Stop at your heart space. With both arms and with your hands open, scoop up the energy of Mother Earth through the bottom of your feet, all the way up to your heart, where it mixes with

Ep 253253: Overcoming Anxiety Series Part 1: Best Tips to Combat Anxiety Naturally With Empowerment Strategist JJ Flizanes and CBD Entrepreneur Beau

Over 40 million Americans are affected by anxiety - that's around 20% of the population. Whether it's relationship anxiety, workplace anxiety, social media anxiety or general anxiety, it has the power to zap your quality of life. So, what can we do about it? According to empowerment strategist, fitness expert, author and podcast host JJ Flizanes, we've been dealing with it all wrong. Pharmaceuticals are not the solution. The first step to overcoming anxiety is to transform how we think about it. We go through hundreds of emotions every single day. Unless these are properly processed, they remain stuck in the body, eventually creating discomfort, disease, and, you guessed it, anxiety. Anxiety is basically the body's way of telling you something needs to be addressed. Seeing anxiety this way means that it no longer has power over us. Instead of being a victim, it becomes something to be worked with, and something that can lead to greater wellbeing. Looking at anxiety differently gives you more tools with which you can address the root cause of the problem. And if you get to the root, you can stop it from happening. JJ's 3-step anxiety-busting process: You need to be able to have an awareness and consciousness of what is going on. Feel it to heal it! Identify your feelings - go deep. Download JJ's Feelings and Needs list, look at the 100 words on there and compile a list of how you feel. Understand what need isn't being met. Anytime you have a negative emotion, it's because you have a need that is not being met. Figure out what that is so you can start healing it. List or come up with strategies to get your needs met, without anyone else being different. It cannot be about anyone else but you. How can you address your needs for yourself? Check out Episode 118 of JJ's Spirit Purpose & Energy podcast for 3 steps to effective communication. Work with JJ and manifest your dream life: Check out JJ's next event in LA on October 11th to 13th. The Manifestation Boot Camp will teach you how to embody the law of attraction on all levels - creative, practical and emotional. Anxiety and CBD Inner work goes a long way to helping you combat anxiety. Another thing you can do is add anxiety-busting supplements, like CBD. Before he became a CBD entrepreneur, Beau owned a bar with his friend Mike. They were always on the clock, always on the go - it was a high stress lifestyle which, unsurprisingly, created a lot of anxiety. They wanted something to help them deal with it naturally, so they began experimenting with CBD. It worked, but the products were unpleasant to take, impractical or messy. So they decided to create something that made CBD accessible, tasty, and easy to take. Sunday Scaries was born, on a mission to make the world a better place one gummy at a time. CBD will not get you high. It contains medicinal compounds that reduce inflammation, nausea, pain and anxiety. CBD is an adaptogenic, which means that it helps the body heal itself. It's completely safe and non-toxic, something that the World Health Organization has now confirmed. Sunday Scaries are infused with high quality CBD from Colorado, and added vitamins D3 and B12 (we love the Vegan AF ones!). They also have a range of CBD products for your pet. Beau's tips to overcome anxiety: 5-minute journal in the morning. Write down three things you're grateful for, three things that will make the day great, and two affirmation for the day. 5-minute journal at night: three things that were amazing today, three ways you could have improved the day, and how you can set yourself up for success the next day. Meditate in the morning and do some form of exercise. Do not open social media or your email first thing in the morning. Anxiety can't exist when you're grateful. If you start feeling anxious, stop and take a moment to think about three things you're grateful for. Ep 252252: Puerto Rico: Masterminds, Holistic Dentistry and Veganizing San Juan (Travel Series Part 3 of 3)

E

This special episode comes from Puerto Rico Mastermind, where Alli met amazing womenpreneurs whose businesses have a positive impact on the world. If you want to start a podcast and you need the next level of inspiration, coming to this event is one of the most impactful thing you can do. Gena: Holistic Dentistry Mercury fillings are implicated in the development of all sorts of diseases, like diabetes and Alzheimer's. Women exposed to them have a higher risk of having a child with ADHD and neurological issues. Dr. Gena Schultheis used to be a traditional dentist, prescribing mercury fillings. Now, she takes them out and helps people back to health through detoxing, a healthy diet and holistic dentistry. How can you detox from mercury? You have to go beyond diet, because mercury embeds itself in organs and is hard to get rid of. Chelation, saunas, Epsom salts, detoxifying supplements, chlorella and cilantro are all good options - the best thing is to work with a practitioner who will give you a personalized protocol. To find a holistic dentist, check out the Holistic Dental Association, or the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Why Gena loves Puerto Rico Mastermind Learning from one another, working together to turn the world into a collaborative supportive place. Sue: Co-creation as a key to success Sue Dyer is president of OrgMetrics LLC. When she started working in construction, there was no spirit of collaboration - at her first meeting there was a fist fight in the bathroom! But for the last 40 years, Sue has been changing the culture of construction from combative to collaborative. Because let's face it, we can achieve much more when we work together. In fact, you can be 40% more successful when you collaborate. Why Sue loves Puerto Rico Mastermind Co-creation is what you need to up-level every aspect of your life. That's why masterminds work. When you collaborate and co-create, you're accessing a collective wisdom that you don't connect with on your own. Dorothy - Your success helps the world Dorothy Illson helps her clients bust through limiting beliefs about money, increase their income, and maximize their impact. Many of us feel shame about wanting to be successful and make money. But there shouldn't be shame in that - the more abundance you create in your life, the more leverage you have to make an impact on the world. The desire to make money and to make a positive difference are not opposing ambitions. You need one to achieve the other. If you're miserable and struggling financially, you don't have the emotional space or time to go out and make an impact in the world. Dorothy promotes for-purpose businesses, where giving back is built into the business model. This is something consumers are already beginning to demand - they want to buy from a brand that makes the world a better place. We love her podcast Do Well and Do Good. Dorothy's Take Away from the Puerto Rico Mastermind Don't be afraid to be vulnerable and authentic. That's the most powerful thing you can do. Bonus Travel Tip Alli's must-have when traveling is Organify green juice powder. This was a life-saver in Puerto Rico. When you travel, you don't know where the next juice bar will be. Or if there's a Whole Foods. Or if there will even BE any healthy options. But with jet lag, travel stress, and lack of sleep, you need to give your body as many nutrients as possible to stay well and make the most of your time. Organifi is a detoxifying blend herbs and vegetables like chlorella, moringa, spirulina, mint, beets, matcha, wheatgrass, ashwagandha, turmeric, coconut water and more. Perfect for jumpstarting your energy… and kicking those wine hangovers to the curb. Food Heals Nation listeners get 20% off their first order with coupon code foodheals. Ep 251251: Vegan, Organic, Healthy, Time-Saving, Headache-Curing Travel Tips (Travel Series Part 2 of 3)

E

In part 2 of our Round Table, we say goodbye to Melissa (our amazing PA, check her out at ForkinPlants) and hello to the beautiful and super talented vegan chef Leslie Durso! She joins our panel of plant-based peeps, Whitney Lauritsen, a vegan entrepreneur and coach on a mission to help conscious brands grow, and Erica Mandy, a journalist and founder of theNewsWorthy. Travel tip #2 It's all about downloading what you need. Make sure you download your podcast episodes (or videos, or ebooks) so you have something to listen to, read or watch while you travel. Alli uses the Overcast App. If you need to work, download the web pages you need to reference. Google drive can be accessed offline so you can work on your documents without needing wifi. Travel tip #3 When you sit on the plane, make sure you wipe the seat, window, and tray table. You really don't want to pick up germs before you're on holiday. You can also bring a natural antibacterial spray and essential oils to keep your hands clean. Travel tip #4 Make sure you stay hydrated while you travel. Whitney uses a LifeStraw - it screws onto any water bottle and will filter your water. Do not drink coffee or tea while you're travelling, caffeine will dehydrate you. Travel tip #5 To combat jet lag, CBD is your friend. It will help you sleep on the plane. Take plenty of turmeric and ginger before you travel. Their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties will knock out any germs, help regulate your body and keep it healthy on your travels. Pack some probiotics. This will help if you're going to countries where the food is not what you're used to eating. Travel tip #6 Change your sleep routine to avoid jet lag. The Jet Lag Rooster app will create a schedule for you to tell you when to go to bed, when to get sunlight, and more, so that you can avoid jet lag. You can also get blue light glasses, which block the light from the plane and help your body adjust to different time zones (Swanwick do stylish ones!). Travel tip #7 Always bring a pashmina with you - you can use it as a blanket and a pillow. It makes the perfect neck support if you wrap it around your water bottle. Travel tip #8 Bring accessories to make the flight more comfortable. Our favorite eye mask is the Dream Sleeper, it's super comfortable. We also love Sleep Buds - headphones you can sleep with! The fleece ones feel amazing. Travel tip #9 Pack healthy foods for the plane! For example, fruit & nut bars (choose those without added sugar), nuts, or fruit (like oranges or apples - but beware, you'll have to eat them before you get off the plane because some states have strict restrictions on what fruit can be brought in), cucumber and hummus, little packets of olives, or even vegan cheese and crackers. You can also tell the airplane your dietary preferences ahead of time. Travel tip #10 One of the best tips if you're travelling internationally: sign up for Global Entry and avoid the long queues. We did a little wine tasting during our panel (we absolutely love Scout & Cellar's wine selection)… and speaking of wine tasting, we'll be doing some of that on our next Italian Vegan Getaway! This is an intimate women-only retreat. You'll feel like one of the locals since Ravello is a town Leslie has been going to for years. No tourist busses, no huge groups - just 12 like-minded women. There are just a couple of spots left so if you've yet to join us…. What are you waiting for? Go to www.foodhealsnation.com/italy for all the details, or check out Leslie's Instagram stories. Or email Alli with any questions at [email protected]. Ep 250250: How Not to Die on Vacation + Our Best Travel Stories (Travel Series Part 1 of 3)

E

Who better to have on our healthy travel round table than three queens of the plant-based movement? Whitney Lauritsen is a vegan entrepreneur and coach, on a mission to help conscious brands grow. Melissa Glazewski is a private vegan chef, founder of ForkinPlants, and the organizational brain behind Food Heals. Erica Mandy is a journalist and founder of theNewsWorthy. Add a little vegan wine by Varietal group to the mix, and it's not long before we're sharing all sorts of secrets about our past! Can you guess which travel story links to each guest? She went trekking in a remote part of Arizona. But with only a compass and a map to guide her, she got lost and couldn't find her way back. She was skydiving in Australia. The moment the parachute opened, she knew something was wrong… She traveled to Portland only to find she couldn't poop for days. Her friends suggested an unusual (but delicious) relief for constipation. She got scammed the second she stepped off the plane, and nearly didn't make it out of Mexico. Basically, traveling can be lots of fun, but full of surprises! So, here's the first round of healthy travel tips. Travel Tip #1: Protect yourself from scammers: Find out all the details of your trip so you don't get taken advantage of. Wait for people to introduce themselves, ask them what hotel/car service they work for, and don't give away your information. Travel Tip #2 Get a hotel with a fridge (not a mini-fridge!) and get some vegan basics. Even if you don't have a car there might be a grocery delivery service like Instacart that can bring you everything you need for a small fee. When Alli was in Philadelphia for Podcast Movement, she got Instacart deliver organic vegan groceries. She stocked the fridge with tomatoes, hummus, avocado, Miyoko's vegan cheese and grapes and would have people over for cheese and wine! Travel Tip #3 Make sure you take your vitamins on holiday. An easy way to do this is to buy a travel pill dispenser, basically a little circular travel pill holder that you can store all your various vitamins in a compact way that is great for packing. Vitamins Alli never leaves home without are B12, vitamin C, pro-biotics, melatonin, and oxypowder (which you can only get from the Global Healing Center (don't forget the discount code is foodheals17). Travel Tip #4 Travel with CBD. CBD combats anxiety while traveling, it helps with jet lag and it's a natural alternative to sleeping pills. Suzy has the best stuff - find it at CBD Fountain. Foodheals for 20% off. Travel Tip #5 Pack your greens. Did you know 92% of Americans have a vitamin deficiency? It's important to boost your energy, cleanse your body and feel amazing any day, but even more so when you travel. Alli never leaves home without Organifi, the easiest way to eat your greens no matter where you are or what you're doing. When you wake up and drink a glass of Organifi Green Juice, you kick-start the body's processes of daily detoxing, producing natural energy, and managing stress. It's a great way to start the day with a smart choice. So, what is it? Organify is a green juice powder infused superfoods - Alli's favorite is coconut and ashwagandha. Simply mix with water and boom: you've got all the nutrients you need to jumpstart your energy, curb that jetlag and power through your day. You can get 20% discount on your first order with the coupon code foodheals. Travel Tip #6 Choose your drinks wisely. Whether you're traveling business or pleasure, you're probably going to engage in a few cocktails while you're out of town. So Alli's best advice is to choose organic biodynamic wines whenever possible. My friends at www.scoutandcellar.com know what up. Y If you want to sample the best vegan products hassle-free, then reach out to Varietal group - everything they promote is organic, biodynamic and vegan, free of sulfites and added sugar. And it's female-owned. A great way to support women entrepreneurs. Travel Tip #7 Increase Your Dose of Vitamin C. This helps boost your immune system while traveling. It also helps with jet lag and you can't overdose on it! Next time… we've got another guest joining the panel: vegan chef Leslie Durso. But you'll have to wait until the next episode for her healthy travel tips! What you'll learn in Episode 250: How to check your wine is vegan (and why you need to!) Our secret truths revealed Who went trekking in Arizona and got lost in the dessert for hours? Who got scammed at the airport and nearly didn't make it out of Mexico? Who couldn't poop in Portland? Who went skydiving over Australia? A delicious remedy for constipation How to get vegan groceries on holiday, hassle-free One supplement that will tune out travel-anxiety Our favorite moments: @2:00 Back to the wine! @9:23 Who's the hip hop dancer? @23:10 I love it when Melissa tells me stories @32:46 Where horror movies happen Available anywhere you listen to podcasts! Ep 249249: Transforming the Health Care System and Achieving Your Health Goals with Meghan Nechrebecki

Millions of people across the country don't have access to proper healthcare. The results can be devastating. Given only a handful of expensive options, patients are faced with the possibility of bankruptcy, and don't even have the necessary information to make educated decisions about their treatment. Navigating the healthcare system can be a nightmare. But one person is changing all that. Meet Meghan Nechrebecki, founder and CEO of Heath Care Transformation, an organization centered around improving health outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and empowering people to take control of their health. Meghan was always passionate about healthcare. She wanted to be a doctor, but while doing her Master's in public health, she saw the issues patients are faced with: lack of access, no information, unaffordable insurance. She decided she didn't want to be another cog in the wheel, she wanted to fix the system from the inside. Instead of going to medical school, she began working with insurance companies, health startups and even the UCL health system. Through this, she saw just how the healthcare system lets people down. She also spotted a huge opportunity for prevention - because many of the diseases we face can be avoided through lifestyle changes. The US healthcare system is basically centered around sick care. Little attention is given to preventative care, or helping people lead healthier lives so they don't get sick in the first place. And let's face it, being healthy these days is a real battle. We drive everywhere, we sit all day, we're stressed, we eat a standard American diet. Meghan is trying to shift that focus. She works with businesses and individuals to spread the health message as far and wide as possible. Her 6-Week Wellness Transformation Program gives people the tools they need to achieve health success, whatever that looks like to them. It's entirely online, which makes it super easy to fit into even the busiest schedule. You'll get access to a wellness coach, and modules cover everything from where you are now, to nutrition, understanding calories, choosing the best ingredients, food quality, meal prep, sustainability over time, healthy habits… Meghan has also authored My Health Care Transformation Handbook, an absolutely gorgeous tiffany blue handbook to take on your journey to better health. In there, you'll find a ton of information about prevention, managing your clinical encounters, how to document your medication, what happens with hospital stays, advance care planning, and health insurance. All the tools you need to achieve your greatest health. What are the issues with the US healthcare system and how can it be changed? Price is the major problem. Some people can't even afford to start healthcare. There's a lack of transparency. Meghan helps patients understand where they can get the best quality care for the best price. There's no universal health insurance coverage. A lot of people are left out. These people don't get the care they need to begin with, so they often end up being hospitalized for something that could have been easily dealt with earlier. The financial incentives are wrong. Right now, clinicians ae incentivized to do more: more surgeries, more days in the hospital, more pharmaceuticals. The sicker the patient, the more money the clinicians get. Some doctors don't even know about the other options like nutrition and lifestyle changes. The way the healthcare system was build has made it what it is today. It started out as being an employer-based bonus. This meant it left out the unemployed or those working as freelancers. The best and most cost-effective kind of system is one that is universal. Going forward, healthcare will move in the right direction, thanks to people like Meghan who are working tirelessly to make the healthcare system fair, and health-focused. Big up girlfriend. Ep 248248: The Truth about Breast Implant Illness and Loving Yourself Whatever Your Size

Like so many of us, Christina Roulund-Dennis was insecure about her body. Believing she would feel more confident, she saved up and got breast implants at 23. Back then, there was no real data about the surgery, it was supposed to be completely safe. And for five years, she was perfectly ok… even though the boost in confidence only lasted a few months. But then things started going wrong. Exhausted, forgetful, depressed, anxious - she put it down to being a new mum, but over the years it got worse. Hair loss, joint pain, no libido, out of control hormones, shortness of breath. She wasn't the fun bubbly energetic woman she used to be. Desperate to avoid whatever was making her body react, she detoxed her diet and her home of anything toxic. Nothing worked… But she got lucky. One evening the news interviewed four women who had recently got explanted to heal the same symptoms she was experiencing. They'd been suffering with breast implant illness - an issue that is now recognized by an increasing number of practitioners. The toxins Christina's body was reacting to weren't from an external source. They were coming from the inside: from her implants. She decided there and then to get them removed. Christina has been explanted over 6 months now, and feels like a brand-new woman. She has energy, motivation, and is symptom-free. And what about how she looks? Christina just wanted to get her life back. "If I'm flat, I'm ok with that". Power to you sister. Why do so many of us decide to go under the knife despite the risks? We do it because we think we'll feel more whole, or womanly, or confident. We want to match up to the unrealistic ideals of beauty we see on TV or social media. But the reality is that surgery is a short-term fix. Nothing we do to our bodies externally will change how we feel internally. We must turn around the inner belief that we need to look different to be ok, or find a partner, or be happy. We have to love ourselves exactly as we are right now. Christina is on a mission to radically change thousands of lives by sharing information about breast implants and their complications. As well as being a coach for binge and emotional eaters, she's the founder of Size Happy, the hottest new self-love movement online. If you're worried about your implants, considering getting explanted, or if you're thinking of getting implants and want to know more about them, you can email Christina at [email protected]. Worried about silicone implant illness, or considering implants and want to know more about it? Go to Christina's FB group (just say you've heard of the group through the Food Heals Podcast when you ask to join) - there's a mountain of information about implants and lots of support from women going through the same thing. Read Christina's guide Discovering Breast Implant Illness - What Now? Everything you need to know about breast implant illness and what to expect after explanting. What you need to know about explanting: Both saline and silicone implants can cause breast implant illness. The FDA has said ALL breast implants are associated with a rare form of immune cancer (Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma). The implants don't have to be ruptured or leaking for you to experience symptoms. Christina's top healing foods when you're getting over breast implant illness: Bromalin - either in supplement, or pineapple - it helps reduce bruising. Arnica - helps with bruising and swelling. Apple cider vinegar - great for the gut and immune system. Celery juice in the morning on an empty stomach - powerful detoxer. Ep 247247: Healing Lyme Disease Naturally and Transforming the Health System With Adrienne Nolan-Smith

E

Sometimes it takes a traumatic experience to make us wake up to the power of food and take our health into our own hands. That's what happened to Adrienne. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease at just 11 years old. Back then, doctors didn't know much about it, or even how to recognize it. Antibiotics weren't working. But they rarely do, because Lyme disease is a spiral-shaped bacterium that acts like a virus, which confuses the body and makes it complex to heal. Adrienne's mum did not give up. After two years, thanks to integrative medicine strategies like a whole foods diet, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and bovine colostrum therapy, Adrienne was free from symptoms. Fast-forward to college, Adrienne began eating the normal student diet. The result: she lost her periods. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her and told her to just go on the birth control pill. That wasn't good enough for Adrienne. Again, she changed her diet, and again, food worked its magic. Her periods came back. But it was a more traumatic event that led Adrienne into her career as a board-certified patient advocate. Her mum suffered from severe mental health issues. She spent five years in and out of institutions, drugged up on anti-psychotics and other medications to counter the side effects. She was unable to live a normal life. She committed suicide. Isn't that the core problem with the health industry? Instead of looking at the patient and working out what might be causing the disease, doctors just throw pills at the problem. There's no health freedom when holistic options are never even mentioned. Adrienne knew from that moment that she needed to do something to change the medical system and help people wake up to the importance of diet and lifestyle. So, just a year and a half ago, she launched WellBe, a content and learning platform dedicated to helping people prevent chronic health issues, or heal them if they arise. Check it out for in-depth articles, science wrap-ups and guides to prevent chronic health issues… including a Wine Guide. Or head to the WellBe store, where you can get natural lifestyle products tried and tested by Adrienne - including a must-have gadget for wine lovers. Ep 246246: Celebrity Health Coach Christine Lusita On How To Lose Weight Successfully & Effortlessly

E

Most of us fail at dieting. Maybe we're doing it wrong. We're so busy following the latest fitness and diet trends that we completely forget to consider the most important factor in successful weight loss: who we are. It's time to forget what you think you know about dieting. Almost every diet and fitness trend can be a path to weight loss…. But is it YOUR path? If you're struggling to lose weight, you may simply be following the wrong method for you. Because let's face it: there is no one-size-fits-all diet that works for everyone. Different methods work for different people. Christine Lusita may be an expert on fitness and weight loss now, but she struggled with her weight since the age of 13. Finding her path towards health and fitness was a marathon. She was a yoyo dieter. She would always jump on the latest diet & fitness trend, and each time she would fail. It wasn't until she realized she needed to make it easy that she truly connected with her health and her body. Now, she helps other people sprint towards their wellness goals. Christine has over 15 years' experience in the health and fitness industry and regularly appears on morning shows to promote the latest food & fitness trends and, more importantly, how to make them work for you. The missing link between health success and repeated struggle is knowing who you are. What's your personality? Are you a leader, socializer, supporter or planter? What works for one personality type does not work for another. Some people love spinning classes and circuit training, other people love yoga and jogging. When you honor who you are and what you love, being healthy becomes effortless. Through her coaching, Christine helps clients realign and accept who they are, and use this to their advantage. Her motto? It's not about being perfect, it's about being better. You may not be able to get abs like J-Lo, but you can be the best version of yourself. Christine's book The Right Fit Formula delves deep into this and give step by step guidance to help you find out who you are and which health strategy fits your personality. The most important thing for successful weight loss is to do what makes you feel good. That's why Christine has launched an 80's inspired fitness brand What A Feeling Athletic Wear - that's how Christine wants people to feel after a workout. Why 80's? Because the 80's felt so magical; it was a happier, up-beat time, full of hope. Her new line complements every body type and brings a splash of color, and joy, to your workouts. We love it! Ep 245245: Veganize Your Wardrobe: The Future of Fashion is Cruelty-free, Sustainable and Ethical

We all love a good outfit. But fashion is cruel to animals, cruel to people and cruel to the planet. Especially luxury fashion, which is synonymous with fur, cashmere, leather, angora and silk. Can fashion ever be compassionate? It can now. Meg and Komie were raised vegetarian. From a very young age they understood that animals are not here for food. Also from a young age, they loved nothing more than customizing their outfits. As they started shopping, they found it nearly impossible to find clothes they liked that were also cruelty-free. That's why they created Delikate Rayne, a 100% vegan, sustainable, luxury clothing line made in LA. Their mission: to make a positive impact and give back through something people love - great fashion! And they're spreading the message, having recently been featured in the prominent fashion publication PAPER. What's so wrong with fast fashion? Firstly, the impact on animals: it's a myth that fur and leather are by-products of the meat industry. Animals are raised specifically for that purpose, they are confined in tiny cages, tortured and slaughtered for their skin. Secondly, the impact on the environment. Constantly changing trends mean there is an incredible amount of waste. The process of dying fabrics pollutes water. And finally, the social impact. If you're paying $10 for a t-shirt, how much is the person who made it getting paid? The solution? To go for a brand that is vegan, affordable, sustainable AND gorgeous… we love Delikate Rayne's fashion range that ticks all these boxes. Meg and Komie's tips for green shopping and living: Keep a reusable bottle (have a few so you always have one to hand) Shop in thrift stores - have a clear idea of what you want and then go search for it Buy high-quality timeless pieces rather than an abundance of cheap clothes Host a fashion pot-luck evening and swap clothes with your friends Check out Delikate Rayne's game changer movement in partnership with PETA. Ep 243243: Free Yourself From Cravings and Overeating with Radical Weight Loss Expert David Zappasodi

E

Diets don't work. Neither do New Year's resolutions. Just 3% of people who go on a diet successfully lose weight. Why? They're based on the idea that if you lose weight, you'll transform your life. In fact, you need to transform your life first, then the weight loss will happen. Alli was a healthy plant-based holistic salad eater by day…. sugar junkie by night. Sugar addiction ruled her life. Nothing she tried ever worked. Until she met David Zappazodi. Now, her cravings for sugar have disappeared. David Zappazodi has been a healthcare professional specializing in weight loss for over 20 years. He uses radical methods. Instead of coaching people to find their why, and motivating them to change their habits, he tells his clients to stop exercising and eat the junk foods they crave several times a day. It sounds nuts. But…. It works. How do you transform your life first? You have to focus on the struggles that are preventing the weight loss, and then focus on the weight loss itself. To do this, David uses three brain flips that tackle cravings, overeating, and exercising. Brain Flip Your Cravings Cravings are like bullies. You have to stand up to them in a way that lets them know you're not going to be pushed around. Trying to avoid bullies, or fight them, doesn't work long-term. It's the same with your cravings. You might try avoiding your cravings, but that doesn't work. Eventually the cravings win. Then you indulge and feel guilty. The only way to free yourself is to eat the food you crave… but eat it in a different pattern. Think about it. You've resisted for so long, then finally you give in. In that moment when you indulge, there is pleasure. This is the core point where things need to change. If you create pain in the moment of indulgence, then you begin to flip your brain to eradicate your desire for that particular food. How? By creating a pain tool. This is a recording of what could go wrong in your life if you don't solve this issue, which you listen to while you eat the food. By inserting pain in that indulgence, you begin to make friends with your cravings. You stop associating indulging with pleasure, and the cravings subside. Brain Flip Overeating: The way David tackles overeating is to get his clients to split their usual portion into two plates. You eat the first one normally, but you eat the second portion while listening to another pain tool, so you learn to associate being overfull with being in pain. This creates another brain flip. Brain Flip Exercise: David calls this the body brain flip. Now that the cravings and overeating are dealt with, it's time to reprogram your brain to look at exercise in a completely new way. David gets his clients to create a vision tool - the opposite to a pain tool. Imagine the best that could happen to you as you transform your health and lose the weight, and listen to that audio several times a day to really connect with the feeling of joy. This turns around your usual thinking about exercise being a chore, into something you're excited about doing. And when you're excited about doing something, it becomes effortless. Want more? Check out Episode 233, where David delves deep into how the brain flip works to free you of chaotic or compulsive eating. David's tips to reduce your cravings: If you're really struggling - schedule a free call with David at www.brainflipweightloss.com/talk Increase the enjoyment of healthy foods - for example listen to great music when you eat them - this will create a positive association Don't eat healthy foods while you're stressed - it will create a negative association Don't allow indulging in the cravings to de-stress you. Relax first, and then indulge. Disconnect indulging in your cravings with usual activity (like eating ice cream while watching tv) - indulge in a different environment Don't use junk food as a reward - ask yourself "how can I reward myself without eating junk food, in ways that would be even more enjoyable?" Ep 242242: Be Part of the Food Revolution and Change The World With Ocean Robbins

You can save animals from factory farms. You can shift culture. You can stop rainforests from being chopped down. You can help communities. You can create the kind of world you want to live in. This is the power of your fork. The food revolution is a revolution you can fight peacefully, and everyone wins: the animals, the people, and our environment. Food really matters. It's the foundation of good health. But unfortunately, for many people it can also be the foundation of disease. A standard American diet means standard American diseases. This is something Ocean Robbins witnessed in his own family history. His grandfather was one of the founders of Baskin-Robbins. His dad refused to go into the business, and walked away from a path paved with gold and ice-cream. He moved to an island off Canada with his wife, built a log cabin, grew vegetables, practiced yoga several hours a day, and had a child: Ocean. From this island, Ocean's dad wrote the book Diet for a New America, which helped thousands of people rethink their food choices. One of his readers ended up being his own father, who, after years of eating a standard American diet, was at death's door. But making the changes suggested in the book, he reversed his heart disease and diabetes, lost 30 pounds, and lived 19 more healthy years. When Ocean was 16, inspired by his dad and grandfather, he founded a nonprofit called Yes, and travelled to 65 countries giving talks and helping young activists build a healthier world for future generations. It was during these travels that Ocean realized how much of an impact food has on our health. He saw that as the American way of eating and producing food was expanding, so too were the diseases related to this diet. He realized food was at the source of a lot of the suffering on the planet: the torture of animals, the use of chemical poisons to grow crops and hijack our taste buds, the subsidies given to support the unhealthiest foods. In 2012, Ocean joined forces with his dad and launched the Food Revolution Network, to promote healthy, sustainable food for everyone. They push for policy changes that could change our world. One of their goals is to make sure medical doctors get proper nutrition education. They also lobby to stop policies that support junk foods, and get the food industry to take health seriously. But perhaps the most important goal is to share this life-boosting information with as many people as possible and help them put healthy change into action - not just for themselves, but for their community and the whole world. We're so excited to announce that Ocean's new book 31-Day Food Revolution is out today. It's packed with information and a step by step plan to put new habits into action. The 4 principles to starting your own Food Revolution: Less sugar and processed junk Less animal products More whole plant foods (veg, greens, legumes, whole grains, fruits - lots of fiber) Conscious sourcing - buy food that is organically, ethically, and fairly produced How to be plant-based affordably: Stop buying calories that are toxic (from junk foods) Avoid food waste - plan ahead, cook up extra meals and freeze them Eat out less Buy the real superfoods - cabbage, carrots, onions, beans, quinoa, spices… All these things put together can get you to ultimate vitality and help create a better world. But it's about more than just health. Food can also connect us. Ocean's book gives tips to help you be a positive influencer, teach people about nutrition in a loving way, and how you can build a community. Because we are not lone wolves, we need community to thrive. And for every copy of the book that's ordered, Ocean will donate to Trees for the Future, a nonprofit that plants trees all over the world. Every time a new copy is ordered, they will plant an organic fruit or nut tree in a disadvantaged community. This means when you order Ocean's new book, you participate in the food revolution right away. Ep 241241: Ayurveda 101 with Sahara Rose: How to Balance Your Doshas and Thrive

E

World renowned keynote speaker, best-selling author, world traveler… and she recently got engaged in Bali after one of the most epic proposal stories we've ever heard! But Sahara Rose wasn't always a glowing picture of health and success. In fact, she went through a really tough time - she didn't have periods, lost her hair, suffered from bloating and constipation. No one could find the cause or cure the problem. Until one day she read about the Vata dosha - it was like reading her autobiography. Following ayurvedic practices to bring this dosha back into balance, Sahara regained her health. But it was hard - Ayurveda processes are old school, and many don't work for today's busy lifestyles. So Sahara decided to redesign these ancient practices to fit the modern world. Her two books - The Idiot's guide to Ayurveda, and Eat Feel Fresh (with a foreword by Deepak Chopra!) offer simple and easy to follow strategies to get your doshas, and your health, back into balance. What is Ayurveda? Ayurveda is over 5000 years old; it's the world's oldest heath system. It means "the knowledge of life." Ayurveda involves your entire life in order to heal you: nutrition, digestion, self-care, movement, morning rituals, your environment, your relationships, and your purpose. What Dosha Are You? Dosha means energy. In Ayurveda, we're all made up of three energies from the elements space, air, fire, water and earth. The three doshas are Vata (air and space), Pita (fire and water) and Katha (earth and water). Vata Mind: creative, artistic, go with the flow, visionary… but if unbalanced: difficulty coming down to earth, anxiety, everything up in the air, head in the clouds, not liking a set schedule Body: lean, flexible… but if unbalanced: cold skin, slow digestion, bloating, cracking joints, unbalanced appetite, dry skin. Pita Mind: feisty, high energy, driven, business-minded, regimented, likes routine, motivated…. But if unbalanced: angry, aggressive. Body: strong and athletic… but if unbalanced: high risk of inflammation, heart burn, acne, rashes. Katha Mind: calm, peaceful, very giving… but if unbalanced: gives too much, unable to set boundaries, people pleaser. Body: solid, endurance… but if unbalanced: lethargic and prone to increased mucous. We are all a combination of all three of these doshas, in varying amounts. What's more, these doshas may change depending on where you are in your life. Ayurveda heals the doshas within us so that we can rebalance our health. To find out your dosha, take the quiz on Sahara's website. How to Rebalance Your Dosha: Vata: Warm, grounding foods - think roots! Stay away from excessively cold foods. Pita: Cooling, alkalizing foods - more leafy greens, bitter veg, coconut. Avoid spicy foods. Kapha: Stimulating foods - warming spices to rev up metabolism. In her latest book, Eat Feel Fresh, Sahara makes it easy to incorporate this ancient healing practice into your life with over 100 ayurvedic plant-based recipes. Her other book, An Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda contains all the self-care and lifestyle strategies to take your health to the next level. Check out Sahara's podcast, Highest Self. Ep 240240: The Secrets to a Healthy Microbiome - How to Heal Your Gut and Heal Your Life with the Gut Health MD, Dr. B

You're only 10% human. Yes, really. Just over a decade ago, doctors believed there were around 200 species of bacteria living on and in the human body. We now know there are over 30,000 species. We have a community of 100 trillion microorganisms in our gut. That is 10 times the number of human cells in the body. This basically means we're 10% human, 90% bacteria! The microbiome was an unknown entity, but now science has shown it to be a game changer. It's an integral part of our health, and if we can support it, we can thrive. We are in a synergistic relationship with the microorganisms in our body - we need them to survive, and they need us. They've been a part of us since the beginning of human evolution. But we're bailing on them right now. In the last century, we've stopped taking care of them. Our diets (the chemicals we use to process our food), environment (the chemicals we use to clean our homes), lifestyles (lack of sleep, lack of movement, stress), medications (antibiotics) - destroy the delicate microbiome we rely on for health. Doctor Will Bulsiewicz, also known as Dr. B, is an internal medicine doctor and expert gastroenterologist. While his conventional medicine training did not include any nutrition study, science was emerging about the power of diet to treat gastrointestinal disease. So he began studying it in his own time and discovered the untapped potential of a healthy gut. Having witnessed amazing results with his patients, he decided to spread the word beyond his clinic. The Gut Health MD was born. Why your gut is your first step to thriving health: All health starts here. It controls your metabolism and how you process your food. It dictates whether you gain weight, or lose weight, and how easy it is to maintain your weight. It's in constant communication with your immune system. It regulates your mood and impulses - 95% of serotonin (your happy hormone) is produced in the gut. What can you do to heal your gut? The most important thing is to eat a wide variety of plants - the more different plants you eat, the healthier your microbiome. Unless you have an allergy, don't blanket-eliminate foods from your diet - taking out foods reduces your diet's variety and therefore your gut's microbiome. Get proper sleep, exercise every day, drink plenty of water. Avoid dairy, meat and processed foods - these damage your microbiome. Fasting gives your gut a break and strengthens your microbiome. Check out the American Gut Project. Go to their website, they will send you a kit - give them a stool sample and fill out a survey about your lifestyle, and for just $99 they will tell you what your microbiome looks like. Ep 239239: Is Toxic Mold Destroying Your Health? Tips to Diagnose, Detox and Heal with Wholistic Health Boss Jenn Malecha

Could mold be affecting your health? Mold is a tricky thing. It's affected people since the dawn of time - but conventional medicine rarely addresses it. But it is a serious issue. Mold produces mycotoxins that can drive up estrogen levels, overburden the body with toxicity and elevate inflammation - so if you're sensitive to mold (25% of people have the gene that make them sensitive) other symptoms will appear, like frequent illness, more allergies, exhaustion and hormonal issues. Jenn Malecha's healing journey had bumps along the way. She'd had a pretty healthy up-bringing - garden, vegetables, an active lifestyle. But when she got to college, the long hours and stress caused by studying and working crazy hours caused her health to decline. Then, at just 25, and having never been a sun-worshipper, Jenn was diagnosed with skin cancer. She knew it had to be caused by her environment and lifestyle. Functional tests revealed that she had high oxidative stress, a clogged-up liver, and adrenal dysfunction. So she tackled all those things, and felt like herself again… Until five years later. She began gaining weight, her periods were all over the place, she had candida overgrowth and inflamed breasts. She went to experts, who were unable to tell her what was going on. Until one day she opened the cupboard near her work desk and there was black mold everywhere. Toxic mold had devastated her health. Having understood what was causing these issues, she began rebalancing her health. She became the boss of her health instead of relying on doctors. She now empowers others to have that same connection with their body. Here are some of the strategies she used to free her home and her body from mold: Screen for Mold at Home: Visual contrast screening - You can take the test for just $15 Even if you pass this test, take an at home microscopy mold test by Citrisafe. This is a small Petri dish that collects mold spores. Once sent to the lab, researchers will analyze the type of mold present in your home. The other test is called an ERMI test and is available from Mycometrics . This is a cloth with which you dust surfaces around your house. The cloth is then analyzed for mold - this test can be good to do because, unlike the microscopy test, it doesn't depend on the mold spores being alive. Screen for Mold Toxicity: Are you electrically charged all the time? Are you urinating more frequently? Nasal swab - order through a naturopathic doctor or functional practitioner. Getting Rid of Mold: Hire professionals to remove the mold. Clean air ducts. Buy anti-mold solution Bio-Balance anti-mold solution. This is a natural toxin-free solution to remove mold from your home. Get rid of mold on your carpet and your pets - products available at www.citrisafe.com. After 30 days, retest your home for mold. Get some functional tests done - if you're sensitive to mold, it will trigger a chronic inflammatory response. This will come up on a functional test. Detox Your Body and Feed Yourself Right: Biotoxins can make the body hyperreactive to wheat. So avoiding gluten is essential. Eat more natural detoxifying foods like beets, dandelion tea, grapefruit, lemon. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet - remove grains, dairy, soy, sugar, and processed foods from your diet. Run a food sensitivity test to find out which foods to stay away from. Look at your personal care products - do they contain allergens like oats or almonds? Keep a food journal - this will help you identify what triggers your symptoms. Listen to your body - tune in and see what the body is telling you rather than just trying to follow protocols. Think yourself healthy - mindset and health are completely linked. Meditate, feed your mind positive thoughts, give yourself enough sleep (leave your cell phone out of the bedroom). Make time to switch off and relax. Jenn now helps busy professional to take back control of their health by offering lab tests and resources to find the missing piece of their health puzzle. With over a decade of personal training experience, Jenn creates personalized health-rebuilding programs for her clients that are realistic and achievable. Book a complimentary discovery call today! Ep 238238: Transform Yourself From The Outside In With Makeover & Dating Expert Kimberly Seltzer

New year, new you! We always feel like a makeover is needed in January. So what better way to begin 2019 than with style coach Kimberly Seltzer? You might not realize it, but your outfits are more than just clothes. They say a lot about you. They can keep you feeling down, block love, and give away your power. Yes, really. Wearing muted colors, going for the bigger size, wrapping up in layers all send a strong message, both to the outside world and to yourself: that you are not confident and are not comfortable in your own skin. From that space, implementing positive change is an uphill struggle. Often, we're told that if we work on what's on the inside - our mindset - we can transform what's on the outside. But this can work the other way too: a great outfit can make you feel empowered, and over time this boosts your confidence and improves your mindset, so you can attract what you want - whether it's in love or in business. If you work on both your mindset and your wardrobe, transformation gets much faster. Kim knows about this first-hand. Twenty years ago, she was a traditional therapist - in other words, she was totally focused on the inner work side of things. But life happened, she got a divorce. Life as she knew it was over. Her mood was so low she couldn't even get out of bed, let alone be a helpful therapist. Despite her knowledge of talking therapy, she couldn't get out of her own way or change how she felt. One day, she looked in the mirror. And she was horrified. Frumpy, wearing oversized clothes, a nursing bra and Birkenstocks. She looked like her mindset: sad, and hiding in a cocoon of black. So she went shopping. Luckily, a personal shopper saw her picking out her usual uniform and intervened with a sexy little red dress. This chance encounter changed Kim's life forever. She suddenly felt like herself again. Her confidence started growing. And the rest is history. Now, Kim is determined to help others reconnect with themselves and find their perfect partner. Ep 236236: Chris Beat Cancer and You Can Too!

Imagine being just 26 years old and being told you have stage 3 colon cancer. Just before Christmas. That's what happened to Chris Wark. What began as intermittent abdominal pain was actually a tumor the size of a golf ball. He was rushed into surgery, but woke up to the news that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. His options? He only had one: chemotherapy for 9 to 12 months. But poisoning himself back to health didn't make sense to Chris. He wanted to build his body back up, not tear it down. He began researching alternatives. The books he read opened his eyes to the healing power of nutrition and how our diet impacts our health. Suddenly he realized that he'd created his cancer, so he could fix it. He immediately bought a juicer and went from a standard American diet to 100% vegan and 100% raw. It wasn't easy to make that decision. His oncologist told him he was insane not to have chemo. He warned Chris that fruits and vegetables would "fight" the treatment, and that chemo was his only hope - without it, there was a 50% chance he would be dead within 5 years. Chris was crushed, and frightened. Unfortunately, this is something that happens to almost all cancer patients. They are manipulated into believing that chemotherapy and cancer drugs are the only solutions. They're told that diet makes no difference. When Chris woke up from the surgery to remove his tumor, his first hospital meal was a sloppy joe - despite the fact red meat is classed as a "probable carcinogen" by the World Health Organization. Patients are told their cancer is either bad luck or bad genes. This turns patients into victims of circumstance, whose only hope is to show up for "standard" treatment. But we know that cancer is multifactorial. Only 5% of cancers are genetic - 95% are caused by diet, lifestyle and environment. What this means is that cancer is not something that just happens, and it isn't something we are powerless against. We have cancer cells in our bodies all the time, but our immune system is designed to fight and kill these cells. The difference between someone with cancer and someone without is their internal environment. We can make our bodies somewhere cancer can thrive (through a poor diet, high stress, environmental toxins), or somewhere cancer cannot survive. But how? Ep 235235: Your Blueprint For Weight Loss Success and Avoiding the Black Hole of Fitness Doom with Fitness Expert Adam Schaeuble

E

Adam Schaeuble is a PHD. Not the kind of PHD you're thinking. It stands for Previous Heavy Dude. At his rock bottom, Adam weighed 327 pounds, and was over $40,000 in debt. But he had good friends who kept giving him the DVD of The Secret to watch. When he eventually did, Adam realized he needed to take his future into his own hands. Five years on, he's achieved everything he set out to - lost 100 pounds, started a family, and started a successful business. How? He stopped focusing on what the world was bringing to his door and instead started looking at what he wanted to achieve, and how he was going to attract what he wanted into his life. Positive mental attitude, a strong lifestyle rehabilitation statement, and consistency are key. Through this journey, Adam found his calling: to help as many people as possible dial up their health and get the results they deserve. Now a transformational coach, fitness expert and gym owner, he's helped his home town lose over 35,000 pounds, and is on a mission to help people lose 1 million pounds of excess body weight. His new podcast, the Million Pound Mission, goes into next-level thinking to take you deeper into nutrition and fitness, and motivate you to take action and get results. It's packed with inspiration and knowledge bombs - if you're trying to lose weight, this is the show for you! You can donate your weight loss to the Million Pound Mission here. Adam's Tips for Manifestation: Write your goals down as though you've already achieved them Declare your goals out loud every day, morning and evening Break down your goals into manageable chunks and take action Don't go to bed before doing at least ONE thing towards your goals Don't be afraid to focus on several goals at once Believe it, plug into that vision, how is it going to feel to reach your goals? Find your why - ask yourself why you want to reach your goal - that's what will get you fired up and motivated. Black Hole of Fitness Doom Do you fall into the black hole of fitness doom? When we embark on a new program, whether it's a fitness program or a new diet, we all go through the same cycle. We start out feeling pumped, then we begin seeing results and feel fired up. And then we have a "life happens" moment, we're not ready, so we crash and burn. We give up, believe that we've failed or that the program doesn't work, and we start another one. And on we go, losing weight, gaining it back, and each time feeling less motivated and more burned out. To break out of that cycle, it's vital to figure out your transformational danger zones and find strategies to deal with them. Once you do that, you will get dramatically better results from your fitness and nutrition program. Adam's Amazing Results Formula: If you apply these four principles to any health goals, you're going to succeed. Get committed to ONE nutrition plan. Be consistent for 28 days. Get committed to a 28-day fitness plan - plan your workouts in advance and stick to them. Strategic thinking - understand your danger zones and the things that usually derail you, and devise a plan to avoid falling into the Black Hole of Fitness Doom. Do the first three consistently over time. Consistency is key. Adam's tips for surviving the holiday season without gaining loads of weight: This isn't the time to focus on losing weight - it's more about maintaining, while being accountable to a plan. Start filling in your transformational notebook (you can download it free on Adam's website) and create a 28-day cycle. Allow some cheat meals, and track them so you can adapt your next 28 days - don't beat yourself up! Be present and conscious. You can build momentum every new cycle. Just don't check out - be easy on yourself but have a game plan to keep your goals in mind. Check out Adam's Reset Bootcamp! Ep 234234: The Truth About Keto, Reversing Diabetes and Going Vegan with Dr. Neal Barnard

Can you reverse diabetes? Conventional science says no. Our favorite plant-based doctor says YES. And this is backed up by science. Dr. Neal Barnard grew up on a ranch in North Dakota, cattle county. He wanted to be a psychiatrist. But while working as an autopsy assistant, he made the connection between meat and a dead animal. The seed was planted. As time went on, he began thinking about veganism from the standpoint of both health and animal welfare. Dr. Barnard believes compassion should be the foundation of medicine - this means medical research has to be ethical. So if a disease is related to food, like diabetes, we need to do more than simply throw pharmaceuticals at it and hope for the best. That's why he set up the Physicians' Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group that promotes preventative medicine through a plant-based diet. What is diabetes? Diabetes happens when your body's cells are no longer able to absorb sugar and use it for energy. This happens if you eat too many fatty foods. Fat gets into the cells and stops them working property. The solution? Well, it isn't the standard diabetes diet - low-calorie, low-carb. The best diet for reversing diabetes is a vegan diet, with minimum oils and an abundance of low-glycemic foods. Why not just avoid carbs? Many people think that to control your blood sugar you simply need to avoid carbs. But the problem with that theory is that around half of what we eat contains carbs - including a lot of good stuff, like sweet potatoes, beans, wholegrains. Sure, your blood sugar levels will drop and you will lose weight on a low-carb diet… because you're semi-starving. It is not sustainable long-term. Then add extra eggs and meat, and the result is more cholesterol and a higher risk of early death. Keto may be on trend, but it won't do your health much good. Dr. Barnard isn't just a plant-based nutrition expert. He's also a TV host and best-selling author, with over 70 scientific papers and 18 books published. His latest one, The Vegan Starter-Kit is a super-short book packed with tips for transitioning to a vegan diet and reversing diabetes. It makes the perfect gift for anyone looking to go plant-based - give your loved ones the gift of health! It's out on December 24th, and you can pre-order it on Amazon now. Dr. Barnard's best plant-based tips for the holidays: Choose a restaurant with great plant-based options, like Italian, Thai and Japanese. Make a healthy dish and bring it to the party (or just make a vegan cheeseboard if you don't fancy cooking) Don't arrive at the party hungry - have a little something to eat beforehand Being hailed as "Sex and the City for Food," The Food Heals Podcast brings together experts in the field of nutrition, health and healing to teach you the best-kept natural secrets to being a hotter, healthier, happier YOU! Ep 233233: Kick Your Sugar Addiction & Free Yourself From Overeating For Good with Weight Loss Expert David Zappasodi

When Allison hired weight-loss expert David Zappasodi, he told her to stop exercising and go buy a bunch of junk food. This is a weight-loss strategy like no other. But, it WORKS. Did you know that out of all the people who try losing weight every year, only 3% succeed? From the moment David stepped into the health and wellness industry, over 20 years ago, he knew he had to find a new method that challenges common weight-loss approaches. So he developed a revolutionary strategy to reprogram your brain to give up junk food and stop over-eating for good. His ultimate goal? To eradicate world-wide obesity. We love his mission!! But how can you do this? By creating brain-flips around your cravings. How Do Brain Flips Work? It's vital to understand that we have two aspects to our brain. First, there's the thinking brain - we use it to fix problems and make our lives better. The thinking brain knows that certain foods are an issue and it wants to get rid of the craving. This is the part of the brain most of us will try to use to lose weight, and it never works. The sensory brain, on the other hand, is different - it's the opposite of your thinking brain in so far as it has no capacity to think. It just functions through your senses - hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste - but it doesn't have a concept of what it's seeing, tasting, touching, smelling etc. It doesn't identify - that's the thinking brain's job. Your sensory brain's role is to keep you safe - it does that by creating familiar associations. For example, let's say as a child you fell and scraped your knee. Your mum bandaged it up, and gave you an ice-cream. Your thinking brain is aware the bandaging is what's helping, but your sensory brain just links the taste of ice-cream to the physical sensation of feeling better - it creates a program that says ice-cream equals feeling good. The result? A craving for ice-cream that lasts into adulthood. The story changes, the food changes, but it's pretty much the same for everyone and all cravings. Your thinking brain might know that this is happening, but that won't solve the problem. Unless you can reprogram your brain, you will keep having those cravings. You need a brain-flip. To create this brain-flip, you need a pain tool. Pain Tool: You've concluded that ice-cream equals safe. So you need to create a pain tool that reprograms your sensory brain to believe that ice-cream equals not safe. How? David gets his clients to make an audio that goes deep into what their life will look like if they don't solve this problem, which they listen to whilst eating the ice-cream or whatever food they crave. This pain tool plants a seed in the sensory brain that says ice-cream is not enjoyable after all. It's a small seed, but it begins to decrease the cravings. Within a few days, this new programming takes over. Your brain no longer associates the ice-cream with comfort, it associates it with pain. The result? You don't crave that food any more. You are free. And that's just Phase 1. In Phase 2, David tackles over-eating. Where cravings tend to be an association of taste with comfort, overeating is an association between the feeling of fullness and feeling safe. This might happen because as a child you were told to finish what was on your plate, so your sensory brain created a link between overeating and feeling safe. In Phase 3, you go even deeper, by brain-flipping your beliefs about working out - making exercise so exciting you'll be begging to get to the gym. Tune in to discover David's tools for brain-flipping around overeating and exercise. Alli has just completed Phase 1, and has gone from eating dessert every single day to not even wanting anything sweet. She feels like a completely new person - and you can too! Ep 232232: Reversing Diabetes and Building Healthy Communities With Plant-Powered Senator Eric L. Adams

Health is the cornerstone of prosperity. If our body isn't functioning properly, we can't do anything, we can't lead joyful lives. We normalize aches and pains, bloating, exhaustion, headaches, ill-health - all the things caused by our lifestyle. We come to believe that to be human means to get progressively sicker every year. That simply isn't true. There's no reason we can't be vibrant and active well into our 90's. Today's guest is a perfect example. Eric L. Adams is a former Democratic State Senator and police officer, and current Borough President of Brooklyn and social justice warrior. He knows first-hand how powerful a simple lifestyle change can be. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with advanced Type 2 Diabetes. He had stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, permanent nerve damage to his hands and feet, and had lost sight in his right eye. Specialists told him that because diabetes ran in his family, he was inevitably heading towards kidney failure, blindness and possible foot amputation. So he made a change. After reading Dr Greger's How Not To Die (check out Episode 214), and watching Forks over Knives, he cleaned out his kitchen cupboards and swapped his Standard American Diet for a whole foods plant-based diet. Just 3 weeks later, his vision cleared up, his stomach ulcers disappeared, and the nerve damage was reversed. A complete turn-around. Now, Eric is determined to empower people to heal themselves. Because after all, there's no such thing as prosperity without a healthy community. He's teamed up with schools to teach children to grow food, and runs initiatives like Meatless Mondays and 10-day challenges for people suffering with disease, as well as hosting events to demystify veganism. But perhaps the most exciting initiative is what's happening at Bellevue hospital. The first ever plant-based unit will be set up, run by functional medicine doctors, dietitians and nutritionists to show patients how to heal themselves, reverse disease and come off their prescription meds with a whole-food plant-based diet. Could this model be rolled out on a global scale? This could change the conversation around medicine for good. The future's looking bright! Check out Eric's Instagram to learn more!
