Ep 130How to Turn Networking Into Consistent Clients Without the Hard Sell
Networking isn’t about pitching; it’s about building relationships—but so many people get it wrong. In this episode, I chat with Jamie, the founder of Circle Networks, about why traditional approaches to networking often fail and how to do it differently. Jamie shares his journey, from hating online networking to creating a model that focuses on real conversations and mutual value. We’ll unpack why most people show up to sell but forget no one’s there to buy, and how shifting your mindset from ‘selling’ to ‘helping’ changes everything. Jamie even shares a surprising story about how a year of focusing on others led to a six-figure outcome—and what you can learn from it. If you’ve ever felt stuck or frustrated trying to find clients through networking, this conversation might just change your perspective. Join us as we break down the practical steps to build meaningful connections that actually work.
Ep 129Winning clients with a small audience
Have you ever felt stuck in the never-ending chase for more followers, more likes, more engagement, thinking that’s the only way to win clients? Ep 126The Neon Shift: Jaguar, Cucumbers, and the Future of AI
Ever wondered what memes, cocktails, and cutting-edge AI have in common? In this punchy, neon-soaked debut episode, Dean ditches the tired interview format for an unfiltered, laugh-out-loud chat with content whiz Tom. Together, they unpack the secrets behind making people laugh and buy, the wild evolution of platforms like TikTok, and how Jaguar’s bold leap from accessible to elite might just crash and burn - or redefine luxury forever. But it doesn’t stop there. Dive into the dizzying rise of AI-generated everything - from eerily real political deepfakes to bots out-performing humans on social media (yes, even Dean’s doppelgänger went viral). They’ll also share war stories, like how a Gatwick airport meltdown landed Dean on national TV and why a guy making cucumber recipes might be a social media genius. Ever wondered how to turn a sales call into an easy, natural conversation that actually leads to results? In this episode, I’m sharing the exact framework I use to run sales calls that feel less like a pitch and more like a productive chat. We’ll break down the anatomy of a perfect sales call - from doing your prep work and setting the agenda to asking the right questions that get your prospects to reflect on what they really need. Ep 123Win BIG by Marketing like an Underdog
Most small businesses and solopreneurs struggle with marketing. They waste time copying big brands, following flashy trends, and spreading themselves too thin. The result? Burnout, frustration, and little to show for all that effort. Instead of attracting clients, they’re stuck chasing likes and impressions that don’t convert. Imagine pouring hours into LinkedIn, TikTok, or email campaigns, only to see crickets. The competition is fierce, and everyone seems to have a bigger budget, larger teams, and slicker strategies. It feels impossible to stand out. You’re not Coca-Cola or Nike - you’re a small business owner with limited time, budget, and resources. Trying to play the same game as the big players is a guaranteed way to lose. What if you stopped competing on their terms and started playing to your strengths? The secret isn’t about going bigger - it’s about thinking like an underdog. Underdogs know how to be scrappy, focused, and strategic. They don’t waste time mimicking the giants; they carve their own path. With the right framework, you can simplify your marketing, build a loyal audience, and win clients consistently. In this episode, we break down four essential steps to reduce the friction between you and your ideal clients. You’ll learn how to create a clear offer, target the right audience, craft magnetic messaging, and build a time-saving system. This isn’t about working harder - it’s about working smarter, so your efforts actually pay off. Ready to ditch the big-brand playbook and market yourself like an underdog? This approach will change the way you think about marketing forever. --------- ➕ Hit subscribe so you never miss another episode. ✍️ Sign up for my weekly email newsletter: https://www.deanseddon.io/signal ✅️ Ready to act? Ep 1227 Lessons I learned building my business on LinkedIn
Building a business on LinkedIn isn’t easy. It’s frustrating, confusing, and at times, you’ll wonder why it’s working for everyone else but not you. I’ve spent years going round in circles, trying to figure out what others were doing right while I felt stuck. But eventually, I learned some tough lessons that saved me a lot of time and hassle, and I’m sharing them with you so you don’t have to make the same mistakes. If you want to save time, avoid burnout, and build a business that actually works, you need to start making smarter moves. These seven lessons will help you do exactly that. 1. Don’t let fear of being 'salesy' hold you back When I first started using LinkedIn for business, I was terrified of looking desperate or salesy. I was going through a really tough business split (some of you know the story), and everything felt up in the air. I needed business, but I didn’t want to come across as that pushy person. But here’s what I learned: it’s not about being salesy, it’s about being personal and relevant. I made the mistake of lumping all outreach into one category - the bad, the annoying, and the irrelevant. But I realised, after a lot of time wasted, that it’s not about the outreach - it’s about how you do it. When you research someone, understand what they do, and craft a personal message, people appreciate it. Once I understood this, I started getting better responses. So, don’t be afraid to reach out. Just be targeted. If you do it right, it’s a game-changer. If you want to get clients, stop hiding behind your fear of looking desperate. Take the time to research and reach out in a personal way, and watch the doors open. 2. You don’t need a huge following to get clients I spent a long time thinking that if I could just get more followers, I’d start getting more clients. But the truth is, that doesn’t work. Sure, having a large following looks nice, but what does it matter if most of those followers aren’t interested in what you do? I’ve seen influencers with massive followings struggle because their audience just isn’t the right fit. More followers won’t fix a strategy problem. Focus on getting the right followers. I’d rather have 500 followers who are perfect for what I offer than 50,000 who are just there for motivational quotes. It’s not about numbers - it’s about quality. Stop wasting time trying to reach as many people as possible. Focus on the people who are actually interested in what you offer, and you’ll start getting the results you want. 3. Clarity is everything At first, I thought I was clear about what I was offering. But when I looked at my profile and content through the eyes of a potential client, I realised I wasn’t being clear at all. I was trying to appeal to everyone - business owners, marketers, sales teams. The problem was, each group had different needs and perspectives. I learned that to really speak to someone, I had to be specific about who I was talking to. So, I started tailoring my messages for specific groups. The result? A massive improvement in engagement and responses. If you want to attract clients, you need to make it clear what you do and who you do it for. The more specific you are, the more you’ll stand out and attract the right people. 4. Engagement doesn’t equal success Likes, comments, shares - they all feel good. But I’ve learned that they don’t always lead to clients. I’ve had people with 200,000 followers tell me they’re making no money. I’ve seen people with huge engagement numbers still end up going back to a regular job because they couldn’t convert the engagement into business. The real question is: are the right people engaging with you? If your likes and comments aren’t coming from your ideal clients, they don’t mean much. Engagement isn’t the goal - it’s a tool. Focus on getting the right people to engage with your content, and you’ll see more clients in your pipeline. 5. Content isn’t king - systems are For a long time, I thought content was the key to everything. Post enough, and clients will come to you, right? Well, I learned the hard way that content alone won’t bring in the clients. Sure, content helps you build your authority, but you need a system to convert that content into leads. Without a system in place to handle the inbound interest, content is just fluff. Systems are what bring in the business. The content is just the tool to get you noticed. If you want predictable results, stop relying solely on content. Build a system that converts your content into clients, and you’ll see steady growth. 6. LinkedIn is just a room full of people It’s easy to forget that LinkedIn is full of real people with real needs. When I first started, I focused too much on the numbers and forgot to treat LinkedIn like a room full of people. The best outreach I’ve ever done is when I’ve focused on the individual, taken the time to understand them, and made the message personal. People can tell when you’ve done the work to understand them, as opposed to sendin
Ep 121Make £100k a year in 10 hours a week.
Many business owners find themselves working long hours without seeing the income they expected. They’re delivering value but aren’t reaching true financial freedom. This isn’t only about raising prices; it’s about positioning yourself effectively, attracting clients who genuinely value your expertise, and building a structure that allows you to earn what you’re truly worth. Without a strategic shift, most business owners will keep working hard without getting closer to real financial independence. In this episode, we’ll explore the mindset shifts, strategies, and client-focused approaches that can help you move from feeling stretched to running a business model that supports a £100k income. You’ll hear the story of a business owner who transformed their approach to ensure every hour is well-compensated. Ep 120When People-Pleasing Nearly Killed My Business
In this episode, I’m digging into one of the toughest lessons I’ve learned in business: the high cost of people-pleasing. It’s something we all think we can avoid – until we’re knee-deep in projects, saying “yes” to every request, and feeling like our work isn’t even ours anymore. I’ve been there. Burned out. Frustrated. Wondering why the business I built for freedom started to feel like a trap. In this conversation, I get brutally honest about how people-pleasing sneaks in and, before you know it, robs you of your energy, your time, and, frankly, your confidence. I'll take you through the moments I said “yes” when I knew I should have said “no” – and the exact cost of those decisions. But this episode isn’t just my horror stories. I’m sharing what I’ve learned about setting boundaries, the importance of clarity, and why respecting your own expertise is the only way to build something sustainable. Because here’s the thing: clients don’t hire you just to make them happy; they want results – and that only comes when you have the courage to stand firm. This episode is for you if you’ve ever felt: Trapped by client demands Unsure of where to draw the line Tired of putting everyone else first If you’re ready to protect your time, reclaim your work, and create something that works for you, don’t miss this episode. It’s about delivering real value, on your terms, and building a business that truly serves you – without sacrificing your sanity. --------- ➕ Hit subscribe so you never miss another episode. ✍️ Sign up for my weekly email newsletter: https://www.deanseddon.io/signal ✅️ Ready to act? Ep 118Cracking TikTok: The rollercoaster of content creation
I sit down with Tom Thompson, the guy who’s been working with me behind the scenes on my socials and content at MAVERRIK. We're recording this chat from a motel in Atlanta, and I’ve finally managed to convince him to join me on the podcast. We’re talking all things TikTok – our six-month journey of trying to crack the platform and the rollercoaster ride that comes with it. We dive into the ups and downs of content creation, why some of our TikTok's took off while others totally flopped, and how we’ve been experimenting with trends. You’ll hear about the spontaneous videos we threw together that ended up outperforming the ones we actually planned out. And, of course, we get into the quirks of TikTok’s algorithm – the mystery of why certain posts skyrocket while others fall flat. It’s not just about strategy, though. We talk about the emotional side of creating content, dealing with negativity, and the fine balance between standing out and staying authentic. If you've ever wondered how to keep your sanity while trying to grow on TikTok, this episode will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we’ve navigated it all. Whether you're already on TikTok or just thinking about giving it a go, you’ll get some practical tips and a few laughs along the way. Tune in to find out how we’ve been using trends to our advantage – and why, sometimes, you just have to keep going and let the numbers speak for themselves. --------- ➕ Hit subscribe so you never miss another episode. ✍️ Sign up for my weekly email newsletter: https://www.deanseddon.io/signal ✅️ Ready to act? Ep 119If they believe in you, they'll buy from you.
In this episode, we’re diving into something that can transform your business – the power of being yourself online. Too many people are afraid to stand out. They try to please everyone, and in doing so, they end up blending in. Here’s the reality: people buy from people. But they won’t buy from you if they don’t believe in you. And they won’t believe in you if they can’t see the real you. Let’s take an extreme example – Donald Trump. Like him or not, his supporters back him because they feel he’s being real. He’s built a fanbase by being bold and unapologetically himself. Now, I’m not suggesting you turn into Trump, but the principle holds - if you want die-hard supporters, you need to be bold. Be real. Be YOU. And guess what? You don’t need thousands of fans. In fact, you probably only need about 100 true supporters to build a thriving business. This episode will challenge you to stop playing it safe. Stop being vanilla. Start owning your personality, your opinions, and the way you do things. When you do this, you’ll start attracting your tribe. People who believe in you, trust you, and buy from you. If you’ve been afraid of being too much, of scaring people off, you’re holding yourself back. The truth is, people will love you more for being yourself. So, are you ready to step up? Tune in and discover why being real is your best marketing strategy. This episode will change the way you think about personal branding and show you how to stand out. --------- ➕ Hit subscribe so you never miss another episode. ✍️ Sign up for my weekly email newsletter: https://www.deanseddon.io/signal ✅️ Ready to act? Ep 116Ep 115: Turn rejection into fuel - getting a "No" is a good thing
We’ve all been there, paralysed by the idea of being told "no" or getting criticised, and it’s easy to let that fear hold us back. Today, I’m sharing my personal journey through this struggle, drawing on years of building my own brand and business on platforms like LinkedIn, where criticism, trolls, and setbacks are part of the daily grind. I’m not here to sugar-coat it – rejection hurts. But over time, I’ve learned that "no" isn’t the end. It’s just part of the process. In this episode, I’ll explore why so many of us let fear stop us from taking action, and how embracing failure can actually be the key to moving forward. You’ll hear some of my own stories, from moments that felt career-ending at the time, to realising that none of them truly mattered in the long run. If you’re stuck because you’re afraid of failing, afraid of hearing "no," or worried about what people might think, this episode is for you. I’m not going to give too much away, but let’s just say you might start looking at rejection a little differently by the end of this one. Ep 114Ep 113: Start building an email list now
Sick of battling social media algorithms? In this episode, I’m diving into why building an email list should be your top priority. While social media is great for visibility, it’s not where you build real, lasting relationships. Here’s the deal - you don’t own your audience on social. With one algorithm change, your reach could vanish overnight. But with email? You get direct access to your audience every single time. An email list lets you build a community that’s yours. You can nurture potential clients who aren’t ready to buy right now but might be in the future. You can stay top of mind, share real value, and build trust - all without worrying if today’s post will even get seen. And guess what? I’ll be your first subscriber. If you’re ready to build an audience that’s algorithm-proof and always in your control, this episode is for you. You’ll learn why an email list is like a goldmine of future clients, and how to get started - even if you’re brand new. Don’t leave your business in the hands of social media platforms. Ep 112Ep 111: My 25-Second LinkedIn Secret - The key to more engagement
Many people struggle with low engagement on LinkedIn. They’re pouring time into thoughtful, well-constructed content, only to see minimal interaction or impressions. It’s frustrating, especially when they see others posting casual, less polished content that seems to get traction. The typical advice of "just add more value" doesn’t cut it – there’s a missing piece that most aren’t aware of, something crucial about how LinkedIn actually works. You know the feeling: you spend time crafting insightful posts, sharing knowledge, offering value – and yet, you’re lucky if a few people even give it a like. Meanwhile, someone else’s blurry selfie or simple update blows up with likes and comments. It’s maddening. You’ve tried being consistent, adjusting your messaging, maybe even jumped on the AI trend. Still, it’s as if your content is invisible. You wonder what you’re doing wrong, and why LinkedIn’s algorithm seems to be working against you. It’s time to stop tweaking your content randomly. The solution lies in understanding the mechanics behind visibility on LinkedIn – and it has nothing to do with being more valuable. The secret is mastering how long you can keep people engaged. I use a simple but effective 25-second principle that can dramatically increase your reach. This isn't about writing longer posts or forcing engagement – it’s about understanding how the platform measures attention. Once you apply this, you'll see the difference, and your content will finally get the visibility it deserves. Ep 110#109 - Eliminate your competition, build a category of one
Are you stuck in the hustle, constantly trying to outshine your competition? Do you feel like no matter how loud you shout or how much content you create, it’s never enough to truly stand out? Here’s the truth: competing in an oversaturated market is the slow lane to nowhere. But what if you didn’t have to compete at all? In our latest episode, we’re diving into the secret of breaking free from the noise by becoming a category of one. Imagine a business where you’re not chasing clients or fighting for attention. Instead, clients seek you out because there’s no one else like you. This episode is about helping you build a business that aligns with your biggest dreams, one where your unique strengths, story, and personality are your greatest assets. We’ll walk you through the five key elements that make you impossible to compete with: embracing your personality, narrowing down your audience, solving specific problems, developing your unique methodology, and uniting your clients against a common foe. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just dipping your toes into the world of personal branding, this episode is packed with insights, truths, and practical advice that will transform how you think about your personal brand. We’ve all seen it: the endless diagrams, the celebrity-like projections, and the constant pressure to put on a show. But let’s face it, personal branding has become a bit of a circus. People are tying themselves in knots trying to figure out what it means and how to make it work for them. That's why I’m here to demystify personal branding and give you the tools to create a brand that is genuinely you. In this episode, we dive into the essence of personal branding. It’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not or chasing likes and follows. It’s about creating a character that reflects your true self—your expertise, your stories, and your unique perspective on the world. Think of it as crafting your very own Indiana Jones character, complete with your quirks, values, and backstory. You don’t need to reveal everything, just enough to connect with people and build trust. Trust, my friends, is the currency of the future. In an era where everything is fakeable—followers, reviews, even success—building genuine trust through your personal brand is more critical than ever. It’s about being consistently present and authentic so people know who you are and what you stand for when they need your expertise. We also explore the idea of typecasting yourself in your industry. Just like Liam Neeson found his niche with action-packed roles, you can find your sweet spot by focusing on solving one key problem for your audience. This doesn’t mean limiting yourself but rather creating a strong, memorable brand that people immediately associate with a particular need or expertise. Building a personal brand isn’t about overnight success. It’s a journey, a compounding process that grows and evolves over time. I’ll share how you can document your progress, celebrate your milestones, and keep pushing forward even when it feels like you’re not making much headway. Remember, personal branding is about the long game. Throughout this episode, we’ll discuss how to balance authenticity with professionalism, how to project the right image without losing yourself in the process, and how to stay consistent in a world where attention spans are shorter than ever. So, if you’re ready to step up your personal branding game and create a brand that’s not just seen but truly felt, hit that play button. Let’s embark on this adventure together and unlock the power of personal branding. Ep 98Ep 97: Opportunities are hiding in time-wasting activity
In this episode, I reflect on a transformative trip to the US, where stepping away from my daily routine allowed me to see things from a fresh perspective. I hope that by sharing my experiences, you too can find inspiration and seize the unexpected opportunities that lie around you. Let’s set the stage. About ten days ago, there was a global IT glitch that disrupted planes, hotels, trains, and major businesses. This chaos was triggered by an error from the cybersecurity company Crowdstrike. I was at the airport during the meltdown, capturing the growing queues and posting the footage on TikTok and Twitter. Within hours, my videos went viral, garnering around 200,000 views on TikTok and 80,000 on Twitter. Suddenly, I was in high demand for TV interviews, reporting live for ITV, BBC, and Sky News. This frenzy showed me how hungry people are for real-time updates during global events. From this unexpected burst of online fame, a company even wanted to buy the rights to my footage. It was a surreal experience, and as I jetted off to the US for a series of workshops, I couldn’t help but reflect on the vast sea of opportunities surrounding us daily. Often, we let the doom and gloom of news and social media convince us that opportunities are scarce, but in reality, they are abundant. As a business owner, you might feel overwhelmed by the notion that there’s a lack of opportunities due to economic challenges. However, the truth is, there are countless opportunities at our fingertips. The key is to recognize and seize them. For instance, I've had scenarios where seemingly insignificant meetings turned into life-changing deals. One coffee meeting, which I almost skipped due to skepticism and past disappointments, led to a project pitch and eventually the biggest deal of my career. This experience taught me that opportunities don’t always come neatly packaged. I've been active on social media for nearly 20 years, posting across various platforms. Recently, someone reached out to me for a meeting after seeing my Twitter posts. Initially, I was hesitant due to the long drive and my past encounters with time-wasters. However, I took the plunge, and although the initial meeting seemed fruitless, it eventually led to a significant project pitch. This was a stark reminder that we must remain open to possibilities, even if they don’t immediately seem promising. One major takeaway from my travels and experiences is the importance of building relationships and personal branding. Being visible and nurturing connections can unlock opportunities that no business plan can predict. Often, we miss these chances because we are too focused on our to-do lists and productivity. For instance, filming a TikTok video at the airport led to my footage being featured on major news outlets. This wasn’t planned or expected, but being in the right place at the right time and sharing my experience created a significant opportunity. It’s crucial to be present and aware, allowing room for these unplanned moments. In summary, as solopreneurs or small business owners, it’s essential to invest time in building relationships and your personal brand. While not every interaction will lead to immediate success, these efforts create a foundation for significant opportunities down the line. Reflect on your approach: are you allowing space for relationship-building and personal branding, or are you too consumed by daily tasks? The unexpected opportunities are often disguised as time-wasters. By staying open and proactive, you can turn these moments into game-changing opportunities. So, take a step back, build those connections, and stay present in the moment – you never know what incredible opportunity might come your way next.

Ep 96Ep 95: Don't mess up your LinkedIn profile with guest, Greg Coe
In this recent podcast episode, I had the pleasure of hosting Greg Coe, an experienced IT professional and LinkedIn coach. We delved into the nuances of optimizing your LinkedIn profile to stand out in today's competitive job market. Greg, with his extensive background in IT and his side gig with Getlinked.Pro, shared invaluable insights on how to leverage LinkedIn for personal branding and career advancement. One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the importance of a well-crafted LinkedIn profile. Greg emphasized that having a professional headshot, an engaging background photo, and a headline that not only states your current role but also hints at your future ambitions are crucial. These elements are your first impression and can significantly impact a recruiter's decision to delve deeper into your profile. Greg also highlighted the significance of showcasing your achievements succinctly. Instead of writing long paragraphs, he advised using bullet points to list your accomplishments, starting with quantifiable results. This method captures attention and provides a clear picture of your capabilities and successes. For example, stating "229% of quota in sales" immediately draws attention and indicates your performance level. We also discussed the value of recommendations. Greg strongly recommends collecting LinkedIn recommendations as social proof of your skills and work ethic. These testimonials can be repurposed in your CV, adding another layer of credibility. He shared a powerful anecdote about how a well-timed recommendation from a mutual connection helped him secure a job, underscoring the impact of this strategy. In terms of standing out in a crowded market, Greg mentioned the importance of aligning your profile with the keywords and skills relevant to the jobs you're targeting. Recruiters often use LinkedIn like a search engine, filtering profiles based on specific skills. Ensuring these keywords are prominent in your profile can make you easier to find and more attractive to potential employers. Finally, we touched on the proactive use of LinkedIn. Engaging with content, sharing industry insights, and being an advocate for your current employer can all reflect positively on you. This activity demonstrates your enthusiasm and thought leadership, traits highly valued by hiring managers. For anyone looking to refine their LinkedIn profile, Greg's advice is gold. Whether you're actively seeking a new job or just looking to advance your career, optimizing your LinkedIn profile can make a significant difference. If you need personalized guidance, Greg is available through his website, getlinked.pro.

Ep 92EP 91: How to get the attention of your ideal clients.
In the latest episode of my podcast, we dive into a crucial topic: getting noticed on LinkedIn. You’ve been putting in the effort, sharing valuable content, but it seems like your posts are falling flat. So, what’s going wrong? Why isn’t your amazing insight gaining the traction it deserves? Today, we tackle this challenge head-on. First off, it’s essential to separate your emotions from your social media activity. It’s easy to get hooked on the dopamine rush from likes and comments, but that’s not the end goal. Sure, we all want more engagement and followers, but not all engagement is beneficial. You need to know what you want from your content and set clear goals to measure success. Often, the posts that bring in the most leads aren’t the ones that get the most likes. For example, a post that speaks directly to your ideal client’s pain points may perform poorly compared to a motivational quote, but it’s more effective in attracting the right audience. This leads us to the crux of our discussion: the importance of relevance over popularity. To get noticed by the right people, your content must be hyper-relevant. This means understanding your ideal client’s world, their challenges, and how your content can offer solutions. You can’t just appeal to everyone; you need to focus on those who matter most to your business. Think of it this way: Coca-Cola targets the masses, while Rolls Royce targets a niche market. As a solopreneur or small business, you should adopt a Rolls Royce strategy, aiming to influence a specific, valuable audience rather than trying to reach everyone. So, how do you create hyper-relevant content? Start by ensuring that every social post has a clear, targeted message. Use specific language that resonates with your ideal client’s daily struggles. For instance, instead of a generic ”how to be more efficient,” say ”how to get your proposals done when you’re back-to-back on sales calls.” This specificity grabs attention and provides real value. Consistency is key. Content is a long game. While you might not see immediate results, regular, targeted posts will build a relevant audience over time. Remember, it’s not about the number of likes but about getting noticed by those who will pay for your services. For those who want to dive deeper, I’ve got frameworks to help you gain clarity on your ideal clients. DM me, and I’ll send you my clarity framework to get you started. Let’s get your content noticed by the right people and start driving real results.

Ep 86Ep 85:Two people, same problem - The disconnect in social selling
This week, I had the opportunity to speak at two events dealing with similar concerns about the use of LinkedIn and social selling. Despite one event catering to large technology businesses and the other to solopreneurs, the problems brought up were oddly similar. Both companies, despite their diverse dynamics, had struggled with leveraging social selling via LinkedIn and were wondering why it simply wasn't working out for them. From attempting to post engaging content, to outbound messaging, and even attending one of LinkedIn's training sessions, the companies couldn't quite grasp how to effectively use the platform for sales. But having worked extensively on these exact issues, it was a situation I relished. It allowed me to share some crucial insights about why such problems occurs, not just to them, but to many others trying to use LinkedIn for sales. LinkedIn, a colossal platform with a billion members, is a fundamental spot for salespeople, marketers, and solopreneurs to start their journey. The focus usually hovers over content, an avenue to get oneself known and visible, with an added eagerness to harness high engagement rates. But it is significant to remember that engagement isn't the be-all and end-all of social selling—resonating deeply with potential customers is. The common mistake that many businesses make with LinkedIn is believing that a higher volume of eyeballs on their content equals more leads. But it is crucial to understand that the key is not in persistent expansion of viewership, but resonating with the target audience. Content alone can't generate sustainable sales; it's shooting out a signal that exactly the right people can pick up, rather than just making more noise that attracts a broader, and consequently more irrelevant, audience. Instead of trying to cover broader demographics hoping to catch the right people, the secret is more in adjusting your frequency, dialling it into a form that speaks exclusively to your ideal customer. LinkedIn's improved algorithm works towards matching relevant content with users who resonate with it. Streamline your content to serve a specific audience rather than all possible audiences to maintain relevance and resonance. Crafting highly targeted content may mean having fewer impressions, but the majority of these impressions will be absolute gold. No matter how broad your service or product offering might be, it is always more effective to present a curated, focused network that avoids confusing your audience and the LinkedIn algorithm. The focus is to encapsulate the needs and interests of one specific audience, with a critical understanding that not all content will be relevant for everybody. Want to know more? Ep 85Ep 84: 5 reasons your LinkedIn content isn't performing
It's Dean here, and today I'm talking about how to create LinkedIn posts for engagement. If you've been wondering why your content isn't hitting the mark or why engagement seems like a distant dream, you're in the right place. I'm unpacking the five critical reasons your LinkedIn posts for engagement might be falling flat and, more importantly, how tiny tweaks can turn things around. First off, let's talk about the elephant in the room: an unfocused network. It's easy to overlook, but who you're connected with on LinkedIn can significantly impact the reach and engagement of your posts. If your network is a mishmash of past and present industries, it's time for a clean-up. Tailoring your network to reflect your current focus ensures your LinkedIn posts for engagement are seen by the right eyes, making all the difference. Next up, an unfocused message. This is a biggie. Trying to appeal to everyone often means you resonate with no one. If you want your LinkedIn posts for engagement to cut through the noise, they need to speak directly to your ideal clients. Make it crystal clear who your content is for, and watch as engagement starts to climb. Now, let's tackle content length. In the fast-paced world of LinkedIn, less is often more. Keeping your posts concise and to the point can help hold your audience's attention, boosting those crucial engagement rates. Remember, overwhelming your audience with too much information can lead to them tuning out, not tuning in. Complexity is another engagement killer. Simple, straightforward content not only performs better but is also more accessible to a wider audience. If you're tackling a big topic, consider breaking it down into a series of posts. This approach keeps your LinkedIn posts for engagement digestible and engaging, encouraging your audience to come back for more. Lastly, the power of discussion cannot be overstated. Posts that invite opinions and foster conversation naturally generate more engagement. Instead of broadcasting information, try to spark a dialogue. Ask questions, share ideas, and encourage your followers to weigh in. This strategy not only boosts engagement but also builds a sense of community around your content. In conclusion, if your LinkedIn posts for engagement aren't performing as well as you'd hoped, don't despair. By focusing on these five areas, you can dramatically increase the impact and reach of your content. Remember, LinkedIn is a powerful tool for connecting with potential clients and building your personal brand, but it requires a strategic approach to truly harness its potential. So, take these tips, apply them to your next posts, and watch as your LinkedIn engagement begins to soar.
