Self Care for Moms (EXCLUSIVE Full Coaching Call!)

Have you ever wondered about life coaching? If you answered yes then this episode is for you! On today’s show we're diving into a Wife Teacher Mommy life coaching that is all about self care for moms.We are pulling out a coaching call from the archives of the Club all about self care for moms. This coaching call is from February of 2023 and it is actually the FIRST call I did as a coach inside Wife Teacher Mommy Club! So most of our listeners have probably NOT heard this call yet.I also got PERMISSION to leave one of the actual coaching clips in this call- which I'm super excited about. My adorable SISTER came on for coaching during this call and gave me the okay to include it in the podcast.Funny story- my team didn't even know she was my sister when I was coaching her- and I totally kept my cool as a coach even though I wanted to say "Wait! You're doing an audition again and you didn't tell me?!" It was a memorable first coaching call. The timing of this episode is perfect. Self-care is a big part of SELF LOVE. And our SELF LOVE challenge on the podcast is going to begin NEXT WEEK.The plan for the Self Love Challenge is that every day for 2 weeks in the month of February, I'm going to have a short episode for you with a daily coaching on self care and something for you to think about or a challenge to do. And as you go through each day, you'll learn so much about yourself and how you can show yourself love in so many different ways. You'll also understand how and why this is so important. You’re going to want to sign up here: wifeteachermommy.com/selfcarechallenge to get the full experience.BUT, for today, you'll get to enjoy this amazing coaching on self care. You won't want to miss it!Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/self-care-for-moms/Resources mentioned:Join the Wife Teacher Mommy Club!Self Care ChallengeWife Teacher Mommy: Mentioned on Podcast Amazon List

113. Master the Self Coaching Model

Hey friend! I hope you're having a good week and were able to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones!I am SO PUMPED about today's episode. This week was GOING to be an interview with an amazing life coach and DOCTOR who has been part of scholarly research studies that prove that what we do as certified coaches with our work really works and changes lives. BUT, she had to reschedule to another time, which is totally fine- and this actually makes this super special because but today you're going to get to see what it's like to listen to coaching on the private podcast. This special episode is an AMAZING coaching call that happened inside Wife Teacher Mommy Club and it is all about how to master the self coaching model! This coaching call was recorded on October 18th and I chose this model mastery call because we had some really awesome breakthroughs in this call and it's going to give you a much deeper understanding of the mindset model that we use. The self coaching model is the whole focus of this call. I also chose it because on this call it doesn't involve any actual coaching- a lot of times we'll have people raise their hand and come on to be coached and it's amazing and incredible BUT I also see it as a truly sacred work and we keep those calls inside the club since they are a bit more vulnerable at times for our members. But this will give you an awesome taste at what the workshop style calls in the club are like and what it would be like to be able to subscribe to the additional Wife Teacher Mommy CLUB private podcast. If you enjoy what you hear on this coaching call - I'd love for you to either be able to JOIN ME and engage with me on the chat in the next one- or if you just want more of this, if you want another Wife Teacher Mommy podcast to listen to where you get to dive in deeper and listen to coaching- head over to the link in the show notes or go to wifeteachermommy.com/club/ to learn more about how you can join us.Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/self-coaching-model/Key points on how to master the self coaching model:A brief overview of what life coaching is and how it can help with all aspects of your lifeWhat the self coaching model is and how you can apply it to your lifeHow everyone can get what they want out of life coachingThe most powerful result or change is through a personal mindset shift How Wife Teacher Mommy Club can help you as your teacher life coaches

108. 3 Ways that We Jump to Conclusions

Today we're continuing the conversation we started last week about cognitive distortions. Today we're diving into 3 more cognitive distortions. We're talking all about how we as people jump to conclusions- and how you might be doing it more than you think!Today we're going to learn about another cognitive distortion - and this one is divided into 2 other types that fall under the umbrella as well for a total of 3 types of "jumping to conclusions"What are Cognitive Distortions?According to the Cambridge dictionary, the term “cognitive” means “relating to or involving the processes of thinking and reasoning” and “distortions” means “a change to the intended or true meaning of something”. Therefore, cognitive distortions are irrational or biased thought patterns that lead to negative emotions and behavior. Jumping to Conclusions:"Jumping to Conclusions" means that we guess the facts of the situation without having enough information. To explain this further, I share a personal story about a time when I jumped to conclusions about home schooling my kids and how I thought I knew what my family and peers thought about my decision.Mind Reading:This is when you believe that you know exactly what someone else is thinking and feeling (usually something negative about yourself) even when there is no evidence to back it up and they never said anything like it.For example, a teacher who you’re hoping to befriend might buy a coffee for a couple of fellow teachers but she didn’t bring you one. You assume that it means that she hates you and doesn’t want anything to do with you. In reality, maybe she was just bringing them for the teachers who were right next door to her, and there are many other teachers she didn’t bring one for, too.Fortune Telling:This is when we believe something bad is just around the corner, for no good reason. As David Burns, who is credited as one of the original researchers behind CBT and author I mentioned at the beginning of this episode, says, “It’s as if you had a crystal ball that only gives you bad news!”This is just a preview of the 3 ways we jump to conclusions that dive into on today's episode. Check out today's episode to learn more about jumping to conclusions- you might be doing it more than you think!Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/jump-to-conclusionsKey points on ways that we jump to conclusions:What cognitive distortions areHow and why we have a tendency to jump to conclusions3 different types of jumping to conclusionsWhat "fortune telling" is what it looks likeWhat "mind reading" is and what looks like Real examples from my life where I jumped to conclusionsWhat to do when we find ourselves jumping to conclusions

107. All or Nothing Thinking & Overgeneralization

Have you ever wondered about all or nothing thinking or overgeneralization? Do you know what either of those concepts are? Did you know that your brain is sometimes tricking you? Today is the first of 2 episodes where we're going to talk all about this- and if you find yourself using the words "always" or "never" frequently, you'll definitely find this one interesting. We're diving into these two cognitive distortions: all or nothing thinking and overgeneralization. What are Cognitive Distortions?According to the Cambridge dictionary, the term “cognitive” means “relating to or involving the processes of thinking and reasoning” and “distortions” means “a change to the intended or true meaning of something”. Therefore, cognitive distortions are irrational or biased thought patterns that lead to negative emotions and behavior. There are 11 common cognitive distortions that we will review in this section. Learning these and noticing when they happen can help us more easily identify our unintentional models. WE ALL DO THIS. I'd say nearly every single day. The two concepts that we talk about on today's episode are all or nothing thinking and overgeneralization. All or Nothing Thinking:This is when we see things in an extreme black-or-white mindset with no sort of middle ground. When we are stuck in all-or-nothing thinking we are thinking in absolutes- meaning it must be this way (that we are making up in our minds) or not at all. Oftentimes, we use this against ourselves where we think we must either be a complete success or a total failure.Overgeneralization- This thinking pattern happens when we draw broad, negative conclusions from an isolated event and apply it to everything. The big clue that lets us know we are overgeneralizing when we use words such as “always”, “never”, “everything”, and “nothing”. It can also be easily identified through global labels (ex: bad mom or terrible person)Simply put, drawing broad, negative conclusions about yourself and your surroundings based on just a couple of experiences is a result of overgeneralization. This is just a preview of what we dive into on today's episode. If you find yourself overgeneralizing situations or thinking words like "never"and/or "always" this episode is full of information that is applicable to you! You don't want to miss it.Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/all-or-nothing-thinking/Head over to the YouTube version of this episode: https://youtu.be/DCr4WRIp5DUKey points on all or nothing thinking and overgeneralization:The concept that- thoughts create feelings, why thought work is important (when to use it)What "all or nothing thinking" is and how you may be doing itHow saying words like "always" and "never" is a sign of all or nothing thinkingWhat overgeneralization isThe definition of cognitive distortions and how it may be affecting youWhat to do when we find ourselves doing either of these things

105. Stop Comparing Yourself to Other Teachers or Homeschool Parents

Teachers have a ton of responsibilities that pull them in a million different directions. Planning lessons, differentiation, grading papers, collaboration, classroom management, behavior management, IEPs, parent teacher conference, just to name a FEW.It makes sense that you’re feeling overwhelmed. And you may be tired and exhausted… like, ALL the time. You may feel like you CANNOT do it all. But you know what? That is NOT the biggest mistake teachers make. The biggest mistake that you could make- as a teacher trying to do it all- is comparing yourself to other teachers who seem to have it all together. That is what we are talking about on today's podcast - how to stop comparing yourself to other teachers or homeschool parents. Many of us compare ourselves to the teacher next door. Her classroom is always neat and tidy. Her students always seem to be well behaved. She is happy and cheerful all the time and maybe even leaves school at a decent hour. It always leaves you wondering- how does she do it all?! And why do I seem to be such a hot mess compared to her? We're sharing tips on how to stop these thought patterns.Did you know that there is psychology behind why we compare ourselves? Humans have evolved to compare themselves to others as a way to gauge their own abilities and social standing within their communities. This behavior likely evolved as a survival mechanism to assess one's fitness for resources and protection within a group. The social comparison theory suggests that people have an innate drive to evaluate themselves against others in order to reduce uncertainty and improve self-evaluation. This process can influence self-esteem, motivation, and emotional well-being.Those are just two ideas we dive into in this episode which is full of methods and ideas to help you understand why we compare ourselves to others and how you can stop comparing yourself to other teachers or homeschool parents. Whether you're a confident teacher or need a boost, you won't want to miss this episode that is sure to help you understand and stop comparing yourself.Head over to the show notes: https://www.wifeteachermommy.com/podcast/stop-comparing-yourselfKey points about how to stop comparing yourself:Why you should stop comparing yourself to other teachers and homeschool parentsHow comparing yourself leads to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteemHow you can reframe your mindset can help combat the comparison trap. The urge to compare ourselves to others is a natural survival mechanism, but it doesn't necessarily benefit our self-esteem or well-beingHow social media amplifies the tendency to compare ourselvesThe importance of focusing on your own strengths and achievements instead of comparing yourself to othersAttend the Wife Teacher Mommy Mindset MasterclassJoin Wife Teacher Mommy Club. 94. Declutter Your Mind & Your Space

Do you want to get your space organized so you can feel better? Guess what- it all starts with our mindset. Even cleaning up our space! On today's episode I'm sharing what you can do to declutter your mind and your space. This episode is a special one! Last month we had a Wife Teacher Mommy Club coaching call all about how to declutter your mind and your space. With the new school year slowly approaching, I figured it would be the perfect to air this inspiring coaching call on our podcast today. Most people think of organization as keeping things together or putting items in a bin, but it’s so much more than that and we dive into it on today's episode. We talk about why organization has to start in your mind and actionable tips on how to declutter your mind.We talk all about the importance of figuring out WHY you are decluttering. As humans we have attachment to things based on the past, so we hold on to them. It's important to ask whether they are truly essential. Analyzing our thoughts and identifying the reason we hold on to "unnecessary" items is an important aspect of decluttering our minds. One of the tips we dive into why it is important to create habits and mindsets for a more organized space. Try incorporating a 15-minute pickup at the beginning and end of each day to build the habit of tidying up. Another tip is to get your kids involved in the clean up as well.Everyone wants to achieve work-life balance, and having the right organizational skills will help you with achieving that goal.
