And how it can help you with affirming studentsAfter planning all summer and getting things ready, we know you are eager to start teaching the curriculum when the first day of school finally arrives. And while it’s great to review concepts from last year, that’s not the most important aspect at the beginning of school. You’ve heard us use the acronym ATTA BOY to describe your back-to-school goals, but in today’s episode, we’re sharing why affirming students is your most important goal for back-to-school.Once we thought about it, we realized that affirming students in the beginning is key to success with the other three goals of training, teaching, and assessing. Building connections with students and creating a safe space for them to learn and grow, impacts their learning, engagement, and behavior. Additionally, we give ideas on how to effectively implement affirming students in your classroom. It’s normal to want to jump right into learning content right at the beginning, but your students’ learning will be more effective if you start with the affirming goal. So while you’re still planning this summer, don’t forget to include some plans on ways for affirming students.Resources mentioned:Get your tickets to Educate & RejuvenateEducate & Rejuvenate: A Three-Step Guide to Revitalize Your Teaching, Renew Your Spirit, and Reignite Your Passion For Life First Name Basis [email protected] InstagramNamponsConnect with Heidi & Emily:Teacher Summer Talks Audio SummitConnect with us on Instagram @2ndstorywindowShop our teacher-approved resourcesJoin our Facebook group, Teacher ApprovedConnect with Kelsey:Follow her on Instagram @educateandrejuvenateJoin our Facebook group: Wife Teacher Mommies Unite.Follow on Pinterest for more helpful resources.Preorder Kelsey’s book- Educate & Rejuvenate: A Three-Step Guide to Revitalize Your Teaching, Renew Your Spirit, and Reignite Your Passion For Life

Hope, Humor and Inspiration for Teachers with Kristina Kuzmic (Replay)

This is one of my favorite podcast episodes that I’ve ever done! I have been a fan of today’s guest for a long time, so this interview was a pinch-me moment. Our guest today is Kristina Kuzmic! You may know her from Instagram, TikTok, Oprah, or as the author of her best-selling book “Hold On But Don’t Hold Still”. Chances are you’ve seen Kristina.Kristina Kuzmic is a cheerleader for her fellow humans. It’s not something she ever anticipated doing, but after immigrating to America from Croatia during the war in her homeland and later facing more challenges (divorce, single parenting, poverty, depression…), Kristina wanted to be for others what she wished someone had been for her during her darkest hours. In 2011, when Oprah crowned Kristina the winner of Mark Burnett’s reality TV competition “Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star,” Oprah said, “What is that THING…that’s so charming and charismatic and connected to the audience that makes you feel like, ‘I know her, I want to be her, I’m like her’… Kristina has all of that. She is an ‘IT PLUS’ girl… I wanna watch her!” Since working with Oprah, Kristina has branched out on her own, creating videos about juggling all of life’s challenges and encouraging her audience to prioritize their mental health. 124. Stop Taking Away Recess (And Do This Instead)

Recently, we shared a post on Instagram that explained why I don’t love the idea of taking away recess as a punishment for not completing work. We got a lot of engagement on this post, We heard a lot of feedback from our followers asking if we had a solution, so I decided to do a podcast episode about the benefits of recess and why it should not be taken away as a punishment. Today I'm diving into the positive impacts of recess.I believe recess is just as important as academic subjects. Movement is necessary for kids to regulate their nervous system and they need to be able to do that throughout the day. If you don't give children an opportunity to get active and use energy, they won't have a chance to regulate their nervous system.I love focusing on positive rewards with kids. One of the ideas I share in this episode is instead of taking away recess, try incentivizing extra recess, free time at the end of the day, or other special privileges when they complete their work. For example, if students last 10-15 minutes of your school day, you can reward them with free time as long as their work is complete. Kids who have not finished their work or who didn’t follow the rules as expected will need to finish their work or have reflection time instead. This way as a natural consequence, the kids will lose that time- without losing the recess time that is essential to their ability to regulate.Today's episode offers valuable insights into the benefits of recess in schools and offers practical solutions to help kids regulate their nervous system through movement. You don't want to miss it.And if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to join us at our upcoming Educate and Rejuvenate event this summer. 120. Make Your Goals Easy with Minimum Baselines

This is the first episode I've recorded by myself here since the Self-Love Challenge! That means it's almost been a month since I've been in the studio to record a new episode. I'm so excited! Today we are talking all about how to make your goals easy with minimum baselines. We touched on making goals easy during the Self Love Challenge and when I was doing one of the calls with the Club and VIP challengers. One of the concepts that our community wanted to discuss more was around the concept of minimum baselines and making it EASY, so we're diving into it today. How many times have you said you’ll start something, but then it doesn’t happen? Chances are you weren’t specific about what you wanted to do and when, making it easy for us to skip it. Or you expected to jump from 0 to 60. Doing this makes your goals harder not easier, so it's easier to not keep your goals.MINIMUM BASELINES are a great way to clarify what we want and implement habit stacking, a crucial component to creating lasting habits. We also want to make completing the routine easy, even on the busiest days. This is where we want to make a minimum baseline for each routine step. The point of a minimum baseline is to set the bar low for what is acceptable for the habit, making success easy.  So often, we feel the need for things like this to be significant every time to be meaningful. But it’s more about building habits and routines than anything else. This is just one of the ideas we dive into today. If you want to make your goals easy, one way to do that is by making it super basic and easy to where it almost feels silly and pointless. If you want to learn how to keep your goals better, make long lasting routines and more, keep listening to today's episode!Attend the Wife Teacher Mommy Mindset MasterclassJoin Wife Teacher Mommy Club. Showing Yourself Love vs Expectations of Others (DAY #11 SELF LOVE CHALLENGE)

We are inherently wired for connection, seeking love and validation from others as a biological imperative, according to interpersonal neurobiology. The concept of manuals for others highlights the tendency to hold unspoken expectations for loved ones, which can lead to disappointment and hinder genuine connection; fostering internal validation rather than relying solely on external sources enables a more fulfilling and unconditional experience of love.Get the FULL Self-Love Challenge experience FOR FREE! Observing Self-Talk/Thoughts and Beliefs About Ourselves (DAY #2 SELF LOVE CHALLENGE)

Compassionately acknowledging our current thoughts and actions, we recognize that there’s wisdom in where we are, debunking the notion of “shoulds” and cognitive distortions. While being observers of ourselves, we learn to adjust our thoughts and actions using the metaphor of a magic dial, aligning ourselves with self-love, acceptance, and compassion daily as we navigate teaching, parenting, and life.Get the FULL Self-Love Challenge experience FOR FREE! Your Self Love Baseline (DAY #1 SELF LOVE CHALLENGE)

First, I want to congratulate you for being here. By doing so, you have showed love to yourself already. You made a microcommitment to yourself simply in the one-second decision to hit "play" on day one of this challenge. This isn't just a checklist of action items- but a challenge where I want you to see noticeable progress in your connection with yourself. This is so important- and it's not just to be self-serving.BUT to see the difference this challenge makes, we need a baseline. We need to understand where you are now as far as your self-love goes, so you can see the transformation that happens in the next 14 days. So I'm going to start by explaining the importance of observation and awareness of ourselves. You'll learn exactly how to do that today!Get the FULL Self-Love Challenge experience FOR FREE! Introducing the 14 Day Self Love Challenge

We've been talking about this as a team for a few months now, and I am so excited that this challenge is finally here! The goal of this challenge is to make starting a more intentional practice of self-love so simple to fit into your day that it can fit into your everyday life over the next 14 days with ease.... simply by putting in your earbuds and pressing play each day. Each episode will go LIVE on the podcast, but for the full experience, you'll need to REGISTER HERE to get your scorecard/tracker and to get the journal prompt emailed to you each day. Registration is FREE: wifeteachermommy.com/selflovechallengeThis challenge has been a lot of work and prep, even more so than the regular podcast- and I also feel it's some of the best work I've done yet on the podcast. Lots of time and expense has gone into this and I want it to impact as many teachers and homeschool parents as possible. I feel it's truly what every teacher needs. We have a goal to get at least 5,000 teachers registered for this challenge in the first month, and THEN to keep it going- to have this challenge continue running whenever a new teacher stumbles across it, as this is a challenge that any eductor can start anytime, anywhere. Super accessible. A few things you can do to help me help as many educators as possible and to reach our goal:1) Rate & Review Wife Teacher Mommy: The Podcast on Apple Podcasts, if you haven't already done so. 2) Share the link to register for the FREE challenge with all of your teacher friends.
