"You Can't Win Here!"

The Anaheim Ducks had an intense week of hockey against Canadien opponents. They went on the road winning two games and also losing two games. During the road trip the Ducks temporarily lost control of their own destiny for the Pacific Division title, but then they retained it courtesy of the Calgary Flames. The Ducks beat the Flames on the road and then again at home for the 25th time in a row during the regular season. The Ducks win streak at home against the Flames is longest active streak currently in the NHL.The biggest concern for the Ducks right now is the health of their defensive core. Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen were both injured in the Ducks overtime loss to Edmonton. Cam Fowler was injured in the recent physical game against Calgary. The Ducks are also without Korbinian Holzer, who had to return home to Germany for personal reasons. On this show, we talk about the Pacific Division playoff picture, player injuries, and the Olympics.

Ducks Surge Ahead of Canadian Road Trip

The Anaheim Ducks have won four games in a row and now find themselves in first place in the Pacific Division. The San Jose Sharks have lost six in a row making the Pacific Division a toss up between them, Anaheim, Calgary, and Edmonton. The Ducks do control their own destiny as they hold a two point advantage over San Jose and Edmonton. One reason for the Ducks success has been the captain Ryan Getzlaf, who was named the 3rd star of the week by the NHL. He had seven assists in his last three games. Another reason for the Ducks winning ways has been Jonathan Bernier who has gone 8-0-1 since his regulation loss back on March 5th to Vancouver. He had a 1.64GAA and .944 SV% during that time span. On this show, we discuss the Ducks playoff chances, roster moves, player updates, and more!

This past week the Anaheim Ducks went 3-0-1 in their last four games. They now only sit four points behind the San Jose Sharks with 10 games remaining in the season. The Ducks have leaned on Jonathan Bernier recently with John Gibson dealing with a lower body injury. Gibson came back and played in the previous week against St. Louis, but appears to have reaggravated his injury. The question for Randy Carlyle is if Gibson is healthy before the season ends, then will he go with him in net or continue with Bernier who has gone 5-0-1 in his last six starts. On this show, we talk about the Ducks goalie situation and the importance of the final weeks of the season.

They have gone 3-2-0 since then and are battling it out with Calgary and Edmonton for second and third place in the Pacific Division. On this show we talk about the Ducks chances of finishing the season strong and how far will they go in the playoffs. The Ducks just got back John Gibson from injury and Antoine Vermette from suspension. Anaheim: Go Big or Go Home

The Anaheim Ducks acquired Patrick Eaves from the Dallas Stars for a 2017 2nd round draft pick last week. The move was to help improve the Ducks offense and power play, but many feel it isn't enough if Anaheim wants to go deep in the playoffs this postseason. The Ducks enter their bye week two points behind Edmonton for second place in the Pacific Division. The question for the Ducks is will they go big this trade deadline or not? Bob Murray doesn't usually go big at the trade deadline and this year he said he didn't want to trade any defenseman for a rental player. On this show, we discuss possible trade partners and options for the Ducks. We also discuss several trades that have already happened in the past couple of days and how some may affect the Ducks.

Trade Deadline: Murray's In The Driver's Seat

The Anaheim Ducks General Manager Bob Murray isn't interested in trading for rental players come this NHL trade deadline. Murray's phone has started to ring and he has plenty of depth on a young blueline to make a move. The Ducks have six defensemen who are 25 or under: Cam Fowler, Sami Vatanen, Josh Manson, Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Montour, and Shea Theodore. On this show, we talk about who the Ducks may trade from their blueline. Murray could trade Vatanen in order to bring ina long-term forward instead of a rental. Montour and Theodore could also be options as Murray has received phone calls on both. With the expansion draft coming in the future, Murray could also trade Manson in order to avoid losing him in the draft for nothing. We explore all these options on this podcast. We also cover the new forward line combinations, how Anaheim can improve in the final months of the season, and their chances in the postseason.

Anaheim: Cap Problems

The Anaheim Ducks came out of the All-Star break receiving some good news today. Jakob Silfverberg was at practice skating with contact and Nate Thompson was present as well after being loaned to San Diego for conditioning. Thompson is still listed on the Long-Term Injury Reserve, but when he officially comes back there will be cap issues for Anaheim.Per Capfriendly.com, if Thompson is activated then the Ducks would have only about $200,000 left in cap space. On this podcast, we discuss some options which are available to Anaheim. The Ducks could send some a forward down to San Diego to create some breathing room. Anaheim could also look to trade a defenseman or even possibly Jonathan Bernier. The Ducks did recently acquire Jhonas Enroth and sign Ryan Faragher giving them six goalies in the minor league system(San Diego and Utah combined).
