Today is our birthday!!! I mean it's Kelly's birthday and my birthday. Yvonne has her half birthday today so we're pretending it's it her birthday too. "What a frame is to artwork ~ a cloche is to whatever is in it!" Anita from Cedar Hill Farmhouse. A great way to describe what we are going to be talking about today! Every home decorator should have some of these. What are we talking about today? Really creative, amazing and ingenious ways to use cloches, hurricanes and any glass cylinder! Today we have lots of great ideas for you! A cloche or hurricane or glass cylinder is a decorating staple. They can be filled with candles but don't stop there! After the abundance of the holidays your first thought when asked "Where to store holiday decor?" Might be, "THE DUMPSTER"! But nooooo, we love our trees, wreaths, garlands, ornaments, reindeer, angels, tinsel.... and everything else shiny & brite. But for all things there is a time and for all things there is a PLACE. Firstly, purge any Christmas decor that you didn't put out (if it didn't make the cut chances are it won't next year!) - purge any Christmas decor you really don't love ( and we mean LOVE ) and purge any decor that has seen better days. The tired old elf is gonna look even more bedraggled next year! Ok, now you have the cherished & LOVED decor to pack away. Use bins or sturdy boxes. Clear or labeled work best. Kelly suggests creating an "open first" box that contains the items you like to start with so you aren't opening bin after bin looking for a certain item. Kelly & Yvonne both start decorating with their mantles. So their "open first" boxes will contain all the items for the mantle. Get the idea... Organize your bins by area, tree or even color, but do organize them and group 'like' things together. The 'like' can be where they go, the color or type of thing. This makes decorating next year easier & more efficient. If you have artificial trees and no tree bag pick up a pack of these tree bags. Click HERE Kelly likes to use large black bins so they contain her long tree topper & picks. Click HERE Yvonne likes to use smaller clear boxes so she can see whats inside. Click HERE Storing a wreath is no problem with these handy circular bags with handles. Click HERE Or try a hard plastic container for wreaths with fragile bits. O, CHRISTMAS TREE... O, CHRISTMAS TREE! We all love to decorate a Christmas tree. They may all look different and we may have certain opinions about what goes on a tree and what doesn't. Christmas trees are a very individual thing. Today we are sharing how to make your tree the best from the tree skirt to the star on the top!!!! The most important thing to do with a faux tree is to "fluff" it. Make sure the branches are pulled apart and fluffed up! If you have a live tree make sure to recut the bottom of the tree off. And keep it well watered! Cover your floor before you set up your tree. When you are putting up your tree make sure to wear garden gloves to protect your hands. After you get your tree in its stand the lights come next. Make sure to check the lights to make sure they all work! See the LIGHT KEEP PRO to fix a string of light that don't work. ARRANGING BED PILLOWS can be a bit controversial!!! Lots of pillows piled high or only sleeping pillows! Euro pillows or standard pillows? How many decorative pillows? Or do you throw a few pillows on the bed and call it a day? We love bed pillows!!!! Today we are talking about our favorite ways to arrange pillows on our bed. Put a big basket in your bedroom to collect your bed pillows while you are sleeping. We are all fans of Eruo pillows!!!! Euro shams come in various sizes so be careful you know what size they are. Here are sizes for euro shams... standard sizes: 26 x 26... king 36 x 36 Use 2 king size pillows on a queen size bed. They will cover the length of the queen bed. If you like fluffy pillows use inserts that are one size bigger than the pillow cover. What a difference it will make! Don't forget to add a little throw at the end of the bed to balance the pillows! Here's a secret for a fluffy designer looking duvet, double your duvet insert. It's a little heavy to sleep with but if your duvet is more decorative go for it! It will make your bed look stunning!
