Libra season arrives at the beginning of the autumn, or fall, in the Northern Hemisphere. This is when the Sun enters at the time of the Autumn Equinox. As well as offering us a key turning point in the Wheel of the Year, it is also a reminder that we need to shed and release and how important that process is in the cycle of life. Libra is represented by the image of the scales, seen as the balance of Justice. Libra brings its thoughts, communication and words to the efforts of keeping that balance. It’s archetype is often seen as the diplomat, the one in a family who is the peace keeper, even when it comes at a cost to their own peace of mind. It is yang in expression, but this is a Venus-ruled sign, so we still see the principle of attraction and a focus on relationships. Libra will be attuned to the energy in a room, will consider how they can help rebalance it, and may feel uncomfortably pulled between choices. Venus is currently empowered in her domicile in Taurus. Venus in Taurus moves slowly, with steadiness and reliability, she knows her worth and her values. Venus in Taurus seeks and luxuriates in the sensual pleasures of life. There is no clear line of sight from Taurus to Libra by traditional aspect, but Venus supports the Full Moon through the principle of Like Engerding. Libra’s exalted ruler, Saturn, is in Aries, in fall or detriment, a place of discomfort, where Saturn must rely on non-conventional skills to navigate it’s way in unfamiliar territory. Saturn is opposing the Full Moon creating tension. In Aries, a fire sign, things can move quickly and instinctively. This may create a tension which may feel like seeking clarity, but not having the full picture yet, feeling uncertain how to hold the commitment we desire, or meet the responsibility and our need for autonomy. What a Full Moon isFull Moons bring our earthly concerns to a form of culmination or visibility. They reveal what has been growing since the New Moon and ask for recognition, response, or release. A Simple New Moon Ritual SuggestionNew Moons mark the planting of seeds. In Pisces, the ritual is gentle and flowing, the best time to do this is a few days after the New Moon, as the Moon begins to wax and gain light once more. Sit somewhere calm and quiet and light a candle. If possible, place a bowl of water next to the candle to symbolise the element of Pisces or go outdoors to sit near a body of water. It is an introduction to the first Aquarius Eclipse, with Pluto present in Aquarius, that any of us has ever experienced. The Burning QuestionThe burning question of this Full Moon, at a time when you may find yourself grappling with tricky contradictions and conflicting messages, is simple yet profound: Where does duality show up in your life right now? And more importantly, does it torment you—or does it teach you? The Gemini Full Moon arriving on December 4th might feel like it is here to force you into making some premature choice, but that is not where you will find clarity. Instead, it’s here to illuminate something most of us would rather avoid: the uncomfortable truth that something inside you is trying to express two realities at once.My teacher, Adam Elenbass of Nightlight Astrology, reminds us regularly that two things can be true at once, and never is that more relevant than under this mutable Full Moon in Gemini, with the Sun opposite in Sagittarius. This is the axis of information versus meaning, and of gathering versus understanding. Where Contradiction Becomes ClarityTraditional astrology calls Gemini and Sagittarius (as well as Virgo and Pisces) “double-bodied” signs for good reason, they arrive at seasonal crossroads where the weather and light can’t decide what they want to be, a time of transition. They’re threshold keepers, teaching us that liminal space isn’t something to rush through, it is its own thing, a place where transformation happens.So, where do you feel mentally divided? Maybe you’re trying to “be” one thing when you’re actually two. Maybe you’ve mistaken this tension for a flaw, some failure to fit into society’s tidy categories, when it’s pointing you toward deeper self-understanding. The Gemini Full Moon illuminates these questions with Mercury’s restless intelligence, but Mercury is currently in Scorpio, newly direct, and just emerged from being under the beams, a place where it was obscured by its proximity to the Sun. Mercury is averse to this Moon, meaning its rays of light, using traditional Ptolemeic aspects, cannot reach the Moon to support it, making its influence subtle and subterranean. We must listen beneath the surface, to the whispers from our intuition. Mutable air means transition. Gemini is adept at pivoting, bridging energies, embracing flexibility and adapting. This same flexibility can make completion difficult. Air signs process through thought, and mutable air multiplies those thoughts. Under this Full Moon, your mind can spin with possibilities while your life is demanding decisions. Each new perspective multiplies the choices rather than clarifying.This is where Gemini’s yang quality matters. Yang signs are known to be outward-moving and active, but Gemini’s strength is holding multiple truths without insisting one must be wrong. It can see many viewpoints simultaneously, gather information from every direction, and yet still want more. The challenge isn’t in the gathering, it’s when it comes to choosing. That’s when mental pressure peaks, when every thought potentially becomes a blade, as we see in the associated Tarot card, the 9 of Swords .The Nature of Full Moons in Mutable AirFull Moons are moments of culmination and revelation, the seed planted six months ago with the Gemini New Moon ripens and reveals its shape. In mutable air, this illumination happens in the realm of thought and communication. The Moon in Gemini opposes the Sun in Sagittarius, creating tension between gathering information and assigning meaning. Gemini wants every piece of data while Sagittarius seeks the single truth. This opposition asks your mind to do contradictory things simultaneously to both expand and contract, and to question and conclude.Mutable signs are meant to transition, this is their home turf. They can naturally pivot and easily bridge gaps. In Gemini air, this relates to mental flexibility, you might see multiple sides of a situation and comfortably shift perspective when new information arrives.Under a Full Moon, this gift can become a challenge. The illumination doesn’t show just one clear path. It can show all of those multiple paths, each of which could be valid. The clarity you seek doesn’t come from choosing one path and abandoning the others. It comes from learning to walk a part of each of them, or at least understanding why each matters, or what it is showing you. Air signs process meaning through thought, and mutable air multiplies thoughts and so, instead of one insight, you could get a dozen. Instead of one conclusion, you might get contradictory, competing narratives. The Full Moon’s light reveals the multiplicity. deepening the complexity. We might begin to understand that truth isn’t singular, as we are shown how it’s layered and shifting. Look to where in your life Gemini and Mercury rule in your chart. The practical experience could be familiar, waking in the small hours with many interconnected problems racing through your mind. The Decan of Transformation* Co-rulers: Venus and Moon* Element: Water (Fixed)* Tarot: 7 of Cups* Wild Way Oracle: Transformation* Keywords: Unfulfilled Desires, Loss and Decay, DecompositionThe Burning Question for this New Moon is: What must we relinquish to reclaim our deeper power?This new moon in Scorpio invites us to surrender, release, shed or exfoliate our outdated forms and stories, the hidden emotional debts, unfulfilled desires, and ghost-stories we carry. Who are we, under all that weight? This is a New Moon that plunges us into deep, dark, warm and still waters and shines a reflective light on the secrets held within. The Moon is in its fall here, a place of secrecy, and hidden (or unacknowledged) desire. In the fixed, yin or feminine water sign of Scorpio, the Moon navigates shadowy terrain, where feelings run deep and transformation arises through symbolic cycles of death and rebirth. Picture dark caves or maybe you prefer hot springs, the secrets and unique life that flourishes within murky swamp water or the soggy ashes after the fire. This is the spirit realm of the serpent, the compost heap, the scorpion and the phoenix. It is ruled by Mars, but here we are offered a battle-weary side of the dusty warrior planet, the fire of conflict has been dampened by inner reflection and growth. This is the watery moat trench, or the hot bath easing aching muscles, where reflection allows old identities to dissolve and obsessions to rot away and transform into fertile soil to nourish the new.Fixed, Feminine Water: A Scorpio ContainerScorpio is a fixed-water sign, ruled by Mars. In Scorpio, we come face to face with intensity and the underworld of psyche. Currently, ruler Mars is travelling through Sagittarius, this is an outgoing fire sign which asks to expand and explore rather than digest internally. This means the Scorpio terrain is being stirred from outside, rousing what lies beneath to the surface.Scorpio is a fixed water sign, deeply yin and subterranean. The water here is still and reflective, it stews, it seeps, it remembers. The water holds intense feelings, depth, and emotional currents.The fixed modality offers endurance, an inner persistence, willpower and signifies things that can take root and hold. The feminine nature gives it receptivity, together with the Mars rulership, this gives it resolve and the ability to transform whatever it finds. Rather than flow around obstacles, Scorpio waters are more likely to dissolve them. They hold grief, passion, memory, and metamorphosis.When the Moon is new here, you may be unaware of the deep emotions being stirred up as the past rises unbidden. It will take time before the Moon’s full light reveals the secrets held within those waters and below the surface. Scorpio teaches us how to contain power, hold pain with dignity, and importantly, to alchemise endings into thresholds of renewal.The Scorpio New Moon is placed in Decan III, a place of nostalgia and profound release. Old desires, hopes and dreams may refuse to die quietly and could come up unexpectedly for re-examination. Release is an important lesson to master here. It is here we are asked to honestly confront our unfulfilled desires, unrequited loves, our obsessions, and our illusions of control. If you are willing and brave you may choose to look honestly at the reflections and surrender to the transformation that awaits.The Moon in Her Fall, Protected by MarsThe Moon is in fall in Scorpio, depressed, discomforted, vulnerable, far from her exaltation in Taurus. This lunar placement is often emotionally raw, exposing buried patterns and may bring the desire to cling. Yet from this depth, an unexpected power can arise, the only path for the Moon now is to rise up, but how?Mars, ruler of Scorpio, has no line of sight from Jupiterian Sagittarius, meaning that Mars cannot offer support to our struggling Lunar emotions at present. Burning question: How do I give to receive? How do I find a balance between work and pleasure?Taurus - The Earthy PulseIs abundance given, manifested or do you grow and nurture it? What does abundance mean for you?A Taurus Full Moon illuminates where you have been tending to and growing steady abundance. This is the sign of fertile earth where the Moon, who symbolises your Fortune, emotions, body and flow, is in her exaltation, a place of high regard. The laughter-loving, sensual Venus rules, asking you to experience beauty, value and worth as embodied experiences lived through the senses and body. Taurus is steady, solid and substantial. Picture a calm and lush garden, the hum of bees in clover, the rhythm of breath in meditation, the body’s quiet wisdom that knows when to tend and when to allow space. Here, we return to instinctive knowledge and the natural cycles and rhythms of nature. Taurus is an Earth Sign, Fixed in nature and Yin or feminine, meaning that it is receptive so the significations may be experienced internally, or in a more subtle way. Fixed signs may be known for stability, determination, reliability and persistence, also sometimes, stubbornness or tunnel vision. This is the field that has been carefully tended over time, it contains and multiplies what has been planted from the effort invested. The Moon, who moves so quickly through the zodiac, finds stability here. She can receive without depletion the gifts of exaltation and hold space for growth.This Full Moon stands out because the ruler Venus is still in her breezy home sign of Libra, so she has full expression of her benefic and bountiful significations. The exalted Moon is also bringing its highest potential, offering a sense of ease and natural flow. However, there is also the potential for the cup to spill over. Exalted planets can bring some excess of their significations, so a full range of powerful emotions may be fully experienced in the body, especially with the water trine forming and reforming over the next few weeks. The Sun in Scorpio forms a whole sign Grand Trine with Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer. Venus is the benefic planet of the night, while Jupiter is the benefic planet of the day. Jupiter is also in an exalted place, in Cancer. So both benefic planets are well placed, as well as the Moon, which adds to the potential abundant significations of this Moon. It’s a great time to connect with your senses, indulge in self-care, and prioritise what brings you joy and stability, while you reflect on what is culminating for you. The Nature of a Full MoonFull Moons reveal what has ripened, culminated or is coming to a conclusion. Astrologically, they occur when the Moon reaches an opposition with the Sun, as our two luminaries, our lights, an opposition represents a symbolic dialogue between the conscious and the instinctive, between light and shadow. Symbolically, we prepare to harvest what was sown at the New Moon. We might look at the New Moon of 2 weeks ago and the Taurus New Moon 6 months ago, as their outcomes are now visible. Full Moons can bring illumination, we see the light of the Moon, reflecting the Sun’s light and brightening the night sky, bringing awareness, and often, release. The light of the Full Moon can also be uncomfortable, it exposes with the illumination and asks for truth. We see what’s flourishing and what’s failing to thrive, and we are called on to respond. The Moon Family: Taurus II In Lunar Shadows III, Dietrich Pessin describes how lunations form families over time. Each New Moon initiates a longer storyline that unfolds over 27 months through its quarter phases. These quarter phases give us dates of likely pivot, or adjustment points in the story. This family began with the New Moon of 8 May 2024 (18° Taurus), reached its first point of adjustment on 5 February 2025 (16° Taurus), culminates now at this Full Moon on 5 November 2025 (13° Taurus), and will complete its cycle at the Last Quarter on 6 August 2026 (13° Taurus).The Taurus II story, the middle field of the Bull’s domain, where we tend and nurture what’s been planted, is a story of honouring both consistency and patience. For those with planets or angles within 11°- 18° of the fixed signs, Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, or Aquarius, this lunation family may feel especially resonant, weaving through themes of resources, values, and steady devotion.Make a note of the dates, or check back in your journal or photos to see if the New Moon and first Quarter Moon dates tell you the first parts of the story.Themes that began around May 2024 are now culminating, reaching visibility and clarity. The Burning Question: Where Do We Find Shelter in the Whirlwind?Every New Moon asks us a question which we may hear when we listen. The question now is: How can I find a sanctuary, whether it is inner, emotional, physical or spiritual, amidst any growing storm you find yourself in? Where do you find your shelter?Libra teaches us about balance, fairness, relationships and partnership, this is because of its ruler Venus, the planet of love and relationships. Libra III, with its Decanic rulers, Jupiter and Mercury (who occupy home signs opposite each other, bringing tension in their relationship), asks us to shelter, restore, and recalibrate as we try to find our place in a world that is demanding constant motion. The old adage comes to mind, ‘You cannot pour from an empty cup’. Libra wants to help, mediate, and please those around them, but to be effective in the longer run, we also have to take responsibility for our own needs too. Those with placements in Libra, or its opposite sign Aries, and the Squaring Cardinal signs, Cancer and Capricorn, have had a bumpy 2 years as the nodes transited through Libra and Aries, bringing Eclipses from April 2023 and finally left after March 2025. It is time now for the dust to settle and for the changes the eclipses in these signs brought to be integrated into daily lives and routines as the outcomes and way forward become clearer. Allow me to pull on the Astrological threads and maybe weave some of them together for the New Moon and help guide you to plan that path forward.Maybe it feels like you have been teetering on a balance beam, one side pulling toward harmony, the other toward decisive action? If you have been working on healing relationships or addressing justice issues since the Libra eclipses began, allow the darkness of the night sky now to take you within, reaching inner truths. As the Moon begins to grow in light, allow her to grow your plans for this part of your life and your chart, helping you in your journey toward equilibrium.Libra: The Cool BreezeLibra is ruled by Venus, the planet of harmony, beauty, love, grace, and connection. When Venus is in Libra, she is “at home” this means she can express her Venusian qualities in full, bringing diplomacy, attraction and social attunement to the front of our minds and supporting us in these activities. At this New Moon, Venus has returned to Libra, bringing her benefic attractions, (or things we tend to enjoy and regard as good) to bless the New Moon.Libra is an air sign, cardinal in modality, and considered masculine or yang in gender, which means its nature is more outgoing and reactive. The Air element brings in the realm of ideas, communication, and connection across differences. Cardinal Libra adds initiative, beginnings, action and intellectual clarity, perhaps a sense of leadership or forward motion, initiating change or pivots coming as Libra season does at the turning of the season and changing of the light. A Libra New Moon asks us to initiate balance, speak new agreements and reset relational contracts.Saturn is exalted in Libra, bringing discipline, structure, and long-term justice to add depth to Venus’ light-heartedness. But at this time of this New Moon, Saturn is in Pisces and retrograde, connecting us with flowing emotions, but averse to Libra, meaning the light of its rays cannot reach the New Moon. It is more of a dissolving pressure in the background, urging us to let go of rigid boundaries and reconnect to compassion, humility, and trust in flow.As the first Libra New Moon since the Libra Aries eclipses in March 2025 concluded, this Libra New Moon offers a fresh slate to integrate the upheaval experienced and renew themes seeded during the previous Libra-Aries eclipses in 2023 –March 2025, before the nodal axis fully shifted to Pisces-Virgo. Though that eclipse window has now closed, this New Moon may bring to light the realisations, decisions, and emotional reckonings from that time, offering an opportunity for synthesis and understanding as events mature going forward. You might be recognising where you’ve sacrificed too much in the name of keeping peace, or where you’ve been rigid when flexibility was needed. You may need to release old patterns while you are setting intentions for the new. Libra energy asks not for perfect balance on that gymnast’s beam but for continuous recalibration that keeps us centred amid life’s fluctuations.The wisdom of the decan of Libra III is that the peace we seek cannot be found externally, we should aim to cultivate it inwardly. The world may spin, but we are invited to find our centre and rest in the eye of the storm. As we are all likely to have experienced some impact from the Aries - Libra eclipses, it might be helpful to look back over the past two years to trace your balance-seeking journey.
