<p>Pyotr Kotchetkov made a season-high 44 saves for his 3rd shutout of the season as the Canes ended the Panthers 6 game winning streak. It was the 2nd 1-0 shutout in his last 4 starts, having shut out the Devils two weeks ago on 34 shots in an overtime win. Sebastian Aho's 21st goal of the season was the only scoring of the game and came with 19 seconds left. </p>

<p>Spencer Martin got his second straight start, made 15 saves and helped the Canes to a 6-3 win over the Blackhawks.  The win helps the Hurricanes claw to within 4 points of the Rangers in the Metro.  Six different goal-scorers for Carolina as Martin Necas and Sebastian Aho each had a goal and an assist.  Michael Bunting, Brent Burns, Jordan Martinook and Jesperi Kotkaniemi all scored, with the latter snapping a 22-game, 2 month goal drought.  Necas' 17th goal of the year was the only marker in an otherwise dominant 1st period that also saw Carolina kill off almost 2 minutes of a 5-on-3 power play.  Canes are off until Thursday when they'll take on the Atlantic Division leading Florida Panthers here in Raleigh</p>

<p>Spencer Martin has never lost a game for the Carolina Hurricanes.  He stopped 29 shots as he backstopped Carolina to a 3-1 win in Vegas over the Golden Knights.  Martin, a waiver-wire pick up last month, is 2-0 with the Canes.  He beat the Bruins in Boston during the week leading into the All Star Break.  Andrei Svechnikov scored his 12th of the season, early in the second period to draw even.  Then Seth Jarvis' shorthanded goal broke a 1-1 tie early in the 3rd as the Canes moved to within 4 points of the Rangers in the Metro.  Stef Noesen added his 12th goal of the year to close out the scoring.</p>

<p>Five different players scored goals, the penalty kill went 4 for 4 and Pyotr Kochetkov made 30 saves as the Canes beat Arizona, 5-1. Jordan Martinook scored 16 seconds into the game and the Hurricanes never trailed. Jalen Chatfield, Seth Jarvis, Teuvo Teravainen and Michael Bunting scored in the win. Jack Drury and Martin Necas had two assists each and the Canes move within 6 points of the first place Rangers in the Metro.   </p>

<p>Carolina played well, but fell short in a 4-2 loss to the Stars in Dallas. Jordan Staal scored once and added an assist. And, Pyotr Kochetkov played very well for the second straight game in making 18 saves. Unfortunately, defensive coverage mistakes cost the Hurricanes on all three goals. Jesper Fast had his 6th goal of the season as well. Staal's goal, his 7th of the season, was his 11th career marker against the Stars in 31 games.  </p>

<p>Pyotr Kochetkov shut out the Devils on 34 shots and Sebastian Aho scored the only goal in overtime as Carolina won 1-0 on Whalers night at PNC Arena.  The Hurricanes penalty kill continues to be incredible erasing all 4 New Jersey power plays en route to the win which moved the club within 4 points of the Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.  Kochetkov made two huge saves in overtime on Tyler Toffoli withj the second leading to Aho and Martin Necas combining on the game-winner.</p>

<p>Martin Necas had a natural hat trick in the first period, and then the weird stuff happened. Both goalies played. Teuvo Teravainen had four assists. And the penalty kill was a perfect 6 for 6 against one of the best power plays in the sport. Oh, and there was a goal without a goal. It was crazy. </p>

<p>The Hurricanes scored the first goal, but Vancouver scored the last. JT Miller's freebie, early in the second period held up for the 3-2 win. Elias Lindholm scored a pair of power play deflection goals in his debut for Vancouver. Jordan Martinook and Sebastian Aho countered for the Hurricanes. Carolina had only given up 7 power play goals, TOTAL, since Thanksgiving yielded two in the loss. </p>

<p>Dimitri Orlov's sharp angle goal with 36 seconds left broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Canes to a 3-1 win over Arizona.  It was Carolina's last game before the bye-week heading into the All Star break.  Martin Necas scored for the 4th time in his last 5 games, it came on the power play in the second period and tied the game at 1.  Jesper Fast added an insurance goal 13 seconds after Orlov put the Hurricanes in front.  Antti Raanta had to make just 10 saves and NONE in the 3rd period as the Canes held the Coyotes without a shot on target in the final 20 minutes.  </p>

<p>Antti Raanta made 23 saves, and fellow Fins Sebastion Aho and Teuvo Teravainen each had a goal and an assist as Carolina won for the second time in 27 hours in a 3-2 win over the Devils. Carolina beat Boston, 3-2, on the road on Wednesday and are now just 2 points behind the Rangers in the Metro. Jordan Staal's deflection goal came 25 seconds after Teravainen's 2nd period power play tally and snapped a 14 game goal-scoring drought for the captain. </p>

<p>Spencer Martin's Canes debut was a stunning 3-2 win over the Bruins. Martin Necas scored in his 3rd straight game. Jordan Martinook's late 3rd period game-winner was his 5th goal in the last 6 games. Carolina scored twice on the power play and went 4 for 4 on the penalty kill against the 4th best power play in the league. </p>

<p>The Hurricanes lost at home to the Minnesota Wild, 5-2, Sunday night.  Martin Necas and Michael Bunting scored, but defensive coverage breakdowns led to a pair of Wild goals that proved too much for the Canes to overcome.  Carolina is off until Wednesday when they skate at Boston.</p>

<p>Martin Necas, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov each had a goal and an assist as the Hurricanes beat the Red Wings 4-2. Jordan Martinook scored in his 4th straight game for the Canes and Svechnikov's 3rd period power play gave them the lead for good. Antti Raanta stopped 10 shots in the win. </p>

<p>Adam Gold interviews Justin Williams before his induction into the Carolina Hurricanes Hall of Fame. Williams' empty-netter in Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals sealed the Canes victory over Edmonton during Williams first iteration with the Canes from 2004-2009. After winning two Stanley Cups with the LA Kings, Williams came back to the Canes in 2017, and helped the team return to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2019. </p> <p>Nicknamed "Mr. Game 7", Justin Williams is tied for the most goals in Game 7's in NHL History, and finished his career with an 8-1 record in those nine games.  </p>

<p>Seth Jarvis scored a goal and had 2 assists. Jordan Martinook played in his 600th career NHL game. Andrei Svechnikov scored his 10th goal of the year. And Antti Raanta came on in relief of Pyotr Kochetkov who left the game injured in the 2nd period. </p>

<p>The Hurricanes spotted the Capitals a 2-0 lead and then scored 6 unanswered to beat Washington, 6-2. The Canes won their 5th straight game, scored twice on the power play and Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov extended their point streaks to 6 games each. In that span, the duo have scored 10 goals and added 23 assists. The power play has scored in 6 straight games. </p>

<p>The Canes out-Rangered the Rangers in a 6-1 win at Madison Square Garden. Carolina scored 2 1st period power play goals and got 28 saves from Pyotr Kochetkov as they won for the 4th consecutive time. It is the Canes longest winning streak of the season. Carolina is 10 for their last 21 on the power play and have scored at least 2 power play goals in 7 of their last 11 games. Kochetkov has a 6-1-2 record in his last 9 starts and has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 7 of those 9. Andrei Svechnikov (2 goals) and Sebastian Aho (1 assist) each extended their point streaks to 5 games. </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes lost to the New York Islanders, 5-4, in the final game before Santa loads up his sleigh.  Pyotr Kochetkov struggled in net and his team didn't protect him enough to minimize the damage as the Canes saw their 6-game point streak come to a close.  Teuvo Teravainen, Sebastian Aho, Jaccob Slavin and Stefan Noesen each scored and Andrei Svechnikov notched two assists in the loss.  Carolina is off until Wednesday when they will play in Nashville.</p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes extended their point streak to a season high 6 straight games in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Penguins. Teuvo Teravainen scored Carolina's only goal in the second period. The Hurricanes remain stout on the penalty kill after erasing all five Penguins power plays including one to close out the overtime. Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 24 shots and has allowed just 7 goals in his last 5 games. </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes put up 6 the hard way in a 6-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. The Hurricanes doubled down and then some on the power play, scoring three times with the man advantage. Andrei Svechnikov had a seat at the table for the first time in two weeks and cashed in the game's first goal and also delivered the game's biggest hits. Jordan Staal, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Michael Bunting, Seth Jarvis and Brady Skjei also scored. And, Pyotr Kotchetkov made 30 saves and was outstanding for the 4th straight game. </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes lost to the Washington Capitals, 2-1, in a shootout Sunday night.  It was the third time in the last four games at PNC Arena that Carolina lost after regulation.  The Hurricanes are now 5-3 after regulation on the season, 1-1 in the shootout.  Sebastian Aho scored Carolina's only goal and Pyotr Kochetkov made 20 saves and is 2-0-1 with a .960 save percentage in his last three starts.  And, because the team waived veteran goalie Antti Raanta this weekend and sent him to the minor leagues, they're going to rely heavily on Kochetkov until Frederik Andersen can return to action.  He's missed the last 6 weeks dealing with a blood clotting issue, but has been cleared to resume workouts and could be back on the ice in the next week.  However, it's still unlikely that we see him before the start of February. </p>

<p>The Hurricanes couldn't hold a 2-goal lead -- twice -- and lost to the Predators, 6-5, in the first of 3 straight games on home ice. Stefan Noesen and Tony DeAngelo scored 1st period power play goals as the Canes led 2-1 after 20 minutes. From there the game became wide open and Carolina's defending and goaltending let them down. Antti Raanta allowed 6 goals on 30 shots in the loss. Sebastian Aho, Jalen Chatfield and Martin Necas also scored, with Marty, and Noesen also adding assists. Michael Bunting also had 2 assists on the night. </p>

<p>The Canes played one of their best defensive games of the season in a 2-1 win over the Red Wings. Carolina allowed 26 shots, but very few were great looks and Pyotr Kotchetkov enjoyed his second consecutive 1-goal outing. Jack Drury extended his points streak to 4 with a 1st period goal and Jordan Staal poked home the game-winner after Red Wings goalie Ville Husso misplayed the puck right in front of his net.  </p>

<p>Pyotr Kotchetkov stopped 31 shots -- including a 3rd period penalty shot -- helping the Hurricanes to a 4-1 win in Ottawa. Sebastian Aho scored twice in a 3 point night and Carolina's special teams were fantastic. The penalty kill went 4 for 4, the power play converted twice and it all added up to a win that snapped the team's 4-game losing streak. </p> <p> </p>

<p>Poor defensive coverage and a soft 3rd period goal sent the Carolina Hurricanes to their 4th straight defeat, 4-3, in Vancouver.  The setback drops Carolina out of playoff position and to a 14-12-1 record on the year.  Jordan Martinook, Brady Skjei and Stefan Noesen each scored in the loss.  </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes scored 2:10 into the first period and led 2-0 after they'd played 10 minutes. But, they couldn't sustain it and ended up falling 3-2.  </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes were done almost before it started, conceding two goals in the first 41 seconds of the game in a 6-1 loss to the Oilers. Edmonton led 4-0 after the first period and the rest was just accounting. They'll try and figure it out Thursday when they play in Calgary. </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes had plenty of chances to score, but just couldn't take advantage and ended up on the short end of a 2-1 score in Winnipeg. Kyle Conner and Nic Ehlers scored for the Jets, who took a 2-0 lead late in the second period and then held on for the win. Martin Necas' 7th goal of the season, with 51 seconds left in the 2nd period brought one goal back, but Carolina couldn't find the equalizer and saw their 4-game point streak come to a close. Antti Raanta, making his first start since giving up 8 goals against the Lightning, played well, stopping 20 of 22 shots on goal in the loss.  </p>

<p>The Hurricanes dominated the Sabres Saturday night at PNC Arena, got 2 goals from Sebastian Aho and scored twice on the power play to extend their points streak to 4 straight games.  Teuvo Teravainen had a goal and an assist.  Andrei Svechnikov, Martin Necas, Jaccob Slavin and Brent Burns each had 2 assists and Brady Skjei added a shorthanded goal in the 3rd period.  The Hurricanes start a six game road trip Monday night in Winnipeg.</p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes suffered an overtime loss to the New York Islanders in spite of out-shooting New York by nearly 3-to-1! Carolina put 43 shots on Isles' goalie Symeon Varlamov, and scored 4 times. But, New York got five past Pyotr Kochetkov on just 16 shots on goal. A week ago the Hurricanes saw the Lightning score 8 on just 14 shots. Jalen Chatfield, Jordan Staal, Jack Drury and Sebastian Aho all scored as the Hurricanes failed in their attempt to win their 3rd straight game. </p>

<p>The Hurricanes beat the Flyers, 4-1, using hard work, solid goaltending and steady play throughout the lineup. Michael Bunting and Brendan Lemieux each filled in for Andrei Svechnikov, who missed the game due to an illness. Bunting subbed for Svech on the top line and scored the game's first goal. Lemieux drew into the lineup for the first time in 8 games and scored his 2nd goal of the year to break a 1-1 tie in the 2nd period. Pyotr Kotchetkov stopped 27 shots and Seth Jarvis and Jasper Kotkaniemi added late 3rd period goals in the win.  </p>

<p>Andrei Svechnikov scored his first of the year in his 12th game of the season helping the Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday night.  Carolina and Columbus started the third period still looking for the game's first goal, but Karil Marchecnko and Johhny Gaudreau each scored -- with both goals deflecting off Carolina defenseman Brady Skjei -- to give the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead roughly 7 minutes into the period.  But, goals by Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei got the Canes even and Andrei took a pass from Sebastian Aho for the game-winner with 1:55 left in regulatiion.  Pyotr Kochetkov won his 3rd game of the season, stopping 21 of 23 Columbus shots.</p>

<p>After a dominant defensive performance in the first period, the Carolina Hurricanes were undone by a Tampa Bay Lightning power play explosion in an 8-2 loss at PNC Arena.  Tampa hit the Canes with power play goals three times in a 4:20 span of the 2nd period that saw Carolina's 1-0 lead dissolve into a 2-goal defecit before 6 minutes were gone in the frame.  The Hurricanes would pull one back on a Michael Bunting power play marker late in the period, but Tampa scored 5 unanswered in the 3rd period as they ran away and hid from the Hurricanes.  Carolina will close out a 5-game home stand on Sunday at 5:00 against the Blue Jackets</p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes scored 4 times in a 5:30 span in the middle of the first period and mashed the Edmonton Oilers, 6-3, getting the Thanksgiving weekend off to a great start.  The Canes got goals from Jesper Fast, Jack Drury, Teuvo Teravainen and Seth Jarvis as they roasted the Edmonton defense in the 1st period.  Then Martin Necas stuffed home an early goal in the 2nd period to make it 5-1 before the tryptophan took over.  Antti Raanta started, but left after one period with a lower body injury.  Pyotr Kochetkov finished up and played well in relief.  Carolina will try for a 3rd straight win on Friday when they host Tampa Bay.</p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes reminded everyone of who they are in a 4-2 win over the Penguins on Saturday night at PNC Arena.  Antti Raanta stopped 26 shots, Seth Jarvis scored twice and the Sebastian Aho-Jarvis-Teuvo Teravainen line combined for 7 points as the Canes bounced back from Wednesday's disappointing loss to Philadelphia.  Now, we'll see if they can do it again on Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers</p>

<p>The Hurricanes couldn't overcome their own sloppiness and missed chances as they lost to the Flyers, 3-1, at PNC Arena. It was Carolina's first loss of the season on home ice and a bad way to start a 5-game home stand. Stefan Noesen scored the Canes' lone goal, but Carolina had several great chances to put pucks behind Philadelphia's goaltender Carter Hart. The Hurricanes will now have two days off before hosting the Penguins on Saturday.  </p>

<p>For the 9th time in his career - ans 2nd time this year - Martin Necas scored an overtime game winner. 90 seconds into extra time, Necas redirected a Sebastian Aho pass over the shoulder of Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkanen and the Canes had their 2nd straight win and their 5th in their last 6 times out. Carolina improves to 4-0 in games that have gone beyond regulation and Necas has 2 goals and an assist in the 3 that were decided 3-on-3. Tony DeAngelo and Brady Skjei also scored for Carolina who got a great game from goaltender Antti Raanta. His 19 saves were enough to win his 3rd straight start. </p>

<p>The Carolina Hurricanes rallied from a 3-0 second period deficit to defeat the New York Islanders, 4-3, in overtime.  Sebastian Aho's 2nd goal of the year sent them back to Raleigh with 4 of 6 points on a 3-game road trip.  Jalen Chatfield's 1st goal of the season came just 32 seconds after the Islanders scored to make it 3-0 and started the comeback.  Dimiti Orlov also scored his first of the year -- and first in a Carolina uniform -- followed by Jesperi Kotkaniemi's 5th as the Canes rallied to set up Aho's extra time heroics.  Antti Raanta made 22 saves in the win.  </p>

<p>The Hurricanes saw their 3-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers in New York City. Seth Jarvis was the only goal-scorer on the night for the Hurricanes who now fall 4 points off the Metropolitan Division lead after 11 games. Frederik Andersen made 24 saves in the loss. The Canes will play the Islanders on the Island Saturday night. </p>

<p>Frederick Andersen overcame a slow start to make 26 saves - 12 in the 3rd period - as the Hurricanes rallied for a 3-2 win over the Flyers. Teuvo Teravainen's 8th goal of the season, with a little less than 4 minutes to play was the game-winner. Carolina's penalty kill went 5 for 5 on the night, while they scored on their only power play of the evening. Michael Bunting scored that goal, drawing the Canes even at 2-2 in the second period. Bunting, who assisted on the Teravainen game-winner and Stefan Noesen each had a goal and an assist.  </p>

<p>Teravainen's third career hat trick and 20 saves from Antti Raanta boost the Hurricanes to a 3-0 win over San Jose. Andrei Svechnikov played his first game since March 11 as he returns from knee surgery. Teravainen's 7 goals leads the Hurricanes and is tied for 2nd in the league. Raanta's shutout is the 20th of his career in 2-plus seasons with the Hurricanes. Carolina is off until Monday when they play in Philadelphia at 7:00.  </p>

<p>Martin Necas scored twice and assisted on another as the Hurricanes broke their 3-game losing streak with a 3-2 OT win over Seattle. Necas scored his 3rd of the season late in the 1st period to cut a 2-goal deficit in half. Then with less than 5 minutes to play, he found Jesperi Kotkaniemi in the slot for the goal that brought Carolina even at 2. Then with under 10 seconds left in overtime, Necas took a pass from Tony DeAngelo and whipped home the game winner. Carolina will try to win their second straight when they host San Jose on Friday night. </p>

<p>Carolina played a much better game, but still fell to Tampa Bay, 3-0. The Canes allowed a power play goal late in the first period that proved to be enough for the Lightning. Brayden Point's deflection of a Victor Hedman shot fluttered past Pyotr Kochetkov for the only goal the Bolts would need, sending the Canes to their 3rd straight loss. The Hurricanes will try to snap their losing streak on Thursday night against the Seattle Kraken at PNC Arena. </p>

<p>Canes fall apart as Colorado scores 4 straight goals to close out the 2nd period and fall 6-4 in Denver.  Carolina held a 3-2 lead after Brent Burns and Michael Bunting scored a minute and a half apart in the 2nd period.  But, with about 7 1/2 minutes left in the frame Frederik Olafsson tied the game and the Avs would score three more times to take a 3-goal lead into the 3rd.  Stefan Noesen and Jesperi Kotkaniemi each had a goal and an assist in the loss.  Carolina has a couple of days off before heading to Tampa to meet the Lightning on Tuesday. </p>

<p>The Kraken scored twice on special teams over the final 10 minutes of the first period to build a 3-1 lead they would never relinquish. Jaden Schwartz scored on the power play at 12:18 and then Pierre Edouard Bellmare banged home a rebound for a shorthanded goal in the last minute of the first to complete a totally demoralizing back half of the frame. Seth Jarvis would score twice for the Canes in the 3rd period to make it more respectable, but it was not good enough tonight. Antti Raanta started but was pulled in the 2nd period after allowing 4 goals on 18 shots. Pyotr Kochetkov looked good in relief.  </p>

<p>Seth Jarvis scored twice, both on the power play, and the Hurricanes stormed back with 4 third period goals to beat San Jose, 6-3. Jarvis opened the scoring for the Canes with a first period goal. He pounced on a rebound and punched it past Mackenzie Blackwood to tie the game at 1. Then, just 2 1/2 minutes after Stefan Noesen's power play goal tied the game at 3, Jarvis ripped a slap shot from the right circle past the glove of the Sharks' netminder to give the Canes the lead for good. Brett Pesce, Martin Necas and Jaccob Slavin also scored for Carolina. For Slavin the goal was shorthanded and it was his 2nd such goal this year. It also was the Hurricanes' 4th shorty on the year already.  </p>

<p>The Hurricanes picked up where they left off in Los Angeles in their 6-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.  Yes, the Canes beat the Kings Saturday night, but they played very poorly in doing so.  Sunday night Carolina was dreadful in the 1st period in falling behind 3-0, a score that would prove insurmountable.  However, they did make the game very interesting in the 3rd period.  Teuvo Teravainen scored two goals, the Canes also found the net twice on the power play and Antti Raanta recovered from a bad start to finish the game strong.  They'll be back on the ice on Tuesday night in San Jose.</p>

<p>Jordan Martinook's shootout goal in the 9th round sent the Canes to a 6-5 win over the L.A. Kings.  Sebastian Aho and Martin Necas each scored to keep the penalty competition alive before Martinook's first career shootout goal -- heck, his first career shootout ATTEMPT -- ended the night.  Aho scored shothanded and set up another shorty for Teuvo Teravainen.  Turbo has goals in both games so far this season.  The Hurricanes were shorthanded 7 times in the game, and the Kings scored twice with the man advantage.  Carolina was 0 for 4 on their power play</p>
