<p>Sebastian Aho's 8th career hat trick couldn't get a win in Washington as the Caps survive in shootout, 7-6. Aho's third of the game, with Carolina's net empty, sent the game into overtime. Seth Jarvis scored his 27th of the season on the power play. It was the sixth straight game with a goal for Jarvis. Jaccob Slavin and Brady Skjei each scored as well. Skjei doing so in his 600th career NHL game. Carolina's normally reliable penalty kill allowed three Washington power play goals. </p>
