We found the story of Éachtach in Richard Marsh’s book, Irish King and Hero Tales, translated from an Old Irish poem. And we’ve found it nowhere else. http://richardmarsh.ie/LegendaryBooks.htm She’s the daughter of Diarmuid and Gráinne, two of the most famous characters in Irish mythology, and a formidable warrior who defeated the great Captain of the Fianna, Fionn Mac Cumhaill, and isn’t it strange that nobody has ever heard of her? Happy New Now folks! We are bringing you a very special treat for your senses in this episode. The Fianna were lead by the great warrior Fionn Mac Cumhaill. And he had the wisdom of this world and the next. He had burnt his thumb on the Salmon of Knowledge when he was young, and in this short story, he imparts a beautifully simplistic message that we want to share with you. In this episode, Aron talks to the third founding member of Candlelit Tales, Ru O’Shea. Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Mary Mc Laughlin performs, teaches, writes and records original and traditional songs (in both English and Irish). Having lived in both England and California where she founded a Gaelic Choir, Mary has appeared on over twelve recordings and holds a PhD in Songs of the Irish Otherworld. He used tramp the roads all his working life, in search of farm work and places to sing. He used sing for his dinner at fairs and markets while farm workers were on their break.
