Book 101 Review, in its fifth season, features Jason Morris—acclaimed horror film director, producer, festival organizer, and distributor—sharing his creative journey and chilling storytelling craft.
Horror Film Director: Jason D. MorrisI’m Jason D. Morris, an independent filmmaker dedicated to exploring the strange, the unsettling, and the unexpectedly funny corners of cinema. My work sits at the crossroads of horror, comedy, and genre storytelling, with a focus on creating films that feel fresh and surprising while staying true to the DIY spirit of independent filmmaking. My latest feature, The Space Rodent, is a horror-comedy made on a shoestring budget that has already made waves on the festival circuit, picking up awards and building buzz. It’s now being released by SRS Cinema on Blu-ray, complete with exclusive bonus features and a free collectible poster for pre-orders. This project represents everything I love about micro-budget filmmaking: creative problem-solving, bold genre mashups, and a collaborative set environment where laughter is as essential as scares. But my story as a filmmaker didn’t begin here—it stretches back to some of the earliest experiments in web content.Breaking Ground with One of the First Web SeriesIn 2004, long before YouTube became the cultural force it is today, I created Millennium Apocalypse, one of the first-ever web series. At the time, streaming wasn’t common, and the concept of a serialized online show was still experimental. That project taught me the value of risk-taking, innovation, and perseverance. It also planted the seed for my lifelong commitment to pushing boundaries within storytelling. From $200,000 Budgets to Gas Money and FoodOver the years, I’ve worked on projects across the financial spectrum—from productions with budgets upwards of $200,000 to films made with little more than gas money and meals for the crew. That range of experience has given me a unique perspective on how resources impact creativity, and why limitations often spark the most innovative solutions.Working at both extremes has taught me that money can buy polish, but it can’t buy passion. Some of my favorite projects were born in the trenches of micro-budget filmmaking, where everyone involved is there because they truly believe in the story being told.Wearing Many Hats: Director, Producer, Festival Organizer, DistributorSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Book 101 Review, now in its fifth season, features Magic Barclay—bestselling author and podcast host—as my guest.
Magic BarclayHealth is the fuel for creating a magical life. Join me in this amazing podcast community https://podmatch.com/signup/podmatchamagicallife never truly felt well. After surviving a rough childhood, torn between a narcissist of a father and an unfeeling and emotionally neglectful mother, I learnt that I was the only one I could depend on. I always felt like 'the black sheep' and found it hard to trust anyone. In my teens, my lack of control in my life led to anorexia and binge eating disorders. My weight was about all I could truly take charge of. By the age of 17, I had also become a binge drinker- leading to becoming an alcoholic by age 21.After transferring this lack of self relationship to relationships with others, I found myself at the end of a string of emotionally vacuous and harmful relationships- culminating in a marriage to a narcissist (don't all girls end up marrying a version of their father?). Those self esteem issues came back and again via my weight- I protected myself by becoming morbidly obese. That was the only way my body could physically be off limits to an abusive husband (or so I thought). After 14 years of being told I was ugly, worth nothing, a horrible mother and much more- I left! I packed the kids, dogs and cats into the car, loaded a truck and fled town. The next 4 years saw a drawn out legal battle which saw me lose everything except my babies. I had to start again but the toll of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Adverse Childhood Relationship Experiences (ACREs) and my adult relationship disasters (including the one with myself), years of stress and physical trauma to my body culminated in multiple conditions that threatened to end my life.I threw myself into study, learning about the systems of he body and how they each worked in harmony with each other, I sought help with my trauma and became truly well, truly loved (by myself and my kids).I continued my study after becoming well and even though other conditions formed from medical negligence (before I was the master of my own health). I continued to become stronger, more able to handle anything in life and free from the past both physically and emotionally. Now I am an instructor of PNEI of Trauma, the lead practitioner at Wholistic Natural Health Australia and the host of my own podcast.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Boy in the Tree: When Weak is OkayWhen a curious boy decides to climb a beautifully twisted tree, what starts as an adventure quickly becomes his worst nightmare.Frozen with fear at the treetop, he can't get down. As worried friends and neighbors gather below, embarrassment floods through him. Why can't I be brave like the other kids? Why do I need help when I should be strong?Through one terrifying afternoon stuck high in the tree, this young boy's world changes. That scary day stays with him as he grows up, until he finally learns an important truth: “being weak isn't bad, and failing's okay, because everyone does it, often each day.” Even adults sometimes need rescuing, and that's perfectly normal. From the author of Your Missing X Factor, this beautifully illustrated story shows children that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Time? Family? Money? Health? The truth is, you’re much closer to that reality than any other time in history. The world has changed. Competition used to define the marketplace, separating winners from losers in a cut throat game of money making. Businesses sacrificed everything trying to achieve the coveted number one spot. Book 101 Review, in its fifth season, features Ara Trembly a licensed counsellor and practicing psychotherapist as my guest.
Dreaming God's WayHumans have been fascinated by dreams and their meanings since the beginning of recorded consciousness. Poets, philosophers, mystics, and psychologists have explored the dream world with intense interest. The Bible itself is filled with vivid dreams that are personally and historically significant and through which God speaks to humans and even nations. In the Jewish tradition, the Talmud views dreaming as a means by which God communicates with the soul and dream interpretation as a valuable spiritual activity. Yet the subject of dreams is almost entirely absent in today's Christian psychology textbooks or counseling offices. As a practicing psychotherapist, Trembly reclaims the dream world as a gift from God and asserts: "The Lord of our conscious life is also the Lord of our unconscious life." He uses examples from the Scriptures and from his clinical practice to illustrate different types of dreams, ranging from playful to prophetic to precognitive. He then provides a practical, step-by-step guide to interpreting dreams so that these messages from the unconscious mind may be an avenue for greater self-knowledge and for encounters with God, who created us.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Matthew StrunkBuilt and sold companies, yet still felt lost after doing everything “right.” Now I guide people to The Hidden Path™, freedom and purpose on their own terms.I’ve built and sold multiple companies, including a digital marketing agency and a SaaS platform, but what I discovered after those exits is what makes my story valuable for your audience: success alone doesn’t guarantee fulfillment.Like so many entrepreneurs and professionals, I did everything “right.” I built the businesses, hit the milestones, made the money: only to realize I felt stuck, bored, and disconnected. That experience taught me the dirty secret most people don’t talk about: the game of success, as the world defines it, can actually trap you.Today, I’m the founder of illumiShift, where I guide people through The Hidden Path™, a structured system to help them detox from noise, uncover their truth, and realign life on their own terms. Along the way, I share signature concepts like The Purpose Paradox (why chasing success without purpose leads to emptiness) and Fear as Fuel (how to transform fear into momentum). For your audience, this conversation isn’t just about my story, it’s about their story:- Why “having it all” often still feels empty.- How to recognize if they’re chasing society’s version of success instead of their own.- Practical tools for cutting through the noise and getting clarity on what actually matters.- How to break free from burnout, boredom, and finally start getting real traction in life.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Book 101 Review, in its fifth season, features George Sirois a Podcaster, Audiobook Narrator and Author as my guest.
George SiroisLet Author / Podcaster / Audiobook Narrator George Sirois Tell You a StoryMy experience as a storyteller goes back to childhood, when I recorded my first “audiobook” when I was 6, which was basically me reading a storybook to my cousin who was recovering from cancer surgery. I’m 4th grade, I started creating characters with my friends to pass the time between assignments and those characters led to the ones that are in my current young adult / science-fiction novels. After being a part of a roundtable podcast with other authors, I was inspired to start my own in 2018, and that show is still going strong today. And in 2023, I directed an audio dramatization of one of my own books, working with over 20 talented actors all around the world. Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? All he wants is someone who “gets” him. Who appreciates his sense of humor. Someone who can join in and keep up. Is that too much to ask?Does such a woman even exist?Enter Corinne Edwards. She may be a college educated professional, but she’s also a bit of a gypsy. With a mobile business she built from the ground up, she’s free to go where she wants–and does. Moving from city to city, she spends her free time seeing the sights and not bothering to build relationships of any kind because she doesn’t intend to stay.Imagine her surprise when she feels led to make a stop in a small town instead–and likes it! There she meets friends she didn’t know she had, a community that embraces her, and a man who, to all appearances, checks all the boxes. He’s intelligent, funny. And he gets her. Some long dormant hunger begins to awaken.Happily ever after, right? Perhaps, but with a past littered with failed attempts and a present constrained by invisible expectations, happily ever after might be easier said than done.Welcome to Sutton, the fictional small town in Ohio where the people are real and things like faith and love can blossom. Abstract Essay in its Fifth season, featuring David L Cary a Faith Fuelled Suspense Novelist as my guest.
David CaryD.L. Cary | Faith-Fueled Suspense Novelist Unmasking Evil in The Veil ChroniclesD.L. Cary is a faith-fueled suspense novelist who detonates the boundaries of clean fiction. His breakout thriller Maria’s Shadow thrusts readers into the perilous journey of a trafficked young mother who, less than two months pregnant, vows to outwit a powerful cabal to save her unborn son and expose their crimes. The danger escalates in The Veil Strikes—Book 2 of The Veil Chronicles—where a newly sanctioned, off-the-books task force assembles on a Texas ranch with a single mandate: root out the corruption strangling America’s highest institutions, no matter the cost.Cary’s work ignites high-octane action, redemptive faith, and razor-sharp social commentary into stories that leave readers breathless yet hopeful, proving that courage and conviction can still prevail over darkness.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Book 101 Review, in its fifth season, features Matthew Dickson a Founder of Mind Aid as my guest.
Matthew DicksonFounder of Mind Aid, the world's first website with all the groups helping people with mental illness in developing countries on one site; first person with schizophrenia to bicycle across CanadaI had an average life growing up in a small town in Canada, and then out of nowhere I decided to bicycle across Canada in the middle of university. I completed the trip in 1992, but two years later I developed schizophrenia. My dreams were shattered and my only goal was to save my life and get my health back. Once I started recovery, I noticed a small improvement in my mental health every single week and after about 3 decades I successfully recovered. I bicycled across Canada again in 2023, becoming the first person with the disease to do so!I want to tell people that the disease is not a death sentence and some people do recover from it. Who knows? Maybe you will recover from it! Always stay hopeful! You never know what tomorrow may bring!I also want to tell people they are capable of so much more than they think, and to not wait to be a super-confident person before you take action on your goals. By taking small actions over time, the actions will give you small boosts of confidence. Actions give you confidence! Don't wait for the confidence before you take action!Like building a brick wall, each action, each brick, will give you confidence that will add up over time. Who knows what you may be able to accomplish in the future! In 2018 I made the world's first website with all the groups helping people with mental illness in developing countries on one site, www.MindAid.ca. This is a cause most people don't think about, let alone know where to go to donate. But after mental health started being talked about during the 2020 pandemic, if there was ever a time this cause could take off, it is now! I know many people would donate to this cause, and I encourage people to make it and Mind Aid mainstream conversation.Listeners also come away from my talks with a lot of tools to improve their own mental health. I've learned some pretty effective tips that I am so excited to share with others as they have helped me so much! I would love to share them with your audience and help give them hope!Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Book 101 Review, in its fifth season, features Dalton Sizemore a molecular biologist, science communicator, and caregiver. as my guest.
Dalton SizemoreBiology with Heart, Humor, and a DrawlI’m Dalton — a molecular biologist, science communicator, and caregiver. I hold a BS and MS in Cell and Molecular Biology from Appalachian State University, where I focused on cancer biology, virology, and immunology. My research explored how viruses like VSV might be used to disrupt the immune processes that help cancer metastasize. I also hold a graduate certificate in clinical psychology, which helps me bridge the gap between the science of the body and the realities of the human experience. But the truth is, everything I’ve done in science is rooted in something far more personal.I’m a survivor of childhood abuse. My father left when I was young, and my mother — who raised me on her own — endured two severely abusive relationships: one during my childhood, and another while I was in high school and starting college. Those years shaped me deeply. They taught me what it means to live in chaos and still push forward, to carry pain and still protect others, and to learn, even when nothing in your life feels safe. While I was earning my degrees, I was also a full-time caregiver. My mom nearly died from a MRSA infection that turned into a kidney crisis. My grandmother is disabled and was one of the first people in the U.S. to receive an implantable defibrillator. My sister has a seizure disorder that renders her disabled. At 22, I was managing emergency care, making medical decisions, studying biochemistry and organic chemistry, and trying not to fall apart.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Book 101 Review, now in its fifth season, features author Jim Marshall as my guest.
Septemics: Hierarchies of Human Phenomena: Analysis, Prediction and Management of Human AffairsPortions of this book are posted on Septemics.com Isaac Asimov, in his famous Foundation trilogy, imagined a future in which a science of the mind could accurately predict human events. This work is a down payment on that promise. It comprises a revolutionary and elaborate system for accurately analyzing, assessing, predicting and managing the behaviors and characteristics of groups and individuals. It is a textbook about a new philosophical science called Septemics, which consists of thirty-five scales, each of which delineates the exact sequence and patterns in which human beings actually behave and manifest in various contexts. Each of these scales describes an axis upon which individuals, and/or groups, advance or decline. This book would generally fit into the literary category of Psychological Philosophy, although there has never been a book quite like this in human history. One must actually read the book in order to access the power of its contents, because it is not like anything else.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Christopher SpragueLeadership Consultant Enabling Organizations and People to Be Their Best.Chris' leadership model isn't what you'd expect. It isn't a Fortune 100 executive or a hardworking manager who encouraged him to be his best. It was his high school math teacher, who inspired greatness in students and enabled them to achieve far more than expected. Why do some leaders inspire greatness, while others create toxic or stagnant environment? While leadership models abound, poor management and unhealthy workplaces are common, stifling the potential of people and organizations. Why did a high school teacher succeed where so many business leaders fall short? To find out Chris surveyed hundreds of people about their most powerful and positive leadership experiences. A clear pattern emerged: stories of inspirational leaders who brought out their best did occur but were uncommon in the workplace. Chris seeks to reveal what drives inspirational leadership and how it empowers individuals, teams, and organizations to achieve more than they thought possible, in a healthy, sustainable way.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review?
