Music and Motivation - Jono Grant #122

E

Energy, creativity, music and motivation, and how these themes all tie together. Jono Grant is one of the world's top DJs. He and I had a caffeine-fuelled chat on music and creativity, and how he gets into the creative vibe. Above and Beyond are obviously a massive worldwide success and he also talks about the biggest gig he ever played - in front of 1 million people in Rio. He's also responsible for the music that you hear at the start of the podcast. We recorded this as part of a special Spotify series on music. If you'd like to listen to the full series head over to Zestology on Spotify. One more thing - listen out for the end of the podcast where I'm recording at the famous Morning Gloryville party.

Hangovers, longevity, IV drips - Dr Josh Berkowitz #121

DISCLAIMER: This week's podcast was not recorded on a hangover 😂 IV drips - do they work if you are healthy but in need of a boost? Can they get rid of your hangover? The big question! How can you use nutrients to help you live longer? This podcast was recorded WHILE I had an intravenous drip pumping 25 grams of Vitamin C and 1.5 grams of Magnesium into my bloodstream. Dr Josh Berkowitz's treatments are based on the direct intravenous introduction of fluids and vitamins into the body. IVs are the quickest way to deliver fluids into the bloodstream. Check out the drip gently releasing Vit C into my arm while we chat on the website - pics there. But how did I feel when I got one while talking to Dr. Josh? And could high-dose vitamins and minerals pumped into your body benefit you? I love meeting world experts, chatting to them and rolling my sleeves up and trying new stuff at the same time. I hope you enjoy listening to it too. You can listen now on iTunes, Spotify, and the website. Also very cool - if you want to try it out for yourself, you can quote Zestology when you contact them at ivboost.uk and get 30% off. A not too shabby discount. Stay zesty.

50/50 Work Life Balance - Anna Williamson #120

Sometimes we get so mired in stress, anxiety or wrapped up in our problems, it's hard to remember how to relax. So today I speak to one of the UK's top psychologists all about stress and balance. Anna Williamson used to be a pop band, then was one of the UK's most popular children's TV presenters. It's quite a journey from that to respected psychologist (yes, I just used the J word). She's now the resident psychologist for Big Brother and ITV's This Morning, two of the biggest shows on UK television. Join us as we discuss 'funny mind stuff'. She's had her own problems with anxiety and stress, and she's now all about balance. Anna and I met to record at a venue in Central London - possibly the noisiest hotel in the city. Somehow it doesn't sound too loud on the interview though, thanks partly to some very friendly people we met who talked sotto voce while we recorded.

The anti-guru is back - Sarah Knight #119

E

The author of the brilliant best-selling book - The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k. I keep seeing people reading this book all over London. It's been a huge hit for Sarah. The interview contained such amusing parts as the four categories of potential F*** giving. Then she wrote the book - Get Your Sh*t Together: How to stop worrying about what you should do so you can finish what you need to do and start doing what you want to do. Now she's moved to the Dominican Republic, recorded a viral Tedx talk, and had a crazy Zestology-inspired coincidence. All of which is good podcast topic material. Potty-mouthed Sarah Knight specialises in best-selling books with vaguely naughty words in the title. And she's decidedly anti-guru. She's perfect for Zestology.

If you're in for some spot on, no-holds barred relationship advice, listen now on iTunes, Spotify, and the website. Also on the podcast, you'll find out what we got up to afterwards with John when we went out to dinner, what an evening.

High Dose Vitamin C- with MegaVitamin man Dr. Andrew Saul #116

I've often heard about taking a boat load of vitamin C when you get a cold to get rid of it quickly. But I've never quite known if it was actually true or not. That's why I wanted to interview Dr. Andrew Saul, AKA MegaVitamin Man. He says yes - huge amounts of Vitamin C are a natural anti-viral and can banish all kinds of ailments. So, high dose vitamins, could they be the answer to many of our health problems? Dr. Andrew Saul, "The MegaVitamin Man", has 40 years of experience in natural health. His peer-reviewed website, www.DoctorYourself.com, is one of the largest non-commercial natural health resources on the internet, it's pretty awesome. And when you hear his story about how he brought his kids up, it'll make you think. But are huge doses of Vitamins really good for us? I've definitely been upping my Vit C dosage since speaking to Dr. Andrew. And you can listen to his podcast interview right now, by clicking here on iTunes , Spotify and tonywrighton.com As always, please consult your doctor before making any changes to your diet.

The Journey - Dean Karnazes LIVE in London #115

It's all about The Journey. TIME Magazine called him one of the "Top 100 Most Influential People in the World" and he's on today's podcast, reminding us to enjoy the journey. I'm still buzzing after our latest live event in London. It was just so cool to meet lots of friendly Zestologists doing some innovative (some would say crazy) stuff to improve their energy and performance levels. We also had the legendary ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes there - the man who never stretches, even after running 300 miles! Dean is a big name. So impressive that TIME named him one of the "Top 100 Most Influential People in the World" and Men's Fitness honored him as one of the fittest men on the planet. Our topic this week? Motivation, mindset, challenges and why they're so important We go general and specific. We're chatting nitty gritty, including how Dean knocked off 50 marathons spanning 50 U.S. states in just 50 days and what it takes to run 350 miles across 80 sleep-free hours. Listen up now. Even if you aren't angling to run a marathon (or run anything for that matter), Dean's got a lot to say on getting and staying motivated no matter what you're up against. He's also quite simply a very nice man, one of life's winners who's a good guy as well.

Oxygen - Dr. Rob Pender and Tim Gray #114

On today's podcast - how to feel like you've just downed a quadruple espresso with none of the downsides. That's how it feels after some oxygen therapy you'll hear me roadtesting today. Specifically, I have two real experts in the field of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Eh? What's that? It's a pretty cool way to feel unbelievably great, quickly. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy helps patients suffering from sports injuries, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, infections, arthritis and a huge range of other medical conditions. HBOT is also used by biohackers because of the real benefits for our general health and wellness too. You're basically breathing the purest oxygen possible in a tank. I've been filming videos inside the tank over on my facebook page too. Get the quadruple espressos in! Enjoy.

Zestology Q&A - Dr. Stephen Simpson #112

We have a new format. It's the Zestology Q and A. Let me know if you like it and think it works - I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback as I'd like to know if this idea is a good one in future. Dr. Stephen Simpson is one of my regular Zestology guests. He works with top professional poker players such as Chris Moorman and Liv Boeree on helping them achieve their potential in every area of your life. Today's podcast is Dr. Steve and me answering your questions. Thank you for posting them, remember to let me know what you think, and if you have any questions for future episodes that's cool too... Dr. Stephen Simpson is an Elite Performance Coach, medical doctor, and NLP expert. Enjoy the podcast - it also contains details on the one supplement that's made a big impact for me recently and why. It's called CBS/BHMT Assist (I know - doesn't exactly sound exciting but it is honest!)

No hangover - Todd White #111

Coming up: The best way to prevent a hangover Why meditation works so well When the law of attraction and natural wine collide! If you drink alcohol, listening to this podcast may change your hangovers forever. I do - moderately, and my hangovers have got steadily worse over the years. I even staretd to feel like I was getting a hangover during drinking. Until Dave Asprey introduced me to Todd White. Todd runs America's largest natural wine company Dry Farm Wines, and it turns out much of what makes us feel bad is the preservatives put in alcohol. Take them out, and you might start to feel considerably better. Todd came over to my place and we recorded this podcast on wine, meditation (this is my fave bit of the podcast), and more. Listen to this before your next glass of something nice.)

Body Language - Elizabeth Kunhke #110

Body Language expert Elizabeth Kunhke gave me a fantastic interview. She's so much fun. Ever wondered about Donald Trump's body language? What about the body language differences between him and Vladimir Putin? And how on earth can you communicate non-verbally to get what you want? Elizabeth wrote the huge global best-seller Body Language for Dummies, so she knows a thing or two about this topic. If you enjoy the podcast, I'd be grateful if you might consider forwarding it to a friend who'd get something out of it too, and assure them that there are not normally in-depth analyses of Donald Trump's hands! Thanks and have a great week.

BONUS EPISODE: Fitness - Ben Coomber #109

Ben Coomber and I go in depth into health, fitness, stress and cortisol, how to test for this (and whether it's absolutely necessary to test in the first place.) He's got loads of passion and is a brilliant guest. Ben is one of the UK's top personal trainers and nutritionists and he's also got his own supplement range called Awesome Supplements. He's also a top bloke. One of the best parts of this podcast is why Ben wouldn't recommend his own supplements! I've released this as a special bonus episode as I wanted to get this to you quickly. I hope you enjoy. Oh. And you'll hear why eating Cheerios isn't necessarily a good idea.

So today: How to protect yourself from blue light in the evenings and revolutionise your sleep and health, and do it whilst looking (relatively) cool at the same time! James also talks about energy, clarity, and reads a book a day. What! How? James and I have got a scary amount in common so there was plenty to chat about. Relationships, setting boundaries, and living with integrity This week on Zestology I speak to an extraordinary author - Dr. Robert Glover. EMF dangers - Daniel DeBaun #106

Trust me. You REALLY need to listen to this podcast. Coming up. Why we need to worry about EMFs Protect yourself from cancer Do laptops have a significant impact on fertility? Protecting your sensitive areas! I've been trying to set this interview up for 9 months, and I'm so excited it's finally happened. I genuinely think it's one of the most important Zestology podcasts I've recorded. Daniel is a leader in shielding electronic emissions and protecting our bodies from potentially harmful radiation. He's spent his career as a technical expert in telecommunications, and now is highly focused on the electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation exposures from electronic devices. Basically, he knows his stuff. And that stuff is pretty worrying. So listen on, and do me a favour - don't put that phone in your pocket anymore. (Unless it is in airport mode).

Tapping - Ashley Meyer #105

How Tapping and Emotional Freedom Therapy can help you. And how it helped me. On this episode: How the crazy concept of tapping on various parts of the face and body is becoming more and more popular. Is this the most important podcast I've ever recorded? How "Tapping" helped me I've been meaning to record a podcast with Ashley Meyer of the Energy Therapy Centre for a long time. But as you'll here in today's podcast, I haven't quite felt ready until now. That's because I've worked with Ashley for quite a few years, with genuinely incredible results, and it felt quite private to bring it into the podcast. But now - who cares - I just want you to know about the potential of EFT or 'tapping' as well. Obviously it's not for everyone (see diagram below), and I get that straightaway it looks kind of weird. So bear with me. It's no exaggeration to say that when I took 3 months off work because of illness, this, and Ashley, were the things more than anything else that helped me get back to health. That's why I think this might be the most important podcast I've ever recorded. You can listen on iTunes, Spotify and on the website.

🍊 Meghan Currie on slowing down and loving every moment #103

More from my travels. As you know I was on the road recently in Seattle, Tokyo, Bali and Dubai. And in Bali I met up with Zestology fave and celebrated yoga teacher Meghan Currie. And her super cute dogs (see blog pic). Meghan has much to offer for anyone who is interested in living in and loving every moment. As well as being a celebrated yoga teacher, Meghan Currie also blogs to her army of followers about travel and putting raw food on your face. Last time we spoke she lived... nowhere. I couldn't believe it. She was constantly on the road, touring, holding trainings and workshops and living on the road. That's all changed - and there was a lot to catch up on.

Dave Asprey - 40 Years Of Zen #102

Ever been tempted to spend a week in a dark room with electrodes stuck to your head? I did that recently and I'm here to tell the tale. As you know I've been travelling for the last month - a trip for learning, adventures and new experiences, and this is what I did for the first week of my travels. Bulletproof's Dave Asprey has taken the 40 Years Of Zen program eight times. He joins me in this special podcast recorded in Seattle. So what is 40 Years Of Zen? It's an immersive retreat and essentially what happens is you get electrodes attached to your head which read your brainwaves. It's called neurofeedback, and I know many people are interested in taking this program. So I was keen to record a podcast with Dave to explain exactly what you get for your money. It's not cheap but I had a worthwhile time and I'm still seeing the benefits. The big benefit for me, as you'll hear, was some deep deep self-awareness. You'll also hear how I was trusting enough to let the doctors at 40 Years Of Zen send an electrical current into my head. Dave says: "Neurofeedback is the #1 most impactful biohack that I have used in my entire life. That's saying a lot, because I have spent over $300,000 on personal upgrades" So enjoy this podcast, it's a seriously powerful way to improve your energy, vitality and motivation.

Is there a pill that can make you smarter? With Dr. Andrew Hill #100

E

I've long been super suspicious about smart drugs, so I'm going to take some convincing. Is my guest on this podcast the man to prove it? Because today on the Zestology podcast, I interview a guy who's made it his mission to get us into 'peak brain state' more often. Covered on this episode of Zestology Are 'smart drugs' safe? Is there a drug that can make us smarter? How do we get into peak brain state more often? What legal supplements and stacks could we take to improve our brain function? Dr. Andrew Hill runs the Peak Brain Institute, and also leads the team of TruBrain neuroscientists that have put together some interesting and groundbreaking supplement products. They say they have helped CEOs, hedge fund managers, and artists achieve new levels of performance by using advanced neurotech devices to measure their brainwaves data when they were deep in thought, managing stress, juggling distractions, and thinking on their feet. This podcast is brought to you by Bulletproof Coffee and supplements. This month I've been going big on their Collagen protein, it's all about the Collagen for the froth in coffee, and also matcha tea too... works a treat, and gives you a flavourless shot of seriously good protein too. TV's Richard Arnold on the best time of your life #99

E

Here's what happened when I went to meet my old friend, TV's Richard Arnold. Richard is known to millions who watch him on Good Morning Britain every morning. He also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing (the UK version of Dancing With The Stars. One of the great things about Zestology is sometimes we go in depth on health, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle hacks, and sometimes keep it more general by chatting to someone who has had lots of success and find out exactly what makes them tick, and what motivates them. And when Richard and I got together for a Zestology chat, we both got all reflective. How often do you think about getting older? Might this be the best time of your life? What is the best way to deal with ageing? How do we maintain motivation as we get (a bit!) older? How do we improve with age? (Fine wine anyone?)

An almost scientific look at what makes relationships tick. With comedian Giulia Rozzi #98

E

Love and relationships. How do you make it all work? Because let's be honest, when that goes well, most things seem to slot into place. Giulia Rozzi is a writer, comedian, actress, producer and "very emotional person" (her words!). Her life is basically her work. When her marriage broke down, she performed her hit show Bad Bride all over the world. Now she presents the podcast Hopefully We Don't Split Up with her new(ish) boyfriend. This podcast involved her grilling me about my love life too. Wow. It was a lot of fun... and Giulia has picked up a lot of relationships wisdom on her comedic journey. Just don't call her a Relationship Expert.

Using The Law of Attraction to create abundance in 2017 #95

E

Get inspired, lit up and optimistic about this year with the Law of Attraction. This year, I wanted to focus on creating a podcast for you right at the start of 2017 that focuses on achieving exactly what you want, using one of the most powerful techniques that's featured on the show over the last year. And it turns out the key is not resolutions, but New Year's Intentions. Once you make them intentions, the pressure is off, and the Law of Attraction starts to send you towards what you want with powerful energy. Please do listen to the podcast for more on creating good intentions for the year ahead. How can the Law of Attraction help us make this year our best ever? What is the best way to write down our 2017 goals? The secret little behaviours that lead to big wins To answer those questions, I've done two things. Firstly, I've chatted to Zestology Law of Attraction expert Jeannette Maw. She's been on Oprah to talk LOA, and she knows her stuff. She's also been the guest on the most downloaded Zestology show of all time. Then, I went back and listened to the podcast I recorded at this time last year with elite performance coach Dr. Stephen Simpson to discuss the perfect approach to goal setting. It turns out, that there are huge similarities between the two styles to goal-setting. And the two compliment each other very well.

50 ways to look younger. Okay maybe not 50 but definitely one or two. With skin expert Andy Hnilo #91

"You have the worst facial injury I have ever seen" Those were the words Days of our Lives actor and Model Andy Hnilo heard when he came round after a horrific car accident in West Hollywood. His career, his health, and his dreams shattered, he spiralled into a long depression. And the thing he found that eventually lifted him out, provided his salvation. Andy now makes an incredible (I'm not using that word lightly) skincare brand with all natural ingredients. This stuff is the real deal. I'm a total convert. And yes, it's the first time ever I've been persuaded to use a clay mask. Why you need to listen to this podcast: There are a lot of hidden nasties in your skincare products. A lot. Post-election anxiety and pulling an all-nighter in the jungle. With Lucy McCarthy #89

This US election was a source of stress for 52% of American adults according to the American Psychological Association. There have been multiple reports of election-related fears arising on therapists' couches as never before, along with anecdotes of relationships damaged by political disagreement. (Taken from The Guardian). So whoever you voted for, based on the above figures you may not have feeling quite so much energy, vitality and motivation over the past few days. So when Zestology friend of the show, yogi and adventurer Lucy McCarthy and I met yesterday, the original plan kind of went out the window. This isn't a trump-bashing podcast. I'm fully aware that some listeners may have voted for him. It's more about how we deal with the extraordinary stimulation and fear levels that many of us have experienced over the past few weeks, and are still experiencing now. After election stress, we move on to lighter, and more enjoyable topics including voyaging

You won't believe what my podcast guest eats. With Raw Paleo's Melissa Henig #88

Today's podcast guest has such unusual advice I had to put a disclaimer on it. All material on this podcast is provided for information only and may not be construed as medical advice or instruction. No action should be taken based solely on the contents of this podcast; readers and listeners should consult appropriate health professionals on any matter relating to their health and wellbeing. So that's that out of the way. Raw Paleo's Melissa Henig is great fun, and has some very unusual dietary habits. I met her recently in California and she is great fun. She is a Health and Beauty Lifestyle Coach, and the author of the book Raw Paleo. She says Raw Paleo foods are powerful medicine. In this podcast, she has a tough job convincing me! She's also into Paleo lifestyle factors such as sunlight, earthing, water treatments, detox, correct breathing, natural movement, and relaxation practices. You'll enjoy today's podcast a lot - even if she may not convince you (or me) to eat what she does.

So I was in California recently. I got to record a few podcasts, not least with Zestology regular The Life Stylist Luke Storey. Here's what happened when we went to the beach in Santa Barbara and recorded a podcast, joined by our good mate Ryan Carter. Includes: A simple hack to make your fridge totally awesome. (Don't pretend you're not intrigued by this!) Luke Storey is well known as a stylist, appearing regularly on MTV and VH1 and working with top names like Kanye West, Marilyn Manson, Foo Fighters, Kim Kardashian and many more. But he's also a biohacker, experimenter, coach and he is now becoming as famous for this as for his styling work. So as always, there was a lot to talk about.

Uri Geller. Mind-bending and spoon-bending live on Zestology #85

Uri Geller has had an astonishing amount of press and publicity over the years. He's been on primetime TV and front page news for bending spoons, paranormal experiments, influencing football matches, being best mates with Michael Jackson and all sorts of other psychic shenanigans. Now he speaks at huge consciousness conferences and energy events around the world. Hmmm - energy - well, that got me thinking about getting him on Zestology. I first interviewed Uri 16 years ago when I was a radio presenter on Atlantic 252. I spoke to him a few times over the years, but we'd lost touch until I contacted him recently and asked him to come on the podcast. This might be one of the more controversial podcasts I've recorded so far. Why? Well, because it's Uri really. Some love him and some don't. But prepare for a fascinating, interesting and fun journey on Zestology today. If you're sceptical about Uri, that's cool, rest assured I ask him about all the negative publicity he's received over the years. I don't let him off lightly. And then, after that, it's time for a little experiment. And... guess what, it turns out Uri still bends spoons. So grab a spoon, and get listening to the wonderful Uri Geller on Zestology.

Focus

How to improve your focus with leading performance coach Karl Morris #83 According to scientists, we are surrounded by so much technology these days, even a goldfish can now focus on something for longer than a human. Researchers surveyed 2,000 participants, and the results showed the average human attention span has fallen from 12 seconds in 2000, or around the time the mobile revolution began, to eight seconds. Goldfish, meanwhile, are believed to have an attention span of nine seconds. Yeh, we need to do something about this. When I spoke to my friend Karl Morris on Zestology a while back, it got a big response. He's a leading performance coach in the world of sport and kind of a big deal (though he'd be far too modest to admit that himself). Last time we looked at designing a good day, and asked the question, 'What does a good day look like'. So we've gone in for more good days, more staying in the present and more what Karl calls Neutral Thinking. It all adds up to improving your focus and attention. How will this podcast help you? You'll get tips on staying in the moment, and improving your attention and focus. And we look at mindset too. Not positive thinking (which can be unrealistic), not negative thinking (which is just meh), but Neutral Thinking, which is more based on being optimistic but realistic at the same time. This podcast is brought to you by Bulletproof Coffee and supplements. Bulletproof is for anyone that wants to perform better, and features supplements and products based on 20 years of mind and body performance research. I use Bulletproof - all the time - and I've sorted a 10% discount for Zestology listeners. Simply use the code ZESTOLOGY at checkout.

Honestly Healthy's Natasha Corrett on tasty food and an exciting life #82

Natasha Corrett is one of the UK's best known chefs and healthy eaters. She's got a ridic amount of followers on Insta/Facebook/Twitter etc, but despite all the press she's done and her huge profile, when she met me, it was the first podcast interview she's ever done. And it was a good one too - very revealing. I came with at least two things that I'm changing straightaway. One of them, randomly, doesn't involve cooking but high-tech fire alarms. Nice one Natasha and thank you. When you listen to the podcast, you'll also hear Natasha and I talking about her, Jamie Oliver, and a very large mushroom. Click here to see the outrageous shroom pic.

Triumph over (extreme) adversity with actress Gemma Oaten #81

Coming up: one of the most emotional stories I've had on Zestology. Gemma Oaten is a well-known actress here in the UK, rising to fame on Emmerdale. (Try explaining the appeal of Emmerdale to an American!) Behind her rise though was an almost unbelievable tale of triumph over adversity. She has had it rough. Gemma was only 10 when she first became ill after negative comments at school affected her self esteem. And from there it was a downhill spiral into an eating disorder. Today on Zestology, Gemma's story of how she nearly lost it all and before getting back to full health and fulfilling her dreams.

Sleep

The Sleep Doctor - with Dr. Michael Breus #80 How do you sleep? I thought I knew most of the important stuff about sleep, morning routines, and caffeine, but I just interviewed Dr. Oz's sleep doctor specialist, Dr Michael Breus, and he told me some stuff that blew my mind. I'm actually writing this with a cup of coffee by my side, and I've changed my morning routine (and coffee routine) because of the information I learnt from Dr. Breus. He's seriously well qualified. In addition to his private practice where he treats athletes, celebrities, and the like, he also "trains other sleep doctors and consults with major airlines, hotel chains, and retailers to provide the optimum sleep experience for their customers." So if you're interested in improving your sleep, and therefore performance and energy levels - listen to today's Zestology.
