S1 Ep 53Josh J Holland: The Health Benefits of Self-Awareness, Daily Movement, and Conscious Feedback
Welcome to another episode of the Biohacking Beauty podcast brought to you by Young Goose Skincare! In this episode, host Amitay Eshel, the CEO of Young Goose, is joined by Josh J Holland.Joshua J Holland is a wealth of experiential knowledge and wisdom. As a dedicated biohacker, state-of-the-art fitness trainer, holistic health coach, and sports professional, he champions the philosophy of “awareness through experience,” and has subsequently spent years consulting with elite professionals to build a vast well from which to draw when evoking alignment of body, mind, and spirit for his clients.Key Takeaways:The ultimate foundation of health is self-awareness. It is through inquiring within that the initial awareness shift happens which allows us to take control of our health. We do a lot of things in our daily lives incorrectly unconsciously, until we become conscious of it. The good news is we’re not stuck in our old habits and ways forever - once we become conscious of them, this newly found awareness provides us with the ability to consciously optimize our efforts. This applies to physical movements such as squats as much as it does to skincare. For example, you may not realize that you are unconsciously tugging at your delicate under-eye skin area too roughly when applying your eye cream, but once you do become conscious of it, you can turn that around.Incorporating exercise into your health optimization protocol should be approached from a movement or play perspective rather than from an exercise perspective. Plus, moving when you feel like it rather than exercising when you think you should allows you to stay consistent. Blood circulation is something that is vital to the health of your skin and which is stimulated through exercise. Blood delivers the necessary nutrients to our skin to defend itself and fight the signs of premature aging. Poor circulation usually entails a decrease in reparative qualities as the waste removal system and healing process will also be weakened. This increases the risk of inflammation within the skin, which may cause breakouts or eczema. If there is a barrier deficiency or even a wound, the lack of proper nutrient delivery to the skin may also result in an inability to repair itself. Thus, the importance of getting movement in daily. What we discuss:06:40: About Josh09:55: How did Josh evolve into who he is today?23:06: What is the awareness shift?31:52: How does Josh link his system to the psyche?38:06: What to do once you remove your shoes?47:07: What is the foundation of movement in Josh’s protocol?50:45: Are joint rolls something you should be doing daily?58:30: Where to get more from Josh?1:02:00: How does increased blood circulation impact skin health?1:02:51: How does movement impact the lymphatic system?1:03:57: How does movement impact sweating?1:04:33: What skincare routine is ideal for working out?To learn more about Josh:Book: The Awareness ShiftWebsite: https://www.joshuajholland.com/ Podcast: Simply Walk The Talk Instagram: @joshuajhollandTo learn more about Young Goose:Website: https://www.younggoose.com/Instagram: @young_goose_skincareGet 20% off your first purchase by using code PODCAST20 at www.younggoose.com

S1 Ep 52Dr. Molly Maloof: Biohacking for Women, Metabolic Flexibility, and Selecting Appropriate Biomarkers
Welcome to another episode of the Biohacking Beauty podcast brought to you by Young Goose Skincare! In this episode, host Amitay Eshel, the CEO of Young Goose, is joined by Dr. Molly Maloof.Dr. Maloof is the founder and CEO of Adamo Bioscience, a company pioneering the science of love. She provides personalized medicine to world-class entrepreneurs, investors, and technology executives in Silicon Valley. Since 2012, she has worked as an advisor or consultant to over 50 companies in the digital health, consumer health, and biotechnology industries. She teaches a course on healthspan at the Medical School at Stanford University.Key Takeaways:Women have different biological processes in their bodies from men, such as the production of estrogen and other types of hormones as well as a menstrual cycle that is likely to impact their body’s ability to reap the benefits of certain biohacking protocols. They must consider this and adapt accordingly.Women go through four different stages in their menstrual cycle where their bodies simply can’t handle the same consistent amount of stress, whether it is physical or emotional, at every stage of their cycle. As result, women may not be performing at their absolute best nor reaping the most benefits from their efforts to be in good health if they disregard their menstrual cycle. This is the complete opposite of men, who can take on stressors at any time and be able to push through. Skin autofluorescence is a non-invasive biomarker often used in the medical field as a diagnostic tool for different health concerns, such as diabetes, heart disease, and cognitive impairment among other things. But what most people don’t know is that when your overall health is in top shape, skin autofluorescence is responsible for that glowing skin you have! Glowing of any kind whether it be your skin or your hair being glossy is an important biomarker for good health. What we discuss:04:30: About Dr. Maloof’s book05:50: What themes does Dr. Maloof cover in her new book?12:15: How should biohacking be approached by women?19:25: The skew about women's representation in medical research21:02: Which biomarkers should women track?25:22: How can you improve gut health?28:52: What is metabolic flexibility?34:00: Do women have a different relationship with stress than men?37:59: How do you recover from stress?40:38: What are the latest emerging biohacking strategies?42:36: What does Dr. Maloof think of Methylene Blue?45:12: What other supplements does Dr. Maloof take?49:50: What does Dr. Maloof do to improve brain function?51:55: What is Dr. Maloof’s experience with psychedelics?58:02: Are we working hard enough for dopamine and serotonin?1:00:43: Is sugar a drug?1:06:22: What is the next thing Dr. Maloof plans to work on?01:09:55: More about Dr. MaloofTo learn more about Dr. Maloof:Book: The Spark Factor: The Secret to Supercharging Energy, Becoming Resilient, and Feeling Better Than EverWebsite: https://drmolly.co/ Instagram: @drmolly.coTo learn more about Young Goose:Website: https://www.younggoose.com/Instagram: @young_goose_skincareGet 20% off your first purchase by using code PODCAST20 at www.younggoose.com

S1 Ep 51Dr. Keira Barr: Integrative Dermatology, Managing Stress Levels, and Mindfulness Practices
Welcome to another episode of the Biohacking Beauty podcast brought to you by Young Goose Skincare! In this episode, host Amitay Eshel, the CEO of Young Goose, is joined by Dr. Keira Barr Azadi.Dr. Keira Barr is a dual board-certified dermatologist and menopause specialist who knows all too well what it feels like to feel uncomfortable in her skin. Her approach combines science with soul, beginning with bioidentical hormones, cutting out what doesn’t belong in your life, and making room for what sets your soul on fire. Key Takeaways:Most of us think it is our brains that absorb most of the physical impact of stress. While that is true, there is a second area that is highly responsive to stress: your skin. As your body produces high levels of cortisol your skin develops different inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and more. Hence the importance of learning how to manage stress levels to effectively control these inflammatory skin conditions.Women who are under a lot of stress tend to experience premature aging of the skin. This happens because cortisol breaks down the collagen and elastin in your skin, which are both essential to keeping a youthful skin appearance. Thus, getting your stress levels in control to lower your cortisol production will benefit you not only from an overall health perspective as you balance out your hormones, but will also allow you to prevent premature aging of the skin.Skincare is not just a beauty product category; it’s a lifestyle and a way to care for your skin. Taking care of your skin means investing your energy into ensuring all of the health pillars are taken care of. Whether it is your sleep quality, what you eat, how you manage your stress levels, the intentions you set for yourself daily, or how you physically touch your skin during your skincare routine, they all come together to make up skin care. What we discuss:00:33: About Dr. Keira Barr02:47: How can stress manifest itself in your skin and overall health?9:02: What was Dr. Barr’s journey like?16:05: What is the relationship between stress, cortisol levels, and aging?18:44: How do we stop the stress cycle?23:20: How do you keep stress low as a high-performer?33:42: What are Dr. Keira Barr’s non-negotiables for stress management?46:04: Learn more about Dr. Keira BarrTo learn more about Young Goose:Website: https://www.younggoose.com/Instagram: @young_goose_skincareGet 20% off your first purchase by using code PODCAST20 at www.younggoose.comFind more from Dr. Keira Barr:Website: https://drkeirabarr.com/about/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drkeirabarr/

Ben is the author of four best-selling books, Keto Flex, The Perfect Health Booklet, The Intermittent Fasting Cheat Sheet, and The Power of Sleep. Ben has been the go-to source for intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet. He is known as ‘The Health Detective’ because he investigates dysfunction, and he educates, not medicates, to bring the body back to normal function. Ben is the founder of Keto Kamp; a global brand bringing awareness to ancient healing strategies such as the keto diet and fasting. Ben is the host of a top 15 podcast, The Keto Kamp Podcast which won Keto Podcast of The Year (2022) by The Metabolic Health Summit. Ben has the fast growing Keto Kamp YouTube channel with over 150,000 subscribers, and TikTok channel with over 285,000 subscribers and over 46 million video downloads.Key Takeaways:Contrary to popular belief, you need to expose your body to stressors regularly if you want to optimize your health. This is because by exposing your body to stress, it adapts itself to it in a way where it becomes stronger and more resilient over time. When it comes to achieving optimal health and longevity, the foundations are important because you need to have that strong foundation to build a strong house. What you think is what you attract — and the RAS is responsible for it.The reticular activating system (RAS) is a network of neurons located in the brain stem that project anteriorly to the hypothalamus to mediate behavior, as well as both posteriorly to the thalamus and directly to the cortex for activation of awake, desynchronized cortical EEG patterns.Because you could be purchasing the best supplements in the world and following the best exercise routines, but if your foundations are weak, that house of yours will fall apart. While it’s difficult to restrict your calories by eating less - and dangerous for your health if incorrectly done - there are some different techniques you can tap into to mimic those survival mechanisms that take place during caloric restriction. According to Ben, intermittent fasting is the best way as it has similar benefits without the drawbacks if you do it right.Fine more from Ben:Website: https://www.benazadi.com/Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-keto-kamp-podcast-with-ben-azadi/id1470779784Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebenazadi/Find more from Young Goose:Website: https://www.younggoose.com/Instagram: @young_goose_skincareGet 20% off your first purchase by using code PODCAST20 at www.younggoose.com

S1 Ep 49Christian Drapeau: The Link Between Stem Cells and Aging
Stem cells are at the center of cellular repair. When the natural production of such stem cells slows down at some point in our 30s, it’s only normal that we don’t feel as “young” as we used to. This is because our tissues are slowly losing their turnover abilities. After all, we have fewer stem cells being produced. The good news is that while the production of stem cells is a biological process, there are some protocols you may follow to maximize the production of stem cells.Tune into this episode of the Biohacking Beauty podcast with guest Cristian Drapeau to learn more about these stem cell protocols. Over the past fifteen years, Christian Drapeau has developed several globally recognized nutraceutical stem cell and wellness products and is continuing his botanical research and development effort on supporting the various aspects of the body’s regenerative process. Currently, Christian is working on a second book describing the link between the number of circulating stem cells and disease formation, namely that people with fewer stem cells are at greater risk for developing age-related degenerative diseases, and that a deficiency in stem cell-based day-to-day endogenous repair is the main underlying cause of disease formation. This work puts stem cells at the core of antiaging medicine, explaining how a daily increase in the number of circulating stem cells can be one of the best antiaging strategies in order to maintain vibrant health, as we age. Christian is a frequent speaker at Stem Cell Conferences as well as business events worldwide, and has lectured on the physiology of stem cells at various reputable hospitals and universities. He has also been a featured Mensa national event speaker.Find more from Christian:Website: https://christiandrapeau.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stemcellchristian/Find more from Young Goose:Website: https://www.younggoose.com/Instagram: @young_goose_skincareGet 20% off your first purchase by using code PODCAST20 at www.younggoose.com
