403 episodes — Page 6 of 9

Ep 141Big Shot Bob – Ep 141 – Robert Horry Night in Phoenix

We kick off this week’s show joking about Ludacris descending out of the rafters here in Atlanta, and recapping everyone’s Thanksgiving break. Plus the Lakers get blown out by the Sixers and Rob feels like everyone always finds their best games against LA, and the Bucks huge comeback against the Blazers has Rob thinking back on the biggest comeback wins he was a part of in his career. And the debate fires up over Anthony Davis being accused of flopping, as its something we’ve never heard about AD, but we have heard about Bills QB Josh Allen. We also try to figure out Pop’s motivation when he grabbed the PA mic and told the Spurs fans to stop booing Kawhi Leonard. We also get into a huge debate about the College Football Playoff and the madness that’s coming this weekend, who gets in and who’s left out, the insane ending of the Alabama-Auburn game, and the dying hype on Deion Sanders at Colorado. We also toss a Big Shot of the Week to Kyle Kuzma, and play a classic round of Shootout!

Ep 140Big Shot Bob – Ep 140 – An Only Robs Thanksgiving

It’s just the Robs this week as B-Dog travels for Thanksgiving, so we start off with what Rob thought about the ending of World’s Toughest Test. We also get Rob’s take on the Draymond suspension, as he feels like this was more a ‘lifetime achievement award’ instead of a response to the incident from last week. That spins us off into a conversation about Rob’s fights and suspensions, and how his coaches used to handle those situations. Plus Rob doesn’t think it’s fair for Jeanie Buss to get dragged on social media for saying “Lakers fans don’t know how to be patient” because LA has built a franchise around winning titles over the last 40 years. Rob also tries to figure out why Zach LaVine is so unhappy in Chicago and what it would take for him to land with the Lakers. Rob also praises Russell Westbrook for wanting to come off the bench to try and help the Clippers win games, we lament the Jordan Travis injury as FSU tries to hold on to a Playoff spot, and Rob and Rob disagree about the winner of the coming Michigan-Ohio State game. A Big Shot of the Week goes to Snoop Dogg for his viral marketing stunt, somehow we got media coverage on Rob’s wife and her non-existent OnlyFans account, and a hilarious Thanksgiving-themed round of Black Crime or White Crime!!

Ep 25Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 25 – Slapped in the Face
bonus
A conversation about Joe Smith and his wife’s private OnlyFans launches us into a hilarious conversation about what would happen if we found out our wives had secret OnlyFans accounts. And Rob takes the entire thing off the rails as we dive into the depths of strange things we see on the web. We also discuss Mike Malone’s extension in Denver and what makes for a good coach when you have supreme talent. And Rob and B-Dog try to guess the top 10 highest graded players in the league so far this season. Plus sports media personalities that we love to hate, and Rob reacts to Lou Williams saying the Clippers took their foot off the gas in the bubble because they heard rumblings that no one would respect that title.

Ep 139Big Shot Bob – Ep 139 – OnlyFans and Spelling Kwanzaa

Rob’s fantasy football team is dying at the hands of the Buffalo Bills as we open this week’s show. Plus we play the full James Harden rant from Brian Demaris on the Mavericks broadcast, and Rob thinks the roster that looks good on paper might blow up in Ty Lue’s face. And we all seem to think that Steve Ballmer is trying to sell tickets to the new arena instead of worrying about putting a winning roster together. We also dive into the wild Kelly Oubre hit-and-run story, and Rob has big love for Tyrese Maxey and the play of Tobias Harris. The Hawks OnlyFans promo caught Rob’s eye, and the eye of their star players, but all for good fun on social media… and after hearing what people are making on the site, Rob wants to know what it takes to open his own account. And Rob’s phone continues to blow up as the Rockets are playing well, after he said they wouldn’t win 30 games this season. Plus advice to Aaron Rodgers to NOT come back and play this season, Rob dances on the grave of Jimbo Fisher after his firing from Texas A&M, and we break down the Jim Harbough suspension and potential College Football Playoff. A really inspiring Big Shot of the Week to an Army veteran, and another hilarious round of Rapid Fire.

Ep 24Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 24 – Put Him in the Exit Row
bonus
We start Shoot Around this week with a quote from Draymond Green saying that the chemistry on the Warriors this year is WAY better than last year, which to us feels like yet another shot at Jordan Poole – and Rob shares stories about playing on teams with bad chemistry. Plus James Harden’s comments about being on a leash in Philly get Rob on a stand about being a system guy and not trying to continue to BE the system. Rob weighs in on the top-ranked “two way” guys in the league today and talks about the best guys he won championships with. And everyone drops in on the internet-wide debate about the woman who argued that she was allowed to recline her seat regardless of how the woman behind her felt. Plus a cop calls sports radio in the middle of pulling someone over to crap on the Cowboys brings up a discussion about what teams we hate the most. And we close out the show by talking about the legacy of Bobby Knight, and the meanest coaches that Rob ever had.

Ep 138Big Shot Bob – Episode 138 – I’m an In-Season Tournament Champion

Rob opens the show with a story about how he went to the Travis Scott show, and was pissed that Travis didn’t perform “Antidote” because he wanted to hear is his name mentioned in the song! Also Jenners is extremely confused about the function and format of the in-season tournament, Rob thinks the floors are a little too much for some teams, and Harper wonders if players will hang their hat on being an “in season tournament champion”. We also dive in on the Lakers, who have been playing about .500 basketball so far this season, and Rob feels like they should have a better record than they do, especially with Anthony Davis playing up to the odds that he might win Defensive Player of the Year. Of course we have to follow the media hype and talk about Wemby’s performance so far this season, and how maybe the narrative around him has grown too much as MJ and LeBron are brought into the conversation. We also dish out a fun Big Shot of the Week to the deputy that responded to a 911 call because a young child wanted a hug, and round out the show with another hilarious round of Black Crime or White Crime!

Ep 23Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 23 – Betting on Longevity
bonus
The College Football penalty of the week opens the show, as Colorado State got a 15-yard penalty for throwing snowballs at Air Force. Rob jokes that it hasn’t been Colorado’s week, as the Buffalos shared online that they got robbed at the UCLA game, and Rob shares stories about getting robbed over the years. Plus the Kelly Stafford versus Blueface feud launches a conversation about how fans can and should behave at pro sporting events, we discuss the very public slow death of boxing, and what sport’s championship is the most fun to watch even when you don’t have a rooting interest. Plus with Magic Johnson officially crossing into “billionaire” status we all joke about what we’d do if we had a billion dollars, and a moral question about winning a lot of money closes out the show with some big laughs.

Ep 137Big Shot Bob – Ep 137 – Ciara’s Waffle House

It’s Halloween and Rob comes to the show with a really cool LED mask, and we open the show with Flavor Flav’s rendition of the National Anthem from this week’s Bucks-Hawks game. Plus Rob gives us a full breakdown of the Harden move to the Clippers, and while he loves all the guys on the floor he’s unsure about how they will be able to share that basketball. We also all feel like the Sixers got the better end of this deal and got a lot better. Rob also sounds off on LeBron defending Anthony Davis, saying he needs AD to play better and more consistently so LeBron doesn’t have to defend him after games. Jim Harbough also gets the business from Rob and the crew over the sign stealing controversy, Rob spirals into an SEC debate, and Rob’s friend Dabo Swinney goes OFF on a Clemson caller and sets off an argument about how coaches should respond to fans. We also hand out a really dope Big Shot of the Week, and in honor of Russell Wilson renting out a Waffle House for Ciara’s birthday, we play a Halloween edition of Walmart or Waffle House.

Ep 22Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 22 – What in the Chris Brown is This?
bonus
When you have the opportunity to play with not one, but TWO of your sons in the NBA… can LeBron hang on long enough to make that a reality? Rob would love to see it but thinks he just plays too hard to go that long. Plus with the Taylor Swift and Brittney Mahomes handshake went viral, we want to know if Rob ever had a handshake with other NBA players. And the funniest story of the week was the Rock’s wax figure that looked nothing like the Rock – which prompts Rob to break out the bobbleheads he has that look nothing like him either, including one that looks more like Chris Brown than Robert Horry. We also joke about Marc Davis’s terrible dancing after the Las Vegas Aces won their second WNBA title, how we would survive World War 3 if the world collapsed, and a hilarious kids book written by Big Shot listeners about lessons we’ve learned from NBA players!

Ep 136Big Shot Bob – Ep 136 – Eating Dinner on the Sideline

It’s OPENING NIGHT for the NBA!! And Rob is not working, so he gets to hang back and watch the Lakers attempt to stop the Nuggets on ring night, and how Golden State (especially Klay) come out and play against the new-look Phoenix Suns. And there will be nothing better than James Harden skipping Sixers practice all week, not showing up for preseason, then rolling in to Opening Night on Thursday in Milwaukee and dropping 40… which we all think could happen! Plus as the season tips off we really take a look at Wemby’s game and how we are all now starting to buy the hype and understanding the buzz around him going into the Draft. Rob also weighs in on what he expects from Russell Westbrook this season after setting a high bar for himself, and what will it take for the Clippers to build a fan base that can carry them through not just this season but into a new arena. And we take a look at the extension that Giannis just signed, what it means for his future in Milwaukee and the kind of deal he might be waiting for. We also debate whether the Patriots should fire the legend Bill Belichick after a very rough start to their season, an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and a fun round of Halloween shenanigans called “You Scared Bro?”

Ep 21Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 21 – Torn Eyelids and Shaved Groins
bonus
Our second show of the week opens with gamer talk, what Rob is playing at the moment and how hard it has become to carve out gaming time as we get older. We also dive into Aaron Rodgers making a return to Jets camp and walking around without crutches only FIVE weeks after he tore his Achilles. It leads us into a wild conversation about injuries Rob suffered, and shared a story about how someone tore his EYELID during a basketball game?! We also get into some heart talk, send some love to Shaq and AI for their new deals at Reebok, and pictures that we’ll always cherish and never forget. Everyone gives their picks for Most Improved Player of the coming season, as the odds have hit for that, and we close it out with college football and an assessment of the Deion Sanders hype now that Colorado is losing.

Ep 135Big Shot Bob – Ep 135 – Shadow Banned

We open show 135 with Rob continuing to deny that his nudge got Dez Bryant kicked off of World’s Toughest Test. We’ll never let him live it down. And while we aren’t thrilled about starting the show with Dillon Brooks, it’s clear to everyone that he’s trying way too hard to make a name for himself, even though Rob says he didn’t think that shot to the groin was intentional. We also get some early impressions of Dame and Giannis on the floor together, as Rob is anxious to see how it comes together in a full game, because every marriage is good for the first five or six months. Jason Tatum’s top five scorers comes up for debate amongst the show – he listed KD, Booker, Kyrie and Paul George as his Top 5 – and of course everyone wants to weigh in with players that he missed. We also break down the top players by position, debate whether Tim Duncan is a 4 or a 5, and try to figure out what centers are left in the NBA today. And will Klay Thompson head to free agency? The Big Shot of the Week goes to Floyd “Money” Mayweather for helping Israeli citizens in the middle of a terrible war. And we close out the show with a round of Shot Clock, and replay last week’s NBA Emoji Game since last week’s show was somehow eaten by the internet.

Ep 20Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 20 – Everyone Needs a Diaper Change
bonus
We’re back for the Friday bonus show! And as the season closes in, we open with Rob and B-Dog trying to guess the most expensive NBA payrolls going into the year. And there are some surprises in the Top 10! Listeners want to know from Rob what it’s like getting a season started, and Rob talks about going into camp for the Rockets, the Lakers and the Spurs and how the experiences were all so different. Plus after Will Ferrell DJ’d a frat party before USC and Arizona last weekend, we talk about what celebrities we’d love to hang out with. One question that raises good debate was sent in from Twitter – who would you rather start a team and build around, Jokic or Giannis? And with a new Exorcist movie in theaters, and Halloween in full swing, we ask Rob about his favorite scary movies.

Ep 134Big Shot Bob – Ep 134 – Late and Lost

We open the show by talking about Rob bowing out on World’s Toughest Test, why it happened, and what kind of prep goes into doing a physical show like that. Plus Rob jokes about reality shows that we WOULD do, and Jenners could not do shows like Amazing Race and Rob reveals that him and Rick Fox got an offer to compete on that show and couldn’t do it since Rick isn’t an American citizen. And we discuss how much stock Rob puts into the preseason and what he looks for from a squad that’s coming together. And it’s our full season preview as we discuss what we think will happen in the West, who wins the East, Rookie of the Year and who wins it all. Plus some unexpected Dwight Howard lobbying by both Rob and B-Dog, and Rob in convinced that AD could win MFP this season.

Ep 19Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 19 – Good To Be The King
bonus
Rob takes us behind the scenes of World’s Toughest Test and how it really goes down when the cameras are off, after he got Dez Bryant bounced from the show this past week. And with the passing of both Rob and Jenners fathers, we share some of our favorite family drama stories. Plus after Draymond Green got called an “expensive backpack” by Jordan Poole we joke about the worst insults we’ve ever received, and a listener question wants Rob’s take on the new Star Wars shows. We also talk about the top rated NBA duos as voted by fans and debate whether James Harden even plays a single game for the 76ers this season. And finally did we sell out too fast on Tua in Miami? And who is Rob rooting for in the MLB playoffs?

Ep 133Big Shot Bob – Ep 133 – Nudging Dez Bryant

We are back from a short break, after Rob got caught up doing media for World’s Toughest Test and Jenners lost his dad… and we immediately get onto Rob about nudging Dez Bryant into the challenge that got him kicked off the show. Plus Rob takes us behind the scenes of the show and how some of those impossible challenges really came into play. Rob also thinks that Dame to the Bucks could become scary for the East if he can play off the ball a bit more, and he also believes that the new “Big 3” in Boston can work really well for Boston. Plus “Emo” Jimmy Butler gets some laughs during NBA Media Days, and Rob has praise for Anthony Davis after stating he wants to play in all 82 games. We also touch on some of the college football madness from the last week, offer up a special Big Shot of the Week, and play another classic round of Rapid Fire.

Ep 131Big Shot Bob – Ep 131 – This Better Be a White Man

We are a little late this week because Rob has been out doing press for “World’s Toughest Test” which debuts Monday night on Fox! Rob gives us a preview of what to expect and talks about just how brutal the conditions were. Plus we try to figure out what happens with both James Harden and Dame Lillard, since both seem to be stuck in a trade standstill with their respective teams. Rob also says that the Bucks DO indeed need to sign Jrue Holiday to keep Giannis because they won’t be able to afford a rebuild. And of course the definition of a “star” comes into debate, and how many “superstars” are really in the league. The curse of Big Shot Bob plagues Alabama as they slip to 13 and we wonder what is happening with NicK Saban’s quarterback acumen. We close out with some AMAZING audio of the week from a witness that saw the vanished F-35 zip by, give out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a couple of firefighters, and another great round of Black Crime or White Crime.

Ep 18Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 18 – Go Home Buddy
bonus
After the wild fallout from Noah Lyles “World Champs” comments, we hear how it felt to him to have the entire NBA come for him, including Drake who he tells to go home! NBA 2K24 gets our tin foil hats on as they have commentary from the game with Dame Lillard already in Miami, we find out Rob only plays as HIMSELF in 2K, and Rob and B-Dog see if they can guess the top-rated 2K24 players by their game ranking. We also recall our biggest brain farts after the Marlins ball boy picked up a Freddie Freeman double and threw it into the stands. We also close out with some listener questions about sacrifices, the upcoming Olympic team and a weird debate about what pop culture character we would choose to protect us. Get into the mix on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and more @bigshotbobpod!

Ep 130Big Shot Bob – Ep 130 – Great at Ruining Relationships

We briefly open the show by recapping this week’s feud with Gilbert Arenas, who we collectively have nothing but love for, so Rob apologizes if his “idiot” comment upset him. Plus Rob and B-Dog are frustrated that Team USA didn’t even medal at the FIBA World Cup and how immediately after we had LeBron, KD, Steph and a bunch of other guys step up to lead the Olympic team. And no matter how well Dillon Brooks played on the international stage he still can’t dodge the jokes about being a villain. We also get Rob’s take on the NBA’s load management plan for the coming season, and we take bets on what teams will get fined first for resting players in national games. And with the news that Chris Paul might be starting in Golden State, and Anthony Davis wanting to play more power forward, reinforces Rob’s idea that the NBA is becoming position-less basketball. Rob also denounces his allegiance to the University of Alabama because the University has not recruited his son Christian and he feels he deserves it as a legacy. We also try to digest the Aaron Rodgers injury four snaps into the season, which is heartbreaking, and we swing it back with an inspiring Big Shot of the Week. And in honor of Jenners getting cooked by Gilbert Arenas this week, our game is called “Starter Pack”.

Ep 17Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 17 – Bark Like A Dog
bonus
Rob opens the Shoot Around this week talking about the Atlanta Braves, as he did not realize until just recently how good that team really is. We also ask Rob who his favorite player was when he was growing up, and he says Magic Johnson, and recalls getting the opportunity to play against him. We also put on our tin foil hats for the LeBron in Saudi Arabia, but Rob just thinks he’s catching a bag by helping with that camp, not entertaining offers for a rival NBA. Shedeur Sanders is ready to break the bank with NIL money which fires us into a huge discussion about conference realignment in college football. Plus Rob weighs in on the Dillon Brooks ejection, Kanye West getting banned in Venice for getting dirty on a tour boat, the insane diarrhea incident aboard an Atlanta flight this week, and hilarious audio of Washington deputies barking like dogs to try and get some car theft suspects to surrender.

Ep 129Big Shot Bob – Ep 129 – Hug Your College Football Coach

We open the show this week with a recap of the WILD College Football weekend – especially after Rob’s good friend Dabo Swinney lost big to Duke! Plus Deion Sanders took 1-11 Buffalo on the road to knock off TCU, and we all want to see if we can do that again against another team. Rob also weighs in on Team USA’s loss to Lithuania and how he doesn’t think it will really affect them down the line, and how most of these guys likely won’t see the Olympic team next summer. Rob spent a week in China for the NBA and talks about some of the outreach he gets to do on the league’s behalf, even though he doesn’t do much in the way of sightseeing anymore. We also dive in on the Eric Lewis “retirement” announcement this week after the big burner phone investigation, and Rob doesn’t understand why these NBA refs don’t have thicker skin. Congrats go out to Jeanie Buss after she married Jay Mohr over the weekend, which leads Rob to take a probe into B-Dog’s dating life. Plus a shoutout to the Nebraska women’s volleyball team, a dope Big Shot of the Week – and we close the show with a round of Buy or Sell – as we all buy or sell things like Aaron Rodgers on the NY Jets, Lionel Messi, Jake Paul’s shot at a heavyweight title, FSU in the College Football playoff, Shaq the rapper and much more!

Ep 16Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 16 – That’s Our Electric Slide
bonus
We open our bonus show this week by talking about Nikola Jokic dancing at Serbian night club and whether or not we like to dance at a club – erupting a HUGE debate about the Electric Slide! Plus Gorilla Nems wrote some music for the New York Knicks, as the team has used “Bing Bong” all season long after hitting threes, and he is NOT happy with the Knicks for hooking him up with decent seats for the games. And does the USC fan who bought tickets behind the new press box with only 2% field view have the worst seats ever in college football? We all discuss the worst seats we’ve ever had, and a huge debate about who’s the better scorer, Kevin Durant or Carmello Anthony. Aliens in Peru also fire up a conversation about what athletes are so good we believe they’re aliens, and our favorite seasonal fast food items!

Ep 128Big Shot Bob - Ep 128 - 30-Shot Bob

As we kick off Labor Day Weekend, we get a full recap of Rob’s Birthday party – where he claims he did about 30 shots and no one believes him! Rob also talks about Brandon Ingram’s frustration with Team USA and sparks a great conversation about how stars handle not getting minutes or finding a groove. Plus Noah Lyles brought down the fury of the sports world with his take about “World Champions” in the NBA, and the debate rages on this show much like it has on other shows. We give an early Big Shot of the Week to the young man who hit the walk off HR at the Little League World Series – and everyone hopes he goes on to outshine that one huge moment. And we try to find the motive behind Giannis saying he might not sign in Milwaukee, and take a look at Kobe statue night in LA, which will be the most expensive ticket of the season… and who still deserves a statue outside of Crypto? And with College Football kicking off we put Rob and B-Dog to the test on obscure college mascots!

Ep 15Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 15 – Magic City Hall of Fame
bonus
Steph Curry said he was the best point guard ever this week, so we open the show with Rob’s opinion that he is NOT because Isiah Thomas has to be in that conversation simply from a defensive perspective. We also put on our tin foil hats for the Heat-Blazers match-up that the NBA scheduled for two days after the trade deadline, which we all agree is just a very smart marketing move. Stan Van Gundy also brings a great debate to the show by saying he’s rather have Dwight Howard’s career over that of Anthony Davis, and Rob and B-Dog both side with Stan in picking Dwight over AD. Plus people who can’t get cancelled, a look at the career of Lou Williams and whether the Sixth Man of the Year award should be named for him, and TV shows we love that people are missing out on.

S1 Ep 127Big Shot Bob – Ep 127 – Andy Bernstein and Missed Shots

We open this show with Rob in the thick of Tropical Storm Hillary and the earthquake that shook him from his birthday hangover. And while talking about parties, the rumors about Joel Embiid’s wedding guests heat up the conversation about his future in Philly – but Rob feels like he’s not going anywhere. We’re also joined by legendary NBA photographer Andy Bernstein, who has chronicled SO many of the league’s most iconic moments. Andy shares stories about how he got started in sports photography, being clobbered by Shaq during the Western Conference Finals, capturing that candid Jordan moment when he was crying over the Larry O’Brien trophy, and some of the best moments he has been able to capture in NBA history. Plus, after Giannis said he’d play for Saudi Arabia for the right amount of money, we wonder if they would even contemplate starting a rival NBA. And if Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen get married, Larsa would become Michael Jordan’s DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, which blows our minds when thinking about the family dynamic. Our Big Shot of the Week goes to the Florida lifeguards who formed a human chain to save a swimmer, and another hilarious round of Shot Clock!

Ep 13Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 14 - A Lakers Spy in San Antonio
bonus
We open the show this week by discussing Rob's relationship with Spurs fans - and Rob jokes that they saw him as a Laker spy and only celebrated him for that one big shot in the Finals. Rob doesn't really believe that Lonzo Ball's shoes were the root cause of his injury, but sometimes guys are just doomed with injuries that they can't overcome. He also jokes that in his day in the NBA, you NEVER wore another guy's shoes. We also discuss what moments in sports would have broken the Internet before social media was such a big thing - and moments that come up are Magic's announcement, Malice in the Palace, and Mike Tyson biting Evander's ear! Rob also recaps getting dragged to the Taylor Swift concert and not running into a single celebrity. And in light of the Wander Franco story, listeners want to know if Rob ever got in trouble for girls DMing him on social media. Plus with Peyton Manning teaching a class at Tennessee we discuss the classes we think we could teach and the ones we wish were taught during our school days.

Ep 126Big Shot Bob – Ep 126 – The James Harden Hostage Situation
We open this week’s show with James Harden in China, as he started a media war this week with Sixers President Daryl Morey. So how do the Sixers move forward with this situation? Rob says the easy answer is for the Sixers to fire Daryl Morey, but everyone feels that sets a dangerous precedent for players going forward. Rob is also in awe about how much star players change teams, and how some teams that think they have a legit shot at a title just run into the wrong team at the wrong time, then change teams to try again. And while looking back at the strife the Sixers, we wonder when Joel Embiid might come knocking and asking for a trade. We all love the Lakers-Nuggets rematch going down on opening night in Denver… on Ring Night for the Nuggets! Plus everyone has an opinion about Kevin Garnett saying Durant and LeBron need to learn to play off the ball more and spot up more. With Pau Gasol going into the Hall of Fame, we play some of his tribute to Kobe Bryant, including the story of how he was welcomed in after the Lakers trade, and ask Rob about how different his experiences were joining new teams. The Big Shot of the Week goes to Floyd Money Mayweather for everything he’s doing to help the people of Hawaii, and Rob and B-Dog face off in a hilarious round of Rapid Fire.

Ep 13Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 13 – Pop-a-Shot Ringer
bonusWe’re back for the second show of the week, and we’re both ready to lay our money on Mark Zuckerburg in the highly publicized fight against Elon Musk – but Rob thinks that Elon will continue to make excuses to get out of the fight. And the bigger loss of the week came from Drake, who bet $250K on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul, so we all discuss the biggest bets (for money or with friends) that we ever lost. Rudy Gobert said this week that after hitting his first three that he “feels like he lost his virginity”, which walks us into a conversation about our favorite first-time experiences. And everyone has jokes for the guy who went to the wrong Taylor Swift concert with his wife, largely because Rob’s wife is dragging him to Taylor Swift this week, and Rob shares a story about how he screwed up bad when he was younger trying to impress a woman. Plus listener questions want to know who our favorite fictional character crushes were, and Rob has to answer for being a pop-a-shot ringer!

Ep 125Big Shot Bob – Ep 125 – AD for MVP
We open a huge show this week with news of Anthony Davis signing his three-year extension with the Lakers – and while we all knew it was coming, Rob thinks he can contend for MVP this season if he stays healthy because he’s just as good a Jokic! And as Rob runs down all the reasons that he’s just as good – if not better – than all the big men across the NBA, we start taking bets on how many games Anthony Davis plays this season… and Rob contends that he was NOT in shape last season and if he comes in ready he can play 65-70 games. Plus if the Lakers target Christian Wood as recent rumors would suggest, Rob lays out what it would take for him to be successful on that Lakers roster. And can Gabe Vincent steal D’Angelo Russell’s starting job? Rob doesn’t see it happening for a number of reasons. On the heels of Scoot Henderson’s claim that he’ll be Rookie of the Year, Rob disagrees and says that Cam Whitmore will actually win it. And when Gilbert Arenas calls out Team USA, Rob finally addresses the things Gilbert said about his career. We all loved the old-school baseball fight between Tim Anderson and Jose Ramirez this week, with AMAZING audio from Guardians radio announcer Tom Hamilton. And with Kevin Brown’s suspension from the Orioles broadcast crew, has Rob ever been critical of the Lakers and got a call – and he did! Finally the Alabama ferry boat fight that has gone super viral leads us into a hilarious round of Black Crime or White Crime!!

Ep 12Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 12 – Overserved and Overrated
bonusThe Shoot Around kicks off this week with more Paul Pierce, as he is currently on the show “Stars on Mars” and recounted the Instagram live incident that cost him his job at ESPN. So the question was, did you ever have to babysit a drunk friend? Rob has stories. Dr. J’s Top 10 also comes up for debate, as he left Steph, LeBron and Kobe off his list for strange reasons. Plus Bleacher Report’s most overrated NBA players gets Rob HOT, as both DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard hit the list, and everyone agrees that Sabonis should not be in this conversation. Listener want to know, after the passing of Paul Reubens, what weird TV shows we loved as a kid, and how the WNBA can capture the magic of the Women’s World Cup.

Ep 124Big Shot Bob – Ep 124 – LeBron’s Statue in LA
Robert Horry is finally able to reveal his secret on-location recording, as he will premier on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” on Fox this September! Rob also shares that around the same time he was filming this show that his father passed away, and shares some memories and experiences he got to share with his dad over the years. We also discuss Jeanie Buss saying the Lakers will “definitely” retire LeBron’s number in LA, and whether or not he has earned enough Lakers-cred to warrant that honor. And if they retire his jersey, do they build him a statue?? Rob also discusses the Lakers weakest link and how Rui was NOT it, plus Dame’s warning from NBA is not a good sign for Dame landing in Miami. Plus no one on the show thinks Jimmy Butler can demand Jaylen Brown money, simply due to his age and the Heat’s financial situation. And on the heels of that we take a look ahead to the supermax deals coming due in the next two years, and who ends up being worth that paycheck. Rob and Kendrick Perkins both now share the honor of being ejected from an AAU basketball game, we send some well wishes to Bronny who is on the mend, hand out a really dope Big Shot of the Week, and tackle true news versus fake news in a round of Jump Ball.

Ep 11Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 11 – Puerto Rican Bird Poop
bonusWe are loaded up for the bonus show this week, with lots of leftover topics we didn’t get to on the Tuesday show. We start with Draymond talking about what led to the infamous punch of Jordan Poole, whose dad flips out on Twitter and says Draymond never apologized. Rob thinks Draymond was wrong regardless but doesn’t owe Jordan’s dad an apology. Austin Reeves has very high praise for Anthony Davis, but Rob is mad at Austin Reeves for bailing on him for this year’s Clayton Kershaw ping pong tournament! We also discuss the Hall of Fame 2023 class, and how James Harden missed Joel Embiid’s wedding… so would Rob be upset if he invited his teammates and someone didn’t show up? A bird pooped on Viktor Hovland during the British Open, which prompts Rob to tell a story about a time when a bird pooped on him during a basketball tournament in Puerto Rico. Plus the story about the woman who purchased The Game’s old storage unit, as we wonder what would we find in Rob’s old storage unit. Finally Richard Jefferson running up Channing Frye’s credit card on Draft night gets Rob into stories about being hazed as a rookie.

Ep 123Big Shot Bob – Ep 123 – Scoop Jackson and Half a Shaq
We open the show this week with disappointment, as Rob lost a Los Angeles area Emmy to the Dodgers, after being nominated for his work with the Lakers. We’re also joined by writer Scoop Jackson, who talks about coming up in the NBA about the same time as Robert Horry – as Scoop started writing for Slam right after Rob got his first title in Houston. We also joke about Scoop being a Knicks fan, as Scoop says they won’t win anything until James Dolan is gone. Since we’ve all had the experience of seeing sports from behind-the-scenes, we discuss the awe of professional athletes that turned us into sports fans as young kids. Scoop shares his experience about meeting Dr. J as a young reporter and how an autographed basketball had his friends swooning over him. Plus, Rob and Scoop both have a LOT to say about Paul Pierce’s declaration that he’s better than Dwyane Wade, with Scoop saying that Paul would have to win with half a Shaq to really match Wade. We also get an incredible story from Scoop about Dwyane Wade in the 2006 NBA Finals, where Wade was sick in Games 1 and 2 and never told anyone, but told Scoop he was going to take over in Game 3 – which he sure did. We also break down Jaylen Brown’s supermax extension, as Scoop says the Celtics need to win a title, and these huge contracts are like anchors on the back end of these huge deals. There’s also some talk on Bronny’s cardiac arrest, a Big Shot of the Week for an Indiana construction worker, and Scoop hangs out for a test of his southern knowledge in a round of Walmart or Waffle House.

Ep 10Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 10 – Chris Dudley His Ass
bonusWe open up the Shoot Around this week with the meme that has gone viral, of Robert Horry’s career earnings and seven rings, up against James Harden’s payday having won NO rings. Which career would you rather have, rings or huge paydays? We also answer listener questions about Phillip Rivers welcoming his 10th child, whether Doc Rivers deserves another coaching job in the NBA, and Steph Curry’s hole-in-one leads to a discussion about sports feats we’d love to accomplish in an ideal world. Plus a debate from a listener about all-you-can-eat buffets, the young Wimbledon winner leads us to our favorite underdog stories in sports, and with a possible Shohei Ohtani trade we discuss current players in sports that should NEVER be traded.

Ep 122Big Shot Bob – Ep 122 – Mark Medina and Horry County
NBA writer and reporter Mark Medina joins the show this week, and immediately out’s Rob for schooling young kids at pop-a-shot. Mark just spent a couple weeks in Vegas for NBA Summer League, and bring us a first-hand account of Victor Wembanyama’s game and how cool the Sphere is on the Vegas strip. We also try to figure out how much time LeBron actually has left in the league after announcing his return, and Mark says after years of covering the Lakers he has learned not to bet against LeBron. Plus Rob, Mark and B-Dog debate how the Lakers starting five will shake out with free agency changes they’ve made this summer, and how James Harden will react if he is not traded out of Philadelphia. There is also a large debate about Paul Pierce’s comments that the Miami Heat wouldn’t make it out of the first round if they traded for Damian Lillard. Plus a cool Big Shot of the Week, a discussion about Horry County South Carolina, and Mark Medina jumps in for a hilarious round of Playing the Percentages.

Ep 9Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 9 – Horry-O Cookies
bonusWe answer a lot of listener questions in this week’s Shoot Around – including things Rob would have loved to do in today’s NBA versus back in his day, paranormal experiences, and Rob’s travel recommendations for people going overseas. Also watching Elly de la Cruz steal home base last week prompts a fun conversation about the most electric players we’ve ever watched, and Rob brings up a lot of guys we never thought about. And we discuss LaMarcus Aldridge’s enormous new tattoo, plus Dennis Rodman’s huge face tattoo, and discuss who or what we would get tattooed on our body. Plus… is Scooby Doo actually a superhero? And if you had to rep a current NBA player and wear their jersey, who would you pick?

Ep 121Big Shot Bob – Ep 121 – Captain Street Clothes
Robert Horry made an appearance at NBA Con in Las Vegas this past weekend, and got to see first hand how big Summer League has gotten with the new sphere on the strip. Summer League has also brought #1 pick Victor Wembanyama into the spotlight as people blew his debut out of proportion, while Rob feels like all these guys deal with early NBA jitters. Wemby was also the center of an incident involving Britney Spears – who exercised poor fan etiquette – and Rob talks about how people should approach players or celebrities that they want to meet. Rob also talks about Pop’s extension in San Antonio, and jokes that he waited to see if they got Wemby before signing. We also discuss how the Grant Williams deal in Dallas is great for Grant and the Kyrie-Luka experiment, and when Ben Simmons gets a vote of confidence from Nets GM Sean Marks it leads to a debate about who is the “Street Clothes Captain”. Kiyan Anthony has some high praise for Paul George, and so does B-Dog, but Rob and Jenners don’t buy the hype. We also give out a Big Shot of the Week to a TikToker that turned a struggling author into a best seller, and we play an always highly-contested round of Shot Clock!

Ep 8Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 8 – Cancel Your OnlyFans
bonusLots of listener questions in this week’s Shoot Around… including one big one. Did Rob actually contribute to the NBA Championships that he won? Rob defends his performances in the NBA postseason by saying it’s not all about your stat line and says the people that don’t think he contributed likely never watched him play. After Gary Payton’s appearance on last week’s Shoot Around, we revisit whether Seattle should get an NBA team back since that talking point all but vanished in recent years. Plus in light of the Zuckerberg-Musk fight, we ask Rob what NBA players he would like to see fight, and Rob says he’d love to throw down with Danny Ainge. And after Domingo German’s perfect game we discuss some of the best single-player performances we’ve ever watched, and both Rob and Jenners have different nominations. We also joke about how Larsa Pippen’s OnlyFans account has suffered since she started dating Marcus Jordan, and what would it take for our wives to have to take down their OnlyFans accounts. Finally we close with two important questions… has Robert Horry ever been fired from a job? And between Steph, LeBron and KD, who would Rob start, bench and cut?

Ep 120Big Shot Bob – Ep 120 – Land of the Free Agency
Robert Horry is BACK and we are all spinning from the NBA free agency moves that have hit the last few days. We start with July 4th traditions, and how Rob used to celebrate in his playing days because this was one of the few holidays that players could relax and enjoy. And when it comes to Dame Lillard wanting a trade out of Portland, Rob feels like he may have succumb to peer pressure and feels he needs to restructure his contract in order to land with a contender. We also debate whether a player hurts his trade value by saying where he wants to go instead of just playing it quiet behind the scenes. Rob also says that the Lakers free agency moves felt like they replaced the pieces they already had with almost the same exact players and treated them like new additions. Plus Rob does not seem to mind the contract extension for Kyrie Irving in Dallas because he wants the Mavericks to run the Luka-Kyrie experiment back for at least a year before bailing on it. Fred VanVleet also gets a big payday in Houston that Rob doesn’t really understand, but we all agree that Minnesota extending Anthony Edwards is the right move for the Timberwolves. Add in some massive layoffs at ESPN, Draymond’s beer-chug failure on the golf course, no one knows where James Harden will go, and whether or not LeBron would bail to play with Bronny. A very cool Big Shot of the Week goes to White Castle, and we test Rob and B-Dog’s patriotism with a round of questions from the U.S. Citizenship Test!

Ep 7Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around with Gary Payton
bonusWe shoot around this week with NBA legend Gary Payton, as he and Rob cut it up about their rivalry from back in the Seattle and Houston days. Rob and Gary also both agree that guys today have grown too close with their AAU relationship, how Gary developed his affinity for trash talk, who gave him his nickname “The Glove”. Rob also admits that Gary had the coolest shoe ever designed and how guys around the league could NEVER wear another player’s shoes! A great reunion between two NBA legends.

Ep 119Big Shot Bob – Ep 119 – No Shot Bob
Robert Horry is disconnected from the world as he films a TV show on the other side of the world, so we bring in a couple of long time friends and listeners – Caleb Lamoreau and Jason Jenkins – to sit in with Jenners and B-Dog this week. We all sound off on our reactions to the Chris Paul trade to the Warriors, and whether he’ll be able to fit into the starting lineup or have to adjust to coming off the bench. Plus more conjecture about whether Draymond Green will end up in Portland or stay in Golden State, and what he have left to prove in the NBA at this point in his career. We also jump into our NBA Draft takeaways, and wonder if Wenby’s built for long-term health after going #1 to the Spurs. And of course some quick discussion of the bigger moves this week involving Marcus Smart going to Memphis, and John Collins finally getting moved from Atlanta. Everyone on the panel jumps in for some Quick Shots, including if we like Brittney Mahomes, Shark Attack victims the go fishing, whether or not we’re sick of Conor McGregor, and who will win the Mark Zuckerberg vs Elon Musk fight! Big Shot of the Week to a Las Vegas firefighter and all the guys compete to see what Robert Horry would rather do, from superhero powers to who he cuts between AD and LeBron.

Ep 6Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 6 - About to be Rich
bonusRob comes to us this week from across the world as he films a new secret project, and sure enough his luggage got lost somewhere in Australia. We also dive into questions from listeners, the first one asking Rob about Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter being left off the NBA’s Top 75 list and how much he respected their games when they played against each other. Plus Rob wonders if Dame will end up ring-chasing at the end of his career, the best advice Rob ever got from a coach, we got behind the scenes of Rob’s NBA Draft experience back in 1992, and what team Rob would want to own if he could buy a pro sports team.

Ep 118Big Shot Bob – Ep 118 – Put a Target on Your Back
Robert Horry comes to us live on location from a secret project he’s filming, but Rob thinks the Denver Nuggets are putting a HUGE target on their back by taunting the Lakers and other teams around the league. Rob is also not surprised that Jokic had fun at the parade, and says that getting a response out of LeBron will cause problems for Denver throughout the entire league. Ja Morant’s 25-game suspension comes up for debate, with everyone feeling like there are points to be made on both sides of the argument, but Rob feels like it will take four to five years for Ja Morant get himself back into the MVP conversation. And after the Bradley Beal move to Phoenix, Rob feels like it might not work because the Suns will have no money to acquire a bench to back up their stars. Plus we discuss the rumor of Jaylen Brown signing a super-max deal in Boston, Dame’s desire to stay in Portland, Draymond Green testing free agency, Zion moving on from New Orleans and a funny round of “Where in the World is Robert Horry?”

Ep 5Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 5 – Weeks of Drunken Stupor
bonusWe open the Shoot Around on the heels of Denver’s championship parade, and we talk to Robert Horry about what that week feels like as a player and what happens next as you start to look to next season. Jenners also brings a correction from last week’s show which launches into a conversation about great college players we left off our list. Plus we all offer the sports moment that leaves a bad feeling in the pit of our stomachs, whether or not James Harden moves on from Philly, some of our favorite old school anime cartoons, and awkward sexual references we have to address with our kids. Rob also talks about Conor McGregor knocking out the Miami Heat mascot during the Finals, and what pair we would take in the battle of Jordan-Hakeem against LeBron-Jokic.

Ep 117Big Shot Bob – Ep 117 – World Champs Want to Go Home
Robert Horry reacts to the Denver Nuggets winning the NBA Championship, and wants to know what KCP was thinking throwing the championship ball in the air after one of the biggest plays in the game. Jokic also showed a lot of class in this win, jokes that he was recruiting by shaking all the Miami players’ hands, and feels his pain about wanting to just “go home” after winning the title. We also take a look at what the Miami Heat will do this offseason after over-performing in this playoff run, as Rob thinks they need to get bigger, and whether or not they keep Tyler Herro since he’s due a big paycheck next season. Rob also believes that James Harden returning to Houston would NOT work, a debate about Westbrook’s status in the league at this point in his career, and whether or not bench players can brag on being NBA Champions if they didn’t get any minutes. Plus we touch on Dejounte Murray’s future in Atlanta, play some amazing audio of the week from Yankees broadcaster John Stirling, offer up an inspiring Big Shot of the Week… and cap it off with an EPIC game.

Ep 4Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 4 - Glizzy Kabobs
bonusWe open the Shoot Around this week with a listener question about who stands as the greatest college basketball player of all time, if you omit pro careers. Nominees include Laettner, Kareem, Webber, Bill Walton and a bunch of others. Rob also weighs in on NBA ref Eric Lewis getting suspended from officiating the Finals for having a burner Twitter account to defend himself and his colleagues online. Plus Jeff Van Gundy says halftime should be eliminated from the game and Rob destroys him for not understanding how important halftime is for players. We also joke about how miserable Terrell Davis looked while surrounded by Miami Heat fans during the finals, which prompts a conversation about the worst fans to be surrounded by at a game. Mike Breen also mentioned that he was able to save a Kobe jersey from his devastating house fire last year, and we wonder what we would save from our homes in the event of a fire. And we close with a discussion about Major League Eating and the foods we love to pig out on, and the best foods coming off the grill.

Ep 116Big Shot Bob – Ep 116 – Duck the Smoke
EFresh off Miami tying up the NBA Finals and stealing Game 2 on the road in Denver, Rob looks at the Miami zone defense and how that’s given Denver fits. Rob also lays out what Miami has to do to have a shot at the rest of this series against Denver, and how Jokic can score big points and teams can find a way to beat them when no one else scores. Rob is also jealous of Monty’s bag and takes a look at the young roster he will inherit in Detroit as he takes over the Pistons. Plus Rob lays out how Frank Vogel needs to move away from being a “nice guy” coach to have any real success in Phoenix. We also break down the insane situations that would have to unfold for LeBron James to move to Dallas like Kyrie wants, whether the Lakers will extend Anthony Davis this summer, and if the Boston Celtics will find a way to keep both Tatum and Brown or whether it’s more valuable to split them up. Rob has to defend his take on Shaq-vs-Hakeem during his appearance on “All The Smoke” this week, a very cool Big Shot of the Week to Rams DC Raheem Morris, and we play a round of Dynamic Duos.

Ep 3Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 3 – Bring Your Boys to Luthor
bonusEThis week’s Shoot Around tips off with some conversation about unconventional sports. Rob loves tennis but never played golf, B-Dog would be a pro bowler and Jenners has taken up Pickleball. We also answer a question about our favorite high school memories – Rob looks back at his first dunk in a game during his freshman year of high school. Plus with the Finals upon us, people want to know about Rob’s favorite memories of playing in the NBA Finals, and he says his 2005 Game 5 performance in San Antonio against Detroit was his best memory. The debate about Jewel’s National Anthem, and Aaron Rodger going to Taylor Swift in New York with a bunch of buddies prompts the question… what show would you go to with a group of friends? Rob wants to go to Public Enemy or get wild at a Two Live Crew show back in the day, and we all talk about the first live concerts we ever went to. What would you do on an airplane if a crazy passenger pulled the emergency door like in South Korea last week? And we close out with a battle of the primes – Prime Shaq or Prime Dream, and Prime Kobe or Prime LeBron.

Ep 115Big Shot Bob – Ep 115 – Home Court Disadvantage
We open this week’s show with a recap of the WILD end to the Eastern Conference Finals, and Rob admits he doesn’t feel bad for the Celtics because he’s a Jimmy Butler fan. And while the Internet debates if Eric Spoelstra would have lost his job if the Heat blew a 3-0 lead, Rob says no way because he’s too good of a coach. We also get breaking news during the show that Bob Myers steps down as the Warriors GM and we wonder if the new GM will be loyal to Klay and Draymond as contracts come due. And Rob asks if you’d rather be the Miami Heat, who are rolling off a big win – or the Denver Nuggets, who’ve been resting for a solid week? Rob says they lost to the Sixers in 2001 because they were resting too long. The 76ers hire former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, we have yet another Scottie Pippen intervention, and in the debate between a prime Nikola Jokic vs a prime Dwight Howard of course Dwight picks himself, but does he have a point? Plus the NFL’s new kickoff rule SUCKS, a Big Shot of the Week to Robert Horry’s momma, and another hilarious round of Walmart or Waffle House!

Ep 2Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 2 - Real Men Can't
bonusERob’s current unemployment prompts a quick discussion about NBA coaches being shown the door too early, and memes about KD and Ja Morant on the bench. And following the Prince Harry paparazzi drama in New York, we asked Rob if he ever had a run-in with them, or had a teammate that did. While Rob did not, he does share a WILD story about a stalker that followed him around and contacted his family – scary! That does lead us into a funnier encounter about a stalker in Owen Wilson’s house who was wearing his pajamas, and we all want to know who wears pajamas?! B-Dog also brings up a list of things that “Real Men Can’t Do” and Jenners immediately has a LOT of issues with this list. Plus the “pineapple on pizza” debate rages on as we all battle for the best pizza toppings, we lay out what people would be invited on our hypothetical super yachts, and what is an acceptable buy at the dollar store. Finally with the passing of NFL legend Jim Brown we all weigh in with our all-time favorite football players. If you have a question for Rob or a topic for the Shoot Around, send it to [email protected] or @bigshotbobpod on Twitter and Instagram.
