Ep 206Big Shot Bob - Ep 206 – It’s Not The Wand, It’s The Magician

This week, we start with Rob's trip to China, where he enjoyed both the picturesque ocean views and the local hospitality. Upon returning stateside, he enjoys the reality of the Atlanta Braves' current slump, which sets the stage for some comical deflection via the "horrible high-low game" later in the podcast. From there we spin off into the MLB debate of the week about “torpedo bats” and of course things take a strange turn during the debate.

Then it’s on to the free-for-all Pistons versus Timberwolves brawl and the bewildering firing of Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins. What’s the logic behind the Grizzlies' decision to fire a coach amid a successful season? We break down the possible reasons, oscillating between player-coach dynamics and organizational politics. Next, it’s on to college basketball, where the ever-vocal Kim Mulkey stirred the pot with her candid response to a student reporter’s question after LSU was eliminated in the Elite Eight for the second straight year. Mulkey asked the reporter, "How many final fours have you played in?" creating a divide between those who see it as a humorous quip and those who take offense. It's all about expectations and perception as our hosts unpack the nuances of Mulkey's response.

Wrapping up, the team goes through current NBA standings and playoff aspirations, pondering the fate of the Lakers and the remaining playoff hopefuls. Additionally, Harper raises a cheer for the Atlanta Hawks, hoping they’ll snag a play-in spot and bring some much-needed postseason excitement to ATL. It wouldn’t be a sports discussion without stats and records, right? The crew gamely tackled a "horrible high-low game" focusing on dismal sports records across history: Chris Dudley's free-throw foibles, the New York Mets' losing streak, or even the Prairie View A&M’s infamous 10-year losing streak.

00:00 Introduction and Host Banter

00:57 Robert's China Trip Recap

01:23 The Braves' Struggles and New Game

02:02 NBA Talk: Standings and Firing

02:20 Torpedo Bats Controversy

19:58 Pistons vs. Timberwolves Brawl

27:17 Kim Mulkey's Press Conference Reaction

31:27 Kim Mulkey's Personality and Media Perception

32:48 Expectations in NCAA Tournaments

34:32 Comparing LSU to Other Basketball Programs

40:08 The Importance of Failure and Learning

41:09 NBA Playoff Standings and Strategies

48:53 Big Shot of the Week: A Weight Loss Journey

50:58 Historically Bad Sports Records

bonus
Rob opens the discussion by recounting a moment many athletes hope for—the tribute video. A gesture of appreciation that often comes with a mix of emotions, as it did for Robert when the Lakers offered him one. It stems from Jimmy Butler’s return to Miami – and given his impact in taking the team to the Finals, albeit without clinching the championship, the consensus seems to be a resounding "yes," with a focus on patching historical ties and community affection.

We also touch on the loss of boxing legend George Foreman, remembered not only for his prowess in the ring but also for his entrepreneurial success with the George Foreman Grill. This reflective segment prompts a look at favorite boxers, with figures like Roy Jones Jr., Mike Tyson, and Sugar Ray Leonard receiving nods for their impact on both sports and pop culture. A lively debate emerges about the challenges of securing major titles, with a particular focus on the NCAA versus NBA titles. The discussion expands to compare different sports championships, emphasizing the rigorous path and elements faced in NFL playoffs and college football.

Closing with a humorous twist, the show turns to the peculiar injuries athletes sometimes endure off the court. From the infamous incidents like Amari Stoudemire's fire extinguisher mishap to Matt Strom's packing-induced injury, it's a reminder of the unexpected challenges athletes face even in the most mundane tasks. Shaquille O’Neal's playful knife injury story rounds out this section, shedding light on the lighter side of professional sports.

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:44 Tribute Videos in Sports

03:20 Remembering George Foreman

04:02 Favorite Boxers Discussion

05:37 NBA vs. NCAA Titles

07:54 Hardest Titles to Win in Sports

10:58 Coach's Misconduct Incident

14:23 Softest Injuries in Sports

Ep 205Big Shot Bob – Ep 205 – All The Pauls

We kick things off discussing Rob's recent world travels and his unexpected meet-up in Las Vegas with a fellow basketball star. Something that stood out was the engaging discussion on the concept of "two-way players" in the NBA, a term both Robert Horry and Alicia Clark seem to dislike. The focus then shifts towards the Cleveland Cavaliers and the mixed opinions on their playoff readiness. Patrick Beverly’s comments that "Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships" sparked intense debate amongst the crew.

The conversation takes a swift turn towards the Los Angeles Lakers' recent performances, with insight from Uncle Shannon. The ongoing issues with their defense, their inconsistencies, and the importance of staying out of the play-in tournament are scrutinized. The Lakers' battle for consistency and effort is a poignant point of analysis. They seem to oscillate between putting up spirited defense displays and succumbing to laxity.

And with the Sweet 16 set in place, all eyes are on the teams that have made it this far. Seven SEC teams in the Sweet 16 underscore the prowess of the conference this year. Rob shares his predictions, staunchly supporting Florida and Tennessee’s tenacity and unique game styles. However, the room is divided when hot topics like Duke’s reputation in college basketball come up — is college basketball better with or without teams like Duke making strong runs? Chris Paul’s impressive endurance as the second oldest player (almost 40) in the NBA is recognized, despite a career without an NBA championship. And will we ever find out who the busty redhead behind Rick Pitino was? Danny Hurley’s outburst is also a funny point of conversation, especially after the UConn CID threatened to ruin the life of the reporter who posted it. And the show wouldn’t be complete without a round of "Walmart or Waffle House"!

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:36 Robert's Vegas Adventure

02:00 Debating the Term 'Two-Way Player'

03:34 Cleveland Cavaliers Analysis

07:50 Fear and Respect in the NBA

13:57 Lakers' Defensive Struggles

23:38 Chris Paul's Endurance and Legacy

27:29 Juju's Impact on the Team

29:42 Sweet 16 Set in Atlanta

31:00 College Basketball's Best Moments

33:55 Danny Hurley's Outburst

38:14 Rick Pitino's Viral Moment

41:46 Big Shot of the Week

43:40 Walmart or Waffle House Game

Ep 85Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 85 – Typewriter in Dutch
bonus
Kicking off the episode, Rob and the crew delve into the pressing question: "Is James Harden enough to get the Clippers to the Western Conference Finals?" Rob’s candid response shows skepticism, especially in light of key player Kawhi Leonard's uncertain status. This discussion highlights not just Robert's analytical prowess but also his penchant for direct conversations about team dynamics and playoff potential. And as we dive into March Madness, Rob dissects the intimidating reputation UConn holds among competitors, prompting discussions about current players like Juju Watkins at USC and the ongoing competitions that shape the basketball landscape.

The discussion takes an entertaining turn when Brian Scalabrini's recent showdown at New York's legendary West 4th Street Courts is brought into the spotlight. Known for his undying competitive spirit, Scalabrini, at 47, takes on a streetballer who claims New York supremacy and embarrasses the hell out of him. And as a newest member of the Grizzlies, Yuki Kawamura faces a unique challenge—language. Currently picking up English under the mentorship of Ja Morant, Kawamura amusingly and perhaps unfortunately, has learned only colorful phrases so far. This leads to a broader conversation on languages everyone wishes to learn, highlighting the entertaining linguistic misadventures and cultural exchanges that come with cross-border collaborations.

Capping off the episode is a nostalgic journey through sporting greatness. Robert and the guys reminisce about witnessing athletic legends live; from Serena Williams' grace on the tennis court to Michael Jordan dropping 50 points at a Bulls game. These reflections not only speak to the indescribable excitement that legendary performances invoke but also celebrate the remarkable careers that continue to inspire. The crew discusses players they wish they'd seen live—Dr. J, Gale Sayers, and more. These wishes illustrate a deep respect for the game’s evolution and history, emphasizing the impact sports heroes have beyond the court or field.

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:39 Fan Questions: James Harden and the Clippers

01:56 Discussion on UConn and Women's Basketball

05:49 Brian Scalabrini's Streetball Challenge

11:50 Yuki Kawamura and Learning English

13:18 The Easiest Class Ever

13:46 Struggles with Learning Dutch

14:41 Attempting to Learn Spanish

16:04 Interest in Sign Language

16:27 Funny Sign Language Story

18:09 Clemson's Locker Room Mishap

19:03 Elevator Incident at LSU

20:02 Bill Belichick's Yoga Adventure

24:28 Best Athletes Seen Live

Ep 204Big Shot Bob – Ep 204 – Thank God for Towels

The episode kick-starts with the notorious Robert Horry recounting his hectic travel schedule. From the Big Ten Tournament action in Indiana to Vegas and then off to China, Robert traded stories of jet lag and travel woes, shedding light on the busy lifestyle of a retired athlete turned commentator. As the clock turns to March, the team can't help but buzz about the NCAA tournaments. Robert's affinity for Texas Tech stands out, while the group discusses the current college basketball landscape, reliving the trials and triumphs of teams like Duke and Alabama. Brackets are on the agenda, with the hosts even contemplating show brackets to keep the spirit of competition alive.

A significant portion of the podcast is dedicated to dissecting NBA officiating controversies. The crew analyzes Detroit Pistons' coach JD Bickerstaff's fiery outburst over perceived bias in officiating. There's a heartfelt discussion on players like Shaa Gil, LeBron James, and the inequality of foul calls, highlighting the systemic issues in NBA referee culture. Plus we joke about

Shaquille O'Neal's slip-up of attributing Chauncey Billups as the coach of the Pistons when it's actually JD Bickerstaff sparked laughter and light-hearted trolling from social media. The crew reflects on how quickly the NBA coaching carousel spins, connecting the dots between coaching situations around the league.

The podcast ventures into the NBA playoff race, with speculation around the fluctuating fortunes of the Lakers, who have dropped to the 5th seed amid LeBron's injury. Similarly, the resurgence of teams like the Timberwolves and Warriors sparks predictions about potential playoff outcomes. The inclusion of Jimmy Butler seems to have injected new energy into the Warriors, while the Timberwolves, led by the duo of Ant Man and Julius Randle, are clicking at the right moment. The Mavericks can't catch a break with a litany of injuries, including Kyrie Irving, and a fascinating discussion unfolds on how the team copes. Beyond injuries, the Mavs' decision-making comes into question, especially with their much-maligned AI hype video failing to resonate with fans.

This week’s "Big Shot of the Week" title goes to three-year-old Bridger Peabody for his heroic action saving his grandmother. His incredible bravery in retrieving a phone to call 911 after she suffered a serious fall left a mark, emphasizing that even the youngest among us can perform life-saving deeds. As customary, the show wraps with a light-hearted Rapid Fire segment. Robert Ory reigns victorious this week, leaving everyone in smiles and setting the tone for next week’s showdown.

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:32 Travel Adventures and March Madness

02:44 Discussing College Basketball Teams

06:50 NBA Officiating Rant

17:23 Shaq's Hilarious Mix-Up

25:10 LeBron's Impact on the Lakers

25:42 Western Conference Standings

27:22 Magic's Streak-Breaking Win

28:12 Warriors' New Energy with Jimmy Butler

31:20 Timberwolves' Resurgence

32:59 Mavericks' Injury Woes

37:48 Big Shot of the Week: Bridger Peabody

40:29 Rapid Fire Trivia

bonus
Kicking things off, let's tackle Stephen A. Smith's list of the best current NBA duos. Recognizing Tatum and Brown from Boston, LeBron and Luka, Jokic and Murray, Giannis and Dame, and surprisingly, Steph and Jimmy Butler. Do any duos get left out? Our debate focuses on whether Steph and Jimmy belong on this list or if LeBron and Luka's new partnership qualifies. Personally, I lean towards Jokic and Murray as they're a dynamic duo that complements each other well, akin to legendary pairs like Shaq and Kobe or MJ and Scottie.

Now, onto some lighter fare—TV shows. Missing out on cult favorites like Game of Thrones and shows like Paradise might get you dogged by friends, but hey, everyone has their preferences. And finally, the bizarre true crime story of Aaron Goodwin from Ghost Adventures. His wife allegedly hatched a plan to hire a hitman to kill him, only getting caught due to monitored messages from an inmate accomplice. This strange tale prompts a dark but intriguing question: if you received a call about someone plotting against you, who would you suspect? Would a family member, a friend, or perhaps a stranger be out to get you?

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:48 NBA Duos Debate

04:45 Can Dallas Redeem Itself?

08:26 Personal Life Update

11:59 TV Show Recommendations

18:34 Murder for Hire Plot

Ep 203Big Shot Bob - Ep 203 - I'm A Little More Connected

As the podcast unfolds, Rob opens up about his hectic travel schedule. From working major basketball tournaments to quick trips to China as an NBA ambassador, his March is nothing short of a whirlwind. It's the kind of excitement that keeps fans tuned in, eager for behind-the-scenes stories from a sports legend. The conversation shifts to none other than Steph Curry, who is on the verge of making history with his three-point prowess. Rob and his co-hosts discuss Curry's significant achievements and his unyielding passion for the game. There's a debate about the longevity of athletes like Curry and LeBron James, shedding light on what it takes to maintain top performance levels as age inevitably creeps in.

Next, the podcast turns its attention to the Los Angeles Lakers. With LeBron James facing a groin injury, the team finds itself in a precarious position. The panel underscores the importance of strategic play and the challenges the Lakers may encounter without their star player. A sports podcast wouldn't be complete without an MVP race discussion. The competition is heating up between Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA), each delivering season-defining performances. The podcast explores how teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers are making waves with their young, dynamic rosters, bolstered by shrewd acquisitions and strategic planning.

A heartwarming segment on the show recognizes Nicole Munda and Jess Coleman, a couple united by chance at a NASCAR race, leading to a life-saving organ donation story. It's a testament to the unpredictable beauty of life and sport, illustrating far-reaching impacts beyond the field or court. The hosts add a dash of fun with a game focused on quirky rebranding in the sports world. From the Erie Pepperoni Balls to the Jersey Diners, these rebrandings bring a fresh twist to sports team identities, fostering fan engagement and leaving Robert and his co-hosts both amused and intrigued.

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:32 Robert Ory's Busy March Schedule

02:18 March Madness and Upcoming Events

02:56 Steph Curry's Historic Achievements

12:17 LeBron James' Injury and Lakers' Challenges

20:35 MVP Race: Joker vs. Shay

28:44 Cleveland Cavaliers' Winning Streak

31:40 NFL Free Agency and Junior Bridgman Tribute

32:14 Honoring a Pioneer: Junior's Legacy

34:15 NFL Free Agency Frenzy

38:47 Superstitions and Rituals in Sports

45:56 Big Shot of the Week: A Heartwarming Tale

48:31 Rebranding Madness: Real or Fake?

bonus
Imagine chilling at home when suddenly, a drone hovers near your window. Creepy, right? This is exactly the situation Jack and Jill, neighbors of Robert Ory, found themselves in. After weeks of these unsettling flyovers, Jack believed the drone was spying on his attractive wife, Jill. While debating on action, they entertained hilarious suggestions from friends… Report it: Certainly a sensible route. Call the cops and establish a record. Perhaps not as immediately satisfying but practical…. Track it: Suggestions ranged from sticking an AirTag on it to following it with another drone. A techo-savvy and adventurous choice, but probably difficult to execute… Shoot it down: Armed with a pellet gun, this option involves strong action. But let's face it, this might lead to more trouble than it's worth.

Could an NBA player or analyst transition seamlessly into the role of President? According to Stephen A. Smith, if he were to run, he'd win. But what about others in the NBA-verse?

Some top contenders include Jalen Brown: Known for his intelligence, Brown might be the cerebral choice for leadership… Steph Curry: A popular candidate post-retirement, he could be the relatable leader we didn't know we needed… Ernie Johnson: Perhaps the most trustworthy voice in sports media, Johnson has a reputation that precedes him… While Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley, despite being beloved figures, might be too entertaining to shift from broadcast to the White House, they're sure to inspire some intriguing policies.

You can't talk sports without mentioning movies. Who doesn't love a good sports movie? Here's a look at some of the all-time favorites discussed… Space Jam: A classic blend of animation and sports, it's a film that resonates across generations.. Remember the Titans: Often topping favorites lists, it's not just a sports film, but a moving story of unity… Waterboy: Adam Sandler's Bobby Boucher might not top serious lists, but his comical antics are hard to forget. To wrap up, let's not forget the joys of a good card game. While Uno and Blackjack may bring fun to family game nights, it's Spades that truly tests friendships and nerves alike. Though intimidating for newcomers, learning to play might just be worth the struggle.

00:00 Introduction and Welcome

00:25 The Drone Dilemma

05:33 Stephen A. Ep 202Big Shot Bob – Ep 202 – Tariffs on Tickets

The Los Angeles Lakers have shown a beacon of hope for their fans, soaring to the second seed after a challenging start. This rise, led by a rejuvenated LeBron James and the transformative addition of Luka Doncic, has contributed significantly to their resurgence this season. While LeBron remains an MVP contender at 40, the spotlight on the Lakers also highlights the crucial role of 'Vando' and 'Dodo', who provide defensive might. The real question lingering in the halls of crypto.com arena is: Can they sustain this momentum and make a profound impact during the playoffs?

Moving beyond the Lakers, the NBA landscape has been a mix of stunning performances and unforeseen challenges. Shea Gilgeous-Alexander, playing like a man on a mission, leads the NBA in points, often overshadowing seasoned players. Yet, it's not just about individual brilliance. The league is witnessing a transformation, with many teams redefining their strategies, adapting to the indefatigable demand for defense and cohesion. Yet, challenges persist. Karen Durant remains a figure of interest post his seafood restaurant rumors, and the haze around Anthony Edwards, despite his commendable performances, reflects a need for maturity amid rising fines and suspensions.

It's also a season of record-breaking and prestigious achievements in sports history. Diana Taurasi, the legendary WNBA player, announced her retirement, leaving behind a legacy filled with records and awe-inspiring performances. From 84 years of marriage by the enduring couple Manuel Angelim Dino and Maria de Sousa Dino, breaking the Guinness World Record, to LeBron James etching his name with 1,000 career regular season wins, the theme of longevity and perseverance stands tall.

No sports season would be complete without its share of controversies and dramas. Jimmy Butler's landlord issues in Miami and the Mavericks' head-turning 8% ticket price hike capture the inverse side of sports fame and fandom. These incidents serve as timely reminders of the pressures and pitfalls that accompany athletic success. While the league continues to thrive, the debate around who will emerge as the new face of the NBA remains abuzz. With seasoned veterans like LeBron stepping aside, younger talents like Tatum and Giannis are slowly taking the mantle. Yet, the landscape is ever-evolving, forcing us to ponder: Is America ready to embrace an international star as the face of their beloved NBA?

As the basketball season unfolds, it's not just about the games. It's a tapestry of human stories, records being made and broken, the emergence of new talent, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual observer, these narratives resonate deeply, reminding us why sports hold such a cherished space in our culture. Ep 82Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 82 – A True Southern Beard-Off
bonus
We talk to Rob on this week’s bonus show about he felt about getting passed over for the Hall of Fame, and he says he didn’t think it would happen on his first ballot anyway but he was disappointed by not moving on. Jenners also brings up Stephen A’s top contenders to take on the Celtics largely because the Lakers made the list at #3, and Rob feels like they would need a lot of things to go right for them to get there this year. We all agree that we’d like to see OKC take on Boston for the title this year, and a Cavs-Celtics Eastern Conference Finals would be amazing.

After Steph’s “night-night” photo dropped from the Olympics last week, we get into our favorite NBA photos of all time… even though Rob says that HIS shot over the Pistons is his all time favorite. Rob jokes about how everyone in LeBron’s scoring record photo had their phone out, which takes us down the road of the merits of taking photos in a big moment or just trying to enjoy it while you were there. And after Channing Frye said nostalgia is killing the NBA, we debate about how the game should and should not be compared to previous eras of basketball. And Rob takes some accountability about creating the shot-heavy NBA as a big man who shot a lot of threes.

How would B-Dog due as an NBA Ambassador? What would you do if you had to sit next to a dead woman, like what happened this week on a Qatar Airlines flight? The craziest stories of the week close out this long bonus show this week.

Ep 201Big Shot Bob – Ep 201 – White Privilege

We open with the “Luka revenge game” as the Lakers and Mavericks faced off for the first time since the blockbuster trade. Rob feels like Lakers fans are looking to win it all right now, and Luka needs to tighten up on the other end of the floor if they’re even going to have a shot. Rob has still not committed to this move because of a bad loss to the Hornets and some tight wins that should have been bigger. This week’s story was about Luka’s taste for “beer and hookah” in Dallas was one of the reasons they moved on from him, and even though he has trimmed out in LA we wonder how long it will take before he gets comfortable again.

Rob also has strong words for the “fans” that are threatening Nico’s family and kids, and we talk about the roots of that kind of fandom and how the Mavs may have had a hand in creating the Luka-monster in Dallas before trading him away. Plus we talk about Wembanyama being out for the season and what that means for Jaren Jackson Jr’s hunt for a supermax deal, and how Evan Mobley might have torpedoed the entire deal. And with Naz Reid potentially on the move, we talk about how he should be getting more starts in Minnesota with the numbers and level of play he’s shown so far this season.

Plus the story of the year so far in the NBA is easily the bounce back of the Detroit Pistons under J.B. Bickerstaff and Cade Cunningham, and how Detroit plays with more attitude then most in the league. And it wouldn’t be a week in the NBA without looking at the demise of the Philadelphia 76ers, as Paul George continues to struggle and Joel Embiid remains hurt. Rob digs up his pre-season playoff list to make a point that even though he picked the Sixers to make the playoffs, we all had bad picks when we knew nothing at the start of the season. That leads us into the current NBA standings and how we see this last month of the season shaking out.

We close it out with an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to an officer who went the extra mile to help a young kid delivering pizzas in the snow… followed by a hilarious edition of Black Crime or White Crime!

Ep 200Big Shot Bob - Episode 200 - The ENTIRE Spectrum LA Crew

It's show #200!!! And Rob and Jenners are joined by the ENTIRE Spectrum Sportsnet Los Angeles crew - including the Hall of Famer Big Game James Worthy, LA Times writer Broderick Turner, and studio hosts Allie Clifton, Mike Bresnahan and Chris Geeter McGee - all at the same time!

Rob did not make the list of Hall of Fame Finalists this year, so we start by asking James Worthy about what it was like when he got the call - and he jokes that he didn't make it until his third try and the first two let downs really upset him. Then we get into the mess that was the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, as James and BT feel like it would just be better to go back to the original East-West format and play for either pride or home court advantage.

Allie Clifton weighs in (from the parking lot at Spectrum, as she's gotta work tonight) as does producer and host Mike Bresnahan. We also get Chris McGee joining the conversation as we break down Mac McClung winning his third dunk title, what it would take to fix the dunk contest, and what everyone wants to see during All-Star Weekend in the future.

We of course have to speak to the Lakers of it all, since we are joined by the entire Lakers TV crew - and everyone has mixed opinions about the Mark Williams failed trade and LeBron's health going forward. And James hammers Rob about whether or not Alabama is going to make a run at the NCAA title this year, because he knows his North Carolina Tar Heels won't!

THANK YOU for rolling with us for 200 shows, and thank you to the entire Spectrum crew for making it one to remember!

Ep 81Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 81 – The M&M Bleed
bonus
We open the bonus show this week by talking about Joel Embiid, and the possibility of him needing yet another knee surgery. Rob feels like he did himself a disservice by playing in the Olympics and that the Sixers need to work with their doctors instead of his to try and get him back on the floor. Plus a listener wants to know if we’re sleeping on the Trail Blazers, who are still a young team and not that good yet, but Rob feels like they have a lot of upside.

Rob also defends his stance that the Lakers need to take the ball OUT of AR’s hands, after he had a monster night against the Pacers, but Rob says its because he just holds the ball too long and takes too many shots when he needs to spread it around more. Harper also thinks that Lakers need to work more on building around a big and less on the shooting guards that have been dominating the game. And listeners want to know Rob’s opinion on a player like Bradley Beal going back to the Wizards (even though they are not good) to be the big dog on the floor as opposed to getting limited time on a team that should be better.

Lastly, as Ben Simmons leaves the Nets, we ask Rob what team is immediately better if a player leaves town. And on Valentine’s Day, we ask all the guys about their top three candy bars and of course a huge debate breaks out.

Ep 199Big Shot Bob – Ep 199 – The Hair Club Mafia

Rob opens this week’s show from Austin, Texas – as he calls the Texas-Alabama game for Compass Media this week! And we also dive head first into Luka’s debut as an LA Laker, as Rob is still holding out judgement until they face some more serious competition. Rob says it felt like an All-Star game moment at times but Harper feels like it can work with time. We also dive into the wild fans that are throwing death threats at Nico Harrison, the conspiracy theories surrounding the Luka trade out of Dallas, and the unfortunate Anthony Davis injury that went down in his debut game for the Mavericks.

Plus the Dalton Knecht trade that fell through lands squarely on Robert Horry’s radar, because it happened to HIM when he almost got traded to Detroit. Rob talks about how his failed trade really worked for his career and hopes that Dalton’s failed trade has the same positive impact. That of course launches into the Lakers’ need for a big man, and sure enough both Dwight Howard and DeMarcus Cousins both pop up. Jimm Butler’s move to Golden State takes over the conversation, as both Rob and B-Dog really like the move, and even though Golden State is trailing in the standings Rob still feels like a young team like OKC in the Playoffs could pop up and bite them. Plus we are all surprised that Phoenix spent so much time last week trying to move Kevin Durant which may end up being the end of his time with the Suns.

We also get Harper’s break down of the Trae Young situation in Atlanta and how he’ll likely be moved within the next couple of seasons, and everyone has flowers for the Philadelphia Eagles, from the front four to Jalen Hurts. We also dish out a simple but inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and with Rob travelling so much we roll out a round of “Where in the World is Robert Horry?”

Ep 80Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 80 – The Wind in His Face
bonus
On the anniversary of the Patriots losing in WILD fashion to the Giants in the Super Bowl, we talk about the craziest endings to games we can remember. Candidates include the Tracy McGrady flurry to beat the Rockets, the Reggie Miller game against the Knicks and Kobe outscoring the Mavericks in just three quarters. And in honor of Jalen Smith wearing a house on his head at the Grammys, we talk about some of the crazies things we’ve seen people wear out in public.

Rob also weighs in on how excited he is for the new Captain America flick and just how bad the Sony Marvel flicks have been now that we’ve seen Kraven the Hunter. Listeners also want to know when the last time Rob played actual basketball or if he’s just too old, and he jokes that every time he tries to get after it he ends up hurting himself. Plus one of our buddies was so excited to go to the Super Bowl that he accidentally left his luggage behind at the house, which prompts a conversation about stuff we left behind on vacation. And after a listener turned his parent on to Little Caesars, we all talk about the food or restaurants that we were turned on to, or turned other people on to.

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 198Big Shot Bob – Ep 198 – 11 Is More Than 1

We open the show with the biggest story in all of sports this week, the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade to the Lakers. Everyone throws out their initial reactions to this huge story, including Rob’s feelings that there were behind-the-scenes factors that played a big part in this trade that no one is discussing, like his entourage, not training with the team and his lack of conditioning. That said, Rob says he’s not that concerned about Luka’s weight because he is still getting the job done on the floor. Defensively there are still a lot of questions, especially when you look at his performance in the NBA Finals just a couple of seasons back, but the hope is that he is able to improve that while playing alongside LeBron.

The money on the table is also a big angle in this Luka story, as he would be leaving over $116 MILLION on the table due to this trade because he’s not ineligible for a supermax deal. Does Rob feel like the Mavericks might have moved him to save some of that money? Plus the Lakers made a statement to LeBron James by making a move without his consideration, and Rob feels like this is just another indicator that LeBron needs to start moving aside as the leader of the team. Rob and B-Dog both feel like Luka and LeBron will be able to play with each other because LeBron has showed he could do it in a lot of other situations.

De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio was the other big move of the week, as De’Aaron lands in a great situation alongside Victor Wembanyama as the Spurs try to rebuild around some young pieces. Jenners also loses last week’s bet as Jimmy Butler continues to blow up every deal that’s presented to him, and we were pretty convinced he’d at least have a deal in place by now. Plus we cannot figure out how the Warriors could ever pull together the resources to get Kevin Durant back, and we cannot figure out what New Orleans is doing with Zion as they continue to limit his playing time.

We also debate the Super Bowl fatigue we’re getting over the Kansas City Chiefs, we give out a buffet-driven Big Shot of the Week, and close it out with a fun round of Shootout!

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 197Big Shot Bob – Ep 197 – Get Us Paid Son

Rob spent the week in Dubai with NBA legend Michael Cooper, and jokes that it was an amazing place to spend time if he was about 20 years younger. The Lakers are helping UCLA build some hospitals overseas and Rob jokes that Mike made him do all the talking the entire trip. And as we creep in on NBA All-Star weekend, we await to see where Rob will fall in the Hall of Fame class announcements… but Rob doesn’t have high hopes of making the cut his first year on the ballot. Plus Rob tries to put the All-Star snubs of Norman Powell and Trae Young into perspective for the fans.

The Bronny James saga has again resurfaced as his recent struggles, and Rob feels like the Lakers are putting him in a bad spot by continuing to roll him out there when he’s clearly not ready. And as a father of a son who has NBA hopes, Rob is hoping to have a team invest in him like the Lakers have in Bronny regardless of his struggles. Rob also lays out the scenarios where the Heat actually move on from Jimmy Butler, because he believes that Pat Riley will only do what’s best for the Heat and not what’s best for Jimmy. Plus how are the Kings voluntarily moving on from De’Aaron Fox when he should be the piece they build the future of the Kings around.

Joel Embiid missed the 400th game of his career this week, meaning that he’s missed 47% of his CAREER games – and Rob believes that if he ever signs another NBA contract, it will have to come with stipulations about not paying him for games he doesn’t play. We also play the audio of Adam Silver saying he would be a fan of shortening quarters to 10 minutes, and Rob says there is NO way it ever happens because it would affect sponsorship dollars. And if he wants to speed up the game, they need to eliminate the terminally long foul reviews that eat up way more time than necessary.

Would you try the new Peanut Butter & Jelly M&Ms? Rob says he’s excited to give them a shot… gross. We also offer up a Big Shot of the Week to an LA restaurateur who is putting the community ahead of herself by using her surviving restaurants to feed people displaced by the tragic fires. And a really fun new version of Rapid Fire called “Did You Know?”

Ep 79Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 79 – The Most Bi-Polar Podcast in Sports
bonus
We open up the bonus show this week with a challenge… can Rob and Harper guess the Top 10 in the NBA’s latest MVP ladder? Surprises like Cade Cunningham make the list, and some love for Karl-Anthony Towns who is leading the league in rebounds. We also discuss how guys like Ja Morant can’t receive any regular season awards now that he’s missed too many games, and whether you count as a “comeback player” if you missed time for getting suspended.

After the viral video of the woman who CRASHED the golf cart carrying Ryan Day and Will Howard to the field following Ohio State’s National Championship win, listeners want to know about the dumbest accidents we’ve gotten into – and Rob jokes that he wrecked a friend’s car in high school and somehow they got paid MORE than the care was worth! We also bring a wild Michael Jordan stat to the show, showcasing just how good he was, and Rob says he’s got nothing but massive respect for his game because he’s not a hater.

A listener wants to know if it’s okay to wear his wife’s favorite team’s jersey, as long as it’s not a rival team… and everyone has a bit of a different opinion about if that violates “fan code.” And everyone sounds off on bucket list destinations in sports, as Harper wants to sit courtside in LA for a Lakers game, and Jenners and Rob want to hit the road to experience historic MLB ballparks… just perfect for NBA guys!

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 196Big Shot Bob – Ep 196 – Swimming in the Devil’s Pool

We open the show with news that Rob is headed to Dubai to do an event with the Lakers – even though he has NO idea what he’s supposed to do! Rob says he’s excited to go to Dubai but refuses to go up on the deck of the Burj Khalifa because he hates heights, which spins us into a discussion about bucket list travel destinations. After we settle in, we get right into the latest on the Jimmy Butler drama – because while the Suns seem to be the destination of choice for Jimmy, Rob makes a compelling argument about why he’d be so much better as a Golden State Warrior.

Rob also reacts to Lou Williams saying the Suns are not a good team, agreeing that they are “top heavy” in their roster and they need to secure a bench. The debate about Jayson Tatum being called “soft” breaks out, as it comes down to someone who is “quiet” being labeled as “soft”. Rob says that players that have antics on and off the floor are a cover, because it means they aren’t confident enough to let their game speak for itself.

We also dive into some wild James Harden stats, whether Maverick Carter’s “rival NBA” idea can find any footing, and how everyone felt about Ohio State winning the National Championship Game. A Big Shot of the Week goes out to Jay Leno, Vanessa Bryant, and the celebrities that are helping provide to Los Angeles residents and first responders in the wake of the wildfires. And we close it out with a fun game of NBA High-Low!

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 78Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 78 – Black Robot or White Robot
bonus
As we close in on our 200th episode of the “big” show, we pick Rob’s brain about who he’d want for the 200th show. Show 100 was Bill Walton (RIP) and Rob suggests Dodgers manager Dave Roberts or James Worthy, who Rob though was already on the show. There was also some really interesting audio from Dwight Howard this week who is yet again sounding off on how he’s treated by Shaquille O’Neal – and if it’s indeed over the “Superman” nickname, Rob equates it to Chauncy Billups calling himself “Mr. Big Shot” and how it never bothered him. And we try to figure out which SEC head coach (Lane Kiffin) dropped into Sydney Thomas’s DMs!

Listeners call Rob to the carpet on his performance on “World’s Toughest Test” as there is a new season, and Cam Newton and Golden Tate are both performing really well… where Rob really didn’t. Rob also backs up Rick Barnes after the Tennessee men’s basketball coach benched one of his star players, Chaz Lanier, for not shooting the ball as that’s what he’s “being paid to do”, and it just reinforces that the old college sports model is dead and it’s now minor league sports. Plus listeners want to know if Rob would buy one of the new AI powered robots that were rolled out at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, and Rob does NOT want one because he’s a big believer in Terminator.

And we of course have to talk about the story of the week… the giant coyote that got pulled out of the produce section of an Aldi in Chicago. That leads us into a crazy conversation about our run-ins with wild animals!

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 195Big Shot Bob - Ep 195 - Those Aren't Tide Pods

The guys are BACK after a very tough week for both Horry and Jenners. Rob was obviously touch-and-go all week with the insane California wildfires. He talks about how he could see them from his house, went several days without power and how he and his wife had to pack the items they felt were irreplaceable in case the worst happened. Thankfully Rob's house was fine and his family is okay. Jenners also had an impossibly hard week, as he and his wife lost their son Cody right after the New Year. Cody Corby was only 32, and the Jenners family is trying to find a way forward without him.

We quickly pivot back to basketball, and we're all a little bummed that we missed out on the Jason Whitlock and Joy Taylor audio from last week (which we play and laugh at anyway). Plus we get Rob's thoughts on the Jimmy Butler drama in Miami, and if the Heat can even find a way forward if he indeed remains on the roster. Rob tries to figure out where it all went wrong for Jimmy in Miami, who had a good run for a while in that city, and why it's not in Miami's best interest to trade him.

And everyone jumps in on Zion Williamson's suspension for lateness (and fatness) with the audio of the week from Shannon and Stephen A laying into him. Rob says lateness shows a greater disrespect for the team, and characterizes him as a guy who only cares about himself. Harper points out that he's putting unneeded stress on his body by trying to be a high-flying dunker. Plus a look around the NBA standings, with surprise seasons from the Cavs, Rockets and Grizzlies thus far. Stand out players like Zach LaVine, Karl Anthony-Towns in New York, and the wild numbers that Nikola Jokic is putting up AGAIN this season.

The Tweet of the Week comes from Mad Max Vernon Maxwell who took time to dunk on the Utah Jazz again, we play some hilarious audio from TLC's new show about Tourette's syndrome, and a funny Big Shot of the Week to the Sacramento reporter that got nabbed looking at Rhianna's Instagram during a live shot. We make our picks for the National Championship Game on Monday night, and close it out with a hilarious round of Black Crime or White Crime!

This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! Ep 77Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 77 - What Time Do I Need To Be There
bonus
The bonus show opens with some love for Ja'Kobi Lane, who caught three touchdowns in the USC Bowl win... but we did NOT expect his voice to sound the way it did! Really it's any excuse to bring back the Dutch runner who sounds like Mickey Mouse. We also get a listener question about Toledo rushing the field three times before they actually won their bowl game against Pitt, as a listener is convinced they jinxed it. And Rob talks about a time that he was asked to wear NBA Champions shirts before they had actually won, and decided to do it because the money was too good.

One of the biggest debates of the week in the NBA hits the bonus show, as we get into Wemby shooting a high volume of 3-pointers. Rob wants him to develop his shot from mid-range more than his three. Harp wants him to put on weight. Jenners argues that this is the one time in his career he can goof around with shot selection and build his game outside-in. Let us know where you fall in on this one.

We wrap it up by talking about the Happy Gilmore 2 trailer that dropped on Christmas Day, and what movie sequels we were excited for that let us down. Candidates include Joker 2, Rush Hour 3, and Coming to America 2 (a big one),

Ep 194Big Shot Bob - Ep 194 - This Is What I Do

We are BACK from the holiday break with the news that Robert Horry is on the HALL OF FAME BALLOT! And while he isn't sure he will get in with a crowded nomination class, the fact that he's officially in the conversation is huge. He tells us how he found out, what the reactions have been from friends and fans and why he believes he deserves to be there.

Rob also gets into the D'Angelo Russell trade from LA to the Nets (again) and admits that he likes the move for D-Lo's future. Harper thinks Finney-Smith is a great fit for the Lakers if he sticks to his role as a perimeter shooter and defender. And the firing of Mike Brown threw everyone for a loop - and Rob speculates that one of the Kings star players must have sounded off to management and that's what made it happen so abruptly. Mike Malone held nothing back by saying the move shows that Sacramento management has "no class" and how that message resonates to the owners and GMs around the league.

Everyone talks about the fun they had on Christmas break, until Rob decided to shoot Jenners a text to remind him that Draymond Green already has 7 techs, as Jenners bet of "under 10" for the season really starts to implode. That leads us into the incident caught on tape where Draymond was cursing out Buddy Hield on the floor and later saying it was his was of motivating him. Rob sounds off, saying he was never motivated by people yelling at him and had a huge disagreement with a teammate in Houston over that. Which spins us into a conversation about how guys choose to motivate their teammates and what really works.

Anthony Edwards got popped $100K for cursing on live TV, and Rob says the big fine was the NBA trying to send a message to players to watch their language on live TV. And we celebrate the return of NBA fights, after Amen Thompson threw down Tyler Herro - and the Marshall-Nurkic suspensions came down in the Dallas-Phoenix fight. We also jump into the College Playoff picks for the quarter finals games this week, which has us all going in different directions. And we close with a Big Shot of the Week to the National Police of Peru for arresting drug dealers on Christmas dressed as the Grinch - and a hilarious round of "It Happened This Year" where we try to remember specifics about stuff that went down in 2024.

Ep 76Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 76 - Slide to the Left, Slide to the Right
bonus
We open the bonus show this week talking about Duke star Cooper Flagg, and what Rob thinks he can become in the NBA as the chatter around his draft stock continues to bubble. Rob is big on Dylon Harper, Ron Harper's son at Rutgers, but he does believe that Flagg will still be a force in the NBA. Duane sends in a question about who we would go with in De'Aaron Fox vs Trae Young in a 1-on-1, and while we all like Trae's shot, everyone goes with Fox for a number of reasons.

Audio of the week comes from Panthers rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette who admits he ate RACCOON for Thanksgiving, and we go around the globe and see what exotic delicacies Rob has tried and what he likes. And a listener wants to know if the Clippers can make the playoffs even if Kawhi Leonard is never healthy, and at what point he should stop hoping that Kawhi will look like his old self.

Clem asks Rob who the worst shooter he ever played with was, coming off the Bulls and Hornets missing a combined 75 three-pointers in one game! Rob jokes that it would never happen in his day because players would stop passing you the ball. And we close it out with our annual Christmas traditions and how much they've changed as we've gotten older.

Ep 193Big Shot Bob – Ep 193 – I’m Texting That to Dabo

We are closing out our final week of the year with the NBA Cup Final, as the Bucks and Thunder match up in the battle of who-gets-paid. Everyone makes their picks and we take turns bouncing around the NBA trade radar. It runs the gamut from the annual Jimmy Butler trade rumors, to the Lakers adding pieces they might not need, and everyone scratches their heads at the state of the Washington Wizards.

Plus it’s the first round of the College Football Playoffs this weekend, and everyone makes their picks on all the big games. Arguments arise about the legitimacy of a Mountain West Champion in Boise State, how no one has any faith in Notre Dame, and all the questions about James Franklin’s big game record. We wonder if Ohio State will actually show up in a big spot, and Rob picks against his buddy Dabo Swinney as they get ready to face Texas.

Freddie Freeman’s baseball also set a record at auction this week, which leads us to ask what sports memorabilia would you want if you had a blank check – and responses ranges from Kobe game-worn gear, to Rob wanting Hank Aaron’s jersey from the day he broke the home run record. And after De’Vandre Campbell quit on the Niners, Rob admits that he’s done it in NBA games when he didn’t want to play “scrub minutes”. Plus, with the wave of NFL home invasions, Rob is reminded of a time in his day when the NBA started to warn players about a breakout of car jackings in the 90’s.

We also give a Big Shot of the Week to Louisville head basketball coach Pat Kelsey, who had one of the best answers to a press question we’ve heard in a while. And we close out our final “big” show before Christmas with a hilarious Christmas-themed round of Rapid Fire!

Ep 75Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 75 - The Paycheck Tracker
bonus
The Shoot Around starts with Nikola Jokic who said this week that players should get paid LESS for losses to use as motivation. As a fan Jenners doesn't hate the idea, but Rob feels like it's disrespectful because guys take that money with the idea that you're always try to win. We also joke about how funny it would be to have a stat tracker that watches a player's paycheck go down as the game gets away from them. Kirk also asks if we're sleeping on the Grizzlies, and Rob reminds us that before his suspension and injury, he was in the MVP conversation and is the spark plug for the rest of the team.

We also get Rob's thoughts about Shams reporting that the Warriors are on a hunt for another "star", and Rob says when he looks at the Warriors he thinks they need to add strength and size. Donny's question for the show is regarding the Knicks but Rob still isn't buying it. And we have to discuss the video that went viral this week comparing Jokic's moves to Magic's and how similar they look, and it sounds like Rob is FINALLY on the Jokic bandwagon. And which player would we take?

And we close out the show with the story of Kirk Herbstreit's son Chase committing to Michigan, after his dad made his name at Ohio State. We ask Rob what school would burn him up if his son decided to commit to a rival. Ep 192Big Shot Bob – Ep 192 – What’s an Inch Here and There

We open this week’s show as Rob laments Alabama missing the College Football Playoff, which spins us into the biggest sports story of the week as we try to figure out if strength of schedule is a myth based on who made it in. We also joke about Notre Dame, as Cam Newton calls out the Irish for consistently letting fans down in bowl season, and how they need to affiliate with a conference in the future or be left out of the Playoff. Rob also asks the show if you were a top prospect whether you’d play in your bowl game, and everyone on the show agrees that you SHOULDN’T if you are a projected first round pick, unless there is language in their NIL contracts stating otherwise.

Rob says his Mom had a blast at Friday’s Lakers-Hawks game, which ended in a while overtime win for the Hawks, which leads us into the current struggles of the Lakers. Rob says LeBron continues to struggle playing one-on-one with guys, how incredible this recent Jokic run as been for the Nuggets, and whether the Brandon Ingram rumor has any merit in helping fix the Lakers issues. We also have some laughs at this week’s insane Mike Brown press conference (which went on painfully long) and whether the Kings need to move on from him in order for this Kings lineup to find their way back this season.

Juan Soto may have brought trouble into Rob’s marriage after he broke off the biggest deal in sports history, because baseball money is for REAL compared to the NBA. That sends us into this conversation about what NBA player you would want to get if you had a blank check to write, and the answers range from Giannis, to Wemby, to Steph. We also debate whether or not ESPN will force Stephen A Smith onto the new Inside the NBA, give out a really inspiring Big Shot of the Week that honors injured veterans and first responders… and we cap it off with our annual round of “Is It a Bowl Game??”

Ep 74Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 74 – A Brown Bag Full of Pudding
bonus
Rob and Rob are back for the Friday bonus show, with starts with everyone dumping on MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for proposing the “Golden At-Bat” rule at the Winter Meetings, because we just don’t like it. That spins into the rule about having a runner at second base at the start of every inning in extra innings. Rob also fields a listener question about why the Spurs-Mavericks Game 7 in the 2006 Western Conference Semifinals made the Prime show about “Best Game 7’s” and Rob says he HATES that game because it’s the game that cost him a ring after Manu Ginobili fouled Dirk Nowitzki.

We also dive into the story about Steve Spagnuolo’s wife giving the one player on the Chiefs defense with the best hit a full Italian dinner, and what incentives Rob received in his day. And while he didn’t have a lot of incentives in the way of food, he did have some cash incentives with coaches and players that made him a few bucks in the day. And Bobby wants to know if NBA teams got together for post-game meals after the Christmas games, to which Rob answers that it only happened when they were on the road. That spins us off into a conversation about what Rob likes to cook, and how he graduated up to cook the Thanksgiving turkey this year.

White Chocolate also said this week that NBA Christmas is better than NFL Thanksgiving, and Rob jokes that he used to love NFL on Thanksgiving until they forced us to watch the terrible Cowboys this year! And a debate breaks out after we decide to CUT one player between Devin Booker, Donvan Mitchell, Anthony Edwards and Jaylen Brown.

This week’s episode is presented by our amazing friends at Uncommon Goods! Ep 191Big Shot Bob - Ep 191 - Sweet Talk Me With 100K

We open the show with Jenners saying that he really hates the NBA Cup, largely because it feels like a gimmick for an otherwise successful league – while Rob and B-Dog say that it has a benefit to league by guys playing hard in the regular season when otherwise they wouldn’t. And the debate rages about it’s value to casual NBA fans. Plus a look at the NBA standings starts to tell the story about the caliber of basketball that most teams are playing – including the Lakers, who despite getting embarrassed the other night have played relatively well so far this season.

Since B-Dog has to leave a little early for a work commitment, we jump ahead and do a hilarious round of Walmart or Waffle House! Then Rob and Rob get into whether or not Anthony Davis should be in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year, after he came out this week and said he was frustrated by never being in consideration for one. We also try to figure out what happened from last season to this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, because they are on a losing skid and have not played that well this season. Rob thinks that has a lot to do with team chemistry because it’s something that numbers and salaries don’t account for.

We round out the show with a conversation about Caitlin Clark’s star power as opposed to the under-30 guys in the NBA today, and where that attention really comes from and what it does to the egos of younger players. Plus Ja Morant’s back and playing great, but still has a long road to climb to get back into good graces of NBA media and fans. And of course we get into all the wild fights from college football rivalry week, and give out another inspiring and motivational Big Shot of the Week.

This week’s episode is presented by our amazing friends at Uncommon Goods! Ep 190Big Shot Bob – Ep 190 – Pick A Struggle

It’s Thanksgiving Week and everyone has stuff going on! Rob’s entire family is in town (which we’re not sure he’s all that thrilled about) and Harper is at the beach with his family. But we still come together at this time for thanks… and dump on the Sixers for going snitch hunting this past week! We are all in agreement about Tyrese Maxey being the likely snitch, but Rob is floored that Joel Embiid continues to be late in the face of all the team’s struggles. Plus Rob’s favorite story of the week was Fred VanVleet starting a huge arguments with the refs and somehow not catching a suspension or a bigger fine than LeMelo Ball got last week.

The viral audio of the week comes from the Timberwolves broadcast, who continued to double down on how bad Jaylen Brown had been shooting from three while he continues to drain one after another in the opening minutes of their game! Rob is also intrigued by the idea of the Eastern and Western conferences not being “equal” in the post season format but rather the best 16 teams from across the league making the cut – and the debate rages about traditionalism versus new-age consumers when it comes to pro sports.

We also round out the show with some hilarious audio of President Biden trying to introduce the Boston Celtics during their White House visit, the NBA’s updated MVP ladder (on which Rob feels like LeBron needs to be higher based on what he’s doing at age 40), and a hilarious debate about ESPN’s best “Big threes” in the NBA, with some not even making the list! The college football pandemonium also takes center stage, as we get Rob’s thoughts on Alabama’s sub-par season, largely because Bama fans have been spoiled for so long, and Jenners tries to break down the WILD end of the Arizona State-BYU game. Plus a truly amazing and inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and a fun high-low Thanksgiving game as we roll into the holiday weekend!

This week’s show is presented by Draft Kings and Manscaped!!

Grab some TDs with DraftKings Sportsbook – because they’re on sale from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday! Ep 73Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 73 – Be My Spit Man
bonus
Now that the debacle of the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight has ended, we check out what former NBA players are the odds-on favorites to fight Jake Paul. Artest, Dwight Howard and others we get… but how is Charles Oakley no on this list?? That also leads us into the Shaq vs Dwight Howard fight idea that Dwight posed on social media this week… and Shaq abruptly shut down. Maybe the Big Fella knows he isn’t in as good of shape as Dwight these days.

And with Inside the NBA surviving, listeners want to know what show we would love to get another season of… and top answers were The Sopranos and definitely Chappelle’s Show! Plus the Defensive Player of the Year conversation around Atlanta’s Dyson Daniels is NOT one we had on our Bingo card. De’Aaron Fox also comes up as someone Rob loves, but listeners feel like he doesn’t get enough love on the show. And after Ben Simmons played 22 minutes this week without scoring a single point, listeners want to know if Rob ever did that as a starter… and he says NO WAY, because he was still young enough to dunk in those days.

This week’s show is presented by Manscaped and Uncommon Goods!!

Get the Chairman Pro Package today and experience a shave that is as smooth as you deserve. Ep 189Big Shot Bob – Episode 189 – Rob Makes NBA Ref Money

We open with Rob joking that Jenners is going to lose the Draymond Green less-than 10 technical fouls bet after he got TWO the other night and has already notched four this season. Rob also HATES that the NBA refs continue to put out statements after the games that they missed calls, like what happened on the Jayson Tatum game winner from the other night, and how that doesn’t do anything except upset the fan base. Plus everyone on the show is really happy that Inside the NBA got picked up by ESPN, but to still be produced by Turner, as that show has proved to be a very good spotlight for the league over the years.

Rob also thinks that Mike Tyson just ran out of steam in the Jake Paul fight but does not believe the fight was rigged. We also have some props for Anthony Davis and LeBron James as they continue to dominate early in the season, especially with LeBron at the doorstep of 40 years old. And we all laugh at the farce of the Lakers now saying they DON’T want to trade D-Lo because he’s playing so well off the bench, because that’s exactly the time you do trade him! Plus LeMelo Ball’s $100K fine caught us a little off guard due to the context of the comment he made, but Rob says it was clear that they were sending a message to people not to cross that line, especially when it comes to the league’s sponsors.

James Harden also made history this week by surpassing Ray Allen for second on the all-time three-pointers made list, which doesn’t really change his legacy until he elevates the Clippers and wins a ring. And with Cleveland entering this week still unbeaten at 15-0, Rob says they could be way better than anyone anticipated down the stretch but might not make it to the Finals as the 15-0 teams of the past have done. And we try to make sense of the Philadelphia 76ers who continue to just fall apart right in front of our eyes, even though Rob thinks they will still find a way to make the playoffs.

And it wouldn’t be a week if we didn’t argue about the College Football Playoff and what happens if a 2-loos team loses the SEC Championship and gets bounced while another team sneaks in behind them. Madness all over the place in the first year of the 12-team Playoff! We also hand out Big Shot of the Week to an Atlanta man who saved a stranger from a burning home, and wrap up the week with a spin on Shaq’s game show called Lucky 7!

This week’s show is presented by Manscaped and Uncommon Goods!!

Get the Chairman Pro Package today and experience a shave that is as smooth as you deserve. Ep 72Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 72 – I Got Five On It
bonus
On this week’s bonus show, we get right into the NBA, as Rob breaks down the most recent MVP ladder… and he and B-Dog try to guess the Top 10. We also talk about the college player who cup-checked a shooter in the corner, and ask Rob what players did to try to interfere with his shot. An to almost no one’s surprise, Jerry Jones continues to suck, as we talk about his reluctance to hang curtains and how Rob’s boy CeeDee Lamb continues to have issues with the offense. And could Deion Sanders be the hire if the Cowboys decide to fire Mike McCarthy?

Rob and B-Dog also both loved the Texans all-red look on Sunday night even though the helmets look like they had Soul Glo on them! And as we look ahead to the college football weekend, we talk about the chaos in the playoff right now after all these big losses, and how the 12-team playoff is really paying off in its first year. We also have to have a serious discussion about Lamar Odom’s sex doll escapades with his new Khloe Kardashian sex doll, including conversation Rob and his wife had about it earlier in the week.

Finally with Warner Brothers selling 10 fully functional Batmobiles from the Christopher Nolan movies, we ask Rob what fictional car would he would want to own. Answers range from the A-Team van, Speed Buggy and the DeLorean from Back to the Future… which Rob would NOT fit into.

Ep 188Big Shot Bob – Ep 188 – The Skinny Committee

We open the show this week with Rob’s stories about Bobbleheads that do NOT look like him, after his wife confused his bobblehead for Tony Parker, and how he often gets mistaken for Alonzo Mourning and Horace Grant when out in public at times. It takes us down a wild road about NBA bobbles and statues that don’t look anything like the guys they are modeled after, specifically the tribute to Shaq’s LA statue.

Rob gets into the D-Lo situation with the Lakers, and why JJ decided to bench him, and why he immediately started performing better coming off the bench. We also dive into the rumors that DeAngelo will be used to make a move for another big like Brooke Lopez, and Rob says that as long as AD is healthy he doesn’t think the Lakers need another big. And we try to figure out why AD continues to shy away from wearing goggles, after getting popped in the eye the other night.

Plus the Giannis versus Jaylen Brown saga this week was confusing to us, as Giannis said he doesn’t want to be anyone’s friend but then plays games with guys on the court and is somehow surprised that guys don’t find that cute. B-Dog also lays out the trade scenarios for Dame Lillard to go to the Lakers, which would be so lopsided it would be comical. And the Cavaliers are showing the league just how talented they are, from Donovan Mitchell, to Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, they are deep and talented and play great defense… all leading to an impressive, unbeaten start to the season. Plus the conversation about Chet Holmgren’s injury leads into Victor Wembanyama – “the Skinny Committee” – and whether guys who don’t carry much weight can still be offensive dominators in the NBA.

There is SO much great audio this week, including a check-in on the Draymond Green technical counter, audio from the cockpit during the Auburn basketball team fight that forced the plane to turn around this weekend, the hilarious and amazing Michelle Beadle Nuggets flub, and Pat McAfee leading the wild LSU fans into cursing on live TV! And the audio of Saints coach Darren Rizzi saying he clogged the toilet in the coach’s office on his first day takes us into a conversation about clogging the toilet at other people’s homes. We also give out a Big Shot of the Week to a Texas firefighter who pulled a toddler out of the second story window of a burning building, and play a classic round of Shot Clock that, as always, ends in controversy.

Ep 71Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 71 – I’d Bet Rob’s House On It
bonus
The bonus show opens with some great questions from Big Shot listeners, including Dean who wants to know who our Play-In teams will be based on the picks we made last week. Rob rolls with the Bucks and Sixers in the East, and the Nuggets and the Kings in the West… Jenners has the Sixers and Heat in the East, and Dallas and the Suns in the West… and B-Dog goes with the Lakers and Dallas in the West, and the Hawks and the Nets in the East.

Plus Michael Porter Jr said this week that if the Nuggets don’t win this year that they might have to break up that team, and a look at everyone’s contracts proves that otherwise. But Rob feels like they need to focus on getting the bench pieces back that they lost in order to turn it around. And after impressive starts, listeners what to know who Rob thinks will have a bigger impact on their team this season, Buddy Hield or Sabonis? And Rob is rolling with Buddy because he’s basically become the new splash brother. Rob also agrees with Baron Davis’s assessment that a Doc Rivers team is a “beatable team” and says they may need to blow up the Bucks entirely.

There was also a weird streak that came to light this week, where the Houston Rockets haven’t beat the Golden State Warriors since February of 2020! That led us to ask Rob about teams he could not find a way to beat, and he says his Houston team couldn’t beat the Sonics because of their iconic lineup. And finally we all tech the higher or lower bet that Draymond laid out, saying he’d get less than 10 techs this season.

This week’s show is presented by UncommonGoods.com! Ep 187Big Shot Bob – Ep 187 – You Need a Cochlear Implant

Rob joins us live from Napa Valley as he’s travelling again this week, but jumps right into the outstanding play of Anthony Davis so far this season and where he thinks the Lakers need to tighten up. For Rob that’s mostly due a young coach in JJ having no faith in his bench, but he needs to get a hold of that for the Lakers to make a deep run. We’re also surprised at how good the Cavs have been out of the gate, but Rob warns Donovan Mitchell to remember to let his teammates help and not put it all on his shoulders. Plus Jayson Tatum talks about being passed over by the Lakers in the 2017 Draft, and Rob says he understands why that happened because they needed a guard. His surprise came more from them passing on DeAaron Fox and taking Lonzo Ball.

There are also some sinking ships that need to be discussed early on – and we start with the 1-6 Milwaukee Bucks, who have not looked cohesive to start this season, even though Giannis and Dame have both played well. And with losses like this come the rumors that Giannis is going to ask for a trade out of Milwaukee, so we play some “what if” scenarios with teams like the Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls. That also leads us into the Philadelphia 76ers who are also only carrying one win into the third week of the season, and everyone on the show feels like the Sixers live and die with Embiid, and with him sitting out it will get worse before it gets better.

We also have beefs to get into this week! We start with Kevin Durant vs Stephen A Smith, which is hard for us to understand due to Stephen A’s platform and reach – and Rob feels like KD is way too sensitive for a guy who wants to be the star of his team. The other beef of the week went down between DeMar DeRozan, who was happy to honor Vince Carter during his number retirement, and Drake who of course got himself into the middle of something again. And Jenners brings up the Miami Heat who hoisted a banner in honor of Bam Adebayo becoming a US Gold Medalist, and that sets everyone off on legacy recognition.

We wrap it up with the funniest poster of the week, which went down in the Baylor-Gonzaga game – Rob shares that the kid that got dunked into the Earth was the coach’s son, which makes it that much funnier! Plus a really amazing Big Shot of the Week to a family in North Carolina who is sacrificing their business to help their community – and a truly hilarious round of Rapid Fire to close out the show!

This week’s show is presented by UncommonGoods.com! Spark something uncommon this holiday with just the right gift from Uncommon Goods. To get 15% off your next gift, go to UNCOMMON GOODS dot com slash BIGSHOTBOB. Ep 70Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 70 – That Diva Robert Horry
bonus
After an Iowa Track & Field star clocked a 4.12 40 during halftime of the Hawkeyes game, it leads us to open the show with Robert Horry’s second homework assignment of the week. He wanted to know what athletes could excel in other sports – and Jenners asks about NBA players specifically who we think could play in the NFL. Names like LeBron and Ant of course pop up, but Rob goes with the obvious picks of Charlie Ward and Jalen Suggs, who both played college football.

As the season unfolds, Rob also wants to know what Wemby can do to put on weight before we get too far in, especially after that video surfaced this week of Stephen Adams backing him down in the post and there was nothing Wemby could do to stop him. Plus after Anthony Richardson checked himself out of the Colts game, it reminds Rob of the time he pulled himself out of a game, but not because he was tired but because he was mad at Latrell Sprewell. Listeners also want to know what Rob thought about Chris Paul taking a swing at Dillon Brooks in the scrum this week, and Rob says that if you wanted to fight a guy in his day you just did it, or met at center court like Kobe and Reggie Miller.

We have even more listener questions on the table, including – Are the Magic poised for a breakout season? Is Russell Westbrook cooked, or just in the wrong system in Denver as Rob suggests? We dive into that, and acknowledge the NBA Halloween costume of the year… which goes to the guy who dressed up like Manu Ginobili and his girlfriend who dressed up as the bat he swatted out of the air during a game!

Ep 186Big Shot Bob – Ep 186 – Laurence Fishburne Passing a Kidney Stone

Rob is live from Houston as the Rockets celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1994-95 NBA Championship, which breaks into a conversation about what teams are beholden to their last championship and need to find a way past it. And of course we open with the wild conversation about the Dwyane Wade statue – as we all think it was really bad, but it appears that Wade had a hand in approving it before it was unveiled. We love that D-Wade got his statue, and Rob jokes that he ever were to get one he would want to make sure it looks exactly like him.

Plus the Lakers have come out of the gates strong, winners of three of their first four games, and Rob is happy with the system he’s seeing so far from LA. JJ is now the front runner to win Coach of the Year which is a hilarious “way too early” prediction for Harper. Rob likes the limited look of plays that the Lakers have rolled out, which is keeping the offense simple. Joel Embiid also got T’d up even though he hasn’t played a game yet this season, due to “left knee management”, which scares everyone about how the Sixers season will play out if he remains on the bench. Jenners also has a wild NBA stat about Ben Simmons that further infuriates the show.

Everyone on the show rolls out their homework for Rob, which was to lay out the six teams from the East and the West that will make the Playoffs this season… and of course everyone’s opinions waver wildly, with a few exceptions. We also touch on the Indiana Fever parting ways with Christie Sides, the WILD end of the OKC-New Orleans game with two buzzer-beater threes, and the total meltdown from the Washington Commanders radio booth after last week’s Hail Mary to win the game. Plus an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a woman in LA who saved a young girl’s life, and a round of “Build me a Statue” as a salute to D-Wade’s wild one that was unveiled this week.

Ep 69Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 69 – Lick My Shoes Robert Horry
bonus
We open the bonus show this week with ESPN’s ranking of the Top 25 players in the NBA as we tip off the season… and Rob is already knee-deep in controversy for not putting Luca Doncic in his Top 10 this week. Plus we see if Rob and B-Dog can guess the Top 10 without seeing the list, and they struggle with one superstar who could be in the MVP conversation this year. We also ask Rob… could the Rockets will be good this year? Rob really likes their young core, but somehow uses this topic as a chance to slaughter the hopes of Hawks fans for some reason by saying their first round pick Zaccharie Risacher is going to be a bust.

Rob also wants to get into Victor Wembanyama saying that he liked a lot of guys in the league before he played, but his opinion of them has waned after seeing how little they put into their game… and Rob asks him to pump the brakes on judging other people’s game prep as he’s just a sophomore in the league. And could Anthony Edwards really leave the NBA to go play football after winning a ring? Rob thinks the skills don’t translate the same way and there are physical aspects that you don’t take into account.

After Aaron Rodgers got caught picking his nose on Sunday Night Football, we discuss the most embarrassing things that have happened to us – Rob says it was when his pants fell down on an NBA Sideline, and Jenners getting spit-shamed in the grocery store for licking his fingers to open a bag. And the curious case of Texas throwing enough trash on the field to get the officials to pick up a flag really sets a bad precedent for College Football. And we close with Tyrese Haliburton… posting a congratulatory video at 4am to 50 Cent after seeing him in Vegas… with three white women in the background that he brought home from the show. We ask Rob about the last thing he posted online that his wife asked him to take down… and it was a picture with a porno star in Vegas!

This week’s episode is presented by Draft Kings! Ep 185Big Shot Bob – Ep 185 – The Last White Man in Detroit

The NBA season tips off TONIGHT! And Rob is back to work at Spectrum – not for the home opener – but he will be in the building for the Timberwolves and Lakers as they tip off the season. We take a look around the league at the get-in prices for the NBA home openers, and the Celtics and Knicks at the Garden leads the way with the most expensive ticket which makes sense to Rob who is now more optimistic about the Knicks. And everyone struggles to guess the lowest ticket to get in the door, which was the Bulls.

Rob was also surprised to hear Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve go OFF on the WNBA officiating, because while she was right but that’s not something you say in front of the media. And we gauge Rob’s excitement on the Lakers rookies, as “Westside Knecht” had a monster game (even though it meant Rob had to work an extra half hour) and Bronny finally showed up for the dance.

And we run off a huge round of NBA Hot Takes as the season gets underway, and it start with Kendrick Perkins saying Kawhi Leonard should consider retiring, even though he’s owed $150M over the next three season… but Rob is doubting his passion for the game. We also take the under on Ben Simmons games played at 44.5, how Luca and Kyrie could not be the greatest backcourt in NBA history because they don’t play defense, Darius Garland feeling like he was “turned on” and how Wembanyama might be special but needs to slow down on criticizing how other guys get ready for the season. Plus everyone goes over on OKC winning 50 games this year, and what to expect in Philly if Joel Embiid misses half the season.

We find out if Rob has plans to go to the World Series in LA, B-Dog has something to say to Cleveland fans after the Deshaun Watson injury, and we offer up a Big Shot of the Week to two middle school girls who got a proper burial for a lost veteran who was buried without a headstone. And to honor the return of the NBA season, we play an NBA Players edition of Black Crime or White Crime!

This week’s episode is presented by Draft Kings! Ep 68Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 68 – Look at the Baby
bonus
Listeners want to know if Zach LaVine is back for the Bulls after a monster preseason performance, but Rob doesn’t have any for Zach because it all depends on his health. Plus a question comes to the show on whether the Bulls should retire Derrick Rose’s number, and what it takes to reach that achievement, because none of us think he’s done enough to have his number retired. We also joke about how Lethal Shooter finally got an amazing picture with Michael Jordan that was out of focus and how he made the mistake of turning to the Internet to fix it. Plus Embiid said this week that he’s done playing back-to-backs, but Rob doesn’t like it because it comes with the territory when you signed your contract. Another listener question to Rob is about the Ball kids, on whether or not they got a fair shake due to their dad, and Rob says they’ve done just fine if they can stay healthy. And we wrap with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni using his kids as a shield at a post-game press conference and Rob says that should only be allowed after you win a title in your respective sport.

Ep 184Big Shot Bob - Ep 184 - Where's the Baby Oil?

Rob is in Vegas for the Lakers and Warriors, doing an event with Rob Pelinka, and gets right into the rumors about the Lakers hunting for a center and wonders what teams even have an impactful center today. Rob also crossed paths with Draymond Green and talks about how well they got along, and Rob was surprised how short he was when they met. And while we’re on the Lakers, we try to figure out how JJ and Rob can sell Bronny to the fanbase if he continues to underperform in the preseason. Rob and B-Dog both try to convince Jenners that it isn’t about basketball, it’s about the story of playing with his dad, and that doesn’t sit right with people who care about wins and losses and not storylines. Kwame Brown also weights in on the Bronny situation and makes some very strong points from a basketball perspective. We also discuss JB Bickerstaff’s new “no hoodies and jewelry” approach to practice and we agree with it so much that it makes us feel like old men. Mike Malone also enters the conversation after calling his guys “soft” as they come into the preseason, which takes us down a road of figuring out if the Nuggets are “stuck” as some have suggested. Everyone also has some congratulations for the inductees into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and Rob thinks the Liberty are going to win the WNBA Finals amidst record ratings for that series. Rob also made an appearance at the NLDS for his close friend Jack Flaherty, who pitched lights out in Game 1 of the Championship Series. And audio of the week comes in from Cam Newton cracking on Shannon Sharpe on First Take, the over-the-top portrayal of Rob Gronkowski on the Aaron Hernandez FX show, and Jerry Jones threatening to have a radio host fired after he asked about the poor offseason decisions he’s made. The Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis gets a Big Shot of the Week for standing up for an abandoned dog who was tied to a post during the hurricane – and we close it out with a hilarious round of “Who He Coach For?”

Ep 67Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 67 – A Robert Horry Autographed Baseball
bonus
We open this week’s bonus show with one of the wilder basketball card stories we’ve ever heard! In the wake of the Menendez brothers show on Netflix, it has surfaced that both brothers were photographed in the background of a Mark Jackson 1990-91 NBA Hoops card and people are asking them to sign it. It stems into a conversation about the strangest things Rob was asked to sign, and people even wanted him to sign baseballs which makes NO sense. Rob also gets his first look at the wild fight between two female fans happening in the background of KhaDarel Hodge’s celebration video after catching the game winning touchdown last Thursday night, taking us into stories about where we witnessed our favorite fights. Eminem having a grandchild made us all feel old, and we relate that to seeing other people from our youth get older that makes us feel old. Plus Rob offers up his thoughts on the young Rockets roster going into this season, and how he’s excited to see what they can put together. And we close out the show with the strange story of Rashee Rice’s mother being a porch pirate, and what was stolen from our homes by porch pirates.

Ep 183Big Shot Bob – Ep 183 – Who He Coach For?

With B-Dog running late as we start the big show, Rob jokes about how a Raisin truck wrecked and took him out one week on his way home, which seems like the most implausible excuse ever. Oh and basketball is BACK and Rob is already working back in the studio, and we get right into whether Bronny is ready for the show or not. We all seem to agree that he isn’t ready, Rob thinks he still gets the pass to play early in the season, and is hopeful that this push to get him to play with LeBron doesn’t set him back in his career development. Plus Rob weighs in on JJ’s interaction with the media regarding the questions about Rui, being combative like he was on First Take, and uses the opportunity to tell us how Rui will fit into the Lakers lineup this season. And it wouldn’t be a wild week of college football upsets if we didn’t dance on Rob’s grave after Alabama’s epic loss to Vanderbilt, and we have some laughs with the audio of Diego Pavia after the game and how much money he just made for himself. Pat Bev also chimes in on the “disrespect” for Doc Rivers which cracks Rob up, as the played for Phil Jackson in his prime and the comparison of Doc and Phil is wildly unwarranted. That also segues us into Pat’s take on Ben Simmons and how none of us have any expectations for him on the floor. And the early betting odds are out for who could win Coach of the Year… and we don’t even KNOW some of these guys, leading us to play an impromptu game of “Who He Coach For?” And we round out the show with discussion of Caitlin Clark winning Rookie of the Year, the heated rivalry between the Dodgers and Padres this week, a very cool Big Shot of the Week… and to honor Kirk Cousins doing his post-Thursday interview from the parking lot of a Waffle House, it’s another edition of Walmart or Waffle House!

Ep 66Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 66 – Shams Bombs
bonus
The bonus show kicks off this week with discussion of Joel Embiid, who reportedly lost 25-30 pounds over the summer. Listeners want to know if Rob likes his big men lean or muscular, and Rob feels like Embiid was heavy and needed to lose it. We also saw the official retirement of Derrick Rose this week, which spawns a conversation about guys we thought were going to be the next big thing and just never got there – and SO many great names come up. And with the passing of Pete Rose, as Jenners had several bad encounters with him, we ask about celebrities we had bad run-ins with. Woj also retired from ESPN this week and we want to know who Rob thinks should replace him, and if he ever worked with Woj in his time at ESPN. The Chicago White Sox finished the season with the worst record in MLB history and we discuss teams that are just hard to root for, including the Browns, Kings and especially the Clippers. And now that we are officially in October we see who on the show is a Halloween guy.

Ep 182Big Shot Bob – Ep 182 – A Salute to Consistency

We are back from a week off which we forgot to tell the audience about! Blame that one on Jenners who took his kid to Universal Studios, and we learned that Rob is terrified of roller coasters. Rob also updates us on his family in the Carolinas after dealing with all the flooding from Hurricane Helene, and thankfully they are all okay. Plus Rob landed himself in the news this week by saying he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, which leads us into a conversation about Pete Rose and whether MLB should lift his ban now that he’s passed on. That also brings us into the conversation about the loss of Dikembe Mutombo, one of the most iconic big men to ever play the game and an amazing ambassador for the NBA across the globe. And we have a ton of stuff to talk about on the heels of NBA Media Day, first and foremost being Draymond Green. Harper salutes him for refusing to take any accountability for suspensions and time missed, while Jenners really just wants SOME kind of accountability from him after everything he’s been through. Respect to the Milwaukee reporter who asked Dame about Gorilla shooting her shot as Rob jokes about how much fun Media Days can be. And the Knicks did a lot of squirming behind the mics because they couldn’t talk about the Karl Anthony-Towns trade, as Rob thinks Milwaukee made a HUGE mistake letting him go! Paul Pierce said this week that the Knicks won’t win a championship in his lifetime, and Rob is hesitant to agree, and the audio of Tom Brady cooking Baker Mayfield reminded us of Kobe Bryant. Georgia vs Alabama breaks into the show, which leads us to a funny Big Shot of the Week, and we close it out with another fun round of Bet On Yourself.

Ep 65Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 65 – Went Back for Seconds on the Horse
bonus
The bonus show is here, opening with a question about Dwyane Wade’s coming statue in Miami – as we ask Rob what player deserves a statue that doesn’t have one, and if he were ever to get a statue what it would look like. We also break down Kevin Durant’s “perfect starting lineup” and Rob disagrees with MOST of it. Plus Shaq said this week that Caitlin Clark needs to “wait her turn” and Rob immediately throws it back at Shaq who didn’t wait HIS turn, but also says there is nothing wrong with a young player taking over when they are playing well. Let’s just slow down the “how great they will be” conversation after just a year or two. Plus we ask Rob if the Sphere is the coolest venue in the country after that wild MMA walkout presentation during their last event. And we close it out with asking Rob about the strangest things he’s seen or eaten overseas with all his recent travels, which spins into a discussion about eating chicken feet, frogs legs, and Rob’s HILARIOUS story about eating horse before he knew it was horse!

This week’s show is presented by our great friends at Factor Meals! Ep 181Big Shot Bob – Ep 181 – It Sho Is Good

Rob opens the show this week live from Manila in the Philippines, as he is traveling for another NBA event and repping American hoops overseas. And Harper comes in on a high after the Falcons beat the Eagles in Philadelphia on Monday night! We also jump into Steve Kerr’s comments about how much Boston fans are going to come for him this season after the Jayson Tatum drama at the Olympics, and Rob feels like opposing players will feed off that energy more than the home team so they can shut them up. That also gets into the story about Derrick White getting into a fight at the Colorado-Colorado State game this past weekend. And speaking of coaches, Kerr came in at #2 on the CBS Sports list of best NBA coaches, with Spoelstra coming in at #1, and JJ Redick finishing dead last – with Rob feels is justified because he has ZERO coaching experience. Rob also has a lot of love for A’ja Wilson after she shattered the WNBA single season scoring record, and how happy he is to have more eyes on the league now. And we wonder why the Brooklyn Nets are the betting leader to land Jimmy Butler when they are hanging their hats on Ben Simmons, and where Jimmy would better fit instead. Audio of the Week comes to us from the Shannon Sharpe Instagram sex mishap and how Ochocinco responded on their podcast! The NFL and college football topics this week go from Tua’s future, the worst officiating calls of the week, the Arch Manning hype and the futures of Billy Napier at Florida and Mike Norvell at FSU. Big Shot of the Week goes to the Chicopee, MA Police Department for helping build bridges with the kids in their community

This week’s show is presented by our great friends at Factor Meals! Ep 64Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 64 - Matching Onesies for Christmas
bonus
Rob opens the show with a Happy Birthday to his wife Candace, even though they didn't go dancing this year, which was an annual birthday tradition. And we dive right into listener questions about Rudy Gobert training with MMA fighters, and the wild idea that he continues to get Defensive Player of the Year Awards even though he's a defensive liability when it matters most. We also ask Rob if the Bulls and Zach LeVine can repair their relationship after the active work the team did to trade him. Plus, after Steve Mariucci showed up on NFL Network with a cast he had from when he was four years old (he's 64 now) we all offer up the strangest things we have from our childhoods... and Rob's is a classic! Rob also thinks that Deion Sanders will last three or four more seasons at Colorado despite all the drama surrounding him and the program at the start of the season. Finally with the release of the Thomas Froot Loop Bagels, we talk about some of the nastiest food we would eat as kids including ketchup on eggs, salted watermelon, peanuts in Coke, and for some reason Rob stuffing peppermints into squished up oranges.

Thanks to DRAFT KINGS for sponsoring this episode of Big Shot Bob! Ep 180Big Shot Bob – Ep 180 – Says The Man on an NBA Podcast

Rob had a rough experience at a rental place with some dated furniture and no A/C, which got us all thinking about the things that remind us of our childhoods… everything from cars with no seatbelts to plastic on the furniture! And we immediately dive into one of the biggest stories of the week after Tyreek Hill got detained before the Dolphins game, including the crazy audio from the police body cam. Rob feels like both sides were at fault and how he advises his family to always comply with the police in the moment and deal with the fallout later, because you never know when an angry cop can make a situation a lot worse. And on the heels of the Tyreek incident we make our picks for this week’s Draft Kings Pick Six on the Dolphins-Bills game. We also touch on this ridiculous storyline from Windhorst about whether or not JJ Redick “believes” in Austin Reaves – and Rob says he believes in him coming off the bench and doing the job he was paid for, and how this is a typical BS offseason storyline. Plus there’s some audio of the big fella out there this week, as Shaq appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and said he doesn’t view Wemby as a “dominant” player. Rob agrees on the terms that you define dominance as guys who play with physical force, and it’s unfair to compare a guy like Wemby to Shaq. And some crazy audio from Angel Reese as she comes out on her show and talks about some of the wild hate that she’s received. There’s a lot to talk about from this wild NFL opening weekend, including Giants fans burning Daniel Jones jerseys after one week, the huge Raiders-Chargers fights, and everyone’s take on the announcement of Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl Halftime performer. And of course some of the college football fallout from Notre Dame to Michigan, and the Governor of New Hampshire gets the Big Shot of the Week for a wild reason! And we close it out with another classic match-up of Rapid Fire.

Thanks to DRAFT KINGS for sponsoring this episode of Big Shot Bob!
