Ep 179Big Shot Bob – Ep 179 – You Go Where He Goes

It’s a weird start to the show this week as everyone seems to be having some sort of insurance issue – which goes to prove that anyone from radio guys to former NBA stars, all have to deal with the same tiny issues in life. Of course we need to know if Rob thinks the Clippers stabbed Paul George in the back, as his father claimed this week… and Rob says NO it’s always just business, but the Clippers definitely screwed up this situation! And with our friends from Draft Kings coming back to the show this week, Rob gets in deep with his fantasy football competition this year and how he’s approaching it. Plus the news about the Philadelphia 76ers saying they are “seriously considering” moving to New Jersey is just a negotiation ploy to put some pressure on the city of Philadelphia to get a new stadium deal done. And with Steph signing his monster one-year extension, Rob says it sets him up for the end of his career in Golden State. Speaking of big paychecks, Shaq thinks the WNBA women should be paid what the men are getting – and while we love Shaq, and agree with that sentiment, he of all people knows that the WNBA isn’t there financially yet. And props to Angel Reese for breaking the WNBA single season rebound record. Plus some great college football audio from Brian Kelly, a random rant from Mike Gundy, and Rob’s good friend Dabo Swinney checked in with him after that tough loss to Georgia to say they are going to right the ship. There’s also an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a brother who came through for his sister on a DIY – something Rob refuses to do anymore because he has money – and another hilarious installation of “Walmart or Waffle House”!

Thanks to DRAFT KINGS for sponsoring this episode of Big Shot Bob! Ep 62Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 62 – Amazon Sent Me G-League Games
bonus
We open the bonus show by gauging Rob’s excitement and trepidation as the Crimson Tide kick off their first college football season without Nick Saban in a long time, and Rob is remaining optimistic about their playoff chances. And as the NBA asks to have the Warner Brothers Discovery lawsuit to be thrown out, B-Dog feels like this is a long play for younger viewers because so few people have traditional cable packages anymore. We also get Chet Holmgren’s “welcome to the NBA moment” and Rob reveals that his was not getting a call after getting a hard foul, and the ref looking at him like a little kid for even looking for the foul. He also shares an AMAZING story about sharing the court with Michael Jordan and how he was well aware that he was getting calls that others weren’t. Plus after Adam Sandler was seen hooping in a local NYC neighborhood, we ask Rob about his favorite celebrities to hoop with. And did you see the Six Flags Mexico ride that got stuck 250 feet in the air in the middle of a nasty storm?? It gets us into the conversation about Robert Horry and roller coasters. Plus we put the guys to the test and see if they can dial up the Top 20 rated players in the new NBA 2K25.

Special thanks to FACTOR MEALS for sponsoring this week’s show!! Ep 178Big Shot Bob – Ep 178 – See Ya At The Car

We are BACK from our break – after taking a week off for Rob’s 54th birthday (where he restaurant hopped and drank too much), and Rob’s NBA trip to China for youth basketball camps. We get all the recaps of Rob’s escapades, before we dive into the insane rumor of the week, that the Lakers are already angling for a way to get Luka Doncic after LeBron hangs it up. And Rob and B-Dog both agree that this will never happen. Plus we get into the drama surrounding Anthony Edwards after he said Jordan was the only guy “back in the day” who had any skill, as Magic Johnson responded live on stage, and Rob says it’s the ignorance of youth who never got to see those guys play. Kevin Garnett also rocked the NBA boat this week by saying Giannis was the 4th best player in the East – even though he could only come up with two guys who are better – and Rob asks who we would roll with when fully healthy. Angel Reese just scored herself a new podcast and a partnership with Reese’s, which continues to showcase the main stream rise of the WNBA! And Sheryl Swoops got into it with Stephen A Smith over the women’s league this week, which continues to show how relevant the WNBA conversation is in sports today. College Football season is also back, and we couldn’t help but dive into the Deion Sanders story, as he had a reporter banned from asking questions, and Harper feels like Deion needs to leave Colorado to redeem a bigger program to get his clout back. Plus an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a Kentucky teacher with a huge heart, and a fun round “That’s Some BS”, College Football edition!

Special thanks to FACTOR MEALS for sponsoring this week’s show!! Ep 61Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around 61 - Stormed into LeBron's Office
bonus
We open the bonus show this week with audio of Stephen Adams - who appeared on a podcast this week and admitted he claimed to not speak English to avoid Kevin Garnett's trash talk. Rob talks about getting into it with KG on the floor but it was actually Charles Barkley who talked the most trash to him. Plus with Nike releasing Michael Jordan's eye-popping earnings from 2023, we ask Rob about missed investment opportunities, and Rob admits he had the chance to get in on the ground floor for Under Armor and Home Depot and missed out! Donovan Mitchell said this week that Stephen A's critique of his game is what motivated him, and Rob had a similar encounter with the legend Dick Vitale. And was Rob ever as unqualified as the Olympic break dancer that went super viral this week? He says his first times on TV were the only times he felt uneasy about doing something in sports. And with Cee Dee Lamb being a friend of Rob's family, we pick his brain about where that young man stands with his holdout, and how Dallas has fumbled this process with a few of its biggest stars. Finally a weird southern moment on the Tennessee Titans broadcast puts Rob's southern vernacular to the test, and we wonder how good will Spaceball 2 be now that it's announced.

Ep 177Big Shot Bob – Ep 177 – Let Me Get One Spaghetto

We open a huge show this week with Rob having missed all the closing ceremonies, the idea of renting his house out for the Olympics in LA, and how he was taunting us from the front row of a Dodgers game last week. And of course we get into a huge breakdown of Team uSA, who won the gold but not without a lot of drama. Rob sounds off on the leaded audio of LeBron calling out Steve Kerr in the locker room, and agrees that on both the men’s team and women’s team there was a lot of bias from coaches who were playing the players they know. And Rob challenges the idea that only NBA coaches should be coaching Team USA, but if it has to be an NBA coach then it should be someone who doesn’t have any of their own players on the team. Recapping the gold medal game was easy, as we just relive Steph’s amazing daggers against France to bring it home. And amongst all that drama, B-Dog feels like LeBron is still the leader of that team… but Rob says it isn’t enough to be a leader on the floor, it has to count in the locker room too. But it didn’t mean much to Steve Kerr, who was anxious to throw flowers at the GOAT’s feet, even though LeBron was undermining him to the entire team. And we put the wraps on the Olympics by debating who the next group of guys are to pick up the mantle of Team USA. In NBA news, the Christmas Day games were announced – some great, some just okay – and how the NFL is coming for the NBA’s Christmas Day tradition. Giannis feels some sort of way about the Christmas schedule, as the Bucks weren’t included, and Rob is really in “show me” mode with that team now because they are always hurt. Plus Noah Lyles had a week, after he won the gold, then got Covid, then went clubbing, and finally having an article drop about how disrespected he felt to be invited to Anthony Edwards Adidas event. That even spurred the Cheetah, Tyreek Hill, who went from wanting to support him, to wanting to race him and beat him. Preseason football brings us the new kickoff rule, and with the Carolina Panthers plane sliding off the runway, Rob recounts a college plane flight where they all thought they were going to die. Finally the Big Shot of the Week to Magic guard Cole Anthony for giving back to his community, and very funny and odd round of a new game called Bet On Yourself.

Ep 60Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 60 – Off The Record
bonus
We open the bonus show with some of the hilarious Connor Stallions texts to Michigan staffers, just for a laugh, and getting B-Dog to read them with sexy music is all the better! Plus we dive into Snoop Dogg’s format attire at the Olympics, and how Rob owns a LOT of tuxedos and suits, while Jenners doesn’t even own one. And after a French pole vaulter knocked off the crossbar with his junk, we ask Rob about his most embarrassing moments on the court. We also get into the news that Charles Barkley is continuing with Turner beyond them losing the NBA, where we see Deandre Ayton landing if he gets moved from Portland, and the Ice Cube Big3 challenge to the Olympians who win the 3x3 Basketball Event. And we close with SPOILERS about Deadpool & Wolverine and how much we loved getting to see so many of the characters they rolled out in this film.

Ep 176Big Shot Bob – Ep 176 – Cookies and a Colonoscopy

We have lots more Team USA Basketball to talk about as we roll into the final week of Olympic play, and Rob is getting tired of Steve Kerr manipulating the starting line-up so much. He feels like you should be able to fine tune your best line-up and go dominate teams and show them you aren’t scared of match-ups. And when you have guys who are respectively the best players on their teams, they need to learn to check their ego and roll with the game plan so we can bring home gold for the USA. We also talk about just how close that 100M men’s race really was, Rob’s thoughts on Devin Booker saying that winning Olympic Gold is easier than winning an NBA title, and how beautiful the new Kobe and Gianna statue is in the pictures and how it hit us personally. Plus Rob sounds off on Draymond Green dressing down high school players for crying about fouls, when all he (and other NBA players) do the same thing on national television every night. And everyone has feelings about Chris Canty saying that LeBron would never command the respect from other pro players that Michael Jordan gets from generations of guys. We give out a big “party in the back” Big Shot of the Week, and play another hilarious round of Shootout.

Ep 59Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 59 – Excited to Meet the Hulk
bonus
Right out the gate we jump into Snoop Dogg calling Badminton at the Summer Olympics in Paris, and everyone feels like we need to hear him do a full quarter of a Lakers game! Plus Shaq made some noise this week by trolling Rudy Gobert, and everyone feels like he’s set everyone up to pick on him by performing so poorly after his Defensive Player of the Year award. And everyone on the show loses it with laughter after Frank the Tank’s epic and utter meltdown over the Mets and Sal Licata in the audio of the week! Plus after a Red Sox fans drops a ball over the Green Monster and embarrasses his wife on national television, we talk to Rob about the last time he embarrassed his wife in public… and he says when he got hammered at his birthday party. And we close out with some superhero talk after Deadpool & Wolverine killed it at the box office, because Rob is a little upset by the new Dr. Doom casting announcement.

Ep 175Big Shot Bob - Ep 175 - You Need Your Butt

We open this week’s show on the Summer Olympics, with Rob watching a lot of fencing, volleyball and of course hoops. We immediately dive into the story of the week surrounding Jayson Tatum’s lack of playing time in Game 1, and while Harper thinks it’s a non-story, Rob disagrees because Derrick White got minutes and he’s not even better than Tatum on his own team. And Joel Embiid feels like he’s the most “hated player in the league” and Rob says he’s not even close to that, and the pressure will continue to mount on him until he gets a title to Philadelphia. But Rob does not feel he’s overrated, as some have said this week, but he does feel like we’re all looking past Milwaukee in the East which makes Philly’s road to the Finals that much harder. And none of us like the TNT lawsuit against the NBA, but we also understand why the NBA folded to tech company money over Warner Brothers Discovery’s traditional broadcast money. Plus we touch on Zack LaVine staying in Chicago, the Paul Pierce vs Durant debate that Keyshawn Johnson spawned on Undisputed, and how Durant got into a scrap with everyone on Twitter over that debate. We also dish out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to the young man who helped save his family during the Oklahoma tornados, and play a hilarious Olympics-themed version of Who’s Bigger!

Ep 58Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 58 – The Chlorine Will Kill It
bonus
We tip off the bonus show this week by talking about Kobe’s old locker from Staples Center going up for auction, as it could go for upwards of $1 million. Rob lets us know that Kobe and Shaq actually had TWO lockers because the lockers were small, and Rob says it was Portland that started the trend of bigger fancy lockers and recalls Denver had the fanciest locker room in his day. Plus Rob weighs in on Landon Miller – the son of OSU alumni Braxton Miller – getting offered a scholarship from FAU at 11 years old, and says the extent of his early recruitment was a bus trip to Kentucky for a small school called Cumberland College. The Suns and Celtics will actually have luxury tax bills in 25-26 that are higher than their actually team salary owed, and Rob feels like Boston can swing it but the Suns really can’t. And we are all in shock about the voodoo of Nick Castellanos hitting a home run during every major world event and wonder if this is worse than the Madden curse. And the Audio of the Week comes to us from an apartment resident who hilariously caught a couple having sex in the shared apartment pool!

Ep 174Big Shot Bob – Ep 174 – No Laces on a Basketball

We’re back in the regular routine this week – and we open the show with some talk about Team USA as the Olympics start this week. LeBron James gets the honor of carrying the flag for the USA during the Opening Ceremonies, and justly so as he’s been the best player on the floor for Team USA so far. And with LeBron and AD playing at this level, Rob tries to figure out why everyone is discounting the Lakers chances… and it all boils down to the surrounding cast of the Lakers. We also get into Evan Mobley’s HUGE deal in Cleveland, and Rob dissects what it’s going to take for that Cleveland line-up to take a step up and improve now that both Mobley and Spida are locked up. Plus Westbrook is on the move to Denver and Rob thinks it’s good fit, and probably his last shot at a title. But Rob wants to see Denver start replacing the talent they’ve lost, and Russ is just one piece to get them back to what they’re missing. Steve Ballmer’s halo board in the new Intuit Arena is AMAZING, but is that enough to lure talent to LA to play with Kawhi and Harden? We also go around on the state of New Jersey have NO CHANCE to steal the 76ers from Philly, how EA College Football 25 broke the bank, and Harper goes on a rant about how this is something every woman should get for his man to earn some brownie points. We discover that Rob loved to play Madden with Dabo Swinney in their college days, and Rob says he used to beat him all the time. There’s also some amazing audio of the week as Lane Kiffin burns Paul Finebaum down on his own show – and we debate how college football’s new conference alignment really screws over so many student athletes. Plus a Big Shot of the Week for a woman who got a sundae named after her at her favorite restaurant, from which we discover that there was a Robert Horry drink to be at PF Chang’s in LA. And it’s the return of Black Crime or White Crime!

Ep 173Big Shot Bob – Ep 173 – Give a Hoot, Don’t Take a Poop

We’re running a couple of days late this week, but we makeup for it with a huge show full of great topics! And we start with the post-credits scene from last week’s show, as Kawhi Leonard steps away from the Olympic team and Jaylen Brown gets the snub by Nike. Rob also offers up his opinion on the Bronny James narrative that has dominated the Summer League conversation, and says it’s important to remember that second round guys like Bronny are being evaluated for their potential, not that their current level – but Jenners disagrees, because he’s never have a shot at an NBA roster if his last name wasn’t James. We also debate if Jaylen Brunson leaving money on the table was the right move, because it largely depends on how management in New York handles using that money. And what kind of big could teams like New York and LA lure with the right coaching and situation? Paul Pierce taking credit for LeBron’s “next step” has Rob wondering why any player would take credit for another player’s hard work and talent – and how you can learn from a team of guys, but never just one guy. And how Barkley calling out the league for their new TV deal was spot on, whether John Wall deserves another shot in the league, how slanted Enes Kantor Freedom’s take is on LeBron James, and the destruction of Hard Rock Stadium by COPA America fans has us reminiscing about the craziest crowd we were ever a part of. We close it out with an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and a truly hilarious round of Rapid Fire!

Ep 56Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 56 - Right in the Hole
bonus
We open the bonus show this week with a great listener question, about which team made the best move in free agency. Rob says it was definitely Paul George to the Sixers, but B-Dog and Jenners both feel like you can't sleep on Dejounte Murray to the Pelicans. And speaking of the Sixers, with them bringing back the black jerseys from the Iverson days, we talk about our favorite throwback NBA jerseys... and the Magic pinstripes, 90's Hornets and old school Supersonics looks all make our list. Rob thinks this trend of "raw dogging" a flight by doing nothing at all is psychotic, he can't juggle like Wemby after video of him has gone viral, and how much Kevin Bacon hated being "a regular person" as Rob reflects on the few perks he gets from being well known. And with Futurama coming back again this month, we talk about the TV shows that we'd love to see another season of, including The Wire, Boondocks and the Sopranos.

Ep 172Big Shot Bob - Ep 172 - Cameroonian Traitor

As we approach the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris, we get heavy into the Team USA lineup and how Anthony Edwards has the big confidence going into the games. Rob also brings up the question about whether or not Joel Embiid should be on Team USA considering he's been a US citizen less than two years. Rob says he should NOT be on the team but is probably playing for the US, instead of Cameroon, because it's his best chance to win gold. And we argue extensively about who we believe should make up the starting five for Team USA. Paul George breaks down the circumstances that lead to him leaving the Clippers for Philly, and how disrespected he felt by the offers LA put on the table. Rob also feels like Philly was a better landing spot than Golden State, which is where PG almost landed in a sign-and-trade. Plus Steph finally spoke out about losing Klay, and we all believe that while Klay didn't get a heritage contract, Steph Curry would definitely get that deal to stay. We also ask Rob how disappointed he is in the Lakers free agency moves, and he says the Lakers are fine because no one ever wants to help them. And we debate if the Caleb Martin move is indicative of the Heat's decline, a shout out to Angel Reese for breaking a WNBA record, and a cool Big Shot of the Week to a 4th of July hero. Plus it's the return of Walmart or Waffle House!

Ep 55Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 55 – Call Him Drake
bonus
We open this week’s bonus show by reflecting on this year’s Bobby Bonilla Day – and talk about some of the other players around MLB, including Max Scherzer and Chris Davis, who are also getting BROKE OFF for not playing for teams around the league. And we’re asked to give an opinion on the Kyle Filipowski story, which Rob thinks teams are using as an excuse for not drafting a player they didn’t think was very good. Noah Vonleh is also all over social media as the Shanghai Sharks booted him from his hotel room, as Rob reflects about the worst experience he had with an employer… and to everyone’s surprise it’s the Lakers. And after Cubs pitcher Justin Steele flipped out in the Chicago Cubs dugout, we ask Rob who gave one of his teams the loudest and angriest talk during or after a game. Plus after the Gladiator trailer dropped we talk about movies and shows that everyone else loves… and our Mount Rushmore of NBA greats that have never won a title.

Ep 171Big Shot Bob – Ep 171 – Talk To Your Husband

It’s an ENORMOUS NBA show this week, as free agency and extensions have gone insane! We start with the story that had us confused all weekend, as the Lakers draft Bronny James with the 55th pick… and not because the Lakers drafted him, but because Rich Paul was calling teams telling them “don’t draft Bronny.” We get into the business decision of it all, and how Bronny doesn’t get his “draft moment” on stage, and it might hamper his growth as a player. But Rob is excited to see what he does for the Summer League. Of course we discuss Paul George signing with the Sixers, as people believe that Philly is the one team in the East to compete with Boston, and Rob says that solely rests on the health of those Big 3. We also get into Jayson Tatum’s record breaking deal, with his five-year $315M contract… and when you look at the money, the Celtics roster will be owed upwards of a BILLION dollars. And the Luxury Tax bill is also a record setter! And how about Klay Thompson turning down more money from the Lakers! Rob says he likely feels like Dallas has a better shot to win, and of course there’s no state tax! But was Klay owed a legacy contract from Golden State? Plus Donovan’s Mitchell big extension with the Cavs, KCP’s move to Orlando, Chris Paul to the Spurs, Dejounte Murray teaming with Zion Williamson in New Orleans, and the Nets continue to try and move on from Ben Simmons. And a Big Shot of the Week goes to the Dodgers ball boy who saved Shohei Ohtani’s life on a foul ball!

Ep 54Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 54 – I Can Read
bonus
The bonus show opens with the audio of Udonis Haslem saying the Heat are the biggest threat to the Celtics in the East, and Rob disagrees because he’s overlooking Milwaukee and Philly, as well as the future of Jimmy Butler in Miami. We also take a look at the game-changing amount of money that Stephen A Smith is asking of ESPN, and with Stephen A on the table we discuss his reaction to the Kelly Stafford admission that she dated Matt’s back-up at Georgia – and Rob did the same thing to a teammate! Plus we joke at the “Nuttin But Azz” tournament getting cancelled in New Jersey, the real impact of low prices at sporting events, and a UK cooking host that can’t say “microwave”.

Ep 170Big Shot Bob – Ep 170 – Living Under the 405

We go big with Robert Horry on the Lakers hiring JJ Redick, who brings no coaching experience to arguably one of the biggest coaching positions in the NBA. Rob has said previously he thought the hire wasn’t the best move for the Lakers, and says he thinks for the Lakers to find any success with this hire is to have some amazing and experienced coaches on his staff. We also debate whether those assistants are putting themselves in line for when JJ fails, how much the podcast with LeBron influenced this hire for the Lakers, and what truth there is to the concept that LeBron and JJ had no discussions about this job before it was offered. Monty Williams getting dismissed from the Pistons with 5 years left on his deal also hits the floor, and how surprised we are that the Lakers didn’t take a look at Monty before hiring JJ. Plus we dive into the Cavs hiring Kenny Atkinson over Borrego, the massive extension for Scottie Barnes in Toronto, the Caruso-Giddey trade being a steal for the Thunder, and all the strangeness headed into Wednesday’s NBA Draft. And somehow the Rockets are being presented as in “win now mode” which we’re not really seeing, and if they have the clout to lure another star to Houston. Finally a really dope Big Shot of the Week to a New Orleans reporter, and a game based on JJ called “First Timers”.

Ep 53Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 53 – LEGO Theft Ring
bonus
This week’s bonus show opens with a question about Mikal Bridges and his future in Brooklyn, after the Nets have reportedly turned down multiple trade offers that would have landed them a bunch of first round picks. Rob loves Bridges but reminds Brooklyn that they are in a full rebuild at this point and they should take anything they can get to build for the future. Listener questions this week include whether or not the NBA should start showing the introduction of the starting players on TV, and Rob says he didn’t even realize they don’t do it anymore because he used to love seeing them. And do the Lakers NEED to have a head coach by the Draft? Rob says maybe not this season but you always want a coach’s input on the picks you make for the future. We also debate if the New Orleans Pelicans should pay Brandon Ingram his $55 million a season extension, and dive into the wild LEGO theft ring in Rob’s neighborhood in Southern California.

Ep 169Big Shot Bob – Ep 169 – Don’t Say Dynasty

We kick off this week’s show fresh off the Celtics winning the NBA Championship, and Rob says Boston’s coaching and defensive effort is what got it done against Dallas. And despite a dominant season, Rob does NOT believe the Celtics will win it again, as he thinks that bigger teams from the West will break through and match up better against them then Dallas did. As for the Mavericks, Rob thinks this was a “one shining moment” for them, because teams like Denver and Minnesota will be back in the mix and will find a way to get better. We also discuss Jaylen Brown winning the Finals MVP, Doris Burke making history, and Joel Embiid saying that Boston is not the new dynasty in the NBA, because he will get healthy, and so will Milwaukee in the East alone. We also debate who teams like Philly and the Bucks can add to take that leap to eclipse Boston in the East. It’s also starting to look like Klay Thompson will hit free agency (if reports are to be believed) so Rob weighs in on where Klay would be the best fit. Plus with Charles Barkley announcing he’s retiring from television after next season, Rob believes it will change the landscape of sports television, especially NBA, because of his dynamic personality. Audio of the week is from Snoop Dogg who was in the booth for the Brewers and the Reds, and him calling baseball is electric! We also feature some classic audio from NBA history with Ron Artest shooting a huge three in the Lakers-Celtics finals 14 years ago, and a really inspiring Big Shot of the Week from a doctor in Africa. And it’s been 30 years this week since Rob was playing against the Knicks in the NBA Finals when the OJ chase broke out, which leads us to this week’s “Back to the Future” Price is Right game!

Ep 52Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 52 – Socks and Pocket Hankies
bonus
We open this week’s bonus show with a quick update on Kristaps Porzingis’s health as the NBA Finals roll on. Plus we get right into listener questions, as people want to know Rob’s thoughts about San Antonio possibly trading for Darius Garland to pair with Victor Wembenyama – and Rob loves that move if it indeed comes together. Scottie Barnes also offers relationship advice to streamers, saying to find a good girl at the Mall?! Who goes to the MALL anymore? We also talk about Father’s Day gifts and what Rob and Jenners prefer to do with that day, proving Jenners is acting way too old for his age. And with Darvin Ham back in Milwaukee on Doc’s staff, we break out the conspiracy theory that he’s getting set up to take Doc’s spot if this season doesn’t pan out. Rob also loved James Harden’s reaction to catching the bouquet at a wedding, and we all speak on the guys we know that will never get married. Plus the bull named Party Bus that got loose at an Oregon rodeo has Rob reminiscing about how GREAT the rodeos are in Texas, which we had no clue about. Finally, after the woman who lost the speed walking medal for celebrating too early, we ask Rob about times he got caught celebrating too early.

Ep 168Big Shot Bob – Ep 168 – Sloppy Seconds

We kick off the week in the midst of the NBA Finals, as Rob is headed to Bogota, Columbia for an NBA Finals viewing party. And we get deep into the first two games of the Finals, with Rob and Rob both nominating Jaylen Brown as the early MVP, and Harper says he’s not surprised by this series so far because Boston doing what they do best by suffocating the Mavericks. And we’re all waiting for either Luka or Kyrie to take over a game or two and extend the series. Rob also weighs in on Shaq’s comments that he wasn’t the best player on the Lakers during their title runs, as he disagrees with the big fella, saying he was both the best and most dominant player on the floor. Dan Hurley also shot down an offer to coach the Lakers this week, leading Rob to reaffirm that JJ is going to be the hire, as he does not think Borrego is a good coach. And Rob feels like Caitlin Clark needs to earn her stripes in the WNBA before expecting a spot on the Olympic team, because as he goes through the roster of all-time greats that are playing, she just doesn’t stack up yet. Plus some more Hall of Fame love from Rob from Rudy Tomjanovich, a really cool Big Shot of the Week, and Rob and Harper square off in a hilarious round of Shootout!

Ep 51Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 51 – I Hope They Aren’t That Dumb
bonus
Tracy McGrady says Steph Curry still has not cracked his Top 10 all time, so the debate ensues from the start of the bonus show about where (if at all) he’d fall on our lists. And after Luka got his beer poached in the WCF celebration, we ask Rob what those locker rooms are like after a big win… and Rob says there was NO celebration after winning the Conference Finals when he played, they just went home and started working on the next series. We also have an American Gladiators reboot coming to Prime, so we get into some of our favorite shows from our youth that we think deserve a reboot. Listeners want to know how much of the Olympics Rob will watch this summer, and which sports, plus did Rob ever go the celibacy route like Lenny Kravitz, and a look at Justin Jefferson’s record setting NFL contract has us taking a look at the deficiencies of other NFL teams. And the argument about who the best player in the league is between Jokic, Luka and Giannis.

Ep 167Big Shot Bob – Ep 167 – Momma Raised Them Right

This episode is sponsored by Better Help. Give online therapy a try at BetterHelp.com/BigShotBob and get on your way to being your best self.

Rob opens the show this week with his fatigue over the “who has more rings” debate, and how some of the best players in NBA history never won a ring but are still the best. We also joke about how long the Celtics and Mavericks have to sit around and wait for the NBA Finals to start. Rob says the down time benefits the Celtics as Porzingas gets healthy and hurts the Mavericks who’ve been on a roll. Rob and Jenners pick the Mavericks to win it all, while Harper is still on the fence. And of course we go head first into the raging WNBA debate, which is all about storylines – and how Rob feels like the Caitlin Clark “story” is starting to drag on the other players and frustrate them. Rob agrees with Matt Barnes in the fact that Caitlin’s teammates needs to watch over her, and how Caitlin also needs to learn not to take any grief from other players. And we break down the monstrous fallout from First Take’s WNBA meltdown, and how Rob feels like the media has grown so driven for story that it irritates the players and the league by harping on the same narratives. Rob also feels like the Lakers dragging out the coaching hire means that they’re waiting for JJ Redick to finish his NBA media season before hiring him as the new Lakers head coach. The Audio of the Week comes from the New Black Panther Party’s Brother Quanell X (who Rob knows) breaking down a controversy at a local elementary school, and 85-year-old high school graduate gets Big Shot of the Week, and another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime!

Ep 50Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 50 – Horry vs Armadillo
bonus
This week’s audio of the week leads off the Shoot Around as a Wheel of Fortune contest went viral for guessing “Right in the Butt” on a toss-up. That spirals us into our all-time favorite viral videos, from “Sum Ting Wong” to the bug-in-the-mouth reporter. We also get Rob’s inside take on the Lakers coaching search and why it’s taking so long to hire a new coach. Plus as Steph Curry and his wife welcome their fourth child, Rob and Jenners share experiences of our kids’ births. It was also wild to see Travis Kelce get booed at the Western Conference Finals, and we find out if Rob is excited for Bad Boys and other films that deserved a sequel. And after Dolphins linebacker Jaelen Phillips found an iguana in his toilet we joke about Rob’s run-ins with wildlife.

Ep 166Big Shot Bob – Ep 166 – Wolverine Bear

Just like we all predicted, we’re on the verge of TWO series sweeps, as the Celtics sweep the Pacers out of the Eastern Conference Finals and punch their ticket to the Finals. Rob has coaching questions about how the Pacers chose not to foul down the line, and how that played out in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. And with the Gobert mismatch in the WCF, B-Dog wants to know why they are so reluctant to move him to the bench. And Jenners would like everyone to slow down on the whole “best backcourt in NBA history” narrative surrounding Kyrie and Luka, because until they win a ring it’s a pretty invalid conversation. Rob wants to know if the league is freaking out at the possibility of having a solid week off between the end of the conference finals and the start of the Finals. We also reflect on the life of Bill Walton, friend of the show, and weigh in on Rich Paul saying LeBron was a free agent. We also look back on NBA history as just 22 years ago this week we had Robert Horry’s iconic “Big Shot” moment against the Kings, something he still gets chills about to this day. Plus an inspiring Big Shot of the Week and another classic round of Rapid Fire.

Ep 49Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 49 - Traditional White Guy Sports
bonus
We open the bonus show this week with a question on the minds of many Cleveland basketball fans... if you could choose, do you want to keep Darius Garland or Donovan Mitchell? We also debate the theory that an NBA team might draft Bronny as bait to get LeBron, and ask Rob what that would do for his future in the league if it didn't work out. Plus, with Happy Gilmore 2 getting the green light at Netflix, we ask who Adam Sandler should fight now that Bob Barker has passed. And after the Diddy video came out, a listener wants to know who the coolest celebs we've met, and who were the biggest a-holes. Mike Malone was SALTY after the Nuggets got eliminated, we get Rob's walkout song if he could choose one, and we discuss Tyler Hansbrough's newfound love of pickleball, and in turn what sport besides basketball Rob could challenge someone to and win. We close with Jelly Roll, who admitted he only wears a pair of socks ONCE and throws them out, so we ask Rob what his most frivolous celebrity purchase was - Rob's Ferrari, and his blinged out Rolex!

Ep 165Big Shot Bob – Ep 165 – If The Numbers Are Right

Here we go! Rob and the guys go deep into the Timberwolves pulling out a huge Game 7 victory in Denver, with amazing audio from Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony-Towns. Rob takes a look at all the things the Wolves did right, how impressive Ant Man is at such a young age, and how that compares to when he felt comfortable in the NBA. And after Dallas eliminated OKC, Rob and B-Dog both think they need to stay young and find some difference makers, as Rob hopes they are able to hold their core together this time and not let them get away like their original Big 3. We also go big on the Eastern Conference Finals, now that the Pacers did away with the Knicks. Rob believes that Boston is just built too well for this series, and breaks down what the Pacers can do to try and hold on against the most well-rested team in the Playoffs. Sam Cassell is in the mix for the Lakers head coaching position and Rob debates whether or not he’d take Sam up on an offer to join the Lakers coaching staff. Plus after the Scottie Scheffler arrest, Rob talks about times he’s had a run-in with the cops. And we break down the Harrison Butker kerfuffle, give out a dope Big Shot of the Week, and round it out with another classic round of Walmart or Waffle House.

Ep 48Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 48 – Now That’s a Foul
bonus
Reggie Miller made headlines this week and opens up our bonus show, as we debate who he was taking shots at when he talked about a “Mount Rushmore guy” who points fingers. We also try to figure out why the Knicks fans still hate Reggie 30 years later and where that comes from. A listener asks Rob what has happened to Jrue Holiday (after his lack of scoring the postseason) and after Malik Monk got a Rolex from a teammate we ask Rob what was the best gift he got from a teammate. We also learn that Rob is a really good poker player, and Rob lays down exactly how the Lakers would operate if he were to take the reins. And after Dana White got a FedEx driver fired on accident we find out that Rob might have gotten a waiter fired, plus Pat Bev’s suspension has us talking about how much Rob’s shove of Steve Nash really cost him.

Ep 164Big Shot Bob – Ep 164 – Don’t Ding Me

After Rob’s trip to Atlanta last week, we go over the stuff that happened while he was on the road – and how surprised some of us were that Jamal Murray didn’t get suspended for his heat-pad toss. It’s also wild to see the Timberwolves playing with way less effort and enthusiasm with Rudy Gobert in the line-up, proving to Rob and B-Dog that he should not have been Defensive Player of the Year. We also take a quick look at Shaq’s feud with Shannon Sharpe after it got super personal, and how we love the Big Fella but he needs to have thicker skin. The Knicks and Pacers series has been officiated very poorly according to Rob, and he knew it would happen because the Knicks are worn out and the league is doing them a favor. And as all good teams do, the Celtics held the Cavs off and it looks like curtains for Cleveland. Will JJ Redick be the next Lakers coach? Rob says would retire from Spectrum if he was, and compares it (though B-Dog feels unfairly) to Steve Nash’s time as the Nets head coach. Rob says he would definitely take the gig if it were offered to him, but only if he could pick his coaching staff, because he feels like that makes all the difference. Ultimately Ty Lue is the big winner, because he’ll get caught in a bidding war between the Lakers and Clippers. Plus the Hawks win the draft lottery in a year where there is no high profile talent on the board, because that’s Atlanta, we have some amazing audio of the week from Luka’s postgame press conference (where is sounds like someone was watching something dirty), offer up an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and play another fun round of Shot Clock!

Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 47 – Pregnant Bikini Contest
bonus
A really fun bonus show kicks off the weekend with the amazing Brady roast – which Tom Brady immediately regretted – Rob tells us the story about getting committed to judging a pregnant bikini contest. And after a member of the Padres AAA affiliate found out he was getting traded while standing on second base, we ask Rob where he was when he found out he got traded to the Suns for Charles Barkley. Plus did a new sandwich cutting style on the Internet change the game forever? Nope, because Rob is a crazy man who does not cut his sandwiches at all. We also talk about the unfortunate case of Lonzo Ball, who just picked up his huge option with the Bulls despite having not played for the last two years. We also nerd out by calling in our four favorite X-Men to save our butts in a fight, and dive into the WILD story about Vladimir Putin stealing Robert Kraft’s Super Bowl ring!

Ep 163Big Shot Bob – Ep 163 – Like Bin Laden Breaking Down Game Film

There is SO much to get into on this week’s show – and we start with the Timberwolves, as Minnesota shocks the world by taking the first two games in Denver… but not Robert Horry! Rob aw the flaws in the Denver bench during the Lakers series. And somehow the Timberwolves were better without Rudy Gobert, Trae Young saying Ant Man should have been an Atlanta Hawk, and whether Jamal Murray will get suspended for throwing the heat pad on the floor in Game 2. We throw some love to Josh Hart for his exceptional play as the Knicks take Game 1 against the Pacers, even though Rob is still rolling with the Pacers to win the series. And the Clippers burn Jenners again, as they dip out in the first round to the Mavericks and we deep dive into the money owed to that roster and whether Paul George stays in LA. We also get Rob’s take on Darvin Ham and the Lakers entire coaching staff being shown the door, and even though it’s LeBron’s 6th coach to be let go, Rob doesn’t think it’s a LeBron issue and sees him getting an extension in LA. And everyone has words for Pat Bev after the insane drama of throwing a ball into the stands, insulting a female ESPN reporter because she didn’t subscribe to her podcast, and what this means for his future beyond the NBA. Plus we debate whether the Suns will trade Devin Booker, give out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a Buffalo firefighter who saved a dog’s life, and play another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime.

Ep 46Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 46 - The Credit Card Swipe
bonus
As we look back on the NFL Draft, a listener takes a look at Rob's NBA Draft outfit from 1992 and asks why Rob chose to roll with that tie! And after Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch tore his knee after a sideline collision, we want to know if Rob ever suffered a strange/stupid injury during his playing days. MLB is rolling out their City Connect jerseys for the season, so we also ask Rob about his favorite NBA alternate jerseys, even though those largely didn't come until after he retired. We were all stunned to learn that Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is going to be a REAL fight, and wonder what will prevail - Tyson's power and experience, or Jake Paul's stamina. And after Stallone and Arnold did their sit down interview, we debate our favorite action heroes of all time. And after Jenners' daughter accidentally watched the new Deadpool trailer, we talk about the things we watched as kids that we knew were inappropriate.

Ep 162Big Shot Bob – Ep 162 – Shop Like My Momma

We roll into this week’s show with LeBron flinching on a woman in the front row of the Nuggets-Lakers Game 5, and how Rob felt about the Lakers performance as they were eliminated in the first round. Rob thinks Denver is vulnerable as they prepare to take on the high-powered Timberwolves, and while Rob picks Minnesota to win and advance, B-Dog thinks Denver will show the championship pedigree and find a way to win. Plus we debate about whether LeBron played his final game as a Laker – and while Rob says no, he does think the Lakers move on from Darvin Ham. The wild Suns payroll has our heads spinning as rumors circulate about them moving on from Frank Vogel, and we all discuss how Kyrie and Harden have both been exceptional in the Clippers-Mavericks series. We also get into Joel Embiid’s dirty play against the Knicks, and from there a debate about whether Embiid is a dirty player across his career. And we dive head first into the NFL Draft with a debate about whether the Falcons were wise or stupid to draft Michael Penix Jr after signing Kirk Cousins in the offseason – and amazing Draft audio from Xavier Leggette and Keon Coleman who both set the Internet on fire this week. We close out with Reggie getting his Heisman back, audio of the week from Charles Barkley as he took on the city of Galveston Texas, a Big Shot of the Week to a couple of barbers who saved a young girl’s life, and an eye-opening NBA game called Salary Cap.

Ep 45Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 45 – His Shoes Weren’t Even Tied
bonus
The NBA Playoffs always bring back memories for Rob as we kick off this week’s bonus show. We also get into Jim Harbough’s Michigan tattoo, and ask Rob if there was ever a tattoo promise on any team he played for… and he says if the Lakers had gone 16-0 in the playoffs they probably would have gotten a tattoo. We also kick around the anonymous poll of NBA players, where they crowned the most overrated players in the league, topped out by Rudy Gobert, Jordan Poole and Trae Young… and a few others that just seem like players hating on them, like Harden, Randle and Tatum. And Bovada’s random and terrible list of the Top NBA Champions of all time gets Rob all riled up, and the debate rages as Rob defends his teams that didn’t make the list. We also joke that this is the type of draft that will get someone fired, but Rob disagrees because there is so little talent on the board that everyone will earn a pass this year. Plus Jason Kelce lost his Super Bowl ring in a chili scavenger hunt, which spawns the question about the worst thing Rob ever lost, and we gauge everyone’s excitement level now that the new Deadpool and Wolverine trailer has dropped.

Ep 161Big Shot Bob – Ep 161 – I Played With Robert Horry

We go BIG on the NBA Playoffs this week, especially after Rob had to work the Lakers-Nuggets Game 2 where the Lakers blew a 20-point lead. Rob says Jamal Murray is going to continue to be a problem for the Lakers, as his averages against LA are way up from the regular season, and we all question the game plan down the stretch and how the team mentality changed. We also break down the wild end to the Knicks game as they go up 2-0 against the 76ers, Zion Williamson’s unfortunately timed hamstring injury, and how good the Clippers looked in Game 1 of their series against the Mavericks. There are also flowers for Dame Lillard and Anthony Edwards, both who went OFF in their individual games, and we especially look into the dominance of Ant-Man in a huge spot. We also get Rob’s thoughts on Anthony Davis saying “the league doesn’t like me” after another Defensive Player of the Year snub, and while Rob thinks he has a point he also thinks the award has been a joke since the they gave it to Marc Gasol. Plus Jontay Porter’s lifetime fine and what it means for the future of sports betting, Caitlin Clark’s run-in with an unintentionally creepy reporter, and the debate about whether Jags GM Trent Baalke farted during a press conference this week! And we close it out with a viral video Big Shot of the Week where good Samaritans saved a man from a burning vehicle in Minnesota, and a fun new game called Tip Drill where Harp and Rob play hot potato with trivia questions.

Ep 44Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 44 – Don’t Look Under the Blanket
bonus
The bonus show opens with the Allen Iverson statue controversy coming out of Philadelphia, after the Internet turned on the 76ers for unveiling a very small statue for Allen Iverson… but context matters, because every Philly legend has the same small statue outside the practice facility. Plus Kevin Durant talks about staying healthy this season by avoiding “floppers and crash dummies,” guys that Rob used to call “fake hustle” guys. We even dive into how much fun WrestleMania was this year, from guys that are NOT wrestling fans and really enjoyed it. And Rob weighs in on the Scottie Scheffler dilemma, as his wife was pregnant with their first child while he was leading the Masters, and he said he’d walk off the course if his wife went into labor… and Rob says he would leave any event, but Jenners contends that guys don’t have much to contribute during delivery. Plus, after the passing of OJ Simpson last week, Rob recounts what it was like playing in the NBA Finals the night of the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. And we close things out by talking about the 20 instances of guys scoring more than 50 in a game this season, and the final debate about who gets our MVP votes now that the regular season is over.

Ep 160Big Shot Bob – Ep 160 – Man of the People

It’s a full NBA Playoff Preview on this week’s show, and we open things up with Mike Greenberg’s comments about the Lakers “tanking” the play-in game so they can try to get the #8 seed to face OKC instead of taking the #7 seed and facing Denver… and Rob AGREES with him! We debate the merit of playing the tougher teams early instead of late, and dive deep into all the play-in games and first round matchups. Rob says that the Thunder are young, but they are NOT ready, and thinks the 8 seed in the West will have a legit shot to knock them out in the first round. And Rob and B-Dog debate the merit of Rudy Gobert in the playoffs, how entertaining the Clippers-Mavericks series will be, and what will happen to the Bucks without Giannis in the opening round. We also throw some props to Victor Wembanyama and take an eye-opening look at Caitlin Clark’s rookie deal with the WNBA. Plus some amazing audio from Boban’s missed free throw that won Clippers fans free chicken, and a fun new game called “Imposter” where Rob and B have to sniff out the NBA player that does not belong in the category.

Ep 43Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 43 – About to Move Some Furniture
bonus
We are loaded for the bonus show this week, and we start with former Warriors GM Bob Myers who somehow couldn’t find the leak of the Draymond Green vs Jordan Poole fight. Even though the team keeps track of everyone in and out of practice, Rob thinks it must have been hacked or buried on purpose. We also dive into some listener questions about whether the Bucks are regretting their hire of Doc Rivers, what has happened to the once great sports city of Oakland now that the A’s are going to Sacramento for a few seasons, what would happen to the Bulls if Billy Donovan takes the Kentucky. Rob also weighs in on last week’s bad look for the Dodgers, after the way they handled the young woman who caught Shohei Ohtani’s first home run in LA and they all but threatened her to give up the ball for far less than it was worth. And after the New York earthquake last week, Rob and the crew reflect on some of the wildest natural disasters that we’ve lived through.

Ep 159Big Shot Bob – Ep 159 – Don’t Use the Same Tube

We’re a day late this week because Rob had to have a colonoscopy, which leads to some weird and funny observations about going to the doctor. We also ask Rob if he thinks the Lakers have turned their back on Darvin Ham, and Rob says seeing guys walk out of the huddle is very normal in the NBA because guys know the play that the coach is drawing up. Props go out to UConn for bringing home their second straight National Championship – and specifically to Rob’s friend Dawn Staley for leading South Carolina to a women’s title and completing the unbeaten season. We also feature some of Dawn Staley’s post game audio, as she had a class move in recognizing Caitlin Clark. And we all contemplate if the buzz from the women’s tournament will carry over to the WNBA this season. Rob also talks about how much the “one-and-done” killing the storylines in the men’s game, and we all think that Bronny James declaring for the Draft is more of a portal move, and he’ll likely stay in college but move to a new program. Plus we debate whether Paul Pierce is drinking again on TV, thinking the Lakers would trade LeBron for Spida – but we do wonder what the Cavs are going to do with Donovan Mitchell… could he work in San Antonio with Wemby? A cool Big Shot of the Week gets us into some eclipse talk, and it’s a History Making Edition of the High/Low game!

Ep 42Big Shot Bob - Shoot Around Ep 42 - Squatters Rights
bonus
We open up the bonus show this week by looking at the sale of Kobe's championship ring at auction, which set a record, and Jenners did not realize that they gave every winner two rings for winning a title. And a listener question asks if the Lakers need a third star this offseason and Rob jokes that if the guys, they have plays to their potential they won't need one. We also throw some love to Isaiah Thomas for getting another 10-day with the Suns, debate whether Jokic should be okay to sit out as opposed to playing through small injuries, and joke about the squatters that are apparently ruining LeBron's neighborhood in Beverly Hills. Rob also weighs in on "foul hunters" and disagrees that Jalen Brunson falls into that group. but agrees that there are other guys that do.

Ep 158Big Shot Bob – Episode 158 – The State Flag Has Wrinkles

Rob was in the building to see Alabama knock off North Carolina and advance to the Final Four, and the crew talks about the DJ Burns phenomenon at NC State, the Iowa-LSU game on the women’s side, and Zach Edey’s controversial comments after Purdue advanced to the Final Four. We also get into the LeBron James comments that his career is reaching its end, largely because that wasn’t breaking news, but Rob looks at it from the perspective of a former player who was worn down from the mental and physical grind of playing in the league. Jenners also has to eat some crow after Anthony Davis has reached 70 games started, and we play some audio of the funniest April Fool’s prank on an unassuming mom! Plus Joel Embiid’s possible return this week could be a turning point for the Sixers, what Draymond Green has done to the Warriors dynasty, and Paul George’s future in LA or elsewhere. We also give out one of the best Big Shots of the Week we’ve heard in ages, and Rob and B-Dog face off in another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime!

Ep 41Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 41 – Shaq Broke That Rule
bonus
Rob wants to know how B-Dog treats his beard as we open the bonus show this week. We also take a minute to recognize Opening Day as the national holiday it deserves to be, and we ask Rob how important it really is for players to play in a city they love as we reflect on the failure of the Nets to attract star players. Plus Rob reminds Mike Greenberg and everyone listening that NO college team at level could even attempt to compete with pro teams. And Kendrick Perkins saying he’d ride with Brunson over all other point guards spurs a debate about what point guard we would want to run with into the postseason. Paul Pierce also brings a debate to the show as he said that Steph’s influence on the NBA was greater than Jordan or Magic’s. And we close it out with a Start-Bench-Cut between Draymond, Pat Bev and Bobby Portis.

Ep 157Big Shot Bob – Ep 157 – Too Many Bathrooms

Rob is going to see Alabama take on North Carolina in the Sweet Sixteen in LA this week, as Rob hopes to see his Tide avenge his last college basketball loss which came at the hands of UNC. Plus the tournament talk launches us into a debate about the merits of the transfer portal, in both basketball and football, and how bad the NCAA has been about regulation. And even though Kentucky continues to be a relevant brand, Harper wants to know how long it will be before they move on from John Calipari. We also dive deep in to the Western Conference standings, and how the Warriors need to keep an eye on the Rockets regardless of how Draymond Green seems to feel. And Boston’s disappointing performance against the Hawks (blowing a 30 point lead) didn’t really change anyone’s opinion that the Celtics are the team to beat in the East. There’s also some hilarious audio from Bol Bol, who accused the refs of “d*** riding” for Victor Wembanyama and doesn’t even catch a tech! And with Houston being on a hot streak, Jenners is surprised by the story that the Rockets tried to move him to the Nets for Mikal Bridges. The Big Shot of the Week goes to Travis Hunter who bought his mom a “nice ass house” – followed by a debate about how many bathrooms a house SHOULD have! And we close it out with a classic round of Shootout!

Ep 40Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 40 – Evade the Obvious
bonus
Lots of great topics in this week’s bonus show, including Jalen Rose saying the #23 should be retired across the NBA in honor of Michael Jordan… and Rob and B-Dog strongly disagree on this one. We also have a debate about the players with the highest peaks in their careers, which leads to even more disagreement amongst the group. Plus Steph Curry made headlines this week by saying he might want to run for President one day and everyone has input about who could be his running mate and why politics is a bad move for popular athletes. Draymond Green thinks Victor Wembenyama is already a Top 20 payer in the league, which leads Rob and B-Dog to discuss how San Antonio can make the most of him while they have him. We close out with the Evan Fournier fine, which Rob says is normal as soon as an object is hurled into the stands, and after Paul Pierce was robbed this week, Rob shares his story about being burgled.

Ep 156Big Shot Bob – Ep 156 – A Kardashian Showed Up

Robert Horry opens the show this week by talking about his dislike for coffee, the cool special needs event he was privileged to attend this week, and the upcoming interview he has with his son Christian now that he’s committed to UCLA. We also talk about the Jalen Johnson dunk on Austin Reaves, and the dunk of the year, as Anthony Edwards postered John Collins in epic fashion this week. That spins into a conversation about Ant Man’s upside, what Rob expects to see from him in the coming years, and how good the Pelicans have been now that Zion Williamson has returned to his #1 pick form. And as we discuss how Stephen A Smith had to walk-back his take on Zion, we also get into Mad Dog Russo’s ridiculous take that Jokic is better than Shaq, and how mainstream sports media leans so heavily on gimmicks. Kyrie Irving’s WILD game winner over the weekend puts us back in a positive mindset when it comes to Kyrie, largely because the off-court noise has been at a minimum since he arrived in Dallas. We also address one of the big questions of the week – is DeMar DeRozan a Hall of Famer? Rob says yes, B-Dog says no, and the HOF conversation spins out from there. Plus bracket talk, the Kevin Harlan audio of the week, the hilarious jersey swap of the year, a cool Big Shot of the Week from Jalen Hurts, and Rob balls out in a round of Rapid Fire!

Ep 39Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 39 – More Pep in Your Step
bonus
In this week’s bonus show, we address the typos on the Kobe statue outside of Cyrpto, which leads us into a conversation about words we simply cannot spell. Plus Ty Lue said this week that Jalen Green and Cam Whitmore in Houston remind him of when Vince Carter and Tracey McGrady arrived in Toronto, and while Rob loves them he wishes they were more consistent. Rob would love to see Isaiah Thomas get another shot in the league because the game has finally evolved to his strong suits. We also dive into the greatest “What Ifs” in NBA history – from Jordan getting drafted by Portland, Derrick Rose and Penny staying healthy, and just how good the Celtics would have been if Len Bias would have made it to the league. And Rob thinks the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is a glorified publicity stunt, and we ask if his son gets the $2500 per month allowance that Larsa Pippen’s daughter receives.

Ep 155Big Shot Bob – Ep 155 – Smell the Wood Burning

Robert Horry celebrates his son Christian’s team, Harvard Westlake, celebrating their second straight State Championship – as Chris gets ready to transition to UCLA this fall and get involved in the college program. On the NBA front we get into the perception of the Lakers “deep bench” as it’s touted by the media, and how the Lakers have flashes of greatness at times then drop games they should absolutely win. Plus with Jayson Tatum’s rough week, we argue if that takes him out of MVP contention, and who realistically deserves to win it at this point in the year, with SGA, Luka and of course Jokic in the conversation. And after Rudy Gobert caught a $100K fine for flashing the money sign at the refs, we wonder why there has been such a lack of consistency with fines among players and coaches this year. Brian Windhorst also gets whipped by everyone on the show for saying Allen Iverson’s shots “wouldn’t fly” in today’s NBA, we debate KG’s remarks about how the NBA botched LeBron’s 40K point milestone, the huge LSU-South Carolina debate in the women’s SEC Championship, and even kick around some of the craziness from this week’s NBA free agency. A 5-year-old basketball coach gets the Big Shot of the Week, and we put our tiny brains to the test against fifth grade cognition riddles that none of us can solve!

Ep 38Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 38 – Always Check on the Money
bonus
We open the bonus show with how excited we are for March Madness, and get Rob’s memories of playing in the tournament and what it was like compared to the NBA Playoffs. And after Jimmy Butler spoke about “Playoff Jimmy” being the best player in the postseason, we get into a conversation about the guys who were always at their best when the Playoffs hit. After the Celtics boat-raced the Warriors and beat them by 52, we talk to Rob about the worst loss he ever took. Plus listeners questions range from why guys get so upset a winning team takes shots at the end of the game when the game is already decided, to the dumbest things we got caught doing as a kid after teenagers broke into the Intuit Dome this week. And following Jason Kelce’s emotional retirement speech, we ask Rob if he’s ever had to make a big speech… and did he actually officially retire from the NBA? We close it out with Chris Paul, who said he thinks he’ll win a title before his career is over, we debate whether or not that will actually happen.

Ep 154Big Shot Bob – Episode 154 – Clayton Crowley and Your Mom

We’re joined by YouTube creator Clayton Crowley, who put out the video last week about Rob as “The Greatest Role Player in NBA History”, as it was really well done. This video has since popped off on YouTube, and Clayton talks why he made it, why he loves hoops, and why he chose to put the spotlight on Rob’s career. We also joke about stories that Clayton uncovered about Rob, how Tim Duncan used to tease him, and how none of our moms approved of our choices. Clayton sticks around for the rest of the show, as we dive into LeBron eclipsing the 40,000 point mark, why Caitlyn Clark would go to the WNBA over the NIL money she’ll get in college, Darvin Ham’s future with the Lakers and our individual MVP candidates. Plus Rob pulled some click bait headlines this week, we offer up a really great Big Shot of the Week to the cops who saved an autistic girl from a Florida swamp, and play a hilarious round of Walmart or Waffle House with Clayton!
