Why and How You Should Find a Mentor for Your Success – BtR 154

If you truly want to find success beyond your own ruts inlife, you need to find a mentor or two. A mentor is simply someone who has gonewhere you want to be. Benefits of Having a Mentor The best way to ever “make your own path” as we like to sayat Beyond the Rut is to learn from the journeys of those who have gone beforeyou. Benefits of having a mentor include, but are not limited to the following:Learn from your mentor’s successesLearn from your mentor’s mistakesGain insights on the keys to success you don’tfind in a textbookGain insights into your own blind spotsAccountability for what you say you want toaccomplishEncouragement from someone who knows it can bedoneHow to Find a Mentor in BusinessThe number one piece of advice we can give you when it comesto finding a mentor in business is to stick with those who have a proven trackrecord in business. It may seem like we are stating the obvious, but you don’twant to take advice about business from someone who has never run a business. You don’t want advice about writing a book from someone who has never publishedanything. Some questions to ask yourself before you seek a mentor in businessmay be like the question below.Has the person been in the SAME business for anumber of years? Beware of charlatans who move from one business to anotherevery few months.Does the person have a positive reputation, especiallywhen it comes to character?Does this person’s journey line up with my own?Am I willing to authentically open up to thisperson?Am I willing to be held accountable to my owngoals and challenges? The answer to the above should be, yes, because they will bethe best mentors for you.Go Find a Mentor! The boldest move you can make is to go find a person whowill spend time to pour into you. Be ready to give that mentoring relationshipyour all if you do, otherwise you’re wasting the time of your mentor. The person you wish to mentor you directly may not beavailable. In that case, we recommend you either find another person who ishaving success and shows similar influence of the person your originallysought. In the meantime, absorb as much content as you can applyfrom those who inspire you. The best mentors know they cannot serve everyone ina mentoring relationship. Their books, podcasts, and other forms of media aremeant to make up for that. Take advantage of that first. Doing so will allowyou to take a mentor relationship to a deeper level if you get to that boldlevel. Consider Mentoring OthersWhile this episode is about finding a mentor, allow yourselfto be found as well. Mentoring benefits the mentor as much as it does the personbeing mentored. The deeper and more authentic a mentor relationship is the morea mentor can grow as well. Mentoring is also a great way to leave your mark inthis world through influencing other people you meet.Resources and LinksListen to Brandon share about Putting Things in Perspective After BypassSurgery – BtR 150Read this article from Huffpost,9Characteristics of a Good Mentoring Relationship by Rajesh SettyRead this article fGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. Rob Decker Surviving Suicide and Overcoming Drug Addiction – BtR 151

Fitness trainer and motivational speaker, Rob Decker, shares his experiences in surviving suicide and overcoming drug addiction. We want to first make the disclaimer that this is not an episode about how to overcome drug addiction on your own. Bad Relationships and AddictionsRob Decker’s struggle with drug and alcohol abuse did not start during college binges. His life began with darkness. He shares about how he was born as the product of rape. His stepfather was also the result of a sexual assault. The relationship between mother and stepfather was a dysfunctional one at best. Drugs and alcohol abuse was the norm for this family of four. By his teenage years, Rob was drinking, doing recreational drugs, and selling. It was the only way he knew how to cope with the harsh life he faced. His image of success was centered on looking good on the outside while his life was a wreck on the inside. One day, he met a young woman at a bank and pursued a relationship with her knowing in his gut that it was a bad idea. That relationship was no different from his other toxic relationships, except that it ended with false charges of rape and attempted murder.Feeling he had nothing else going for him, Rob ran through a glass door from a 3-story apartment intent on breaking his neck on the fall. Instead of ending his life that night, he found himself surviving suicide and enduring excruciating pain. He was also under arrest and handcuffed to his hospital bed. Overcoming Drug AddictionRob’s story is one of healing and triumph. Today, he is no longer struggling with addiction, married, and father of a young boy. It was a miraculous journey for Rob Decker, although it was not a journey that happened overnight. He was told he’d never walk again. His mother even told him it would have been better if he had died the night he jumped through that window!Instead, Rob endured multiple surgeries, sessions of physical therapy, and clung onto his relationship with Jesus Christ to carry him through. While working as a fitness coach, he is also a motivational speaker using his story to inspire others to have faith in their possibilities.Resources and LinksSome of the links below are affiliate links, meaning at no cost to you Beyond the Rut will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. Putting Things in Perspective After Bypass Surgery – BtR 150

Brandon shares his experiences before, during and afterbypass surgery and how it has helped him put things in perspective. You may have noticed that shortly afterBrandon returned from his Summer hiatus that he disappeared from a few episodeswithout much mention. That is because in a matter of a couple of weeks he wentfrom experiencing some annoying shoulder pain, to visiting a doctor for a routine check, then discovering he wouldneed a stent in the near future. Things came to an accelerated conclusion when a few dayslater that pain became more focused in his chest. A trip to the emergency room escalatedinto admission for observation and ultimately bypass surgery. It was a scaryride, and at the same time we were allconfident that he was in good hands.Put Things in PerspectiveNow that Brandon is discharged from the hospital, and as ofthis week cleared by his cardiologist, we are taking some time to gain insight into Brandon’s experiences with bypass surgery. We will also explore how you can live a life in perspective of what is most important withouthaving to go through a crisis like this.If there is one thing we have learned from this ordeal isthat life is short, and it is delicate, and nothing can put it in perspective for us like a runwith death. Fortunately, Brandon knowing his family history with heart diseasecaught the symptoms early and did not wait to be seen by a physician. Many peopledie from choking despite being surrounded by friends and family by going to a private place to choke alone. Howcrazy is that to be killed by pride? Help is right in front of us, yet we don’task for it when our lives depend on it! This was no different, except Brandon soughthelp and received timely interventions before ever suffering from an actualheart attack. That is the beauty of the situation when you put it in perspective. Hedid not suffer from a heart attack; therefore, he gets all the benefits of abypass surgery without the lingering damage that comes from a heart attack. What is YourPerspective in Life?Give yourself some time to reflect after listening to thisepisode of Beyond the Rut, and consider what is your perspective in life? With your relationships, determine who is most important tohave alongside you. These are the people you have either married, maybe theyare your children or step-children or even adopted/foster children. These arealso the people who stood by your side during a crisis while others went ontheir merry way or betrayed you. There was a woman who shared with us a time she had to go tothe hospital for an appendectomy. Her husband told her that she needed to findher own ride home since he had work to do at the office. Would you say he has life in perspective? Americans are known for taking pride in working for longstretches without a vacation. We are fascinated by being busy. How to be Authentic as a Man in Today’s Society with Oscar Banks – BtR 149

Pastor Oscar Banks shares his story about becoming aminister and insights on howto be authentic as a man in today's society. Growing up in a home thatlacked a father, Oscar learned about authentic manhood from other father figures who stepped up to thechallenge. Men who were teachers, coaches, and elders from his church investedtime in his life to on what it meant to be a man of character.Insights on How to be AuthenticWhat keeps us from living an authentic life as men? Today’s society floods us with messaging about what freedom, strength, and toughness look like for men. It includes things like sleeping around, living carefree, and not looking weak in front of the guys. The aftermath leaves us living in loneliness while cavinginto peer pressure because we think we are actually living up to an image. Itmakes one wonder what doesauthenticity mean to these men who struggle and wallow.Livingan authentic life means first being true to ourselves no matter what thecost. It means choosing to go home to one’s family rather than hang out withthe guys at a strip club. It means spending time in the relationships thatmatter most when given the choice and opportunity. If you want to know how to be authentic, startwith knowing what you stand for and remove any semblance of compromise in yourlife.3 Benefits of Living an Authentic LifeFirst, you garner more respect from others, and more importantly from yourself. If you fake it in life, you become fake. When your actionsare in alignment with your inner beliefs and values, people recognize andappreciate you for presenting your true self. They may not agree with what you present, but they at least respect that they can trust where you are coming from. Think about someone you know whose words and actions do notalign. You can spot a phony and you don’t have the respect for them they thinkyou have, right?Second, you find more happiness in life.Stronger and closer relationships with those we love. Whodoes not want that? When you have figured out how to be authentic, people trust you and drawcloser to you. This is not some formula on how to manipulate people to likeyou. It is about taking the time to show your genuine character consistently.Walk away from the things that pose a threat to what you hold most dear and youwill find that your loved ones notice. They may not know of the decision you made, but they will know you decided to be there.Third, you can exhibit authentic leadership at every level of your life. When you are living an authentic life, that bleeds into everyfacet of your life. Your coworkers will be drawn to you because your leadershipstyle is one they can count on. It is important that people understand whereyou are coming from. It is crucial they see your values and your behaviorsspeak truly to one another.Resources and LinksCheck out and Subscribe to Oscar’s YouTube Channel, Mastering Mindset Renewal with Oscar Banks.LGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. How to Begin a Journal Writing Habit for Your Success – BtR 144

History is filled with men and women who kept a journal for a variety of reasons. Brandon and Jerry discuss how to begin a journal as part of your journey to success. What is Journaling?Journaling is essentially a process of capturing your thoughts down into written form. Some people who keep a journal do so to keep a record of their daily activities. Others use it as a means of writing out their feelings. There is no set way one must keep a journal, but we will share with you why you should, how to begin a journal, and provide some personal journal ideas.Benefits of Journal WritingWhether you are on the fence about starting a habit of journaling, or just curious for more ideas, here is a list of benefits that come from journaling. It helps you get your raw thoughts onto paper. Our minds work at a rapid pace, and life goes just as quickly it seems. When you take time to pause and write out your thoughts in the moment, you are capturing those thoughts for later reflection. You gain an outside perspective for something that was inside your head.If you ever told a joke that sounded funny when it was inside your head only to realize how bad of a joke it really was once you spoke it out loud, journaling is kind of like that. The difference is that the pendulum swings both ways. Bad ideas are recognized right away. Good ideas can be further massaged into viable ideas or products.Journaling helps facilitate reflection when you read older entries.A good journal is one you can go back to and reflect on thoughts, ideas, and seasons of your life that have passed. It may encourage you to pick up on a project that had been set aside. You may be reminded to re-establish a routine that was helpful to you in the past.A journal helps you measure how far you have progressed in life.Jerry has journal entries and blog posts from a rough financial season in his life. Reading through those entries lets him see how far he has come since that time. His appreciation for his blessings goes up after reading them. It’s probably why you se him so happy these days. He is able to celebrate his wins. Life is good. How to begin a journal writing habit that works for you.You can brainstorm ideas that help you plan for the future.A journal is a great place to plan for the future. You can envision where you want your business or career to be in five to ten years. Keeping a journal can even help you plan for that ideal vacation! Let it be a creative outlet for you where you create the future you desire in its pages.Your life’s lessons add up over time to become your first book.Write in a journal long enough and you’ll find that you have enough material to begin piecing together a book for publishing. We have friends who have written a lot of great content in their journals. They have shared some of those entries with us, so we know. The question we often ask after reading something they finally shared iGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. Finding Balance and Other Insights from a Hiatus – BtR 143

Finding BalanceFindingbalance is something many ofus strive to achieve in our busy, stress-filled lives. Brandon and I cannot saydefinitely that we have created or found balanced lives. We can share that finding your balancemeans recognizing there are times when you need to take a step back, then thereare times to be all-in pursuing your goals and dreams. Importance of a Balanced LifeBrandon took a hiatus from Beyond the Rut anda few other activities in his life during the summer of 2018. Life’s activitieswere pulling him in multiple directions at the same time. This episode ofBeyond the Rut podcast shares with you how you can find balance in life by sharing insights hegained during his time off.Without finding balance among work and life, your productivitydrops. Your impact drops whether that is at the office or at home with your lovedones. If you have ever found yourself overwhelmed with life events while at theoffice, you need to find some balance in life. If you find yourself checking your work emailwhile you are attending your children’s school events, you need to find some balance in life. What is a Work Life Balance? There is a growing acceptance that there is no such thing as finding balance. Life is chaotic and you just have to hold on for the ride in a sense. When you dig deeper into that belief, you findthat it comes from (1) accepting that life is chaotic and demanding and (2) youhave to decide what is most important to you in that moment and put your focusthere. Isn’t that the same thing as “finding balance?”We seem to think that finding balance is about finding some kind of zen-like,relaxed state where nothing bothers you. That is not how we would describe it atall.Elements of a Balanced LifeWork takes up about a third of our days. Atrade is made for that time and our work in exchange for a paycheck that isthen used for those five areas mentioned above. The problem with finding balance is that we often let work take over our lives. There are the 8 hours we often exchange Monday through Friday. On top of that, we commit to at least 5 hours each week to a commute for that job assuming a 30-minute commute time each way. If you’ve worked through your 1-hour lunch break regular, there is another 5 hours a week. Consider the time spent preparing your clothes for work whether you do the laundry yourself, or use a dry cleaner. At Beyond the Rut, we believe there aremultiple of circles that are important to your life. We list the Big Five asthe following:Faith – your spirituallifeFitness – taking careof yourself physically and emotionallyFamily – your mostimportant relationshipsFinances – your meansto take care of those most important to you and to do what is most important toyou.Furthering yourpersonal and professional development – this is basically the work you do andwe really wanted that alliteration to happen.Work is important. Solo Hiking – Lessons Learned from My First Solo Backpacking Trip (a Rebroadcast) – BtR 141

Solo Hikingby Jerry Every quest has a season where it feels like you are going it alone. That is synonymous with my first solo hiking trip taken last summer. Texas heat scorches during the Summer. We joke about it being a dry heat, but I really don't know why that matters. It's still friggin' hot! With those hot temperatures also came a flurry of you-shouldn't-go comments from friends and family. I heard it all. It's too hot.You don't know what kind of animals are out there. What if you get hurt? What if it gets cold?Similar to what Eric Giuliani encountered before he traveled around the world for three years without using air transportation, I knew that I was not receiving rational advice. These were the fears they held onto. They were doing their best to pass them on to me. I guess if I somehow caved into their fear, the comfort zones stayed intact. If I went on this trip, even though it was an overnight shakedown trip to test out some gear, it meant I was willing to overcome their fears and who am I to do that?Don't Worry About Everyone Else's FearsWhen serving others, especially in healthcare or sales, yes, you want to worry about the fear others have and help them navigate through that fear. When it comes to making your own path and pursuing your dreams, don't worry about the fears others have. Simply worry about overcoming your own through educating yourself, good planning, then taking that first step to try it out.If something goes wrong, take failure as a lesson learned and not a reason to never try again.Links and ResourcesBtR 067 – Eric Giuliani is Traveling Tall and Living His DreamBtR 132 - Regret-Proof Your Life and Reduce Busy-ness with Suzy RosensteinConnect with UsEmail: [email protected]: 361-596-3788Twitter: Twitter.com/beyondtherutFacebook: Beyond the RutGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. How to Battle Your Fear of Missing Out – BtR 140

A fear of missing out may be one of the underlying issues that make you feel like your life is in a rut. It can also be refined into fuel that drives you to live out your God-given dreams. This article will discuss that feeling and what can be done to overcome it.FOMO Fear of Missing OutFear of being averageIt was the day after Christmas in 2005 when it hit me. I had just spent the entire year paying off all my credit card debt, and it felt great! The problem was that it was now the day after Christmas and all that credit card debt was back. We just had to give our children the best holiday experience ever, right? My kids played with their new toys that morning. My wife was happy they were happy. All I could think about was spending another year paying off that debt, scrimping and scraping together a living for them. There was so much we could not do because of that in the previous year.It was said at that time that about 93% of Americans had one or more credit cards with an average debt of around $5,000 on those credit cards. It may have been higher. I was the average American. I had a mortgage, a car payment, and extra credit card debts. It felt like a crushing weight on my shoulders. On top of that, I was turning 30 in a couple of months and thought long and hard about where my life was going. My outlook on life was that I had to trade my freedom to pay off a recurring debt I didn’t need.A fear of missing out was creeping into my life. I didn’t want to be average. I didn’t want to lose my freedom to travel, find new experiences and meet new people. I would go from war veteran to unnamed, unknown office worker. I was about to shut the door on life in a sense. For my wife, she was driven by a different fear of mediocrity. Average for her meant our children not having anything they wanted. It meant depriving our family of things. Little did she know at the time that she was getting caught up in a game of “Keeping Up with the Joneses.”The comparison of our lives to the lives of others is a great way to insert misery and contempt into your life. It’s best not to play that game at all.The Result of FOMO MarketingThe marketing industry is a powerful one. Almost a quarter of a trillion dollars is spent annually in the United States to drive a machine designed to capture your attention and convince you that you desperately need their products or services. In those expenditures, there is a lot learned about human motivations. The industry has identified our deepest fears and needs. The biggest ones being aging, losing freedom, losing power. You buy their products and you’ll have youth, freedom, happiness, and power.Even our fear of missing out in relationships gets tapped into. I’m thinking about commercials for shaving products. Can’t get a close shave, so no one will want you. Buy our product, you can have a close shave and a beautiful woman will want to touch your facGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. How the Happiness Advantage Can Change Your World (Part 2) – BtR 139

Happiness to Pursue SuccessWe often chase success to become happy. If that were true, then we would be happy in our new car, large homes, and corporate jobs with the great salaries and perks. The truth is that it is not these status symbols that make us happy. If anything, we find ourselves trapped and unhappy trying to look successful.Consider the possibility that being truly happy and seeing the world filled with opportunity is what will turn you into a success magnet. Happy doctors make accurate diagnoses two times faster than those who were in a neutral state. The difference maker? Candy. Optimistic salespeople outsell their negative- and neutral-minded counterparts by an average of 56%. Positive social interactions are known to increase oxytocin in your body, which reduces anxiety, increases flow in your cardiovascular, immune and neuroendocrine systems - you're healthier and happier.7 Principles Discussed The Happiness Advantage Change Your Performance by Changing Your Mindset The Tetris Effect Falling Up - How to see failure The Zorro Circle - Search inward for small focus and master control incrementally The 20-Second Rule for Building Positive Habits and Removing Negative Ones Social InvestmentResources and LinksBtR 133 – If You Are Too Busy to Listen to This Episode, You Need This Episode!BtR 138 - How the Happiness Advantage Can Change Your World (Part 1)Buy the Book – The Happiness Advantage by Shawn AchorConnect with UsEmail: [email protected]: 361-596-3788Twitter: Twitter.com/beyondtherutFacebook: Beyond the RutGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. How the Happiness Advantage Can Change Your World (Part 1) – BtR 138

The Happiness AdvantageAt best, it can be said that only 45% of the workforce enjoys their job. That means the majority of us wake up in the morning and dread the commute that puts us in a prison. That is no way to truly live, is it?If we say in the U.S. Constitution that every person has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it makes no sense that we go about the pursuit of happiness all wrong.Happiness is not achieved through milestones, a certain salary, a certain career, or any other external factor to ourselves. Happiness is actually achieved when we create that mindset in us first, and then we see the benefits in our careers, finances, family, and so on.Shawn Achor is known for his work in the field of positive psychology. In this episode, we will explore how having a positive mindset and creating happiness for ourselves first is what changes our world. First, we take a look at a part of Jerry's life that you may not have known after all this time. It's not really a story shared with many until now.Resources and LinksBtR 133 – If You Are Too Busy to Listen to This Episode, You Need This Episode!Buy the Book – The Happiness Advantage by Shawn AchorConnect with UsEmail: [email protected]: 361-596-3788Twitter: Twitter.com/beyondtherutFacebook: Beyond the RutGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. How to Find that Extra Time for Your Own Miracle Morning – BtR 137

Miracle Morning? What is that?by JerryI have wanted to conduct a series of activities every morning that I knew would be good for my mind, my body and my soul. The problem is that I never really committed to a time or structure. As a result, my life followed the same pattern that many other people follow. I wake up with enough time to get ready for work and then go to work. While I am happy to be alive, my mindset and my outset never showed it.At the suggestion of Jeff Bezos, okay Amazon.com, I got a copy of The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and found the routine and process I needed. I'm someone who enjoys a good life hack now and then and discovering this simple and not-so-obvious set of life hacks had me excited. It has been five weeks for me at the time of this episodes recording, July 1, 2018. My normal wake up time used to be 7 am, and it is now 5 am. I used to hit my snooze button from 6 am until 7 am, then scramble to get ready for work. Today, I hop out of bed, turn off my alarm right away and start my daily routine. My daily routine has brought me peace of mind instead of the fatigue and loss of productivity others had predicted for me. Being able to read my Bible, journal and spend time in prayer every morning consistently has actually prepared me to tackle just about any challenge that is thrown my way with a healthy perspective.Resources and LinksBtR 133 - If You Are Too Busy to Listen to This Episode, You Need This Episode!Buy the Book – The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret to Guaranteed to Transform Your Life Before 8 am by Hal ElrodBuy the Book - The Happiness Advantage by Shawn AchorConnect with UsEmail: [email protected]: 361-596-3788Twitter: Twitter.com/beyondtherutFacebook: Beyond the RutGo to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. Making Time for Rest and Nine Tips to Have an Effective Break – BtR 134

Restby JerryEpisode 133 was a discussion around how U.S. culture has come to pride itself on being busy. I remember growing up in a home where my dad showed rest to mean sleeping on the couch while classic Westerns played on the television. He never came out of his naps feeling recharged. Instead, it would seem that he was groggier and foggier after these naps.Have you had an example like that?Rest is known, if done correctly, to revitalize our spirits and give us clarity. Even Jesus regularly pulled himself away to a place of solitude to find rest.Listen to this episode for tips on how to take a break that is effective is recentering yourself to take on the challenges of your day.Connect with UsEmail: [email protected]: 361-596-3788Twitter: Twitter.com/beyondtherutFacebook: Beyond the Rut Go to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. If You Are Too Busy to Listen to This Episode, You Need this Episode! BtR 133

Busy (by Jerry)You know you're probably too busy when you have a conversation that goes like this.Me: How are you? You: Busy! (or "Crazy busy!" if being just regular busy is not enough.)Over recent years, we seem to have changed the response to "How are you?" from "Fine" to "Busy".Being busy is a strange badge of courage. I just read a Facebook post of a friend who complained about coming down with a cold to kick off the Summer. It caught my attention that she finished the post complaining, or bragging, about how she still needed to get up early and prep lunches for her son for the next four weeks. No rest for the weary, I suppose. At a time when her body needs rest and she could use some encouragement, the author of the post lets us all know that the cold can wait because she's a fast-paced super-mom.Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed because of a promotion you received. Everyone seems to need your attention right now, and you're just trying to figure out how to be there for your child's event. The Best Beyond the Rut Moments of 2017 – Btr 113

Beyond the Rut in 2017Beyond the Rut is a podcast about encouraging, inspiring, and equipping you to make your own path and live the life you've always dreamed of beyond the rut. Many of our listeners have expressed over the years how they have a good job, they love their families, but life somehow seems to be an unfulfilled rut. There is something more they have dreamed of for their families and struggle to find a way to pursue that. Those dreams vary from person to person, because we are each a unique creation. That's where Beyond the Rut comes in. We have had the pleasure and honor to hold conversations with people just like you who have found their own paths. Our hope is that these stories have in some way helped you take that first step or that next step to reaching your dreams. We are sharing with you in this episode our five favorite moments from all those interviews conducted in 2017. This was a tough list to come up with as we felt all our interviews were great. These five clips, however, encapsulate what our message has been about: Find a creative way to fund your dream and move forward anyway. You aren't meant to make everyone happy. Apply your special gifts and talents to meet a special need. Find great coaches and mentors to propel you on your journey. Help others. Others will help you, too. There is no excuse to not learn what you need to know and make someone else's job easier.Special ThanksWe'd like to give special thanks to Sara McDaniel, Patti Centeno and Jody Maberry who connected us with these great people. This show would not have been able to share the wisdom of anyone we interviewed in 2017 with people like you sharing your circles of influence with us.Links and ResourcesBtR 107 - Travel Tall Homecoming with Eric GiulianiBtR 091 - Discarding the Myth of the Starving Artist with Jeff GoinsBtR 082 - Energize Your Way Out of a Job Jail Rut with Dondi ScumaciBtR 075 - Lisa Reynolds on Leading through RelationshipsBtR 072 - Creating Career Magic with Lee CockerellEric's website where you can see all of his travels, TravelTall.com.Jeff Goins can be found at GoinsWriter.com and also has a podcast called The Portfolio Life which is available on iTunes, Stitcher and Google Play Music.Want to energize your career, or have Dondi speak at your next company training? Insights from Randy Pausch’s The Last Lecture – BtR 111

The Last Lecture by Randy PauschThe Last Lecture, wrote by Randy Pausch in his final days battling metastasized cancer, shares his message to readers about living a full and purposeful life. The sad truth is that the United States population experiences a 100% mortality rate in life. You can actually say this is a global issue. We all die eventually, and there is no stopping it although we will delay its coming as best as possible. What will you do with the time you do have on this Earth?"God intended for you to live a life abundantly." Brandon CunninghamBrandon and Jerry discuss their lessons taken from reading The Last Lecture around the following questions: What are you focused on right now that doesn't really matter in your life? How do you set priorities on what matters most? How do you set the right boundaries to protect what matters most? You don't have to be plugged into communication technology 24/7?! What are you reading or learning that is adding to your personal and professional growth?"When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long."
