<p>In this podcast, Thomas Domville walks us through Apple's Podcast app for iOS, which has gained some significant changes and new features with the release of iOS 14.5. These include:</p><blockquote><ul><li>Podcasts Show Pages are redesigned to make it easier to start listening.</li><li>Option to save and download episodes, automatically adding them to your Library for quick access.</li><li>Download behavior and notification settings can be customized on a show-by-show basis.</li><li>Top Charts and popular categories in Search help you discover new shows.</li></ul></blockquote>

<p>In this podcast, Thomas Domville showcases the new “Unlock with Apple Watch”” feature introduced in iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 that allows the iPhone to use an unlocked and authenticated Apple Watch as a secondary authentication method; making it easier to unlock an iPhone when you're wearing a mask. When this feature is enabled in Settings > Face ID & Passcode, you will not need to take off your mask or enter a passcode to unlock your iPhone. Note that a full Face ID facial scan or a passcode will still be required to authenticate Apple Pay or App Store purchases.</p>

<p>In this podcast, Thomas Domville demonstrates how in iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Siri gains two new American English voice options, with the list of available voice options now numbered, rather than being described as male or female. Additionally, when setting up a new device, you will be prompted to select your preferred Siri voice rather than there being a default. The new Siri voices are also available to use with VoiceOver.</p><p>Note that these new Siri voices are also available on the Mac with the release of macOS Big Sur 11.3.</p>

<p>In this episode, Thomas Domville revisits how to use Back Tap on iOS.</p><p>Back tap is a feature that takes advantage of an iPhone’s accelerometer to detect taps on the back of the device. These taps can be mapped to toggle accessibility settings on and off, perform VoiceOver functions, access system features of iOS, or run Siri shortcuts. Back taps can be configured to perform system-wide functions of iOS by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap, choosing either a double or triple-tap, and selecting the function you want to map that gesture to. Note that this list is organized by heading for ease of navigation.</p><p>In addition, you can configure back taps to perform VoiceOver functions by going to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Commands > Touch gestures, choosing either a double or triple-tap under the "Back tap" heading, and selecting the function you want to map that gesture to. Similar to the list of system-wide functions, this list is organized by heading.</p>

<p>Have you ever received an audio message that is important, sentimental, or just something you like to save? In this podcast Thomas Domville will show us how to save audio message on iOS.</p>

<p>In this episode, Tyler demonstrates how to automatically delete messages on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.</p><p>By default, the Messages app on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS retains messages and conversations until you delete them. However, particularly if you receive a large number of attachments, messages can occupy a significant portion of space on your device. To automatically delete messages after a set amount of time after they've been received on iOS and iPadOS, go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Keep messages, and choose an option. To do the same on macOS, open Messages, choose Messages > Settings (or press Command-Comma), click the General button in the toolbar, and choose an option from the "Keep messages" popup menu.</p>
