Anyway, the governess decides that the best thing to do would be to get Flora out of Bly and to her uncle in London. She worries the letter she sent will arrive before them, but then Mrs. Grose also tells her that the letter was never sent, because she things Miles stole it. Wow. Who would have guessed?! Governess just kinda left it out on a table and ran off. Sheesh. Flora and Mrs. Grose head out for London the following morning, leaving Miles and the governess alone for a very silent and awkward dinner. Her comparison is really an odd one? She likens it to a newly wed couple taking meals at an inn on their honeymoon or something like that. Like, either party is too embarrassed to talk to the other in front of the attendants? An Old Ghost Story: The Turn of the Screw (Part 7)

Good evening, friends, fiends, and night owl supremes! Let's get (more) ghosty! Follow my voice once again into the dreaded Bly Manor, for this spooky calm reading of Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw!" (Part 7!)Welcome back for the ghost story behind "The Haunting of Bly Manor" - "The Turn of the Screw" Part 7 (Chapters 18, 19, and 20!) Tonight, Miles (with Peter Quint) successfully distract the governess from watching little Flora (and, of course Miss Jessel). How? He plays such a compelling piece on the piano that she loses herself and dozes off for a bit. By the time the governess comes to herself, she realizes she has lost track of Flora and KNOWS she is up to something with Miss Jessel. She rushes off to brief Mrs. Grose, and the two of them search everywhere for the little miss, finally going to the Bly Pond. They don’t see the boat, and the governess is convinced that Miss Jessel told Flora to hide it to cover her tracks. Her hunch proves right. After a “really long” 10 minute walk around the pond (heaven forbid), the governess and Mrs. Gross catch Flora. Miss Jessel is there plain as day to both women… until she isn’t? Mrs. Gross, overcome by something, rushes to Flora and acts as though nothing is the matter! Flora says some nasty words to the governess, and asks to have her belongings removed from her room. This absolutely breaks the governess, and something MUST be done! This tale, Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw," is read in a soft voice and set to some light and eerie background music. I do hope you enjoy this evening's ghost story!Tonight's Story Behind Bly Manor Part 7 is from the following chapters:The Turn of the Screw, Chapter 18: 2:04The Turn of the Screw, Chapter 19: 10:11The Turn of the Screw, Chapter 20: 18:38"Blue Feather, Reaching Out, Floating Cities" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/This tale, "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James, is now in public domain. A Twisted Old Fairytale: Fairer than a Fairy

What's in a name? Only the wrath of the most ruthless of fairies, it turns out! Join me for tonight's fairy tale storytelling of "Fairer-than-a-Fairy!" Oh, it's a wonderful twist a many parts of the "Sleeping Beauty" type tale, so let's go!Can't sleep? How about envisioning yourself in a magic castle in nestled in a forest nook, gently swaying on the breeze. Right! Because it's suspended on silver chains from the tallest of trees. Of course! BUT the most luxurious part of the whole thing is the cushy swing suspended INSIDE the suspended castle, rocking Prince Rainbow deeper and deeper into his enchanted sleep. Nice twist, right? Join me for tonight's travails among the sun, moon, and even the stars! We follow one girl, unfortunately named "Fairer than a Fairy" by her grateful and doting father, the King. She gets kidnapped by the evil fairy, Lagree, who keeps her in a castle with only two chores: Keep the magical fire lit, and guard Lagree's own remaining eye and tooth. Fun! It is here that Fairer-than-a-Fairy meets the sonically attractive "Prince Rainbow" - named so because that is the only way he can appear to her! Long and short of it, Fairer and Rainbow fall deeply in love after years of conversation. Unfortunately, his time is running out, and he is taken away, but not before askingFairer to marry him. She then sets off on a quest to save him - crossing the dangerous Locrinos, (er... really his nice wife?) three fairy sisters who each bestow gifts, and to the most curious palace ever seen. All ends well - turns out Prince Rainbow... King Rainbow... is a VERY important person, after all! This tale, "Fairer than a Fairy," is from Andrew Lang's "Yellow Fairy Book" and is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's fairer fairytale!"Ascending the Vale, Teller of the Tales" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ This tale is from a compendium of tales, which is now in public domain. Later, she tells Mrs. Grose all about the encounter, and both women decide that yes, they have to write to the Flora and Mile's uncle in Harley Street, and get hime to come to Bly and sort the ghostly mess out. The governess tries to start the letter, but goes and hovers outside of Mile’s bedroom instead. She and he talk more openly about all the creepiness, but not really? It’s still cat and mouse. She threatens that she is writing the uncle, and Miles is like “good. It's about time you saw to my education.” She then admits that she wants to help him fight whatever it is that is troubling him so (it's the ghost of Peter Quint!), but then Miles screams, it gets really windy (even though the window is closed), and the candle goes out. A Frozen Fairytale: The Story of King Frost

Can you withstand the wrath and icy breath of King Frost? I probably couldn't, and I'm extremely glad to be reading this chilly frosty tale from a blanket fort of my own! BUT it is in line with the snowy wintery weather that is creeping up, so grab some hot cocoa and join me for tonight's fairy tale: "The Story of King Frost!" Come for the story, stay for the prophetic talking barking doggie!Once upon a time there was a wicked stepmother, who loved her own daughter so much, but cared little for her husband's daughter. Ah yes, how well we know this tale! BUT this one has a wintery twist! I was getting "Snow Queen" and "Frozen" vibes very very strongly through this reading. Anyway, we follow a young kind girls who gets dumped off in the forest to freeze (by her father! A Creepy Coraline Origin Story: "The New Mother"

Trick or Treat? Happy Spooky Season, Friends and Fiends! I do hope you consider today's storytelling a treat! I'm so excited to share it with you, as it is kinda creepy in the "Coraline" "Other Mother" kind of way! I do believe Neil Gaiman (author of "Coraline") took some inspiration from this particular creepy tale. This understandable upsets their sweet real mother, and she threatens to leave them to The New Mother, who has glass eyes and a long wooden tail, if they do not change their behavior! Will they turn out good? Will they be bad enough to see the dancers from the pear drum girl? Is this New Mother just as bad as Coraline's Other Mother? This story, Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 10: The Lobster Quadrille" is read in a soft voice, with some commentary, and set to some light and soft background music.
