“ The reasoning of AI is unlikely to take the place of district court judges – those trial court judges who make factual determination based on the demeanor of the witnesses and so many more visible cues. So too, they are unlikely to replace Supreme Court judges, since much of the Justices do is decide when they ought to change the rules and replace one rule of interpretation with another – delegating this decision to a computer is no different than delegating the role of Congress to AI and is unlikely. On the other hand, the strengths of AI reasoning could take the place of United States Court of Appeals judges, who are (1) rigidly bound by precedent, (2) functionally interchangeable with each other, (3) randomly assigned to cases, (4) sit in panels, and (5) do almost all their work based on a written record. A Yeshiva of Newark Podcast Re-Release Rabbi Kivelevitz uses the secondary crisis of crowding in summer vacation spots during Covid 19,as a pretext to revive his old debate with Rabbi Worch over eliminating the notion of a long summer vacation from school.Throughout the last century there have been calls to alter a system based on an outmoded agrarian society where children were needed for labor in their parents fields.The system of the long stretch of school year followed by months of idleness for many disadvantaged children has already had severe consequences on America's educational standing in the world.Rabbi Kivelevitz points out how the adoption of this model into Jewish life consistently runs counter to the mourning period of the Three Weeks,and builds unrealistic summer hopes and demands by children for the families to engage in long expensive trips.Rabbi Worch counters by extolling the bonding that occurs between parents and children over this long extended period.He further states that children need to harbor dreams of an amazing extended summer as an incentive to apply themselves properly.Kivelevitz cites the positive effect on energy use staying closer to home will have during abbreviated vacations staggered throughout the year.Another result,he claims will be greater familiarity with persons in your immediate community, a solid recipe for more proactive positive citizenry.Worch believes that these plans are unrealistic and would not be accepted anyhow.Kivelevitz points to the changes society has absorbed so quickly during the pandemic as proof that if persons realize how crucial change is they can make it happen with alacrity.After listening to the program-please forward your views on the summer shake-up proposition of Rabbi Kivelevitz and how you are making use use of these weeks of relaxation within the confines of the health emergency that still rages.Please leave us a review or email us at [email protected] This podcast has been graciously sponsored by JewishPodcasts.fm.  Alexa, and Friends as Ladies in Waiting Created by Men: Implications & Fallout  The common assignation of the feminine gender to these entities which essentially manage the households of so many is the take-off point of a socio-cultural discussion of the history of gender choices for various family roles.  Recounting that war directives to fighter pilots as well as propaganda (Tokyo Rose) usually made use of a femaleradio broadcaster addressing soldiers, R. Kivelevitz notes the sexist aspects of some of the implicit stereotypes and the feminist reactions to them.  Prof. Juni outlines the developmental logic of stereotyping women as nurturing and forgiving while men are typicallyplaced into authoritative capable, and punishing roles, noting the consistency of this role division in Victorian and Protestant literature.  Expanding the analysis to GPS and Smart Homes, R. Kivelevitz notes there has been feminist pushbacks which have tried to promote gender-neutral personas in the voice apps -- even as some have advanced a tone of impersonality to enhance an authoritative tone -- but that these efforts have not gained traction.  R. Kivelevitz outlines a number of negative repercussions of these Ladies in Waiting, ranging from invasion of privacy, to incursions on personal autonomy and agency on one’s own life-space,to loss of personal boundaries, to rendering people into lazy beings to the atrophy of initiative / creativity to a diminution of veritable interpersonal interactions/ relationships. He also notes the harmful effects engendered by consumersabusing these “assistants” as a means of expressingharmful antisocial motifs which they would otherwise self-censor. Dr. Juni takes an opposite approach from a psychodynamic lens, seeing such “negative interactions” as a form of psychodrama where people can vent their frustrations in a relatively acceptable venue.  Prof. Juni is one of the foremost research psychologists in the world today. He has published ground-breaking original research in seventy different peer reviewed journals and is cited continuously with respect by colleagues and experts in the field who have built on his theories and observations. He studied in Yeshivas Chaim Berlin under Rav Yitzchak Hutner, and in Yeshiva University as a Talmid of Rav Joseph Dov Soloveitchik. Dr. Juni is a board member of the Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists and has regularly presented addresses to captivated audiences. Associated with NYU since 1979, Juni has served as Director of PhD programs, all the while heading teams engaged in cutting-edge research. Professor Juni's scholarship on aberrant behavior across the cultural, ethnic, and religious spectrum is founded on psychometric methodology and based on a psychodynamic psychopathology perspective. He is arguably the preeminent expert in Differential Diagnostics, with each of his myriad studies entailing parallel efforts in theory construction and empirical data collection from normative and clinical populations. Professor Juni created and directed the NYU Graduate Program in Tel Aviv titled Cross-Cultural Group Dynamics in Stressful Environments. Based in Yerushalayim, he collaborates with Israeli academic and mental health specialists in the study of dissonant factors and tensions in the Arab-Israeli conflict and those within the Orthodox Jewish community, while exploring personality challenges of second-generation Holocaust survivors.
