Ep 77Week 1 Preview: Zeke's back, AB is not
In this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon tackle some of the biggest news of the NFL ahead of Week 1, and you’d be hard-pressed to find bigger news than Antonio Brown’s supposed, impending suspension. After a reported altercation between AB and Raiders GM Mike Mayock, it seems like any wishes fantasy gamers had of a resurgent AB in Oakland are going up in smoke. Before they get to AB, Jerry Jones gave Ezekiel Elliott the richest RB-contract in NFL history, and the star runner is set to take the field in Week 1. Our experts discuss the fantasy fallout of Zeke’s return, including the subsequent dimmed outlook for Tony Pollard (0:20).Also in the news, OBJ is still being bothered by his hip injury (7:15). What can fantasy owners expect out of the electric receiver? From one stud receiver to another, Julio Jones' status for opening weekend is also in question (9:30). To wrap up the receiver talk, Matt & Liz discuss the latest soap operatics from Oakland's erratic Antonio Brown (15:15).Liz and Matt are then joined by Yahoo’s very own, The Reverend, Andy Behrens. They reveal some of their boldest predictions for 2019, including Andy’s call of Larry Fitzgerald leading the NFL in receptions, Liz expecting Jimmy Garoppolo to finish as a top-15 fantasy QB, and Matt predicting that Miles Sanders ultimately outscores fellow rookie running back, David Montgomery, on route to a top-15 finish (20:50).Finally, they wrap up the show with a preview of Week 1, focusing in on Lions/Cardinals, Steelers/Patriots, Chiefs/Jaguars and Rams/Panthers (44:00).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Andy @AndyBehrens See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 76All those crazy Texans trades, plus PPR receiver roundup
In this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon call each other early on Labor Day morning to go over the weekend's whirlwind roster moves starting with the one guy who can't quite decide if he wants to show up for work this week: Ezekiel Elliott (1:00).They keep it in Texas and move to the Houston Texans' bevy of trades which saw them lose Jadeveon Clowney but add Laremy Tunsil, Kenny Stills and Carlos Hyde. Liz & Matt analyze this suddenly new-look Texans offense (4:55).In other weekend moves, Liz & Matt discuss the Kansas City Chiefs signing LeSean McCoy (13:40) and the Patriots shuffling of Josh Gordon and Demaryius Thomas (18:50).Next up, our experts take a deep dive into the players who are often overlooked in the wide receiver landscape, but can prove to be PPR assets this fantasy season. The slot receivers who often don’t get the star treatment of their outside-counterparts but who do a lot of the dirty work on the field. Liz and Matt talk about the fantasy outlooks of slot receivers like Adam Humphries, Hunter Renfrow, Cole Beasley, Trey Quinn, Jamison Crowder, and Willie Snead (21:05).Finally, they wrap up the show taking a pair of listener voicemails on what to do in the fifth round of drafts and the oddities of return yardage leagues (39:45).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 75Overvalued/undervalued, McKinnon stays sidelined and AFC East preview
Another day, another curveball for the 49ers backfield. After reports that Jerick McKinnon is suffering a setback in his ACL recovery, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the San Francisco backfield and how, while the news is disappointing, it actually adds clarity to the previously foggy RB situation (1:10).Later, our experts are joined by Christopher Harris of HarrisFootball.com to debate players whom they’re wayyyy off the consensus on (6:40). Some of these players include Mark Ingram and Stefon Diggs (who our experts are higher on than most) and James Conner and Kyler Murray (lower on than the consensus). Our experts then preview the AFC East New England Patriots (33:30), New York Jets (39:30), Buffalo Bills (45:20) and Miami Dolphins (49:20).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 74Luck retires, Cam's foot, Lamar Miller's ACL and NFC East preview
To the surprise of pretty much the entire sports world, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck announced that he was retiring from football on Saturday, August 24. If you can imagine the shockwave Luck’s retirement made throughout the NFL, then the reverberations his decision have made and will continue to make in fantasy football are just as big. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon break down the stunning events in this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast (0:30).Jacoby Brissett will now be the starting QB of the Colts. Liz and Matt give their thoughts on Brissett being a viable fantasy option now that he’s at the helm of this offense. And speaking of which, what does this all mean for the fantasy weapons of Indy? Big names like T.Y. Hilton, Marlon Mack, and Eric Ebron all have to be viewed in a different light in fantasy drafts (12:40).Elsewhere in the NFL, Cam Newton went down with a sprained left feet during the Panthers third preseason game against the Patriots. Lots of optimism surrounded Newton after he showed off a new throwing motion and some pretty deep ball completions in training camp. Panthers GM Marty Hurney said the team is “cautiously optimistic” that Newton would be ready by Week 1. Liz and Matt give their thoughts on the matter (21:15).The Houston Texans' Lamar Miller also went down with an injury over the weekend and the worst was confirmed, as he was placed on the IR with a torn ACL. Matt & Liz discuss the confusing RB situation in Houston and ask whether the Texans' starter is even on their roster right now (22:45).Our experts then preview the NFC East New York Giants (27:50), Washington Redskins (40:30), Philadelphia Eagles (44:20) and Dallas Cowboys (50:40).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. We're only about 13 days from season kicking off in Chicago, but who can even focus on the upcoming NFL season when the XFL is back, baby! Liz Loza & Matt Harmon briefly grade the new XFL team names and logos (1:05) before opening the show for real by taking a listener question about boom-or-bust players (4:30).In discussing John Brown, Tre'Quan Smith, Adam Humphries, Marvin Jones, Tyrell Williams, Damien Williams and Jared Cook, they talk about some high-risk/high-reward options, the types of variances that exist with theses players and also some floor-play options.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Later, Matt & Liz are joined by none other than Yahoo Fantasy’s very own Scott Pianowski to discuss strategies for fantasy owners heading into auction drafts (16:30).Our experts then preview the AFC West Oakland Raiders (28:45), Denver Broncos (38:20), Los Angeles Chargers (43:00) and Kansas City Chiefs (49:30).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. They discuss the fantasy outlook for the troubled wideout and the bare cupboard of Patriots pass-catchers.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Later, Matt & Liz discuss a few guys who are in the news for a myriad of reasons, like Case Keenum being named the Week 1 starter in Washington (5:50), D.K. Ep 71Andrew Luck's mysterious injury, 4 WRs to avoid and AFC South preview
Well, this isn’t good. After a report that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck would probably not play the entire preseason this year because of a calf injury, Colts’ owner Jim Irsay said it’s a bone issue. And before talking about this “small little bone,” Irsay referenced Kevin Durant (we all remember what happened to KD’s Achilles in the NBA Finals) and how everyone is erring on the side of caution after the new Brooklyn Net’s injury.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]This is obviously not the news fantasy football gamers want to hear in regards to Luck. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon try to make sense of it all in this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast. Is it his calf? Is it his ankle? What “small bone?” Luck is one of the few quarterbacks who can actually challenge Patrick Mahomes for the title of top fantasy QB in 2019, as Luck’s situation in Indy is arguably the best it’s ever been since he was drafted. Yet, what does this injury mean for his fantasy value (1:20)?After discussing this bit of bad Luck (get it?), Josh Norris of RotoWorld calls in to help Matt and Liz put some players on notice. They warn fantasy owners about the likes of Nelson Agholor, Rashaad Penny, Dante Pettis, Sammy Watkins and Jarvis Landry (7:00).Josh and our experts then preview the AFC South Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and aforementioned Indianapolis Colts for fantasy (28:00).To wrap up the show, Matt & Liz take a listener voicemail about the Los Angeles Rams confounding backfield situation (47:10).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 70Pre-season week 1 overreactions and NFC South preview
Well, we’re just about to enter the second week of the NFL preseason, and already the fantasy hype meters for quite a few players have either skyrocketed or plummeted. You can imagine the overreactions that come from all that. So it is fantasy overreaction day on this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast. [Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]But before they can get to preseason overreactions – Liz Loza & Matt Harmon analyze the great Antonio Brown helmet overreaction of 2019 (0:25).Back to some impressive preseason performances, Liz & Matt discuss the Friday night 84 yard, 1 TD performance from James Washington — who is battling for a top-3 WR spot with the Steelers — and is now slated to go the Hall of Fame after his performance against the Buccaneers. They also use the weekend's games to anoint Royce Freeman, Dexter Williams, Rashard Higgins, Jamison Crowder and Spencer Schnell to the HOF...or at least discuss their fantasy value for this season (10:35).Also on the show, Matt gets all upset about the Duke Johnson trade to the Houston Texans (30:35)Next, Liz and Matt continue their divisional previews with their roundup of the NFC South New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (38:48)Finally they take some listener voicemails including one from a very frustrated fantasy commish struggling with the yearly August task of finding a time for his league to draft (55:20).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 69Should you avoid drafting Ezekiel Elliott & Melvin Gordon?
Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are joined in this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast by a familiar face (and very familiar voice), the Big Noise himself, Brad Evans! Before they can get to the regularly scheduled program, Liz, Matt and Brad have the great David Montgomery debate of 2019 (1:00). Friendships will be tested. Minds will be opened. Chicago running backs will be discussed.Next, they dissect one of the looming stories of fantasy draft season: The major holdouts of Melvin Gordon and Ezekiel Elliott (8:45). We already went through a tough year (or lack thereof) with Le’Veon Bell last season, and nobody wants to deal with that again.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]So, our experts discuss how to manage holdouts in fantasy. As the holdouts cause the running backs to fall in drafts, when is it the right time to scoop them up?Speaking of running backs, Liz, Matt, and Brad discuss the runners of Round 1 (19:45). How many should go in the round? Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, and David Johnson seem like virtual locks, but what about the likes of James Conner, Melvin Gordon, Le’Veon Bell, Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb, Dalvin Cook — and even Todd Gurley? Our experts finish up by previewing the AFC North Cleveland Browns (26:45), Baltimore Ravens (31:20), Pittsburgh Steelers (38:10) and Cincinnati Bengals (49:10).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Brad @YahooNoise See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 67Early injury reverberations, drumbeats, and Hollywood tales
Training Camp is in full swing, and players are already doing their best to show out. Unfortunately, not all is well. As players begin to up their intensity, so too does the risk of injury rise. We’re seeing some big names banged up already, with the biggest headline involving A.J. Green, who suffered yet another lower-body injury, this time to his ankle. He will reportedly not be on the field for a couple of regular season games. The Bengals have been hit hard by injuries to the O-line too — so what should fantasy gamers do about this team (3:50)?Liz and Matt help fantasy gamers sift through the early wave of injuries in this week’s fantasy football podcast.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Elsewhere in injury and transaction news, Matt and Liz cover the Lions cutting RB Theo Riddick and the health scares caused by Titans RB Derrick Henry and Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (22:15)On to a more positive note, the fantasy drumbeat continues to grow for key players (26:15). Curtis Samuel, a Harmon favorite, continues to shine in camp. Jordan Howard is reportedly getting first-team reps with the Eagles thus far, which may damper the thoughts of Miles Sanders’ truthers. Kalen Ballage continues to be a thorn in the side of fantasy owners waiting for that Kenyan Drake breakout season.Liz and Matt then bring up some true Hollywood tales, including that time Ryan Phillipe saved one of Liz’s kids, and who might be her fantasy savior this season (34:20).Oh, and before we go: With football season in full effect, we will be returning to twice-a-week episodes starting next week!Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 66Thirst-trappers, NFL villains, and player props
Let’s face it: Every single fantasy football draft season, we as fantasy gamers all fall in love with that one specific player that we become convinced is gonna go off. Whether it’s the hype or the analysis or the predictions, we’re certain that this player will take us to the fantasy promised land. And then it all goes to crap, and the player either does nothing or fails to meet any and all expectations. We get thirst-trapped.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]For many, the 2018 version of that thirst-trapper was Royce Freeman (sorry Brad). But hey, it happens to us all. People got thirsty for Freeman. So, who are people getting thirsty for this season? In this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon identify the players who fantasy gamers are set to be thirst-trapped by (4:30). They include Geronimo Allison, Darrell Henderson, Austin Ekeler, Derrius Guice, and Kenny Golladay, to name a few.Next, our experts talk about the experience of being at Comic-Con last week, where Marvel revealed a plethora of movies for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Thanos out of the picture, the MCU has a hole where villains should be, but the NFL and fantasy sure don’t.Yet, where there are villains, there’s the chance for redemption. So, Liz and Matt choose who the football villains of 2019 are and whether they deserve another shot (22:30). Are we to forgive the likes of Corey Davis, Leonard Fournette, Marquise Goodwin, Devin Funchess, and Trey Burton? Finally, Liz and Matt talk through some player props for the 2019 season (42:00).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 65Strange fantasy takes from the upside-down and 2019 NFL divisional futures
As much as summer is full of outdoorsy activities, it’s also a season to binge watch TV shows (the television and air conditioner are especially enticing when it’s 100 degrees outside). In this episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon investigate some fantasy takes through the lens of their latest obsession: season three of Stranger Things. They talk about some NFL takes that might be could be from the upside-down but might be more likely than you think, including:- how Royce Freeman could be Denver's top back this year (4:40)- why Tom Brady should be ignored in drafts (11:10)- why the Cardinals' run game will be more impressive than its new-look passing attack (17:25)- a claim that a certain ornery Giants WR could maintain fantasy relevance on an otherwise crappy team (26:00)[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Moving away from strange scenarios, Liz and Matt look to 2019 NFL future bets and go through some divisional winner odds, picking out some value picks and some stay-aways (31:40).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 64Melvin Gordon drama, late-round QB strategy and 2nd year breakout candidates
Fantasy Football players awoke to the news that stud running back Melvin Gordon was holding out against the Los Angeles Chargers in an attempt to receive a new contract. According to Gordon, he will not be reporting to camp until a new deal is made. If no deal is made, he will demand a trade!Matt Harmon and Liz Loza break this news down and much more in this week’s Fantasy Football Podcast episode (2:15).[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]If Gordon indeed lives up to his demands, does this affect your thoughts on his fantasy draft value? He’s been a perennial first-round talent the last couple of seasons, but as we’ve seen with Le’Veon Bell, a draft-day fall could be in the cards for the Chargers RB. On that same note, does Austin Ekeler become more than just a handcuff now?Liz and Matt then move onto quarterback strategies for fantasy drafts. They’ve preached waiting on a QB as opposed to investing a high pick on names like Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson too early. They talk about which QBs to target and which to avoid if you wait on QB until the late rounds (7:05).Our experts then return to the 2018 draft class, the class that gave us the likes of Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley. Liz and Matt take a long look at the class and see which now-second-year players — guys like DJ Moore, Sony Michel, Kerryon Johnson, and Hayden Hurst — are set to take a Mahomes-level sophomore leap this season (22:20).Finally, Liz and Matt reveal some early draft trends they’ve noticed from their time in the Scott Fish Bowl this year (46:25).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 63Best Ball is here — and let's declare independence from crappy takes!
Summer is here, and that’s not the only thing to get excited about. In this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon talk about the launch of Yahoo’s new game, Best Ball (1:50)! Yahoo Fantasy Best Ball launched on desktop with free public leagues and will be launching on mobile later this summer, along with private and paid leagues. If you’ve never played or never heard of Best Ball before, it’s a format that removes the week-to-week roster management and automatically starts your best players every week. Doesn’t get any more convenient than that. Best Ball highlights the best part of fantasy (the draft) and takes away the grind of the regular season.[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]You’ll draft 20 players overall and every week the highest scorers at each position will be automatically added to your lineup. That’s 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 FLEX & 1 DEF/ST (nope, no kicker). No adds, drops, or trades. Best Ball is about your drafting skills and your ability to construct strong rosters. And since it automatically chooses the highest scorers at each position, that means you won’t have to worry about that random Sunday where DeSean Jackson goes nuts for 170 yards and 3 TDs — on your bench.Next up in this episode, Liz and Matt wanted to talk a little bit about independence (20:15). With the 4th of July around the corner, they decide to declare themselves independent from all those fantasy football takes that suck. Things like not drafting a guy because he did nothing for you the year before. What fantasy football takes are you canceling this year?Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 62TE strategies, RB/WR 'stayaways' — and is Brett Favre coming back!? No.
So, how high are you drafting Brett Favre in your 2020 fantasy football drafts? By now you’ve no doubt come into contact with the random, now-deleted Instagram post from the man himself claiming to be coming out of retirement for the 2020 season. So, because why not, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon start this week’s fantasy football podcast trying to answer the question: Where should Favre be in the 2020 fantasy QB rankings? In more believable news, Kyle Rudolph — who was recently speculated to be a trade candidate — signed an extension with the Minnesota Vikings. So, with this new information, who is the more draftable Viking tight end: Rudolph, rookie Irv Smith, or neither?[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]On the subject of tight ends — which were such a headache in 2018 — Liz and Matt offer some general strategies for drafting them (4:35). Are they reaching for the top tier trio of Zach Ertz, Travis Kelce, and George Kittle, or are they waiting to fill the position? And if they wait, what are their thoughts on streaming tight ends week-to-week from the later rounds?Next up, Liz and Matt outline who they’re not only looking to avoid but who they’re staying away from in drafts at both running back (24:55) and wide receiver (. They split the positions by tiers and reveal who they will not be targeting (34:45).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 61To keep or not to keep Christian McCaffrey, 'Ma'am's,' and QB updates
In this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss what a “Fantasy Ma’am” is. A “Fantasy Ma’am.” Yes, Liz delves into ... whatever that is.Later, our experts deliver some quarterback news. Russell Wilson has come out and said he wants to play until he’s 45 (but will the Seahawks protect him enough to achieve that goal?). Andy Dalton apparently loves his new head coach, Zac Taylor, while Baker Mayfield is being drafted ahead of the likes of Matt Ryan and Drew Brees — are gamers getting too hyped on the Browns signal caller, or is the hype warranted?[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Liz and Matt got an interesting voicemail this week. A fantasy football gamer has been debating whether he should forego the 10th overall pick in his 10-player, full-PPR keeper league draft in favor of keeping stud running back, Christian McCaffrey.Run-CMC went nuts in fantasy last season, delivering first round value. And lest we forget, McCaffrey went viral earlier this year for showcasing Hulk-like arms, so maybe the best is yet to come? That said, this particular fantasy gamer is questioning keeping him and letting his draft pick go, especially considering that Carolina added Jordan Scarlett and Elijah Holyfield in the 2019 NFL Draft. What should he do?Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasyFollow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 60Breakout WR candidates and rookie RBs to watch out for
June is here, and we’re edging closer and closer to fantasy football draft season. Gamers and industry experts alike are already mocking, including our very own Liz Loza and Matt Harmon. Everyone has their own specific processes for getting themselves ready to draft. Reading material and tools aplenty exist, and Matt himself happens to be a pioneer of a popular one.In this week’s podcast episode Matt and Liz discuss exactly what Reception Perception is, how it works, and how it can help fantasy players with their wide receivers (7:40).Key things have stood out to Matt this year, like the massive gap between the Panthers WRs (13:50), the elite success of Calvin Ridley (24:50), and the truth of Amari Cooper as a Dallas Cowboy (24:50). Oh, and Michael Thomas had perhaps the best season Matt’s ever tracked over the last 5 years (30:10).[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Liz and Matt also delve deeper into the pool of lesser-known rookie running backs, talking about the likes of Benny Snell, RyQuell Armstead, and Dexter Williams (36:20).Oh, and Gerald McCoy signed with the Carolina Panthers (4:25) — any thoughts, 49ers fans?Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 59Industry mock drafts and the grey area between RB1s and 2s
We’re in the waning days of May, but it’s never too early to talk fantasy football, and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the offseason is being able to mock draft. Matt Harmon and Liz Loza have been taking part in some industry mocks lately, and they start off this week’s fantasy football podcast episode by talking about the drafts they’ve completed thus far (5:00).As you know, our fantasy football experts have been putting out their team previews for the 2019 season, and most recently they took on the Indianapolis Colts. Liz filmed a video in which she questioned whether Colts running back Marlon Mack can finish the season in the RB1 tier. Can he join the likes of Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, and Alvin Kamara? On that same note, which other running backs are worthy of the fantasy RB1 tier? Liz and Matt take on the backs who fall in that grey area between RB1 and RB2 including Mack, Damien Williams, James Conner, David Johnson, Melvin Gordon, Le'Veon Bell, Nick Chubb and Dalvin Cook (17:00).[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Finally, Liz and Matt tackle the over/under win totals for the AFC/NFC South (34:50) and the AFC/NFC West teams (41:50). Can the Rams and Chiefs repeat as double-digit victory division winners? Will Tampa Bay and Oakland reach .500?Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466).And please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 58Questionable WR groups, plus AFC/NFC North win totals
There are 32 teams in the NFL, yet how many of them boast a true WR1? Sure, the Texans have DeAndre Hopkins, the Falcons Julio Jones, but not every team is so lucky. Matt Harmon and Liz Loza address this and more in this week’s fantasy football podcast episode. Before we can get to that, we have to get to Liz' exciting weekend at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere party, schmoozing with all the biggest 2019 rookies (0:45). She gets into her Reddit-infamous photo with Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock and dishes the dirt on which rookie QB will now be known as 'the breadstick boy.'[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Back to those aforementioned wide receivers. The conversation began thanks to a voicemail message Matt and Liz received. The caller asked who is the most relevant wide receiver on the San Francisco 49ers: Dante Pettis, Deebo Samuel, or Jalen Hurd (15:00). Sure, the caller didn’t mention Marquise Goodwin (or Jordan Matthews), but it sheds light on a larger question regarding wide receiver groups lacking a true No. 1 target — a true X-receiver .Liz and Matt discuss some of these WR corps with unclear hierarchies including the Ravens, Bills, Patriots, Jaguars, Panthers, Cardinals, Steelers and Packers (19:00).Finally, Liz and Matt tackle the over/under win totals for the AFC-and-NFC North teams, and it seems like the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions will be the only teams on the wrong end of .500 (42:30).Remember to leave your voicemail for a future episode at 888-85-YAHOO (that's 888-859-2466)Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 57Talking Jets, RB rankings, AFC/NFC East win totals and special guest Boban Marjanović
You know, for a moment there, it seemed like the New York Jets were actually moving in the right direction. Their young quarterback, Sam Darnold, showed signs of potential greatness last season. They hired an offensive-minded head coach in Adam Gase. They signed Le’Veon Bell. The defense looks promising. And then they fired their general manager and vice president of player personnel. Suffice it to say, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon have some thoughts about the state of the Jets’ franchise in this week’s fantasy football podcast episode (0:20).[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]Elsewhere in the NFL, there are whispers of Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph being on the trade block. What with the Vikings’ cap space and their selection of rookie Irv Smith in the 2019 NFL Draft, Rudolph’s future with the team remains up in the air. Where would you like to see him land, were he to be traded?Liz and Matt currently have Rudolph in the late-teens on their TE draft rankings (12:15). They also talk about the state of their current running back draft rankings on this week’s episode (21:05).Moving from fantasy to reality, Liz and Matt try to predict over/under win totals for the NFC-and-AFC East teams (31:05).Normally, Liz and Matt would move onto answering their voicemails, but, in order to discuss something very important, a special guest joined them on this podcast episode:Philadelphia 76ers (very) big man, Boban Marjanović!Boban joined Liz and Matt to discuss the release of his new film, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum as well as his road to the NBA from Serbia (39:45).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 56Stock watch: Josh Rosen, Josh Jacobs, the Seahawks, Packers and more
With the 2019 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, we’ve been taking a long look at each team’s offseason acquisitions to gauge who got better, who got worse, and who stayed the same. In this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon continue to review the state of some key squads. And how could they talk team changes without mentioning the big trade the Miami Dolphins pulled off that sent quarterback Josh Rosen to the Sunshine State? Is there a chance Chosen Rosen can revive his career as a ‘Fin, or is he just a placeholder in Tankville (2:00)?Liz and Matt also discuss rookie runner Josh Jacobs who, after the unfortunate season-ending Achilles tear suffered by Isaiah Crowell, looks like the man in Oakland (12:40). Where will you draft him in fantasy this season?[Join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Football league for free today]In transactional news, there are rumors of Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper “teaming up” to try and get PAID by the Cowboys (17:40). In a new segment, Liz and Matt deliver a stock watch for NFL teams like the Seahawks, as well as the Falcons, Eagles, Packers, 49ers — who’s rising, who’s falling (22:15)?And in the same vein of a stock watch, Liz and Matt reveal the players whom they’re hearing a Jumanji drumbeat for (you remember that drumbeat, c’mon). Matt’s hearing it for Ronald Jones and James Washington, while Liz is hearing it for D’Onta Foreman (40:20).Don’t forget to leave a voicemail on a future episode of Liz and Matt’s Help Line by calling (888) 85-YAHOO or (888) 859-2466.If you missed Liz and Matt's AFC draft recap, check them out on the Yahoo Sports NFL Podcast. Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 54Scouting the incoming class of rookie wide receivers
The 2019 NFL Draft is next week. Football fans are hoping their team picks the player(s) who will take them to the next level. Fantasy football fans want to find out who, if any of these rookies, will be fantasy viable this coming season.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are here to help you get through it all in this week’s podcast episode. In previous podcast episodes, our experts have broken down the top tight ends, running backs, and quarterbacks. This week, they profile the top wide receivers ready to join the NFL.They talk Hollywood Brown (5:30), N'Keal Harry (17:10), A.J. It all depends on how the draft shakes out next week. They wrap up the show with a voicemail from a listener posing an interesting keeper question involving Deshaun Watson, Kerryon Johnson and Lamar Jackson and a salacious request for the hosts to play a round of Marry/Date/Kill (48:40).[Make sports predictions to win cash prizes with Yahoo Fantasy Slate. Ep 53Incoming rookie RBs, and is that a Gronk replacement?
The 2019 NFL Draft is right around the corner. Last week, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon broke down the biggest names at quarterback and tight end, and this week it’s time to look into fantasy football’s glamour position: Running Backs. In this week’s fantasy football podcast however, Matt is joined by Eric Edholm, who returns to Yahoo as our NFL Draft Analyst! Before they get to the draft talk though, the New England Patriots and New York Giants made some noteworthy moves. In the wake of Rob Gronkowski’s retirement, the Pats signed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (3:10), and of course he will deliver the same fantasy value as Gronk has always done (insert sarcasm here). The Giants, on the other hand, turned inward, signing wide receiver Sterling Shepard to an extension (7:10). Can he eat sans Odell Beckham, Jr., or will he be hindered by Eli Manning? The incoming running back class is led by Alabama’s Josh Jacobs, but Matt and Eric also discuss what promise (if any) the likes of Miles Sanders, Justice Hill, and Bryce Love will bring to both fantasy and reality (16:20).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Eric @Eric_Edholm See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 52Profiling top rookie QBs and TEs in the NFL Draft
We’re in April, and you know what that means. It’s time to talk the 2019 NFL Draft, and Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are more than ready in this week’s fantasy football podcast. Before they get into the nitty-gritty of it all, they circle back to last week, to discuss the Jordan Howard trade from the Bears to the Eagles (which Liz and Matt pretty much predicted, btw) (3:20).They also discussed the prospects of the Rams backfield potentially changing last week, and lo and behold, C.J. Anderson signed with the Lions (7:20). Will he be a factor in Detroit — and potentially a thorn in Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy owners’ sides?[It’s still not too late to join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league]Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s focus on the draft. Liz and Matt breakdown the top tight ends and quarterbacks set to join the NFL. The TE class is led by T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant (33:55), while the first QBs expected to be drafted are Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins (in no particular order) (11:00). Who will end up in the best situation — and who will provide the most fantasy impact?Don’t forget to leave a voicemail on a future episode of Liz and Matt’s Help Line by calling (888) 85-YAHOO or (888) 859-2466.Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 51What's going to happen with Jared Goff and Todd Gurley?
Now, we all know about the cringeworthy showing by the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl. Quarterback Jared Goff could pretty much do nothing against the New England Patriots. Now, it seems like the Rams don’t really know when they’ll extend Goff.On this week’s fantasy football podcast, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon examine the question of whether the Rams even want to extend their young QB (0:45)[Busted bracket? No problem. Make more tourney picks for free to win cash]Staying with the Rams, Liz and Matt dive into the fickle world of mock drafts, where some actually have the Rams selecting Alabama’s Josh Jacobs at the end of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft (8:00).Uh, Todd Gurley, anyone? We’re all familiar with the soap opera that occurred late in the season in regards to his injury. Could the Rams try to solidify the position with a draft pick? With all this talk about Goff and Gurley, are the Rams set to undergo a makeover sooner than we expect?[It’s still not too late to join or create a 2019 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league]Liz and Matt stay on the west coast, where the 49ers have a ton of backfield options, but who do we trust in fantasy (16:30)? Will it be Jerick McKinnon, returned from injury? Or how about Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert? Or maybe Tevin Coleman will be the one to lead this group?Elsewhere in the NFL, Jordan Howard was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, but Matt & Liz didn't know that at the time the episode was recorded. So instead, listen to their incredibly prescient takes on the former Chicago running back (20:00).Later, they hop on board the Chris Godwin hype train after Adam Humphries signed with the Titans (30:40). Speaking of hype, the Saints signed the resurgent Jared Cook which opens up a larger conversation Cook's value in the frustratingly shallow tight end market (25:55).A listener calls in asking if the Cleveland Browns have so much talent fantasy owners should be worried (36:00). Ep 50Taking a ride on the Tannehill-Fitzpatrick-Bortles-Foles QB carousel
As the last puzzle pieces of free agency come into place, Matt Harmon and Liz Loza start off the show this week by addressing a very serious voicemail from a distraught Giants fan driven to the brink of despair by GM Dave Gettleman (3:00).Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming! Matt and Liz are joined by Alex Gelhar, formerly of NFL Fantasy, to provide fantasy (and legal) insight through the show. And speaking of puzzles, a few puzzling moves trickled across the league as three, shall we say, less than good quarterbacks took a carousel ride to new locker rooms. Matt and Liz kick off the quarterback discussion by analyzing the trade of Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans to presumably back up Marcus Mariota (9:00), then look at the Miami side of the equation where Ryan Fitzpatrick was signed by the presumably tanking Dolphins (14:20).Also in the news, Rams fans were treated to news of the signing of their new backup QB, the immortal Blake Bortles (19:30), while the very mortal Tyler Eifert re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals (21:30).Moving to two former Packers, Randall Cobb signed a one year deal with the Dallas Cowboys (24:20) and any dreams of Jordy Nelson pairing with Antonio Brown were shut down as he was released by the Oakland Raiders. The crew discusses their favorite potential landing spots for Nelson and wonder if he could return to the green and gold (27:10).Lastly, Matt, Liz and Alex discuss Chris Conley signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars and who among that receiver corps seems more likely to establish a good rapport with newly signed QB Nick Foles (30:20).[Best bracket wins $1M: Enter our free contest now! | Printable bracket]Leave a voicemail on a future episode by calling (888) 85-YAHOO or (888) 859-2466.Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 49Breaking down Brown, Beckham, Bell and all those crazy free agency moves
In last week's podcast episode, we pondered the idea of whether the Raiders could make a splash and add either Le'Veon Bell or Antonio Brown. Well, they got one of 'em!Yahoo Sports’ Liz Loza and Matt Harmon kick off this week’s podcast with the major moves at the start of 2019 NFL Free Agency, without a doubt headlined by the trades of elite wide receivers Odell Beckham, Jr. (1:30) and Antonio Brown (14:30).OBJ! TRADED! TO THE BROWNS! Still can't believe it.But those weren't the only moves made. The Buffalo Bills made a number of moves to help out Josh Allen (35:00), not to mention Le'Veon Bell being "back in the green." (22:13)Oh, and the Lions seem to be trying to build the Patriots of the Midwest ... keyword "trying." (33:25)And there's so much more Liz and Matt try to make sense of this week (37:05).We also have another segment of Liz and Matt’s Advice Line (44:40), where they answer your voicemails about anything: fantasy football, food, dogs, kids, relationships, etc. Hear your question on a future episode by calling 888-85-YAHOO.Don't forget about the Yahoo Sports Best Bracket Millionaire contest. Ep 48Combine impressions, free agency hopes and pressing questions for the AFC + NFC North
The scouting combine is over; now 7 weeks of speculation begins as to where the 2019 class of rookies will land and how the draft will be affected by free agency and trades reshuffling the deck. Will Kyler Murray go first overall? If so, where will Josh Rosen be traded? Could the ever-erratic Raiders make a splash and land Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown?Yahoo Sports' Liz Loza and Matt Harmon kick off this week's podcast with a discussion about the major news stories coming out of this year's combine: where Josh Rosen should be traded, this years' crazy class of WRs and even more impressive crop of defensive players (3:40).Next they discuss a few key free agents who could be wearing new unis by the end of next week: Adam Humphries, DeSean Jackson, Golden Tate and Le'Veon Bell (15:00).Later, Matt wraps up his series of pressing questions for each team in the league, starting with the Browns, Bengals, Steelers and Ravens in the AFC North (23:45) and closing with the Lions, Packers, Vikings and Bears of the NFC North (38:00).The show closes with a brand new segment: Liz and Matt's Advice Line (49:55). They answer your voicemails about anything: fantasy football, food, dogs, kids, relationships, etc. This week Liz answers a question about the time she was almost cast in the cult classic, "The Room." Don't worry, the tale has a moral with universal applications. Hear your question on a future episode by calling 888-85-YAHOO. This week, they tackle the fifth and sixth additions to her list, Tevin Coleman (12:00) and Drew Brees (18:10). Ep 45Flacco the Bronco, Le'Veon Bell, and questions for the AFC East
John Elway got his man ... I guess. The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens completed a trade deal earlier this week that accomplished two things:One: The Joe Flacco era in Baltimore is over, and the offense now belongs to Lamar Jackson. Two: The Broncos are expected to shop Case Keenum, handling the reins of the offense over to Flacco.Sure, Flacco has history with the Denver coaching staff, but was it the right move for a franchise desperate for a fix at QB?Liz Loza, Dalton Del Don, and Matt Harmon break down that big trade (which won't go into effect until March 13) on this week's podcast episode (3:00).They also discuss the controversial signing of Kareem Hunt by the Cleveland Browns, and what it means for the fantasy outlooks of Hunt and 2018 darling, Nick Chubb (11:30).New this week was the start of Liz's offseason column examining the 10 most interesting players to monitor. She started off with Washington running back Derrius Guice (20:30), and this week the team will discuss Guice along with her latest edition, Le'Veon Bell (25:30).Our experts also take a deeper look at Matt’s weekly major fantasy questions column, where he breaks down the biggest issues each team in every division is facing this offseason. This week, they’ll take a look at the Jets, Bills, Dolphins, and Super Bowl-winning Patriots in the AFC East (30:00). They’ll discuss whether Buffalo can stabilize Josh Allen, whether Sam Darnold will get the right help, who will stand next to Tom Brady on offense next season, and so much more. Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes onTwitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Dalton @daltondeldon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 44Fighting that Super Bowl hangover, plus NFC South questions
Well, the 2018 NFL season is officially over. The New England Patriots triumphed over the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3, in the Punt Bowl ...... Sorry, meant Super Bowl. But anyway, Tom Brady got his sixth ring, Julian Edelman won MVP — and became the subject of an interesting Hall of Fame debate — and the Rams are left wondering what went wrong.Liz Loza, Dalton Del Don, and Matt Harmon break down the big game in this week's podcast, including where the Rams go from here, what in the hell is going on with Todd Gurley and what his suspicious postseason absence does to his fantasy stock. Our experts also take a deeper look at Matt's weekly major fantasy questions column, where he breaks down the biggest issues each team in every division is facing this offseason. In last week's podcast episode, they discussed the AFC South (14:20).This week, they'll take a look at the Buccaneers, Falcons, Saints, and Panthers in the NFC South. They'll discuss whether New Orleans can get Drew Brees a tight end, whether Cam Newton will get help, is there still more to be had with Calvin Ridley, and so much more. Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Dalton @daltondeldon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 43Super Bowl player props and the fate of kickers
This week’s podcast was recorded live from the Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference in Tampa, Florida, where Matt Harmon was joined by both Andy Behrens and Dalton Del Don.Matt, Dalton, and Andy talk about the conference itself, giving their thoughts on what was featured during the two-day event. They also share their thoughts on this Sunday's Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots (4:45).Speaking of which, there's a plethora of player props for SB LIII. Our experts give their picks for a few of them like, say, O/U 49.5 rushing yards for "baby weight" C.J. Anderson (10:45)?Last week, Andy wrote an insightful piece in defense of the fantasy kickers, and our experts further go into that discussion on this episode. What do you think: should the position be removed, or spared (25:05)?Finally the guys wrap up discussing the AFC South and what the Jaguars, Colts, Titans and Texans need to do to improve in 2019 (33:50).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Dalton @daltondeldonFollow Andy @andybehrens See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 42Early Super Bowl predictions and way too early 2019 running back rankings
This week's podcast is live from the Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference in Tampa, Florida, and Liz Loza is joined by both Scott Pianowski and Brad Evans to break down what's to come in 2019 fantasy football. But first, Liz, Scott, and Brad talk about the big Super Bowl matchup on the horizon between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams — who ya got?Earlier this year, Liz spoke to Matt Harmon and Dalton Del Don to ask them about their 2018 fantasy season. This time, she poses the same questions to Scott and Brad: What went wrong, what went right, and what are they looking to do differently as analysts in 2019?Our experts also break down their way-too-early 2019 fantasy running back rankings, discussing everyone from Le'Veon Bell and Nick Chubb, as well as Todd Gurley's not-set-in-stone status as being the first RB off the board this upcoming season (20:00).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Scott @scott_pianowskiFollow Brad @YahooNoise See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 41Where will Nick Foles land?
Our experts discussed the coaching carousel on last week's fantasy football podcast, and it would seem like the final vacancies are filling quick. The Jets hired former Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase, while former Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is taking his talents to Jacksonville. The Bengals and Broncos also made coaching changes, as well as the aforementioned Dolphins and Vikings.Liz Loza, Matt Harmon, and Dalton Del Don discuss those hires and much more on this week's podcast episode. Among the biggest news is Nick Foles' fate outside of Philly. With the Eagles being eliminated from the playoffs, his future is all but sealed. The question now is, where will he end up (15:50)?Our experts also break down their way-too-early 2019 fantasy rankings, discussing everyone from Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen to Jimmy Garoppolo and Cam Newton (21:35).Liz, Dalton, and Matt also offer up a couple of daily fantasy bargains and fades for championship Sunday (30:10).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Dalton @daltondeldonFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 40The coaching carousel is spinning at full speed
Well, the divisional round is set, with the Cowboys facing the Rams and the Eagles vs. Saints.Over in the AFC, the Colts will face the Chiefs, and the Chargers will face the Patriots.Who ya got?Elsewhere in football news, the holes left behind by Black Monday are quickly being filled. One that launched more than a few headlines was the hiring of Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury will now be the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals after a hilariously short stint as the head coach at USC.Many people know Kingsbury from his days coaching Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, so what does this mean for Josh Rosen's 2019 fantasy outlook (or *gasp* maybe Kyler Murray's outlook?)Liz Loza, Matt Harmon, and Dalton Del Don discuss Kingsbury's hiring and the new coaching hires for the Packers, Buccaneers, Browns, Jets, Broncos and Falcons in this week’s podcast episode (2:30).Liz, Dalton, and Matt also offer up some divisional-round weekend bargains and fades for Daily Fantasy (31:15).Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Dalton @daltondeldonFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 39Year-End Recap: What went right, what went wrong in 2018
The Yahoo fantasy team is feeling introspective as of late. And why not, considering the 2018 fantasy football season came to an end last week. We're now looking ahead to the real-life playoffs, to DFS, and the 2019 season of fantasy as well.As such, Liz Loza, Matt Harmon, and Dalton Del Don decide to ask themselves the hard questions on this week's podcast episode. What went wrong (like whiffing on Leonard Fournette) this fantasy season? What went right? (17:15)What will they do differently as fantasy experts in 2019? And who will be the first three picks to come off of draft boards this year (or rather, who will come after Todd Gurley at No. 1)?But before they get to all that, our experts discuss some of the biggest news of the week. Of course, we can't talk news without digging into the chaos going on with Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Will the team really move on from the star? (3:30)They also ask you which 2018 breakout players will let fantasy owners down in 2019. Many identified names like Lamar Jackson and Phillip Lindsay as potential disappointments this year. (34:40)Liz, Dalton, and Matt then offer up some wild-card weekend bargains and fades for Daily Fantasy. Ep 38Week 16 Wrap-Up: C.J. Anderson, Elijah McGuire and Jamaal Williams decide your fantasy championship
Week 16. For the majority of leagues, the fantasy football championships. Seasons came to an end today. Trophies won or lost.Sure, there's Monday night, but many 'ships were secured on Sunday. Speaking of Sunday, most of the day was dominated by the news of Todd Gurley not playing against Arizona. C.J. Anderson started in Gurley's stead and delivered a league-winning performance — were you able to snag him off the waiver wire? (1:00)Speaking of league-winning performances, the Saints-Steelers game turned out to be a fantasy wonderland. Antonio Brown delivered another legendary outing, while Alvin Kamara erupted on the ground and through the air. Fantasy players with assets in that game definitely had a chance in their title games. (21:20)Liz Loza, Matt Harmon, and Scott Pianowski discuss those performances and more in this week’s fantasy wrap podcast. They also asked you for your fantasy football resolutions for 2019. As you can imagine, many people are averse to drafting David Johnson again, while others are looking to secure the services of a legit tight end (George Kittle, anyone?). (26:00)In the world of college football, our experts Dan Wetzel, Pat Forde and Pete Thamel will be doing a live edition of the Yahoo Sports College Podcast the Friday before the National Championship game at the Uproar Brewing Company in San Jose, California. Ep 37Week 16 Preview: Are you ready to win a fantasy championship?
It is finally here. 15-and-a-half long weeks have led us to this point. It's nearly time for the 2018 fantasy football championship round!Did you make it to the title game?If so, you're probably dealing with a lot right now. Injuries, tough matchups, and regressing players have all come to the forefront of the fantasy playoffs. James Conner might not play again, and now Todd Gurley and DeAndre Hopkins — practically league-winning assets — are both dealing with injuries.Drew Brees and Michael Thomas have been anything but high-scoring the last couple of weeks, as the offense has practically shifted into a gritty, clock-killing unit buoyed by an improving defense. That said, the Saints are returning home, where fantasy fireworks have been the norm.Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs stars will travel to Seattle, where it's always tough to play — are you downgrading any of them?Liz and Dalton break down those and the other big Week 16 happenings in this latest podcast episode. (6:40)They also asked you about which players whom you've counted on all season — but are benching for the fantasy championship. Aaron Rodgers is a name being shared, as well as none other than Mr. 100-Yards himself, Adam Thielen! (23:20)Of course, we can’t forget about Andy and Brad going at it over their Week 16 rankings, and there are some differing opinions about Derrick Henry. Ep 36Week 15 Wrap-Up: Vikings bounce back and Derrick Henry goes off again
The semifinals of the fantasy playoffs are nearly complete. Have you secured your spot in the fantasy Super Bowl? Or, did you suffer a terrible defeat at the hands of an oddly low-scoring Sunday? In fact, only two games featured a ton of points, and they were both blowouts (ARI@ATL, MIA@MIN). The majority of quarterbacks delivered quiet performances. The expected high-scoring affair between the Steelers and Patriots? Both relative fantasy disappointments for Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger.Minnesota, however, didn't suffer offensively at all. They finally delivered on the run game sans ex-OC, John DeFilippo. Dalvin Cook had inarguably his best game of the season, rewarding his fantasy owners' patience (if they had any left).Oh, and Derrick Henry went off again. Now the question is, what round will he be drafted in 2019?Dalton Del Don and Matt Harmon discuss those performances and more in this week's fantasy wrap podcast. They also asked you about which players — in such an important week — let you down the most. As many can imagine, the disappointment surrounding Andrew Luck and Saquon Barkley is IMMENSE. (18:20)Dalton and Matt then offer up a couple of pickup options for Week 16 — the championship round for most fantasy leagues! (24:30)In the world of college football, our experts Dan Wetzel, Pat Forde and Pete Thamel will be doing a live edition of the Yahoo Sports College Podcast the Friday before the National Championship game at the Uproar Brewing Company in San Jose, California. Ep 35Week 15 Preview: Conner still a question, Wentz shut down and a shakeup in Minnesota
For most fantasy football leagues, Week 15 marks the playoff semifinals. Yep, we're just one week away from the Super Bowl of fantasy. Did you make it this far?If you did, chances are you have a solid squad. If you didn't, pride is still worth fighting for!Yet, question marks remain on many a fantasy team, and they just keep emerging. James Conner did not practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Week 15. Conner owners looking for a backup will have to do some savvy picking-and-choosing, especially since there will be Saturday football this week.Carson Wentz might be shut down for the remainder of the season. Can owners looking for a backup trust Nick Foles? What does Wentz's back injury mean for Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffrey, and the rest of the Eagles' fantasy assets?Matt and Dalton break down those and the other big Week 15 questions in this latest podcast episode. They also asked you which advantageous matchups you were looking forward to the most. Dak Prescott against the Colts' questionable secondary was mentioned, but so was the fact that some advantageous matchups end up flopping terribly!Of course, we can’t forget about Andy and Brad going at it over their Week 15 rankings, and there are some differing opinions about Josh Allen.Matt and Dalton then wrap up with a couple bargains and fades for Yahoo Daily Fantasy. Ep 34Week 14 Wrap-Up: Missing the Saints and saying 'sorry' to Amari
Week 14 is all but done, and many fantasy players saw their hopes for a run in the playoffs come to an end. Odds are they faced Derrick Henry, but the Titans runner wasn't the only player to shock the masses. In a rather surprising turn of events, the Saints' offense has utterly sputtered two weeks in a row. In fact, Drew Brees has only thrown two touchdowns in his last two games compared to eight in Weeks 11 and 12 combined.Week 14 offered up as juicy a matchup as it gets (@ Tampa Bay), but Brees finished with 14.94 fantasy points; less than owners expected. Brees and the Saints get Carolina and Pittsburgh in the final two weeks of the fantasy playoffs. On the flipside, Amari Cooper had been, as a whole, underwhelming for much of the season. Then he joined the Cowboys, and then he erupted for 10 catches, 217 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14.Liz Loza, Scott Pianowski, and Matt Harmon discuss these unexpected performances and more on today’s fantasy wrap podcast. Our experts also asked you about the most tilting fantasy performances you experienced in Week 14. You can imagine how many people were affected by another eruption, courtesy of George Kittle (seven catches, 210 yards, one TD).Liz, Scott, and Matt then wrap up with a most stunning statistic that is par for the Week 14 course. A whopping 14 players scored touchdowns — those players were also owned in less than 1 percent of Yahoo leagues. Among them is James Develin, because of course. Our experts run down that list and see if there's anyone with any fantasy intrigue going forward. Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Scott @scott_pianowskiFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 33Week 14 Preview: Dealing with Conner, Sanders and a slew of late-season injuries
Well, this is it. The regular fantasy football season is in the books. Now, we look ahead at the tournament — the battle for all the marbles. If you made it this far, congratulations! Yet, it isn't all good news. Many fantasy teams in the playoffs were, in some form or fashion, affected by the wave of devastating injuries that have been occurring. It started with an injury to Melvin Gordon and continued on Sunday Night Football in Week 13, when James Conner went down. With Conner ruled out of Week 14, Jaylen Samuels entered the spotlight. Can he be trusted?Emmanuel Sanders owners lost him for the season earlier this week, thanks to a torn Achilles. The fantasy outlooks of Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, and Tim Patrick were drastically changed as a result.Liz and Dalton break down those and the other terrible losses in this latest podcast episode. They also asked you what high-floor, high-risk players you're being forced to start in the first round of the playoffs. Demaryius Thomas and Jarvis Landry are some of the fringe starters mentioned.Of course, we can’t forget about Andy and Brad going at it over their Week 14 rankings, and there are some differing opinions about Joe Mixon.Liz and Dalton then wrap up with a couple bargains and fades for Yahoo Daily Fantasy.Remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz: @LizLoza_FFFollow Dalton: @DaltondeldonFollow Brad: @YahooNoiseFollow Andy: @Andybehrens See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 32Week 13 Wrap-Up: McCarthy fired, Seattle continues to impress and a new backfield in KC
Just like that, the last regular Sunday action of the fantasy season is in the books. There were some unexpected results, but for the most part, fantasy players know where they stand. They're either in, or they're out (or they're clinging on by a thread, waiting for Monday Night Football!).The performances we saw on Sunday definitely played a part. Todd Gurley did Todd Gurley things, but Jared Goff disappointed. Russell Wilson continued scoring, while Josh Allen decided to out-rush a whole bunch of RB1s.The Packers also fired Mike McCarthy — a move many expected. A.J. Green and Greg Olsen suffered injuries again, with Olsen's being season-ending. The Chiefs also didn't miss a beat, sans Kareem Hunt.Liz Loza, Scott Pianowski, and Matt Harmon discuss all those subjects and more on today’s fantasy wrap podcast. Our experts then asked you which players who went late in fantasy drafts have become no-doubt starters in the playoffs. You know Nick Chubb is included, who's impressed ever since he became a starter.Liz, Scott, and Matt then wrap up with a few pickup options for Week 14.Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Scott @scott_pianowskiFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 31Week 13 Preview: Question marks for Bears, Bengals, Chargers and strategies to get you through the fantasy playoffs
Week 13. It's the last regular season slate for many Fantasy players. Some are lucky enough to already have secured a playoff spot. Many others are hanging on by a thread. A win, a loss, a met-point-threshold — all are important this week. Luckily, Liz Loza and Dalton Del Don are letting us in on some playoff strategies to implement.Of course you're starting Patrick Mahomes and Todd Gurley, but what about that FLEX position? But that’s not all Liz and Dalton discuss in this week's podcast episode. They also discuss the late-season injury fallout from across the league. How have the outlooks for Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and the rest of the Chargers' skill-position players after Melvin Gordon's injury? What alternatives do players look for now that Andy Dalton and Mitchell Trubisky are missing time? What does apparent A.J. Green's return mean for Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd? They’ve also asked you about the on-the-bubble starters you need to have a huge game in Week 13 — yes, we're talking James White and Corey Davis.Of course, we can’t forget about Andy and Brad going at it over their Week 13 rankings, and there are some differing opinions about Dalvin Cook.Liz and Dalton then wrap up with a couple bargains and fades for Yahoo Daily Fantasy.Remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz: @LizLoza_FFFollow Dalton: @DaltondeldonFollow Brad: @YahooNoiseFollow Andy: @Andybehrens See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 30Week 12: Wrap-Up: Melvin Gordon's injury puts fantasy playoff dreams in doubt
The Sunday action for Week 12 is in the can! This is it. Just one regular season week left for most fantasy leagues before the playoffs — are you ready? While some teams are in excellent position to dominate, others aren't. And those who have been led by Melvin Gordon now find themselves in a nightmarish situation. The Chargers were in the midst of a soon-to-be blowout victory over the Cardinals when Gordon — who almost didn't even start due to lingering ailments — went down. Initial reports suggested an MCL injury suffered by the star runner, but fantasy owners will have to wait until full confirmation to be sure. Our Yahoo fantasy experts discuss that and more on today’s fantasy wrap podcast. One of those subjects include the return of the Patriots offense, as Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski (at last!), Sony Michel, and Julian Edelman all had great fantasy days. Perhaps the bye week helped fix issues in the Evil Empire? Our experts then asked you which quarterback — with both Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes on bye and Drew Brees enjoying a long layoff — had the most surprising fantasy performance on Sunday (all hail Baker Mayfield!)Liz, Scott, and Matt then wrap up with a few pickup options for Week 13.Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Scott @scott_pianowskiFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 29Week 12 Preview: Rams-Chiefs, 3 Turkey Day games and players we're thankful for
Week 12's first slate of games begins on Thanksgiving. As such, it's only right that Liz Loza and Dalton Del Don take this podcast episode to discuss the fantasy players they're thankful for this year (not enough thanks to go around for Andrew Luck, TBH).But that's not all Liz and Dalton discuss in this early week episode. Of course, they have to dissect that game-changing Monday night matchup between the Chiefs and Rams — and what happened to Todd Gurley?!Our experts also dive into the three games on Turkey Day. Will Ezekiel Elliott continue his torrid stretch? How will injuries to Mitchell Trubisky and Kerryon Johnson affect Bears-Lions? Can Falcons-Saints match Rams-Chiefs? What will *gulp* Colt McCoy do against the Dallas D?They’ve also asked you about the players you're most worried about letting you down in Week 12 (is Carson Wentz going downhill?).Of course, we can’t forget about Andy and Brad going at it over their Week 12 rankings, and there are some differing opinions about Deshaun Watson.Liz and Dalton then wrap up with a couple bargains and fades for Yahoo Daily Fantasy.Remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz: @LizLoza_FFFollow Dalton: @DaltondeldonFollow Brad: @YahooNoiseFollow Andy: @Andybehrens See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 28Week 11 Wrap-Up: Saints prove it's not just about Chiefs-Rams
The fantasy playoffs are getting closer and closer. The more the season nears its finish, the more things become clear — while other things just continue to get muddled. Like the Titans — what is happening? The Marcus Mariota-led offense showed us so much the past couple of weeks only to completely fall apart against the powerhouse Colts.Speaking of powerhouses, Drew Brees and the Saints have pushed their way into the conversation for not only best team in the NFC, but best team in the league after they utterly dominated the Eagles.Speaking of muddled, who, pray tell, is Gus Edwards, and why did he break every Alex Collins-owners' hearts today? Our Yahoo fantasy experts discuss that and more on today's fantasy wrap podcast. One of the subjects they broke down were the blow-up performances by two rookie wideouts, D.J. Moore and Tre'Quan Smith. Moore and Smith also lead our experts' pickup options for Week 12, when two powerhouses, Kansas City and the Rams, will be on bye.Our experts then asked you which players brought you closer to — or farther from — the fantasy playoffs (thank you, T.Y. Hilton). Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Scott @scott_pianowskiFollow Dalton @daltondeldon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
