Ep 146Dissecting Josh Allen, Mahomes signs big, and welcome back Damien Williams
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Matt Harmon and Dalton Del Don are back to discuss all things fantasy and all things football on the latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] You might have heard — just might — that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and clearly otherworldy being Patrick Mahomes signed the richest contract in sports HISTORY. We imagine that the Chiefs read our team preview and said to themselves, “Yeah, he's pretty good.” But in all seriousness, how should fantasy managers approach the QB Deity and his surrounding team this year in drafts? (01:41)Elsewhere in Chiefs news, could it be that we’ve tossed Damien Williams to the side too rashly? According to his running backs coach,Williams is expected to have a “big year.” Does this mean trouble for super-hyped rookie, Clyde Edwards-Helaire? (07:10)One of the more polarizing players in 2020 fantasy drafts is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Matt and Dalton weigh in on if the Firebaugh, California native is an inaccurate scrambler who's being overrated in fantasy drafts or a future fantasy MVP. Ep 145Injuries, safety and sports in the time of Coronavirus
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Yahoo's fantasy analyst Andy Behrens chats with sports medicine physicians Dr. Sara Edwards and Dr. Gregory Horner for an episode that's a bit of a detour from our usual discussions on sleepers, waiver wire picks and receivers who are poised to break out to talk all things injuries and COVID-19.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] Dr. Edwards is the Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF, and she currently serves as a team physician for the City College of San Francisco, the University of San Francisco and the Oakland Ballet. Dr. Horner is the leader of the Tri-Valley Orthopedic Specialists’ hand surgery team in Pleasanton, CA and former wide receiver for the Northwestern University Wildcats football team.Andy, Dr. Horner and Dr. Edwards discuss the effects of COVID-19 on sports across the country, how a coronavirus-impacted preseason could mirror the 2011 NFL lockout-affected season which saw more injuries than usual, a look at the testing protocols professional and collegiate sports will be undertaking, whether long-terms effects are a concern for athletes and why you should really, really wear a mask.Follow Andy: @AndyBehrensCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 144Cam heads to New England, QB strategy, and late-draft targets
Welcome back to a new episode of the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza is joined by Scott Pianowski to talk all things football.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] And few things are dominating the football conversation more than news that Cam Newton had reached a deal with the New England Patriots. Our analysts discuss Cam’s outlook with the Patriots as well as his chances of producing in the 2020 fantasy football season. (0:30)We'll also compare the fortunes of Cam Newton in New England with Ben Roethlisberger, another QB coming off injury who can be had late in drafts. (2:30)And we take a look at our favorite picks in the later rounds of fantasy drafts, like Jordan Howard and Terry McLaurin, whose hype train we will continue to pilot until draft day. (12:15)While Coronavirus has put a damper on the usual news parade of players being in the best shape of their lives, Liz and Scott take a look at the fortunes of Evan Engram who makes his way back from a Lisfranc injury that hobbled him in 2019. He’s currently the sixth TE off the board, but is he worth the draft capital at that spot? (41:15)This year has been unlike any other, and fantasy sports have been directly affected. Liz and Scott talk some changes they’ve made (or will make) in their league settings to reflect the current state of affairs. Ep 143A shorter preseason, the Ravens offense and a Big Ben bounceback?
Welcome back to a new episode of the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are back to talk all things football.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] While training camps are expected to open on time, Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports that the NFL is discussing the viability of a full preseason slate, and we know the annual HOF game has been canceled. What will be the impact of a shortened ramp-up period on players? (0:33)Matt Harmon calls Ben Roethlisberger "one of the keys to fantasy football in 2020" since his health directly impacts the value of Juju Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and James Conner. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, said, "He's comfortable and pleased where he is. Some people who had the opportunity to work with him are impressed and pleased where he is. The medical experts are comfortable where he is and his readiness for 2020." Liz Loza's chats with an orthopedist says the prolonged break for Ben is a little bit good news and a little bit bad news for his expected value and the Steelers offense. (13:10)And elsewhere in the AFC North, one of the Steelers’ biggest rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, loom as division favorites, but do we need to worry about Lamar Jackson regressing? If potential regression is to be staved off, Lamar will need weapons to throw to. Can anyone other than Hollywood Brown and Mark Andrews step up in Baltimore? Or are there just not enough touches left once Brown, Andrews, and the rushing game with Lamar get theirs? At least we'll always have some early Miles Boykin coach-hype. (22:45)Plus, we'll get a player debate in before we get out of here: Is the fantasy community too pessimistic on the Rivers-less Keenan Allen? Ep 142Talking money-making quarterbacks and underrated wide receivers
Welcome back to a new episode of the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don to talk all things football. Some big football news came in the form of Dak Prescott signing the franchise tag in 2020. Now that he’s locked in for the season, will he be a top 3 fantasy quarterback this year? (1:40)Speaking of quarterbacks that are about to make a lot of money, Matt is working on a series titled, “Players that will tell the story of the season.” And one of the guys he’s looking at is Patrick Mahomes. It’s kind of wild to say this about an MVP and Super Bowl winner, but does Mahomes have an ever higher ceiling that we’ve seen? (7:40)Will a rising tide named DeAndre Hopkins lift all boats in the Arizona offense? (15:40)Elsewhere in fantasyland, Matt lists some underrated wideouts he likes this season (30:36): Terry McLaurin Diontae Johnson Marquise Brown Sterling Shepard Anthony Miller Curtis Samuel With a list of names like this, is there a reason to grab a WR early in drafts? Ep 141'Stick to sports,' Coronavirus concerns, and who will fill Deebo's shoes?
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza and Matt Harmon return after a brief hiatus with a new episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast to talk Coronavirus, Deebo Samuel's foot injury, and the idea of 'sticking to sports.'You might've noticed that for the past two weeks or so that we haven't had a show.In the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, and the ensuing protests which we support here, we felt wasn’t right to be joking and just focusing on fantasy football while we're all thinking about and facing the realities of systemic racism in the country. We want this show to be a place where we’re able to talk to each other honestly about what we're thinking, when it comes to fantasy football, but also beyond sports. So if you’re looking for a place where we just stick to sports, this podcast isn’t it.Dr. Anthony Fauci says that there shouldn't be a season without a bubble: "Unless players are essentially in a bubble — insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day — it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall." Liz shares some nuggets from her conversations with an orthopedist and epidemiologist about what to expect this season. And, one nugget of fantasy news, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel broke his foot recently and is expected to miss the start of the 2020 NFL Season. Ep 140Talking Packers, Bears, and second-tier RB options
Liz Loza is joined by none other than NFL Network’s Adam Rank on the latest fantasy football podcast![Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] Liz and Adam talk all things NFL, including Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones saying he “would love to be a lifelong Packer.”... Which is interesting, considering the Packers drafted rookie running back, A.J. Dillon. Liz and Adam share their thoughts on this backfield along with how they’d draft Jones this year. (03:25)They’ll also break down where Jones fits in their strategy along with fellow tier 2 RBs Josh Jacobs (11:57), Austin Ekeler (13:01), Miles Sanders (18:00), James Conner (26:10), and Devin Singletary (29:10) .We’ve been talking quite a bit about the Bears on this here pod, and since Adam is a Bears guy, he and Liz give their thoughts on the offense (along with a tweet from Adam stating he thought rookie tight end Cole Kmet was a good draft choice by said Bears!). (32:54)Finally, the experts run through some guys they like and don’t like for this fantasy football season, including Drew Lock and potentially lethal Denver Broncos (40:10), and Hunter Renfrow of the Las Vegas Raiders. Ep 139WR Rankings and Reception Perception 101
In this edition of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast, we’re flipping the script a bit and having Dalton Del Don throw questions at Matt Harmon and give us a sneak peek at this year’s Reception Perception![Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] But first, Dalton and Matt talk some of the major happenings in the NFL, including the Seattle Seahawks adding their 50th starting running back!Okay, in all seriousness, the Seahawks signed Carlos Hyde, and now their backfield consists of Hyde, Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, and Travis Homer. What does this mean for fantasy? (01:25)And later in the show, Matt Harmon explains the methodology and process behind Reception Perception. For those of you new to Reception Perception, Matt Harmon basically hunkers down while most of us are recuperating from the football season and reviews every route a wide receiver runs to see how successful they are in a wide variety of scenarios. Yes, every. Single. Route. (04:27)Here are some of the receivers Matt and Dalton discuss in today’s show:Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers (14:31)Stefon Diggs and John Brown, Buffalo Bills (20:42)Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (22:18)Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams (25:42)Odell Beckham, Jr., Cleveland Browns (27:54)A.J. Ep 138NFC West backfields and RB/TE rankings showdown
Running backs are almost always the talk of the town when it comes to early fantasy football projections and predictions, but there’s a pair of NFC West backfields that haven’t really been getting much attention, until now.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] While the backfield is San Francisco doesn’t have a true every down, big-name workhorse, it’s one that should have tons of potential value. Supposed RB1, Raheem Mostert, recently told the media that he’s bulking up so that he can handle 200+ carries this season. Are we buying the breakout for Mostert? (13:16)Elsewhere in the NFC West, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said, "We feel we've got three really good backs." "What we wanted to do was get a group that we felt really good about ... This enables us to say, 'We're not necessarily committed to any approach, it's a feel for the flow of the game.” That's not exactly a ringing endorsement to take Cam Akers early in fantasy drafts. (18:36)Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don discuss those backfields and much more on the latest fantasy football podcast.Matt and Dalton also debate some players they disagree with from their rankings; specifically, their running backs (24:02) like J.K. Dobbins and Derrius Guice, and tight ends like T.J. Hockenson and Austin Hooper (41:24). Next week, they’ll throw down over their QB and WR rankings![2020 Draft Rankings: Overall | QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | DST | Kickers]Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Matt: @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Dalton: See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 137The importance of continuity in an uneven offseason
With all the uncertainty surrounding the current state of affairs, continuity becomes paramount, and that is especially true for NFL rookies about to begin their first season or for free agents who are about to learn an entirely new system on an entirely new team.We don’t know what this offseason will bring, but one thing is for sure: Players who have continuity on their side are in a better position to succeed — and fantasy managers should take note!Liz Loza is joined by Andy Behrens discuss continuity and much more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]In NFL news, The Athletic's Connor Hughes suggests the Jets "can’t wait to unleash Chris Herndon" this upcoming season. Liz and Andy discuss the outlook of the Jets’ offensive pieces, including the returning Herndon, Sam Darnold, Le’Veon Bell, and newcomer Denzel Mims. (03:17)Speaking of continuity, a couple of veteran NFL quarterbacks have been trying to get things going with their top weapons. A less-hairy Ben Roethlisberger has been working out with JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner, and Ryan Switzer, while new-Buccaneer Tom Brady underwent a two-hour throwing session with Mike Evans, O.J. Howard, and five other teammates. (12:44)Liz and Andy discuss them and other teams and players benefiting from continuity — including Liz’s take on Jarrett Stidham and the Patriots — and the teams that might be lacking in chemistry from a full offseason:AFC East (17:36)NFC East (21:44)AFC North (24:47)NFC North (26:48)AFC South (33:14)NFC South (37:35)AFC West (49:30)NFC West (56:50)Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Andy @AndyBehrensCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 136Learning from burnt takes, and does anyone know how healthy Todd Gurley is?
We’ve all had predictions that turn out to be wrong. We’ve all had bad takes that come back to haunt us. It’s a part of life and the human need to try and make an opinion as close to a fact as possible. The key is to learn something from that burnt take.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon have had some of their own, and they discuss those takes and much more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]But first, we look at some of the news around the NFL. Falcons OC Dirk Koetter said about RB Todd Gurley that "The main question, that no one seems to know, is what is his health status?” If the OC doesn’t know ... who does? (01:41)Colts WR T.Y. Hilton recently said, "I want to be a Colt” in reference to his contract status ... which is not a sentence you need to say if a team already wants you back. Are we buying or selling Hilton in a Rivers-led offense? (10:10)Our Tennessee Titans 2020 preview went live, and our experts give their thoughts on Derrick Henry's chances of becoming the overall #1 running back for the year. (Hint: they're not high, but that doesn't mean you should avoid him this year.) (17:15)Most recently, Matt looked back at his failed 2019 takes on both Alvin Kamara and Davante Adams. Liz, too, had a burnt 2019 take, on David Johnson. They discuss the three questionable takes in detail, what to expect from them in 2020, and why it's important to focus on process not results. Ep 135Davante vs. DeAndre, 6 big questions and the NFL schedule
It’s never too early for draft prep szn, and there are already some big questions that we’re wrapping our heads around as we careen toward opening kickoff for the 2021 NFL season. Matt Harmon is joined by Scott Pianowski to discuss those questions and much more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]Head coach Bill Belicheck has spent much of the 21st century proving naysayers wrong, but with an unproven quarterback and unremarkable players at skill positions, what do we do about the New England Patriots? (02:40)Perennial All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins heads to Arizona and is the consensus WR5 at FantasyPros, but with a move to a spread-the-wealth offense and limited time to build rapport with a new quarterback, can he leapfrog Davante Adams or Julio Jones? (07:17)Los Angeles Chargers running back and PPR monster Austin Ekeler has a new quarterback and doesn’t have Melvin Gordon eating up touches, could we see another career year? (19:38)After James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster fell short of their expected breakouts, are we sleeping on the Pittsburgh Steelers? (28:39)Most fantasy experts were ready to anoint Mecole Hardman as a breakout player at the end of the 2019 season, but with Sammy Watkins returning and a buzzy rookie in the backfield, do we have to wait another year? (37:31)With a healthy OBJ, Kareem Hunt in the fold for a full season and another receiving weapon in Austin Hooper, are we ready to forgive the Cleveland Browns if their expected fantasy breakout comes a year later than we all expected? (44:37)Along with talk of those underrated values and undervalued names on high-powered offenses, Matt and Scott discuss some of the takeaways from the reveal of the 2020 NFL schedule. Ep 133The immortal Frank Gore, Best Ball draft recap, and is AG the new CMC?
The year is 3042. In a future incredibly different from our present, Frank Gore rushes for another touchdown.Okay so he’s not that old, but his longevity does make one wonder about Gore’s potential immortality, as it was announced that he would be signing with the New York Jets.Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don to discuss that signing and much more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]Now that Gore is a member of Gang Green, should we as fantasy players be worried about Le’Veon Bell? (02:30)Speaking of running backs, Washington head coach Ron Rivera made quite the statement recently, saying rookie Antonio Gibson “has a skill set like Christian McCaffrey.” Soon, we’ll find out that Antonio Gibson is already in the best shape of his life, has lost 20 pounds, and has put on 30 pounds of muscle. (06:41)Elsewhere in the NFL, the fifth-year option wheel began to turn, as both the Bears and Titans declined to pick up the options of Mitchell Trubisky and Corey Davis, respectively. (10:37)Oh, and Andy Dalton signed with the Dallas Cowboys like we all suspected he would. Ep 132Rookie winners and veteran losers from the NFL Draft
Welcome back to the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast! In this episode, Yahoo's Liz Loza and Matt Harmon break down some of their favorite rookies from the back-end of the NFL Draft and take a look at some veterans who might be fighting for a job when (if?) training camp opens.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today]Every year, a few rookies from the later rounds break out for unexpected fantasy value. Who will it be this year? Liz plans on taking a shot on the Tennessee Titans’ Darrynton Evans who'll likely slide into third-down duties with Derrick Henry's passing game woes, and Matt goes with Bryan Edwards, who'll likely start alongside fellow rookie Henry Ruggs in Las Vegas (00:51).Matt and Liz also look at two more rookies that they think could have big years, Washington's Antonio Gandy-Golden and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, who'll only need to leap frog Ronald Jones II to line up in the backfield with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. (06:13)Elsewhere in the NFL, O.J Howard had his fifth-year option picked up in Tampa Bay (13:20), Andy Dalton was released by the Bengals (20:31), the Los Angeles Chargers held on to Justin Herbert's future security blanket Mike Williams (23:01). And while all this is going on, Cam Newton is still searching for a new team (27:48). Perhaps the New England Patriots will make a play? It's been way too long since they've had a former MVP under center. And we wrap up the show by looking at some of the veterans who might be less than excited about the results of the Draft, like Jamison Crowder from the New York Jets and Julian Edelman, who as of right now, does not have a former MVP throwing him the ball. Ep 122Gurley & Gordon find new homes, but where will Cam Newton land?
Well, it’s official: The Cam Newton era is over in Carolina.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the Panthers releasing the former MVP and more a bit later on the latest fantasy football podcast.First, two big-name running backs switched teams. The Los Angeles Rams released Todd Gurley, and he was subsequently signed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. (3:55)The Denver Broncos signed free agent Melvin Gordon, adding him to a backfield that already contained Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. Our experts discuss what the moves mean for fantasy. (10:15)Newton reportedly had a successful physical in Atlanta that proved his health, so, with that knowledge in tow, where do we think he’ll land? (18:30)Out of the backfield and switching to out wide, Robby Anderson — signed with the Carolina Panthers (28:00) — and Breshad Perriman — replaced Anderson on the New York Jets — are off the free-agent board. (37:20)Another wide receiver, Devin Funchess, signed with the Green Bay Packers, giving Aaron Rodgers a new ... weapon? Ep 121Todd Gurley released, QBs on the move as Free Agency continues
What a YEAR this week has been! Tom Brady to the Buccaneers — could Antonio Brown join him? — Philip Rivers to the Colts, both DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs got traded, and Cam Newton gave a very Cam-Newton-like reply to the Panthers allowing him to seek a trade. (6:56)All in a week’s worth of NFL Free Agency — and it’s not over yet. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss it all and more on the latest fantasy football podcast.Another quarterback was on the move this week: The Jacksonville Jaguars traded Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears. (8:50)Does this mean the Gardner Minshew era has begun in Duval? Should Mitchell Trubisky be terrified?Elsewhere on the QB carousel, the Denver Broncos waived Joe Flacco due to what is being called a “failed physical designation.” Are they going all-in with Drew Lock — or are they about to make a move? And in one of the more shocking moves of the day, the Los Angeles Rams announced they would be releasing star running back, Todd Gurley! (18:24)And speaking of running backs, there is also reported mutual interest between Melvin Gordon and the Buffalo Bills.Got all that? Good, because there’s probably gonna be more to come! Ep 120Tom Brady waves goodbye to New England and more Free Agency talk
Technically, the free agency period for the 2020 NFL season actually starts on March 18th, but you would think we were midway through the period the way the deals have been flying!Liz Loza and Matt Harmon talk about all the biggest moves made in the latest fantasy football podcast. After a Monday that included a mind-boggling DeAndre Hopkins-to-the-Cardinals trade -- that our own Matt Harmon called the worst trade of all time -- and a late-night trade for Stefon Diggs by the Buffalo Bills, Tuesday came in strong as well.It seems like Tom Brady, 6-time Super Bowl champ, is taking his talents to Tampa Bay. We'll look at how TB in TB will impact Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as well. (01:24)Load up the kids into the RV, Phil Rivers is going to Indy. (09:26)Our one word reaction to the Hopkins/Johnson trade: WTF! Okay, that's technically an acronym, but on the bright side Houston signed Randall Cobb tho. (12:23)Stefon Diggs gets traded to Buffalo and adds another weapon to a sneaky good offense. (20:48)If you listen closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment Matt's heart breaks in two: Cam Newton is likely to be traded or cut in Carolina... and will be replaced by Teddy Bridgewater. (28:37)Bears add Jimmy Graham and Robert Quinn. But not all hope is lost, Chicago is reportedly interested in Nick Foles or Andy Dalton. (36:52)Browns add Austin Hooper and Jack Conklin while fantasy football writers nationwide get ready to write about the loaded Browns offense ... again. (43:54)Falcons replace Austin Hooper with former Raven Hayden Hurst. Ep 119NFL Dysfunctional Franchise Power Rankings
This second week of March is not the busiest time in the NFL calendar. In the valley between the combine and the start of free agency, with an important labor vote potentially getting resolved over the weekend, NFL fans and prognosticators alike feel like they're about to crest the first drop of a roller coaster. Lots of anticipation. Not much action.Have no fear, the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast still rolls out the important #content on a weekly basis. Inspired by last week's discussion of Amari Cooper's bumpy tenures in Oakland & Dallas, Matt Harmon & Liz Loza spend the podcast today doing their first annual NFL Franchise Dysfunction Rankings. After a shared top 4 of the usual clown show franchises (hello, Dan Snyder!), the real arguments begin. Why are Matt & Liz so far apart on the Cowboys and Patriots? Are the Lions truly a bad franchise or is their consistency worthy of praise? Is the Bill O’Brien era in Houston a sign of operational competency or ineptitude? Why are our hosts so low on the Steelers? New logo aside, are the Rams truly a top tier franchise or are they teetering on the verge of being the Chargers? Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 117Brady on the move? Bucs on the QB hunt? The NFL Combine rumor mill is in full swing!
The NFL Scouting Combine has begun, and so too the rumor mill begins to spin. Everything from Cam Newton to Joe Burrow’s hands have already been discussed.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon run down those storylines and more in the latest fantasy football podcast.ESPN's Jeff Darlington is reporting sources close to Tom Brady is evaluating free agency with the intention of departing. Is someone punking the American public or should you order your TB12 Las Vegas Raiders jersey right now? (3:45)The Tampa Bay Buccaneers raised eyebrows when head coach Bruce Arians and General Manager Jason Licht spoke on the future of the quarterback position. Arians said he’d like to see "Tom Brady. Philip (Rivers) is another guy. We'll see." Jameis Winston’s days as Tampa’s starting QB might be numbered. (10:20)[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. What I’ve told everybody I’ve been in touch with since I took this job is we’re gonna evaluate every position every year. If we can get better, we will.” (14:45)Further north in the NFC South, the Panthers brain trust has opened up a little more on on the future of Cam Newton with the team. Could he be on the trading block? (18:05)Ron Rivera and the Redskins' brass reportedly met with Tua Tagovailoa and Joe Burrow at the combine. Could the Skins really be exploring moving on from Dwayne Haskins, Jr.? (23:30)After some rumors that Joe Burrow could pull an Eli Manning and turn his back on Bengals at the podium (and some hilarious talk of the size of his hands), he set the record straight, saying he’d absolutely report to Cincinnati. (27:10)Elsewhere in the rumor mill, Dave Gettleman is saying Dave Gettleman things in New York about the Giants' fourth overall pick (29:15), while the Bears are taking their sweet time deciding what to do with Mitch Trubisky’s fifth-year option. (33:00)Next up, our experts go into detail on Liz’s top prospects to watch at the combine: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma; Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama; Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama; D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia; JK Dobbins, RB, Ohio State; Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin. Even Jason Witten, who tried (and failed) his hand in the booth, stated he wants to play again.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss those returns and more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. (21:35)Next up, Liz and Matt are delving into the strange world of social media. This is the time of year when NFL players are Instagramming and tweeting with unmatched relentlessness, oftentimes sharing obscure, mysterious posts which may or may not inadvertently reveal something about their playing future.Liz and Matt discuss the very latest from that world, including Derek Carr Instagramming a picture of him and Khalil Mack, and Stefon Diggs deleting everything Vikings-related from his IG. Ep 115Valentine's Day matchmaker with Philip Rivers, Amari Cooper and the 2020 free agent class
It’s the second full week of February, and for many folks, that means love is in the air — yes, Valentine’s Day.And in the spirit of happy couples, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon decided to play matchmaker in the latest fantasy football podcast. But instead of bringing couples to the perfect V-Day restaurant or pairing a significant other with the perfect gift, they’re taking the top soon-to-be free agents and placing them in a new team.[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. NJ only. 21+. Terms apply]The first candidate is Philip Rivers, newly “single” after the Chargers and QB said their goodbyes (4:45). There’s Amari Cooper, on the market after being the odd-person-out in a highly publicized sugar-daddy situation (10:25).Should Melvin Gordon look for love outside of LA? (16:40) Are Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill meant to be? (24:45)Where will the second chapters of Jameis Winston — who got LASIK surgery so now everyone will overdraft him in 2020 — and Marcus Mariota take them? (25:40) Kenyan Drake was broken up with (freed?) by the Miami Dolphins and went on to produce successfully with the Cardinals — so is this pairing the real thing? (44:10)These are just a few of the names Liz and Matt play cupid with — where do you wish your favorite free agents would land this offseason? Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Liz @LizLoza_FFFollow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 114Looking at 2020 RBs, WRs, and TEs — and should Taysom Hill be FLEX eligible?
After yet another playoff comeback from a 10+ point deficit, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to claim the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LIV.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon recap their weeks in Miami (0:35) and big game (7:35) on the latest fantasy football podcast.[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. Matt thinks he should not have FLEX eligibility — what do you think? (21:55)Speaking of shadowy quarterback situations, there continue to be reports out of Chicago that the Bears will add a veteran QB presence to challenge Mitchell Trubisky in camp. Liz & Matt speculate who that veteran passer could be. (29:15)Finally, Liz and Matt run down their way-too-early rankings for running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. Ep 113Chiefs vs 49ers: Taking a longer look at both backfields and Deebo vs. Mecole in 2020
With the big game just a few days away, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon preview the matchup and much more from Radio Row in Miami on the latest fantasy football podcast! Before they get to that, breaking news out of Chicago: Mitchell Trubisky went under the knife to fix an injured shoulder. Could this cure his passing woes from 2019? Too bad it was his non-throwing shoulder that was injured the whole time. Loza continues to lament the QB situation in the Windy City. (0:35)Later, our experts give their initial thoughts on staying down in Miami, plus their experiences on Media Night, where Liz got the cold shoulder from Tevin Coleman. (3:05) The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs both provided a lot of fantasy goodness last season, and they’ll have some intriguing and interesting situations at both running back and wide receiver in 2020.Raheem Mostert has established himself as the leader of the 9ers backfield in recent weeks, but considering how things were playing out early in the season (with Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida shining in individual moments), is Mostert worthy of high draft capital next season? On the other side of the spectrum, will Damien Williams finally be a trustworthy season-long asset, or will we be teased with the upside of Darwin Thompson yet again? (10:20)At wide receiver, both teams have talented youngsters who will be entering Year 2: Deebo Samuel for the 49ers and Mecole Hardman for the Chiefs. The 2019 rookie wide receiver class was truly incredible — and an even better one might be coming in 2020. (15:25)[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. Ep 112Packers & Titans post-mortem, Eli retiring, and ranking the QBs in 2020
This is it. The matchup is set. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will meet for all the marbles at Super Bowl LIV. Who ya got?Liz Loza and Matt Harmon give their initial thoughts on the matchup in the latest fantasy football podcast. But we can’t forget about the teams the Chiefs and 49ers beat to get here. Liz and Matt give their thoughts on both the Titans and Packers — two squads that probably played beyond their means in these playoffs. (1:10) [Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. NJ only. 21+. After hiring Jason Garrett as their new offensive coordinator, the Giants are now linked to Freddie Kitchens. (13:15)Speaking of the Giants, Eli Manning announced his retirement on Wednesday, and almost immediately the Hall Of Fame debate began — which side are you on? (19:40)The Jaguars hired Jay Gruden as their new OC, but head coach Doug Marrone has kept talks of a 2020 starter at quarterback under wraps thus far. (28:00)Our fantasy analysts published their way too early top 10 ranks at every position this week. Liz and Matt compare their notes on quarterbacks, and debate between Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes for the 2020 fantasy season. Ep 111Divisional round recap, championship preview, and more coaching changes
The NFL playoffs have not disappointed thus far, giving Liz Loza and Matt Harmon a lot to discuss on the latest fantasy football podcast!Kicking off the weekend, Kyle Shanahan, Robert Saleh and the San Francisco 49ers put on a show on both sides of the ball, completely dominating the Minnesota Vikings. Particularly impressive was the re-emergence of Tevin Coleman in the SF backfield. As always, the 49ers RB situation is hard to parse from a fantasy angle, but it demands your attention. (0:35)In an immense upset, Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and the Tennessee Titans continued their magic to knock off the Baltimore Ravens IN Baltimore one week after taking out Tom Brady and the Patriots IN New England. Derrick Henry, in particular, has been unreal in these playoffs, running for over 180 yards in consecutive weeks. Liz and Matt discuss whether the behemoth runner will be worth a top-five fantasy draft pick next season. (8:40).The Texans-Chiefs game was absolutely nuts. The Texans were up 24-0 at one point in the game, yet lost 51-31 to quarterback-god, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs. Sorry, Bill O'Brien and the Texans, but our hosts are at a loss on how to stop this team. (20:25)Wrapping up Sunday's games, the Packers advanced to the NFC Championship on the backs of a great Aaron Rodgers performance and a greater Davante Adams performance. Pretty impressive considering the rest of the Green Bay WRs are Allen Lazard and a bucket of spare car parts. (25:50)Elsewhere in the NFL, Kevin Stefanski was hired by the Cleveland Browns to be their new head coach, right after the 49ers shut down the Vikings offense (33:50). On the other side of the spectrum, the Broncos fired Rich Scangarello and replaced him with Pat Shurmur as offensive coordinator (39:10) and the Jaguars parted ways with John DeFilippo (43:35). Liz and Matt discuss these moves and what they mean for fantasy. Finally, Liz and Matt pick this weekend's two conference championship games against the spread in Titans/Chiefs and Packers/49ers. Ep 110The coaching carousel is in full spin and divisional playoff round preview
Happy New Year! A LOT has happened since our last episode, but Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are back to talk all things football in the latest fantasy podcast.First up, the coaching carousel is in full effect, as one of the biggest pieces was knocked off the board. Jason Garrett is gone from Dallas, replaced by veteran coach Mike McCarthy, which feels a little bit like going from vanilla ice cream to ... artisanal vanilla ice cream. Liz and Matt explain why the move is probably good news for Dak and Zeke. (02:16)Ron Rivera is now the new head coach of Washington, while the Giants went with former Patriots WR coach Joe Judge as their new HC (and Garrett might apparently not be done with the NFC East). (11:15)Former Baylor coach Matt Rhule is the new HC for the Carolina Panthers. The Browns, however, are still exploring candidates like Josh McDaniels, Jim Schwartz and Eric Bieniemy. (14:15)Liz and Matt discuss all these hirings and their impact on the fantasy landscape. The Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs was a doozy: Kirk Cousins and the Vikings went to New Orleans and took out the Saints. (34:28) Derrick Henry barreled his way through Foxborough en route to a Titans upset, what's next for Tom Brady? (38:05) The Seahawks defeated an Eagles team that lost Carson Wentz to an injury just minutes into the game. (46:45) And Deshaun Watson led the Texans to a win over Buffalo. (51:56) Liz and Matt recap those matchups and then preview this weekend’s divisional round. Ep 109Week 17 Preview: What went right and wrong in fantasy in 2019
Well, the fantasy championships are over — UNLESS your championship game is in Week 17. If you do, we are obligated by the fantasy overlords themselves to say: “Your league is crazy.” But, if you like to live dangerously, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon have you covered for Week 17 in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. NJ only. 21+. Terms apply]First things first: with the Ravens sitting Lamar Jackson (and others) for their Week 17 matchup against the Steelers, is RGIII a viable starter in daily fantasy? (0:50)Before we get to the rest of the Week 17 games, with 95% of leagues wrapped up for the year, there’s no time like the present to look back at the fantasy season. What happened to the consensus top four — Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, Alvin Kamara, and Ezekiel Elliott — this season? How did they finish the year? Was the consensus all wrong, or is this just part of variance? What about the rest of the guys drafted in the top 10? (4:20)After his incredible 2019 season, could Lamar Jackson be next year’s #1 overall pick? (7:00)And speaking of QBs, what do we make of the current top 10 — Jackson, Deshaun Watson, Dak Prescott, JAMEIS WINSTON, Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Mahomes, Kyler Murray, Matt Ryan, and Carson Wentz — going into 2020? Should the whole “Wait on a QB” strategy change? Should we be looking to target dual-threat quarterbacks only? (15:05)Liz and Matt then look towards Week 17 and tell you the one thing you should look for in each game. Ep 108Week 16 Recap: Strange gifts and performances handed out in championship weekend
Just in time for the holidays, the football gods gifted us a strange Week 16 to wrap up the 2019 fantasy football season. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the wild Week 16 and the gifts they think each team received as a result of the weekend's games. For example, the Eagles gifted Cowboys fans what appears to be the end of the Jason Garrett era in Dallas. (01:22)Alvin Kamara found the end zone twice this week – his first scores since Week 3 – which might've been a gift that was too little, too late for his fantasy owners. Despite Kamara's season-long performance that didn't meet expectations, is he still a top 5 pick in 2020? (05:41)Brett Hundley, of all people, staved off a late comeback attempt by the Seattle Seahawks after Kyler Murray left the Cardinals game with a hamstring injury. Perhaps more so than #1 pick Murray, the real gift in Arizona might be Kliff Kingsbury, who is proving himself to be a more than competent NFL head coach. (10:42)Every Denver Bronco fan has been wishing for a QB ever since Peyton Manning hung up the cleats in 2016. Is Drew Lock the gift they've been waiting for? (13:48)In a startlingly high-scoring game, the Giants and Washington went into overtime tied 35-35! Dwayne Haskins went down with an injury, but it didn’t appear to be too serious. Daniel Jones, on the other hand, went absolutely nuts, throwing for 352 yards and FIVE touchdowns. What can we expect from these two young quarterbacks in their sophomore year? (21:02)Speaking of strangely high-scoring, how about those Bengals and Dolphins? Two months ago, this game looking like a snoozefest, and despite their bad records, these teams have set themselves up for interesting futures. (25:10)All those games and more on the last Sunday-night episode of the season. Ep 107Week 16 Preview: What you need to know before your fantasy championship – and what's going on in Jacksonville?
It’s fantasy championship week (unless your chip is in Week 17 — if so, probably should change that), and Liz Loza and Matt Harmon have you covered with all things Week 16 in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Play in Yahoo’s NFL $175K Baller. $10 entry fee and $15K to first place]One of the biggest news items heading into the fantasy championship is Dak Prescott dealing with an injured throwing shoulder. Prescott himself has said he’ll be good to go for the Cowboys’ must-win matchup against the Eagles, but Liz and Matt discuss the potential fantasy ramifications this injury could have. (1:30)Elsewhere on the injury front, star wide receiver Chris Godwin (hamstring) will not be available for his fantasy managers as he was ruled out of Saturday’s game vs. the Texans. Breshad Perriman is expected to step into the WR1 role for the Buccaneers. What should we expect from Perriman and the rest of the fantasy assets in that game? (8:20)Our experts then discuss their Christmas wishes for the 2020 Jacksonville Jaguars. The 2019 version of the time just went through an odd, tumultuous week culminating in the firing of Tom Coughlin (coaches are probably next). (12:20)After doling out some more Christmas cheer to the struggling Rams & still-injured AJ Green (20:20), Liz and Matt then look towards Week 16 and tell you the one thing you should look for in each game. Ep 106Week 15 Recap: Fringe playoff heroes and recap of a crazy semifinal week
What do Kenyan Drake, Breshad Perriman, Kenny Stills, Greg Ward, A.J. Brown, and Jamison Crowder all have in common? They probably sent some fantasy managers to the championship in Week 16.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon recap those performances and much more in the latest fantasy football podcast. (02:51)[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. NJ only. 21+. Terms apply]It was a wild Week 15, with plenty of touchdowns to go around, making for some undoubtedly high-scoring fantasy semifinal matchups. Also, pure mayhem went down in the Bay area after the Oakland Raiders lost their final home game (14:27), and the San Francisco 49ers got shocked at home by the sorry Atlanta Falcons. (21:34)Sadly, not only did Dalvin Cook go down in Week 15 with a shoulder injury, but he was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, which hints at the potential severity of the ailment. Does Mike Boone enter league-winner status? (19:20)Elsewhere in the NFL, the Kenny Stills, of all people, put the Houston Texans in the driver's seat for the AFC South with 2 TDs against the Tennessee Titans. (24:00)Somehow, the Bears wide receivers — specifically Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller — are making things work even though Mitchell Trubisky is ... not amazing. (26:53).At long last, Tyler Lockett returned to fantasy glory — but the Seahawks cannot play a normal game to save their lives (which might be good or bad, depending on what side of the fantasy fence you’re on). (29:34)Saquon Barkley delivered two touchdowns (although, since they were his first since Week 7, it might have been too little, too late for fantasy managers). Oh, and Eli Manning is back to .500! (33:08)Finally, Liz & Matt wrap up the show lamenting the complete no-show from the Los Angeles Rams and offensive explosion from the Dallas Cowboys. Ep 105Week 15 Preview: Big injuries at the wrong time, and dreadful sits-starts for the semifinals
One of the best feelings ever is to know you’re going into the fantasy football playoffs with a completely healthy lineup. Unfortunately, the way Week 14 went, it’s hard to have a completely healthy team right now. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss all those injury losses and more in the latest fantasy football podcast.[Play in Yahoo’s NFL $175K Baller. $10 entry fee and $15K to first place]The Philadelphia Eagles — who are trying to not only make the playoffs but beat out the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East crown — lost Alshon Jeffery to IR and Nelson Agholor’s status is up in the air for Week 15 against Washington. Now, their wide receiver corps is reduced to JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward Jr., someone named Robert Davis and ... who knows. Washington isn’t scot-free either, as Derrius Guice — who was showing off his potential in previous weeks — was placed on IR again with a sprained MCL. (2:00)[Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM: Deposit $10, Get $100 in Free Bets. NJ only. 21+. Terms apply]Two fantasy studs in Mike Evans and Marvin Jones were both lost for the season. Targets galore for Kenny Golladay and Chris Godwin, respectively, although fantasy managers should take note that Jameis Winston has been playing with a fracture in his hand. (8:40)Next up, Liz and Matt discuss some of the worst players they’re being forced to start in the semifinals, along with some of the better players they might have no choice but to bench! (21:30)Liz and Matt then look towards Week 15 and tell you the one thing you should look for in each game. Ep 104Week 14 Recap: How the NFL playoff race is affecting your fantasy playoffs
Sadly, we regret to inform you that the Patriots' dynasty is over. Kaput. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the state of the Patriots dynasty and much more in the latest fantasy podcast.Speaking of contenders, they are few and far between in the NFL while there are a plethora of eliminated (or close to eliminated) teams. Yet, some of those teams are still putting up a fight. Liz and Matt talk about which teams are frisky (like the Broncos, Falcons, and Colts) and which teams are packing it in (like the Browns, Panthers, and Jaguars). (02:39)The New England Patriots lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14, 23-16. The Texans beat them, 28-22, in Week 13. And we all know what the Ravens did to them a couple weeks ago. That’s three AFC contenders the Pats lost to. So ... what do we make of this? (23:29)Elsewhere in the NFL, the aforementioned Texans (after that impressive win over the Pats) were embarrassed in Week 15, 38-24, by Drew Lock and the Broncos. Now, Houston is in a virtual tie at the top of the AFC South with the Titans, who have been BALLIN. How will this battle play out in the coming weeks? (28:21)Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Week 14 was replete with injuries. Mike Evans, Jared Cook, DeVante Parker, and Derrius Guice all went down, among others. Liz and Matt discuss the ramifications of those losses. Whether you made the tournament or are on the outside looking in, it’s been a wild, memorable season, and it’s safe to say that the best could be yet to come.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the start of the playoffs and the players you need to know about on the latest fantasy football podcast.[Play in Yahoo’s NFL $200K Baller. $10 entry fee and $20K to first place]Though the fantasy playoffs are set to begin for many leagues in Week 14, that doesn’t mean they’re starting smoothly for every fantasy manager. Dalvin Cook suffered an injured shoulder on Monday night in Week 13, but does it mean Alexander Mattison will become more than just a stash (Cook did say he’ll be fine for Week 14)? (6:10)Marlon Mack returned to practice (11:35), and Kerryon Johnson is reportedly eyeing a return in Week 16 — but should you stash him for the fantasy championship? Also, TJ Hockenson is headed to the IR. We do some Lions talk to get you prepared for the playoffs. (15:00)Daniel Jones, is looking doubtful for Week 14 with an ankle sprain, so you know what that means: ELI IS BACK! Liz and Matt discuss the trickle-down effect for the Giants wideouts rest-of-season. (19:05)Liz and Matt then look towards Week 14 and tell you the one thing you should look for in each game (35:10), as well as some DFS bonus bargains (1:00:00).Don’t forget to play in Yahoo’s Week 14 NFL $200K Baller contest! $10 entry fee and $20K to first place! Ep 102Week 13 Recap: Turkey day leftovers & a week for the underdogs
RIP to most Survivor entries. Our thoughts are with everyone who trusted Sam Darnold this week. Salute to those of you who trusted the likes of DeVante Parker and Derrius Guice in a must-win Week 13.Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss all those performances and more from a crazy Week 13 the latest fantasy football podcast. After recapping some of the Thanksgiving action (03:04), and the Ravens/49ers matchup of the day (14:04), Liz and Matt break down Sunday’s slate which was full of surprising underdog performances. Devlin “Duck” Hodges and Benny Snell helped take down the Browns. (18:05) The aforementioned Sam Darnold and the red-hot Jets? Embarrassed by the Bengals. (22:09)DeVante Parker LIT UP the Eagles (7 catches, 159 yards, 2 TDs). (28:50)Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry ruined many of the Colts’ playoff dreams. (32:13)Gardner Minshew took back his rightful place as the Jacksonville Jaguars' starting QB in an otherwise troubling loss to the Buccaneers (36:11)Derrius Guice went off (10 rushes, 129 yards, 2 TDs) in a huge upset over the Panthers. (40:57) Elsewhere in the NFL, Darwin Thompson finally gets an opportunity in KC, the Rams offense awoke in shocking fashion against the Cardinals, Drew Lock got a nice QB win in his first start and Green Bay found their WR2 -- all hail the Lazard King! Ep 101Week 13 Preview: Turkey day action and a MNF beat-down
Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are back with a special Wednesday edition of the fantasy football podcast, ahead of the turkey apocalypse otherwise known as Thanksgiving![Play in Yahoo’s NFL $200K Baller. $10 entry fee and $20K to first place]But Thanksgiving is on Thursday, how about that you-know-what whoopin’ the Ravens put on the Rams on Monday night? Liz & Matt gush about Lamar, lament the Rams & preview the NFC West matchup between the Rams & Cardinals later in the week. Are we sure Arizona is the worst team in the division? (05:00)Back to the holiday spirit, our experts run through all the Turkey Day action, starting with ... ugh ... Bears vs. Lions. In the event that the questionable Jeff Driskel can’t take the field on Thursday, his backup is, and this is not a mistake, David Blough. Blerg. Is there anything positive to take away from this matchup. Our experts try to find the marshmallows in this rotten bowl of sweet potatoes. (09:05)They then move on to Buffalo vs. Dallas in what might be the most interesting matchup of the holiday. Both teams have been criticized for being weak against squads over .500. Which team will silence the doubters on Thursday? (12:01)Finally, our football dinner ends with a dessert of New Orleans vs. Atlanta. Can New Orleans prove their surprising loss to the dirty birds two weeks ago was just an aberration? Or will this flightless Falcons team put up one last fight against a division rival before they pack it in for the season? (19:03)After the Turkey Day discussion, Liz and Matt look towards the weekend and preview each game from the remainder of Week 13 and tell you the one thing you should look for in each game. (25:45)Don’t forget to play in Yahoo’s Week 13 NFL $200K Baller contest! $10 entry fee and $20K to first place! Ep 100Week 12 Recap: Backup RBs go off, more Wentz worry and is it N'Keal Harry time?
Sure, Christian McCaffrey and Nick Chubb had big days, as expected, but a lot of backup running backs had memorable outings in Week 12. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the captivating performances from Rashaad Penny, Latavius Murray, Qadree Ollison, Benny Snell and more in the latest fantasy football podcast. (01:25)Liz and Matt hit mostly every game from Week 12’s Sunday slate, including fantasy owners finally getting a solid look at first round Patriots WR N’Keal Harry. Should fantasy owners invest in the rookie or are there better options in the depleted New England receiver corps? (13:25)Elsewhere in the NFL, we witnessed another disappointing outing by Carson Wentz. So, for the umpteenth time, what’s wrong with Wentz? (21:28)The Browns went off in the Week 12, as everybody with fantasy value — Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt — ate, while on the other side, DeVante Parker turned 11 targets into six catches for 91 yards (for what it’s worth). (31:45)Oakland got caught in a classic west-to-east trap game in East Rutherford. Matt & Liz take a look at Sam Darnold’s performance and the Jets’ light schedule to round out the season (36:30)Don’t get your ponytail in a bunch, but Derrick Henry had himself a day against the Jaguars and Leonard Fournette got into the end-zone twice as well. Could Ryan Tannehill be the answer in Tennessee and man, it definitely seems like Foles is not in Jacksonville. (41:58)John Brown is becoming (or rather, has become) one of the safest wide receivers to roster in fantasy (48:12), Mason Rudolph got benched one week after you-know-what, only to watch the Duck, Devlin Hodges, come in and help the Steelers get the W (51:30).Liz and Matt discuss all that and more fantasy tidbits from Week 12’s games. Ep 99Week 12 Preview: Strong second-half rookies, are the Falcons good now and is Rivers washed?
Are we seeing the end of Philip Rivers? On a scale of 1-gross, how bad was Goff vs. Trubisky last week? Oh, and what’s going on with Nelson Agholor’s supposed burner account?Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss that and much more on the latest Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast, starting with the...shall we say...rough outing between the Rams and Bears last Sunday night. (1:30)On Monday night, the Chiefs beat the Chargers in Mexico City, but most notable were Philip Rivers' 4 picks. Is the veteran quarterback nearing the end? (7:10)[Play in Yahoo’s NFL $200K Baller. $10 entry fee and $20K to first place]Elsewhere in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been holding their own even though they’re dealing with a plethora of injuries to their top fantasy weapons. JuJu Smith-Schuster has already been ruled out, James Conner is questionable, and Diontae Johnson is in concussion protocol. Have the surprisingly .500 Steelers finally about collapse under the weight of injuries?(10:30)Speaking of surprises, the lowly Falcons have won two games in a row by a margin of 55-12. What's behind Atlanta's sudden resurgence, and should we pay attention to this team in the second half? (16:25)Next, Liz and Matt discuss some rookies who could provide strong second-halves, which could prove very useful in fantasy. Names like Noah Fant, Hunter Renfrow, Deebo Samuel (who could be in for some positive touchdown regression), Darius Slayton and Andy Isabella may be of potential interest if they're available in your league or if you're thinking about keeping them (21:40). After discussing all that, our experts give one bit of advice for every game on the Week 12 slate (32:40), as well as some DFS bargains and fades (51:45).Oh, and don’t forget to join the Week 12 NFL $200K Baller daily fantasy contest. Ep 98Week 11 Recap: Kyler is heating up, Lamar is on fire and what's wrong with Watson & Wentz?
Four passing touchdowns. 222 passing yards. 86 yards on the ground. Just another day in the office for Lamar Jackson. The MVP front-runner (don't @ us, Russell Wilson lovers) is continuing his hot streak and despite losing this weekend, Kyler Murray is showing strong flashes that he could be Lamar Jackson (or Patrick Mahomes, or Cam Newton) 2.0.Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don on a Week 11 Sunday night to discuss the results of the too-close-for comfort San Francisco 49ers win over the Arizona Cardinals (02:30) and the blowout win for the Baltimore Ravens over the Houston Texans (07:45).Later in the show, our experts hit the rest of the Sunday games including:- New England @ Philadelphia: What's wrong with Wentz? (19:35)- New Orleans @ Tampa Bay: The Saints get right against the Bucs (21:15)- Denver @ Minnesota: The Vikings finally allow a TD to a TE (29:30)- Atlanta @ Carolina: The end of Riverboat Ron? (31:00)- Dallas @ Detroit: It's a Bo Scarbrough revenge game! (36:30)- Cincinnati @ Oakland: Perhaps Ryan Finley isn't the answer (40:30)- Jacksonville @ Indianapolis: Marlon Mack fractures his hand (44:45)- Buffalo @ Miami: Josh Allen finds his deep ball (52:00)- New York Jets @ Washington: gross (52:25)Please remember to rate, review and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy.Follow Matt @MattHarmon_BYBFollow Dalton @DaltonDelDonCheck out the rest of the Yahoo Sports Podcast family at https://apple.co/2Abi8jk or at yahoosports.com/podcasts See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 97Week 11 Preview: Nick Foles is back, RBs to stash and WR3s to stream
Well, as fun as Minshew Mania was, it has indeed come to an end. Nick Foles is returning to the Jaguars this week, but what does it mean for the fantasy values of Jaguar studs like Leonard Fournette and D.J. Chark? (1:10)Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss that and much more on the latest Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast.[Play in Yahoo’s NFL $200K Baller. $10 entry fee and $20K to first place]Elsewhere in the NFL, two of the top tight ends in fantasy won’t be on the field in Week 11. Austin Hooper will now be out for a month, and considering he’d been the top tight end in fantasy, we feel your pain, fantasy managers. Is Luke Stocker a viable fantasy option now?George Kittle is set to miss another game, and unfortunately, it’s against the Cardinals, the team which has been friendliest to opposing TEs this season. Liz and Matt seek out TE dart-throws in the wake of these injuries for Week 11. (5:45)As you very well know, it’s #HandcuffSZN, but beyond that, Liz and Matt list the running backs fantasy managers should be stashing — regardless of whether they’re rostering the lead backs in the same offense. (15:05)Next up, our experts talk about the random group of wideouts in the top 30-50 who seem to produce week in and week out, and which of them are worth streaming based on their matchups. (23:40)After discussing all that, our experts give one bit of advice for every game one the Week 11 slate (35:55).Oh, and don’t forget to join the Week 11 NFL $200K Baller daily fantasy contest.
