What are your motives for following Jesus? Perhaps you've never considered this, or maybe you have. Either way, our true reasons for following Jesus will eventually reveal themselves. Not everyone follows Him for the right reasons—some may follow only for personal gain, rather than seeking a genuine relationship with Christ. As we walk with Him, it's important to reflect on our motives and ensure they align with His purpose. Listen in as we walk through John 6:1-15, 25-35.

How does Jesus demonstrate His divine authority? In the Gospels, we see Jesus healing the sick, drawing people to repentance, and working on the Sabbath. These counter-cultural acts revealed His ultimate authority as the Son of God. Jesus is the sovereign Lord who commands us to live in the fullness of His grace, repent of our sins, and join in His ongoing work of renewal in the world. Listen in as we walk through John 5:1-18.

Our culture is defined by conditional allegiances. IF you do what I expect, THEN I will do what you expect. IF you love me the right way, THEN will I love you the right way. Conditional relationships with our spouses, with our families, with our friends, with our kids, with our bosses, with our barbers, with our baristas, with everybody. They all have requirements. Since conditional and transactional relationships dominate the way we relate to one another, do you think it’s possible we put conditions on Christ? Lets jump into part 3 of our series "Signs of the King" to explore how the bible instructs us to interface with these cultural tensions.

We are continuing in our message series, Signs of the King, looking at the Gospel of John to discover who Jesus is. In life, we are constantly searching for direction. We desire guidance, even if we are getting it from the wrong places. As a result of our misguided searches, we are left even further from our hope. The Bible makes it clear for us, that in every circumstance, we can lean on Jesus. What does it mean to lean on Jesus? We must come to Jesus, fully obey Him, and receive the gift of Christ. When we are in Christ, we can rest in the truth that we can trust and lean on Him in any and everything. Today, as we turn our attention to the last section of Jesus’ prayer in John 17, we see another group of people who are on his mind and heart, all that would believe in Him. As Jesus stood on the precipice of the pinnacle of His work of salvation, Jesus looked forward to all those in the years, decades, and even centuries ahead who would trust in his life-saving work and surrender to His Lordship, and he prayed for them. So, if someone’s prayer life reveals their concerns and desires, what does Jesus’ final prayer section reveal about His desire for His followers? We have been studying John 17 throughout our series, Why Pray? In this passage, we read a prayer that Jesus prayed just hours before His crucifixion. At the Last Supper, we see Him praying to His Father over His disciples and His purpose. Within Christ’s prayer, we can find the purpose that He longs for us, His children, to have. Because we're set apart as followers of Christ, our purpose is found in Jesus and built on Him alone. It's all about Jesus. This new year we are beginning a new series, Why Pray, looking at the High Priestly prayer Jesus prayed to examine why and how we should pray. So, why should we pray? To glorify God. He loves to hear from His children and through our time spent in prayer, we get to know who He is and grow in intimacy with our Father. When we acknowledge God as Father, Jesus as Son, and the glory of Christ we are glorifying God through prayer. Clinging to the faithfulness and certainty of Gods promises through these times, can serve as an anchor for our souls. As we wait for Jesus’ return, where He will eradicate war, pain, and loss, we should rejoice, pray, and serve in the meantime. The coming of Christ ultimately brings the death of war. We can press on with the hope that Jesus promises peace through the Holy Spirit, and we can live with intention in the meantime. We are a people in desperate need of deliverance, to find liberty in Christs gift of salvation. We need His hope to change our lives and free us from the bondage of sin. May this bring encouragement to you that the coming of Christ brings liberty to enslaved sinners. Last week we kicked off our Advent series, Radiant, diving into the hope that Christ holds and the gift that is found in Jesus’ birth. The light that the coming of Jesus brings us is eternal, He offers us hope and joy. In Him, we can experience forever joy—that never dissipates, even in the difficult parts of life. Jesus fills us with joy by growing our family, bringing us to a table of celebration, and giving us forever joy. Life throws us a lot of different joys, many bring us happiness, but when the joy of receiving goes away what are we left with? What hope we have in Christ—the light of joy, we get everlasting joy that isn’t dependent on circumstance or temporary pleasures. We are beginning our Advent series, Radiant, unpacking how Christ holds the hope and light we desperately need. In the book of Isaiah, chapter 9, there are two promises within, that we will look at today. With Jesus, our gloom is overcome with glory and our darkness is overcome with light. We are promised transformation and freedom in Christ when we turn from our sinful ways. The light of Jesus is undeniable, it permeates every part of our lives and has the power to bring us out of depths of gloom. Join us this Christmas season as we jump into a new series. This week we are finishing our study through the book of Galatians, learning the Good News of Christ and the freedom found in salvation through Jesus. In the final chapter, Paul addresses the church urging them to keep each other accountable and to bear one another's burdens. As we strive to walk in the Gospel we must keep in step with God's spirit. We can do this by immersing ourselves in Christ-centered community and freedom. God gave us the gift of fellowship; we have each other to lean on and to have accountability as we walk in the light of God's spirit. Today we continue in our message series in Galatians, Good News, diving into what it means to be free in Christ. Before we come to know Christ, we long to gratify our desires, our flesh. We live with internal passions to be fulfilled; every time we fulfill them, they grow. Once we have come to know Jesus and accepted Him as our savior, we learn that those in Christ have crucified their flesh along with their passions and desires. Yet, we still may experience these desires from our old life. So, as we learn to walk with the Spirit, Jesus points out a few steps we should take as we walk alongside Him. We must recognize that we have an inner struggle that goes towards fulfilling our flesh, we should acknowledge the fruit that is growing in our life and put our flesh to death in Christ Jesus. When we walk with the Spirit and crucify our flesh, we will see godly attributes growing in our lives like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We are continuing in our Galatians series, Good News, studying the freedom from the law and security found in the Gospel. When we find ourselves going back to our old ways, habits, or sins, it's as if we are re-enslaving ourselves to the law and forfeiting our liberty in Jesus. Paul shows us that we lose the benefits of Christ, the scandal of the cross, and the motivation to love when we revert to the law and believe the lie that we can do it all on our own efforts. In some ways freedom is scary, we can find comfort in thinking that our faith is based on works, but Jesus is desiring us to know in deep ways that our faith is based solely by believing in the Gospel and accepting Christ as our Savior. Jesus saved us by grace alone, despite our flaws and shortcomings, He loves us deeply. We would be foolish to go back to the law and abandon a gracious Gospel and loving Father. Today, we are continuing in our Good News series, revealing the goodness of the Gospel. In Christ we get to experience the truest form of freedom, eternal joy in Him. We are promised of this truth, within His word are several points and promises from Christ that reveal His ultimate desire—to save and free us from the law and burden of sin. In the depths of your souls, maybe you felt a stirring, or deep longing for something more, to be freed. When we enter in relationship with Jesus and put our trust in His Gospel, we get to step into the freedom He promises. Jesus states that we are children of the promise and free in Christ. The law before Christ brought slavery, but the Gospel brings freedom, and we should stand firm in that freedom. We can’t muster this freedom on our own, it’s a gift given through Christ alone. This week we continue in our series, Good News, studying the Gospel and how it shapes our lives. As we seek after Christ and are continually molded by Him, we are given three action steps. We are to remember our former bondage—where we were before Christ, return to our former zeal, and receive Christ’s formative work. When we allow ourselves to be formed by the Gospel, we experience the freedom that can only come when we are in Christ. Our Savior renews us each day, as we surrender ourselves to His work and give Him the space to shape and form us. Today, we are continuing our series, Good News, looking at the truth and hope of the Gospel. We'll ask the question; how do we experience the blessings of God? In Galatians, we see how Paul desires the church of Galatia to not believe in a false gospel, he urges them to believe in the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s blessing comes by faith alone in Christ alone. In obedience to Christ, we must surrender our efforts and trust in Jesus, He has won, and we can have hope in Him. Paul asked direct questions to the church in this passage that allowed them to think through how they were experiencing the blessings of God in their lives. As we dive into another week of our Good News message series, we will see this week that the Gospel alone is all we need. Paul writes in his letter to Galatia that he has been crucified with Christ, stating that Christ lives in him, no longer did he allow his flesh to lead him. As fellow believers in Jesus, this truth is the same for us. When we came to know Christ Jesus, we surrendered our lives to Him, from there our lives are transformed by faith in God. In this chapter, we see that nothing but the Gospel is needed. The Gospel is our source of freedom, ministry, and justification. We have access to lean on Jesus at any moment. The Gospel is rich in hope for a weary world.
