Ep 199Walking in the Gospel - Good News: Part 10 - Woodside Bible Church - Student Ministries Director - Drenzel Wright

This week we are finishing our study through the book of Galatians, learning the Good News of Christ and the freedom found in salvation through Jesus. In the final chapter, Paul addresses the church urging them to keep each other accountable and to bear one another's burdens. As we strive to walk in the Gospel we must keep in step with God's spirit. We can do this by immersing ourselves in Christ-centered community and freedom. God gave us the gift of fellowship; we have each other to lean on and to have accountability as we walk in the light of God's spirit. Ep 198The Gospel Life of the Spirit - Reach: Part 9 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

Today we continue in our message series in Galatians, Good News, diving into what it means to be free in Christ. Before we come to know Christ, we long to gratify our desires, our flesh. We live with internal passions to be fulfilled; every time we fulfill them, they grow. Once we have come to know Jesus and accepted Him as our savior, we learn that those in Christ have crucified their flesh along with their passions and desires. Yet, we still may experience these desires from our old life. So, as we learn to walk with the Spirit, Jesus points out a few steps we should take as we walk alongside Him. We must recognize that we have an inner struggle that goes towards fulfilling our flesh, we should acknowledge the fruit that is growing in our life and put our flesh to death in Christ Jesus. When we walk with the Spirit and crucify our flesh, we will see godly attributes growing in our lives like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Join us in the newest message of the series, The Gospel Life of the Spirit, and learn how to walk with the Spirit.

Ep 197Gospel Freedom - Good News: Part 8 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

We are continuing in our Galatians series, Good News, studying the freedom from the law and security found in the Gospel. When we find ourselves going back to our old ways, habits, or sins, it's as if we are re-enslaving ourselves to the law and forfeiting our liberty in Jesus. Paul shows us that we lose the benefits of Christ, the scandal of the cross, and the motivation to love when we revert to the law and believe the lie that we can do it all on our own efforts. In some ways freedom is scary, we can find comfort in thinking that our faith is based on works, but Jesus is desiring us to know in deep ways that our faith is based solely by believing in the Gospel and accepting Christ as our Savior. Jesus saved us by grace alone, despite our flaws and shortcomings, He loves us deeply. We would be foolish to go back to the law and abandon a gracious Gospel and loving Father. Listen to the latest message, Gospel Freedom, to learn more on how you can stand firm in the freedom of the Gospel and abandon the law.

Ep 196The Gospel is Not Self-Effort – Good News: Part 7 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

Today, we are continuing in our Good News series, revealing the goodness of the Gospel. In Christ we get to experience the truest form of freedom, eternal joy in Him. We are promised of this truth, within His word are several points and promises from Christ that reveal His ultimate desire—to save and free us from the law and burden of sin. In the depths of your souls, maybe you felt a stirring, or deep longing for something more, to be freed. When we enter in relationship with Jesus and put our trust in His Gospel, we get to step into the freedom He promises. Jesus states that we are children of the promise and free in Christ. The law before Christ brought slavery, but the Gospel brings freedom, and we should stand firm in that freedom. We can’t muster this freedom on our own, it’s a gift given through Christ alone. Join us in the newest message of the series, The Gospel is Not Self-Effort and walk in the true freedom of Christ, that frees our souls and satisfies our hearts.

Ep 195Gospel Formation – Good News: Part 6 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Brad House

This week we continue in our series, Good News, studying the Gospel and how it shapes our lives. As we seek after Christ and are continually molded by Him, we are given three action steps. We are to remember our former bondage—where we were before Christ, return to our former zeal, and receive Christ’s formative work. When we allow ourselves to be formed by the Gospel, we experience the freedom that can only come when we are in Christ. Our Savior renews us each day, as we surrender ourselves to His work and give Him the space to shape and form us. Join us this week in the newest message of the Good News series, Gospel Formation, and walk in the freedom of the Gospel of Christ.

Ep 194The Gospel of Blessing – Good News: Part 4 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

Today, we are continuing our series, Good News, looking at the truth and hope of the Gospel. We'll ask the question; how do we experience the blessings of God? In Galatians, we see how Paul desires the church of Galatia to not believe in a false gospel, he urges them to believe in the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s blessing comes by faith alone in Christ alone. In obedience to Christ, we must surrender our efforts and trust in Jesus, He has won, and we can have hope in Him. Paul asked direct questions to the church in this passage that allowed them to think through how they were experiencing the blessings of God in their lives. We can ask ourselves those same questions today. Tune in to the latest message of the series, The Gospel of Blessing, and be bold in acknowledging the state of your heart.

Ep 193The Gospel Plus Nothing Else – Good News: Part 3 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Matt Zellars

As we dive into another week of our Good News message series, we will see this week that the Gospel alone is all we need. Paul writes in his letter to Galatia that he has been crucified with Christ, stating that Christ lives in him, no longer did he allow his flesh to lead him. As fellow believers in Jesus, this truth is the same for us. When we came to know Christ Jesus, we surrendered our lives to Him, from there our lives are transformed by faith in God. In this chapter, we see that nothing but the Gospel is needed. The Gospel is our source of freedom, ministry, and justification. We have access to lean on Jesus at any moment. The Gospel is rich in hope for a weary world. Join us in the newest message of the series, The Gospel Plus Nothing Else, we pray a fire is stirred in your heart to be a minister of the Good News of Jesus.

Ep 190Anger – Metamorphosis: Part 6 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

Our Metamorphosis series has been focused on transforming our minds to align with Christ, this week we will discuss anger and learn how we can reframe our mindset on how we handle anger. James 1:19 states we should be “quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” As we choose to deal with our anger lovingly, we should seek wisdom from scripture because Godly wisdom produces peace among people. When seeking wisdom from God's word we will see that Godly wisdom brings peace and Godly wisdom takes action, while worldly wisdom produces chaos. In our pursuit to deal with our anger in ways that glorify God, let us seek out scripture and wisdom from above. Join us in the latest sermon of the series and be challenged to change how you respond and act on your anger.

Ep 189Adversity – Metamorphosis: Part 5 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

This week in our Metamorphosis series, we looked at adversity and found out how we can look at adversity as opportunity rather than a hindrance. In Philippians, Paul writes about his imprisonment due to sharing the Gospel, Paul is an example of how adversity can cause us to grow in Christ. Paul even exclaims, “for me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” We have an opportunity to bring the Gospel everywhere, we should not be ashamed of it, for Christ dwells in us if we have placed our trust in Him alone. Embracing adversity requires us to know that endurance inspires faith, we should rejoice in Gospel proclamation and recognize that adversity is a win-win. Join us in the latest sermon of the series, Embracing Adversity, and be encouraged to rejoice in your difficulties because when we are weak then we are strong.

Ep 188Apathy – Metamorphosis: Part 4 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

As we continue in our Metamorphosis series, this week we will address the issue of apathy. Our succumbing to apathy can go unnoticed, not realizing we have fallen into this frame of mind. So how do we get out of that mindset? We must be transformed by the word of God. An urgency to spread the gospel defeats apathy. We are to follow the ways of scripture and devote ourselves to love, show hospitality, and serve with diligence. Join us in the latest sermon of the series and be challenged to defeat the apathetic tendencies we fall into, to gain an urgency to share the gospel with a waiting world.

Ep 187Ambition – Metamorphosis: Part 3 – Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

In our message series, Metamorphosis, we are talking about transforming our minds with the word of God. Today, we will hear how our ambitions are welcomed in Christ, but we must submit them to God in an act of obedience to Him. Jesus had ambition, a ton of it. His ambitions were submitted to God, and He led them out with fervor—being the atonement for all. We have the chance to align our dreams and ambitions, just as Jesus did with God. When we submit them to God, He will exceed our expectations and align our desire with the desires of His own. We must put off worldly ambition and put on godly ambition. Listen further to the latest sermon of the series, as we learn what it means to see how God’s work changes our ambition.

Our response to this mercy looks like committing your body to the Lord, rejecting the world's thinking, and receiving a new mind. How will you respond to the mercy He has shown you? Join us in the first message of this series, Metamorphosis, and allow God to transform your mind.

We are in our second week of our series, Reach Where There Is No Church, preaching on the topic and importance of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Christians are called to bring the Gospel to the world, we can read our direct calling in Scripture. We are a part of the body of Christ, we have brothers and sisters who are all on the same mission with us, thankfully we don’t have to do it alone. Our mission is to reach, to reach until all have heard. We can do this together as a body of Christ by discipling one another in mission. We can have courage to spread the Gospel because we are empowered by Christ. Join us in the latest sermon of the series, Until All Have Heard, and be encouraged to share the Gospel.

The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. Maybe you’ve asked the question, “How do we live out the Gospel to reach the world?” It can seem daunting to look out to a world in darkness and try to reach all who are lost, thank God that we are not alone in our journey; we have a family who are all a part of this commission. Ep 177What God Says About Femininity - What God Says About Part 6 - Pastor Jim Dahlke

As we wrap up our What God Says About series, it is necessary that we look at what God says about femininity, especially on a day that celebrates the wonderful mothers in our lives. God’s word is clear that it values women, and their role in the church, in families, and in the world. Proverbs 31 is one of the most highly quoted scriptures that points to the value and need for women. We see three important points from this chapter on how to honor the women in our lives. We should acknowledge her value, affirm her work, and applaud her character. Godly women are an essential part of the world, the church, and the home. Join us in the final sermon of the series, What God Says About Femininity.

Ep 176What God Says About Sex - What God Says About: Part 5 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

We have been working through our What God Says About series. This week we tackle a topic that is not often talked about in the church—sex. Scripture has much to say about it though, so it seems important we discuss what God has to say. God makes it abundantly clear that sex was created to be shared within the covenant of marriage, as two become one. The stain of sin in this world has sadly tainted the view of sex, painting it in a way that one should explore their sexuality, rather than saving it for the scaredness of marriage. The Bible makes it clear that sex is a good gift from God, to be shared only in marriage. As we aim to honor God in our sex lives we see three truths within scripture—to delight in your spouse, honor wise boundaries, and understand the danger of adultery. Tune in to the latest sermon of our series, What God Says About Sex.

Ep 175What God Says About Work - What God Says About Part 4 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

We are going through our series, What God Says About. This week we look at What God Says About Work. What we do matters to God. We are the representation of Christ, how we work reflects Him. Colossians 3:23 says we should “work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.” God commands us to work hard and to serve Him in all we do. In Proverbs, we find some examples of things that hinder us from fulfilling our call to work. There are three examples of obstacles we may face when it comes to work: laziness, distractedness, and selfishness. Proverbs 6 shows us that we have a calling to fulfill, that call is to work. We see in Genesis God giving Adam and Eve the call to tend to the garden and care for the animals. That was a privilege they held, given from God. Our tasks should be seen as an honor and our work as a privilege. Listen to the latest sermon of the series, What God Says About Work.

Ep 174What God Says About Friendship - What God Says About Part 3 - Pastor Alex Armstrong

For the past few Sundays, we have been traversing through Proverbs. Looking at God’s wisdom and applying it to our everyday interactions. This past Sunday, we discussed What God Says About Friendships. God created us to do life in community with one another. To not walk alone though the hardships that life bring us. His design in friendship is beautiful. But in our fallenness that beauty He made, can easily be tarnished. Proverbs gives us many insights into how to handle friendships with wisdom. God says that we should love our friends with sincerity, give them encouragement and correction when needed, and to seek after righteousness. Ep 173What God Says About Words - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

Last Sunday, we started a new series, What God Says About, taking insights from the book of Proverbs, and applying God’s wisdom to some everyday situations we may face. When it comes to the way we speak to others, what we say matters. Our words hold much power. We have the choice to speak words of life or words of death over those we interact with each day. From Proverbs, we pick up a few pieces of advice when it comes to this topic. We should aim to speak less and listen more, to speak words of grace and encouragement, and to speak words of truth and challenge. As we strive to build each other up, our Heavenly Father encourages us to be careful in our words and to speak words that bring life. Join us in the next sermon of the series, What God Says About Words.

Ep 172What God Says About Wisdom - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

This Sunday we are diving into a new series, What God Says About, looking at the book of Proverbs to glean wisdom from about how to lean on God in the situations we face each day. Proverbs 3 tells us, the one who finds wisdom and understanding is blessed. Wisdom guides us in the decisions we make every day. As we seek Christ to be emulated in our lives, we should look to honor Him through our choices, who better to ask for wisdom from than Christ. For God’s wisdom is supremely precious. It is by wisdom that we live a good life, that God created the world, and that we are protected. Join us this Sunday in the first sermon of the series, What God says About Wisdom.

Ep 171Belief that is Alive - Easter at Woodside - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

This Easter Sunday we are ending our 'Believe' series, by diving into a commonly asked question, why should I believe in Jesus? There are many differing opinions that circulate in our culture, doubting the existence of Jesus. It can be hard to remain faithful to a God we can’t physically see, especially when our doubts drown out what we know to be true. Good news, Jesus isn’t shocked by our doubts! He invites us to bring our doubts to Him; He knows them and He will reveal the truth to us—we just have to let Him in. Jesus knows our doubts, answers our fears, and blesses our faith. The resurrected King invites us to believe in Him! Join us this resurrection Sunday as we celebrate the risen King. He is alive and has stepped out of the grave; our belief in Him is alive!

Ep 170Belief that is Seen - Palm Sunday - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Alex Armstrong

final week of Jesus’ life. This Palm Sunday, we are beginning with true belief, and how that belief in Jesus shows in our lives. As we enter Holy Week, we begin with looking at Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where the crowds placed palm leaves down as Jesus entered. They celebrated Him, acknowledging that He was there, in the name of the Lord. In the days to follow they did not yet know what would come. As their belief in the Savior was evident in their celebration, we see how our belief shows through our lives. When we honor Jesus as king, bear witness to Jesus’ work, and pursue Jesus’ presence others will see Christ in us. Join us this Easter season as we walk through a new series. Ep 169Seeking Renewal - Confessions: Part 4 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

This week we are journeying on in our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, looking to Psalm 51 as a guide to help us in our journey of finding renewal in Christ. In times when we have messed up or let someone down, it is easy for us to be full of shame and think that hiding is better. But God invites us into something different. He tells us that we can experience life transforming restoration and renewal, when we go to Him in humbleness, He is faithful to help us out of our pit of sin. When we are seeking renewal, we can first ask for God’s restoration and respond to His grace with genuine worship. God’s restoration in us, should cause us to react in worship. Giving praise to God for what He has done in us and for us; giving testimony to others through what Christ has done in us. Our response should be genuine praise back to Him for what He has done for us. God’s restoration leads us into worship. Tune in to the latest message of the series, Seeking Renewal, and seek the true renewal that can only be found in Jesus.

Ep 168It's On Me - Confessions: Part 3 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Matt Zellers

As we journey on in our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, we will see that an essential part of confession is taking responsibility for our sin. In Romans, we see that Paul states, “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” When we were born into this world, we entered into sin, our need for Jesus is very great. And the first step we take in the process of confession is realizing our sin and owning up to it. In confessing before God, it is important that we acknowledge that God is just, confess our fallen nature, and receive God's wisdom. What a gift, that we do not have to do it alone. We have the blood of Christ to cover our sins, He does not leave us alone, we need to take the initial step of recognizing and confessing. Join us in the latest sermon from the series, It’s On Me, and see the freedom in confession.

Ep 167God's Immeasurable Mercy- Confessions: Part 2 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

We are continuing in our new series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, this week we will be diving into Gods mercy and how He is faithful to show us mercy. When we appeal to the character of God and appeal to the cleansing power of God, we can experience His great mercy. Rather than carrying it on our own, the Lord is calling us to confess, surrender, release our grip on struggling to clean ourselves up. We can’t do it without Him. When we believe in Him and turn toward Him, confessing before Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to show us mercy. He can mend what we have broken, and He can heal our hearts from what we have let in. We do not have to suffer in silence, no matter how easy it may seem to suppress it and clean it up on our own. We need Him. Join us in listening to the latest message of the series, God’s Immeasurable Mercy, and release your grip on the sin you may be trying to cover.

Ep 166When God Confronts Our Sin - Confessions: Part 1 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Stephen Zarrilli

We are beginning a new series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, where we will look at 2 Samuel to better understand the role confession plays in our lives for us to find renewal. Today, we begin talking about this topic looking at David’s shortcomings when he gave into temptation and sinned against God. We see that the Lord confronts our sin so that we can experience renewal. To an extent, it’s as if we can have blinders on, where we can’t see the sin that tangles itself in our lives. On the other hand, we are aware of it and may turn our heads from seeing it. God lovingly confronts us with our sin because we are blind to it, at times we have despised the word of God, and the Lord is faithful to forgive our sin when we repent before Him. Tune in to our latest sermon on this vital topic, When God Confronts Our Sin, and allow your heart to be open to what the Lord may be confronting you with.

Ep 165Faith in the Face of Lions - Daniel: Part 6 - Woodside Bible Church - Pastor Jim Dahlke

What happens when one directly disobeys God? Or when someone goes as far as to blaspheme Him? That is dangerous territory to trod on. That's why scripture warns us of how serious it is to oppose Him. To see it in others is simple, but to admit it in our lives is never easy. Whenever we challenge, insult, or forget God's character and His goodness in our lives, we act in blasphemy toward Him. It is a serious thing, thankfully we have a God of forgiveness and mercy, and we can be forgiven by faith through Jesus Christ. Today, we are diving into another chapter in Daniel, looking at the fall of a king who opposed God. In this chapter, we see that God is sovereign over ungodly kings and kingdoms. We learn lessons from history and actively try not to repeat their past mistakes—it is the same for us as Christians. The word of God is full of stories of men and women who have fallen short, disobeyed God, forgot Him, and walked away, but thanks be to God that He never stopped chasing after them. We see that through their failings and mistakes, God is present, He picked them up, patched the pieces, and restored them. Just as He did then, He is doing now, so we need to learn from what scripture states. Join us in another sermon from the series, Following a Father's Footsteps, and remember your need for Jesus.

Today, we are moving forward in our series on Daniel, looking at the journey of Daniel’s life and his courage to stay loyal to God whilst living in a culture that rejected God. Pride so simply entangles us in its grasp. It is easy to get caught in the success of what we complete or achieve and give ourselves all the credit, puffing ourselves up with more pride. God warns us of the evil that can infect our hearts when we indulge in pride. But he does not leave us to figure it out on our own, He provides careful correction for our sinful ways, sharing with us His grace. God warns us of our pride, He will judge us for our sin, and then He restores us by his grace. He is faithful to redeem us. Join us in the latest sermon of the series and hear of how you can humble yourself before the true King.
