Hello, and welcome to episode 148 with Will Hatton, more commonly known as the Broke Backpacker. This was such a super fun episode to record. There were so many laughs, quality anecdotes, and serious tips for budding travellers or entrepreneurs. Will has set up around 30 different businesses in his time, with some successes and failures along the way. He lays out all the lessons learned from those experiences. He talks us through how he created a tour in Pakistan on Snapchat, and in 24 hours, it sold out and how this helped him develop the Broke Backpacker brand. Towards the end of the episode, there is talk about his new business venture in Bali with Tribal Hostel. Will has travelled extensively over the last fifteen years and talks about his travels in India in the early days before social media. He talks about sending updates to his thirty-person strong email list about his travels. He survived on $3000 for two years in India and talked us through his techniques for this sensational statistic. We talk about Pakistan, Iran and South America for more travel wanderlust.We both come from fairly similar backgrounds in England, growing up on council estates and thinking of joining the armed forces. Hello and welcome to this latest solo episode, where I combine my week in Portland with some stories from my time at Euro 2016 in France in honour of the current Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.The first half covers my first-ever event at TravelCon with an excellent summary of my fabulous time meeting great people, listening to inspiring creators, attending fantastic events and seeing some fellow podcasters. Hello, and welcome to number 142. This week, I am joined by Joel David Bond, who has just returned from living in Kurdistan, Iraq, for the last seven years. The FBI/CIA evacuated Joel in October 2023, and we talk about that story but also Joel's love for the country, his life there, what he learned from being in that culture, and the shocking ending to his stint. In COVID, Joel was stranded on a Greek Island that housed hundreds of asylum seekers an hour's bus ride from his resort apartment; we talked about those two worlds coming together in the most unlikely scenario and some uncomfortable truths. Also nestled into the conversation is Joel's two-year stint at British Airways, and we hear some funny tales about a career that is not so seemingly dreamy.A lot is packed into this one, and we barely touched the sides with Joel's other travels, which are hitting the 90-country mark. Hello, and welcome to the 42nd episode of my trip! Today's episode is the 19th of our road trip across Canada and the USA. When leaving to backpack the world this year, we always intended to return to our campervan in Vancouver and drive to the East Coast in July. This is the seventh and last episode of the USA road trip as we enter the final state of Washington. We left Ocean City and went to Olympic Park before heading to Port Townsend. Then, we jump on the ferry across the mainland to head towards Bellingham before crossing the border into Vancouver and Canada. We had an unsavoury last night in the USA, forcing us to leave early, but it felt right.After 14,000+ miles (23,000+ km), we have our last night on Jericho Beach in Kitsilano in Vancouver. A full circle, and what a road trip!! When leaving to backpack the world this year, we always intended to return to our campervan in Vancouver and drive to the East Coast in July. This is the sixth episode of the USA road trip as we leave Harris Beach and go through Oregon. Highway 101 continues to impress with its stunning views from viewpoints off the side of the road. Then we made our way to Cannon Beach, one of the must-see places on the trip, and it turned into one of the trip's highlights! I just loved the place! Hello and welcome to the 37th episode of my trip! Today's episode is the 14th one of our road trip across Canada and the USA. When leaving to backpack the world this year, we always intended to return to our campervan in Vancouver and drive to the East Coast in July.This is the second episode of the USA road trip as we enter some new states like Rhode Island and Connecticut as well as going to one of my previous states, New York. We planned a day trip to Providence which had an awesome historic feel to it like Boston. Then we changed our minds on this roadtrip to go to New York City, we just couldn't resist. So we decided to stay in Darien in CT then train it in to Grand Central Station for both days. Near the top of our list for this trip was going to Bethal Woods to see the farm and museum for the Woodstock Festival, I loved it!
