When Rebecca Aylward went to secondary school near her home in Maesteg, South Wales, she met Joshua Davies and the pair quickly hit it off and became firm friends. Rebecca and Joshua were both academic, worked hard and were soon top of the class in their results. Soon the pair began to date, but then there were concerns about Joshua's behaviour. Concerns that continued to grow, but nobody could have predicted that Joshua was capable of extreme violence. And murder. Writing Credit: Megan Grant. Everyone like John Hirst. So much so he was even known at his home in Majorca as 'Nice John'. He was found in all the right clubs and at all the events where the wealthy ex-pats gathered on the Island.Perma-tanned John lived in an expensive villa with his wife Linda and they enjoyed a fantastic lifestyle with all the trappings of success with many exotic holidays, designer clothes and jewellery, a luxury motor boat and two top of the range cars – an open topped sports car for Linda and a top of the range Mercedes for John. But this apparent success was all based on lies and deception, and as the financial markets declined, John fled back to the UK knowing that everything was about to come crashing down, ruining the lives of many of his friends who had trusted him with their money. Kenny Carter was a world-class speedway rider known to his fans as 'King Kenny'. He was box office for the sport - outspoken, cocky and talented. For 18 year old Katie Rackliff it was just a normal night out. She had recently split up with her boyfriend and her friends thought it would do her good to get out for the evening. In the early hours of the morning, in Central Park in Plymouth, the bodies of Terry Sweet and Bernie Hawken were discovered lying just 200 yards apart in the park and it was clear that both had suffered a violent assault. Sadly, soon after the police arrived, Terry died from his injuries, aged just 64. Miraculously, Bernie survived the horrific attack, but his injuries were so severe that he spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair.Just who had attacked these two men? Last week on the UK true Crime podcast, I covered the murder of Suzanne Blamires who was killed by Stephen Griffiths in Bradford. Detectives linked this murder to other local missing people, including Susan Rushworth and Shelley Armitage. In this concluding episode, I look at how Griffiths admitted murdering Susan and Shelley, and examine other unsolved murders where Griffiths may have been responsible. On the Friday, Suzanne Blamires went missing from her housing association home in the Allerton district of Bradford. Her family were immediately concerned for her welfare, but for the police Suzanne – or Amber as she was known on the streets - was a sex worker with a heroin habit and in a life that was often chaotic, they had little to go on. And by Monday Suzanne still hadn’t been found. But that morning, as the caretaker of a block of flats in Bradford watched his CCTV of the weekends activity, he saw to his horror Suzanne being brutally attacked....Find out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comBuy my book 'Gone Fishing' about serial killer Angus Sinclairhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Gone-Fishing-Unsolved-Crimes-Sinclair/dp/1914277201Bloodhound GinPlease head to persiedistillery.com/uktc to find about more about UK True Crime Bloodhound Gin. This week, the Uk true crime podcast comes from the north-east of England, just by Durham. The A1 (M) is a busy motorway, and at 6.17pm on a summers day there were a few issues northbound due to an earlier fuel spillage. As the traffic slowed, none of the people in their cars patiently heading towards their destinations could have imagined that a 3.5 tonne lorry would not stop, and plough into the traffic, with terrible consequences.Find out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comBuy my book 'Gone Fishing' about serial killer Angus Sinclairhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Gone-Fishing-Unsolved-Crimes-Sinclair/dp/1914277201Bloodhound GinPlease head to persiedistillery.com/uktc to find about more about UK True Crime Bloodhound Gin. The international crime gang had planned everything, covered every detail. And as 33 year old Andrew Cole stood on the deck, he realised that his whole life depended on what happened in the next few hours. Andrew was listed as crew on the manifest, but his role was a very clear one – it was up to him to ensure the safe receipt, passage and transfer of the cocaine to a crew who were going to come out from the UK to take delivery of it near the English Channel. But as the Kahu reached the end of its journey from Barbados as it cruised past Guernsey, Andrew thought he heard a noise – or was it just his imagination playing tricks on him? 20 year old Anna Kenny was walking to George Square in the centre of Glasgow to get a bus home when she was taken from the street and never seen alive again. Nobody has ever been convicted of her murder. In 2021, along with co-author Chris Clark, I released a book, 'Gone Fishing' about serial killer Angus Sinclair where we suggested that Sinclair was responsible for the murder of Anna Kenny. Can it just be coincidence that Anna's friend who was with her on the night she went missing married Sinclair's brother-in-law Gordon Hamilton? And why did Sinclair and Hamilton argue so badly on the night ahead of the wedding that the two never spoke again - was this about Anna's murder? My book, 'Gone Fishing' hasn't been available for a while but now it is back available to buy on Amazon, on kindle & paperback, and you can hear more about the terrible solved - and unsolved - crimes of Angus Sinclair.Buy 'Gone Fishing' todayhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C2SJ3JMM Hosted on Acast. Carradale is a village on the east coast of Kintyre, off the west coast of Scotland and looking over the west coast of the Isle of Aaron in the Firth of Clyde. The harbour at Carradale is sheltered and looks out at the deep waters of Kibrannan Sound and then the towering mountains of Aaron. It is a beautiful, peaceful spot and if you look carefully, you will see a small memorial plaque on the harbour wall, commemorating the crew of the FV Antares, who lost their lives at sea. This week, the UK True Crime podcast is from Cambuslang, about 6 miles southeast of the centre of Glasgow, as I look at a terrifying double murder. The body of 36 year-old taxi driver Cathy McChord was found with her body crammed into the boot of the car, with the meter still running. Cathy’s cigarette lighter, inhaler and car keys placed in a straight-line. Suggesting a ritualistic element to the crime. Two months after Cathy’s murder another body was found when 48 year-old Elizabeth Walton was found in the grounds of her daughter’s school. After declining a lift home, Elizabeth was attacked and then strangled as she walked back home from an evening out. When police found Elizabeth’s body they found ritualistic and symbolic acts had taken place, similar to those of Cathy. The police knew they were searching for a double killer.....Sourceshttps://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/23184428.glasgow-double-killer-iain-scoular-trapped/https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2507&dat=19821004&id=Y8NAAAAAIBAJ&sjid=CqYMAAAAIBAJ&pg=2456,490756https://strandmag.com/dark-objects-and-why-true-crime-is-stranger-than-fiction/https://dangerousminds.net/comments/the_great_place_the_ball_swindlehttps://criminalminds.fandom.com/wiki/Iain_Scoularhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWI3_k3j3Ikhttps://www.pressreader.com/uk/sunday-mail-uk/20181028/281994673483686https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/impotent-double-killer-who-trapped-960819https://www.thefreelibrary.com/This+man+killed+my+wife.+He+will+kill+again.+No+woman+is+safe%3B...-a0107152332https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=0RgjAwAAQBAJ&pg=PT286&lpg=PT286&dq=Iain+Scoular+murder&source=bl&ots=nEACQ3feI1&sig=ACfU3U3PYfviQB_oX2Jjz5Su6HZ3lwWGbw&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj_k6LH3Lj9AhUOh1wKHYCpDJg4ChDoAXoECB4QAw#v=onepage&q=Iain%20Scoular%20murder&f=falsehttps://books.google.co.uk/books?id=yxYjAwAAQBAJ&pg=PT153&lpg=PT153&dq=Iain+Scoular+murder&source=bl&ots=DEYi1P9LJM&sig=ACfU3U1giRI52CEpE91OcNQEkRGOKn5QqQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiB46Hg3Lj9AhVim1wKHYbnDMU4FBDoAXoECB4QAw#v=onepage&q=Iain%20Scoular%20murder&f=false Hosted on Acast. This show is touring for the next year and will be at a theatre near you soon - I highly recommend buying a ticket and finding out much more about some of the investigations in which David has personally been involved, as well as other high-profile cases. After the show. David kindly agreed to chat with me about his past career and what he is currently doing, especially with helping the families of victims of crime abroad.David spent over 30 years in the police service, mainly in the CID. His work as Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) saw him managing high profile and challenging UK cross border investigations including the Glasgow Airport Terrorist Investigation and the murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk in Glasgow. It was a dark, winters morning as the 10 men group carried out maintenance on the railway line near Tebay. The men wore their safety helmets to block out the noise of their machinery and there was no look-out as the line was closed in both directions. So when the 20 tonne wagon came hurtling down the track towards them at 40 miles per hour it was completely unexpected. Harry was found downstairs in the utility room. He had been shot once, through the back, piercing his heart and killing him almost instantly. Nicola was upstairs in the main bedroom. She had been shot 4 times, three times down stairs, and a further shot as she had made her way into the bedroom, presumably to escape. The killer had placed the duvet over her head before carrying out the final fatal shot.Just who had killed this young couple in their own home in East Sussex? Hosted on Acast.
