Contemplating it....again

Yep, we've made it ten years, more than 530 "shows" taking into account multiple show episodes from events, and we're still laughing. This show firstly celebrates the 10 years with a flashback, then some reflection. And of course, the news of the week, Facebook News is back, Hisense goes 8K and the boys have had a look, plus Oppo and Huawei's next generation smartphones.

Facebook has banned all news from their platform for Australians, marking a huge shift in what we see on Facebook. Telstra's 5G is really gearing up, with 50% of the population now covered and goals to reach 75% by the middle of the year. How are the others going, and does Stephen have 5G yet? It's a massive week in technology, in some ways bigger than normal, in other ways disappointing. Kicking it off the Blokes cover the Samsung Galaxy S21 range, just how it stacks up in the market, and against other smartphones . The blokes aren't on a plane, not packing, not in Las Vegas, it's a very very strange start to the year. But CES is happening, albeit virtually, so we've got the news coming out before CES to run you through. Samsung announces huge MicroLED TVs, as well as Neo QLED TVs with Mini LED backlighting - and a really awesome Computer Monitor with a difference. Hisense announce their first 8K TVs with a 75 incher launching first, plus updates to their OS and the launch of Kayo. Plus, all the Samsung S21 rumours and speculation from us as to why they are announcing a phone next week! And at that point, match fitness kicked in, and we called it quits.

Apple Fitness launches as a fitness training program for Apple Watch users, Trev's given it a crack and has some serious views on just how good it might be. Both Trev and Stephen review the Apple Airpods Max with thoughts on sound, design, noise cancelling and price. Arlo's video Doorbell ticks a lot of boxes, Apple adds Privacy data to apps, Dan Murphy's gives you a view of store capacity limits from afar and Google helping Aussie animals.

Google has a range of new products, four in fact and the blokes break it down. While the smartphones get the headlines, it's the Chromecast with Google TV that has us talking. Android TV on a chromecast? Sign me up! And how does the Pixel 5 stack up against the Pixel 4a 5G and why would you get the 5 when the 4a 5G is so good? Telstra's plan to slowly offer 5G home internet to customers, Vodafone's new approach to unlimited, Hisense Dual Cell TV reviewed. And Trev's been buying junk again online, thoughts on that, plus Amazon's new devices too!

Great news for millions of Aussies with Gigabit broadband coming, upgrades to the HFC, FTTC networks will see faster speeds, while huge parts of the FTTN network will get Fibre if they want it. But who misses out? Not many people talking about that. Plus, Console Christmas Wars. GoPro has a new Hero9 camera, stunning stabilisation, but bigger and fatter - which is GOOD! Bose comes back with the Sleepbuds - all improved. The all new iPad and why its better and a huge step up for most people and finally, a staggering story about a man at the Commonwealth Bank.

An early start this morning for Apple's big event. The event went fast, shorter than this podcast in fact, but there was a lot to get through. Stephen and Trevor unpack the announcements bit by bit including the Apple Watch Series 6, the new features, the new Series SE and a great feature for families too. Plus the all new iPad is improved but changes very little on the outside, other than that the iPad Air is the standout - all new design, new colours and loads of power too.

Apple has announced their September event, but this one comes with a difference - will there even be an iPhone announced?
