Jesus starts the model prayer with an address to God as our Father in Heaven, and then gives three God-centered requests that should orient our prayers. We need to get our eyes off ourselves and start praying for big things that God cares deeply about.

Jesus calls his disciples to avoid hypocritical motives in prayer and go speak to God in secret because he is their Father who will listen.

Jesus warns us that we could do righteous and religious things for our own glory, and then God will not be pleased with our actions. God investigates our heart motives and will reward us accordingly. Our chief motive must be the approval of God, not the applause of other people.

Every disciple of Christ should view himself or herself as a steward of God’s gifts, who will be held accountable one day. This parable of Jesus should motivate all of his disciples to do what they can to serve God without delay or making excuses.

Jesus was born as the rightful king of the Jews, but only a group of important foreigners recognized this! We should model our worship, sacrifice, and humility after the Magi as we recognize Jesus as the only ultimate king over our lives!

The story of the conception and birth of Jesus Christ is shocking if we are willing to read it afresh. We should praise God the Son for coming to earth to be an embryo in the womb of a young girl so that we could be saved!

God calls his people to do everything out of a heart that worships him. He calls his people to be transformed as they understand more from his word.

For centuries, God’s people have expressed their worship through corporate singing. Pastor Roi preached from Psalm 95 about the reasons why we should sing enthusiastically to God.

Jesus calls his disciples to a supernatural kind of love that considers one’s own enemies as the target of their love and prayers. Ultimately, we need to soften our hearts towards the people who hurt us so we can love them like God loved us.

Jesus explains that the Old Testament civil laws about retribution are not for our interpersonal relationships. He calls us to refrain from taking revenge when we are wronged and to learn to be generous and forgiving like him.

Live with an eternal mindset by keeping Christ as the focal point of every aspect of your life.

Jesus explains that the deceptive oath formulas of his day were nonsensical and offensive to God. He cares that we tell the truth and keep our word in all situations.

Jesus highlights the sanctity of marriage to a culture that was very lax about their rules for men divorcing their wives. For a group of unmarried high school students, it is very important for them to build a Christian worldview about the topic of marriage.

Jesus explains that God judges the heart, and sexually immoral lust and fantasizes are evil in his sight. Every student needs to repent of all sexual immorality in their heart and in their lives, then make serious sacrifices to be pure.

Jesus explains that God’s law about murder in the Old Testament also points to the reality that God’s people must avoid anger in their hearts toward others. Christians must be on guard against this sin and all of its manifestations.

Jesus explains that he does not intend to render the Old Testament Scriptures null and void, but to fulfill them through his life and teaching. Therefore, we need to highly value the Old Testament by reading it and developing righteous patterns from the heart.

Jesus says that his disciples should be changing the world by their presence and behavior. We must live an obviously righteous lifestyle for God, out in the open, without fear or shame so that people will turn to God and praise him.

Jesus says that those who make peace between others and those who suffer for doing right have a great reward in the end. I want our students to gain the courage to become peacemakers for Christ no matter the insults or opposition they face in the process.

Jesus explains that the people who will experience true happiness will have their hearts set on what is good, right, and pure. Jesus promises true satisfaction to their deepest longings when their deepest longings are centered in God!

Jesus reverses our expectations about true happiness when he authoritatively declares that the people who are truly blessed (happy) are the ones who are humble in their hearts before God and others.

Our students are going to interact with money in our world for the rest of their lives, but there are so many dangerous pitfalls. They need to learn from God’s word how to deal with and think about money.

Our words are a powerful weapon that can be used for good or evil. God’s word commands us to use our words very carefully.

We all need to recognize the danger of our own pride and seek to think, talk, and act humbly for the rest of our lives.

God demands that his children speak the truth with one another. This sermon takes a deeper dive into the heart motives behind deception so that our hearts and lips can be free from deceit.

According to the Bible, the “heart” is the center of our thinking which affects every single area of our lives. We are commanded to watch over our hearts like a vigilant guard so that our speech and actions are righteous.

Proverbs 1:20-33 presents a stern warning for young people to heed the wisdom of God’s word or else they will face the bitter consequences of their own bad decisions.

Our high school students need to seek biblical wisdom for skillful living. This starts by recognizing God as their supreme authority and submitting to his words of wisdom in Proverbs

The world tells our students the lie that the best way to live is without direction. But God’s word is clear that the best kind of life is lived following God and his instructions. Our students need to choose to live in close relationship to God while they are in high school (and for the rest of their lives) because God is good, and it is the best way to live!

Paul ends the letter of Ephesians with a reminder of how much he loves those people and how much they should love Jesus Christ! We should unashamedly take every opportunity to show care and concern for other Christians as we grow in our deep affection for Jesus Christ.

Our world attacks the truthfulness of the Bible all the time. We want our students to not just believe, but to know why they believe the Bible is true. Roi preached all about this to our students this weekend.

We will only see victory in spiritual warfare if we are regularly in communication with God through prayer. Sadly, many Christians are missing out on victory because they never fervently pray for it.

God has provided great tools to fight against Satan’s schemes in our Christian lives. We must utilize the armor of God if we want to see victory over sin, temptation, discouragement, doubt, and despair.

High school students need to wise up to Satan’s horrible power, influence, and schemes so that they can stand firm against him every day.

High school students need to understand God’s instructions about hard work. Christian slaves and masters in the first century were commanded to treat each other with great respect. We must take that same attitude to all of our work situations in the 21st century!

High school students need to learn how to respond to your sin and turn from it in a way that pleases God.
