God’s word is clear that every person is either a child of God or a child of the devil and one’s lifestyle shows one’s spiritual parentage to the world. 1 John 3:1-10 will bring great comfort to true children of God and great fear for those who practice habitual sin and thus prove they are not aligned with God. Our students need to respond rightly to this truth.

We are warned that those who walk away from the faith were never in a right relationship with God. Church kids should be on guard against walking away by being firmly rooted in the truth.

The apostle John warns Christians to stop loving the world and the evil things in the world because that kind of love is incompatible with loving God. Our students need to be warned against the allure of the world so that they would love God most!

We are all sinners before God, but only some people agree with God about how wrong their sin truly is. There is no hope for forgiveness from God without our humble recognition of our sins and the atoning sacrifice of Jesus.

The apostle John reminds his readers that God is morally perfect and anyone in a right relationship with God will reflect God’s holiness in their life because the sacrifice of Jesus cleanses them from sin.

This high school ministry exists to prepare your students to live the Christian life in a non-Christian world until they grow old and die. We want True North to be the most important group that your students are a part of (besides your family) for their high school years.

Jesus demands that we do something about what he has taught us. It is not good enough for us to know or agree with what he says, but we need to obey. Our students need to just do what Jesus says over and over again.

God cares deeply about our thoughts, and we ought to be very careful to train our patterns of thoughts to glorify God. It is better for ourselves and everyone around us if our thought life is righteous.

Jesus warns us that making a profession of faith in him is not enough to get us into heaven. Many people who claim that Jesus is Lord will go to hell. Those who do the will of God from the heart prove that have a saving relationship with Jesus.

Jesus warns his disciples to avoid false teachers and the eternal destruction they lead their followers towards. Our students need to grow in discernment so they are not misled by false spokesmen for God.

Jesus ends his Sermon on the Mount with 4 concluding illustrations. The first calls upon Old Testament wisdom imagery of two paths which lead to life or to death. Jesus calls his listening to respond to his teaching, and our students must submit to God and obey him or their lives will end in eternal destruction.

Don't fall for the lies of self love but instead obey God's commands to love him completely and love others sacrificially.

Jesus summarizes his teaching about loving other people by telling his disciples to do for people the things they would like other people to do for them. This ethical principle, sometimes called “The Golden Rule,” is a great standard to apply to our actions towards others.

Jesus invites his disciples to repeatedly ask God for what they need, trusting that God cares enough to answer.

Jesus tells his disciples to guard against an attitude of hypocritical criticism, but to deal with their own sin first so that they can help other Christians grow In Christ.

Jesus tells his disciples that anxiety has no place in their thinking because they have a sovereign Father in heaven who cares for them. We must never dwell on anxious thoughts, but turn to God and trust him.

Jesus says that his disciples should make their top priority God’s kingdom and righteousness. Our students need to put God’s priorities first now and for the rest of their lives.

In this section about treasure and money, Jesus uses the image of two conditions of the eye and the image of two different slave-owners to show the contrast between those who labor for earthly treasure and those who strive for heavenly treasure. It’s time for our students to kill the idolatry of materialism and serve God wholeheartedly.

Jesus explains that is foolish to spend your life accumulating earthly treasures that are fleeting, and it is wise to invest your life storing up treasures in heaven. There is no better time for our students to learn this lesson than right now!

Jesus told “The Parable of the Two Sons” to the Jewish religious leaders to prove that repentant sinners are going to heaven before hypocritical religious people. Lots of kids make professions of faith while they are young and going to church, but only those who actually do God’s will with their lives show evidence of true saving faith.

Jesus warns his disciples to avoid the hypocritical heart that seeks attention and admiration from others for devotional activities such as fasting. While fasting for the sake of focused prayer and increased devotion to God is rare in the modern American church, our students would gain a lot by experiencing a voluntary and devotional fast.

Accept God’s act of love by trusting in Jesus to be saved from eternal death.

Jesus elaborates on the forgiveness clause of the Lord’s Prayer by telling people that forgiven people should be forgiving to those around them. But sadly, many people deceive themselves about their own standing before God, and an unforgiving heart is a certain sign of a wrong relationship with God.

Jesus tells us to pray for our basic needs, forgiveness from sin, and protection from temptation and sin. The problem is, entitled people don’t pray because they think God owes them, and self-sufficient people don’t pray because they don’t think they need God. We ought with an attitude of genuine dependence on God.

Jesus starts the model prayer with an address to God as our Father in Heaven, and then gives three God-centered requests that should orient our prayers. We need to get our eyes off ourselves and start praying for big things that God cares deeply about.

Jesus calls his disciples to avoid hypocritical motives in prayer and go speak to God in secret because he is their Father who will listen.

Jesus warns us that we could do righteous and religious things for our own glory, and then God will not be pleased with our actions. God investigates our heart motives and will reward us accordingly. Our chief motive must be the approval of God, not the applause of other people.

Every disciple of Christ should view himself or herself as a steward of God’s gifts, who will be held accountable one day. This parable of Jesus should motivate all of his disciples to do what they can to serve God without delay or making excuses.

Jesus was born as the rightful king of the Jews, but only a group of important foreigners recognized this! We should model our worship, sacrifice, and humility after the Magi as we recognize Jesus as the only ultimate king over our lives!

The story of the conception and birth of Jesus Christ is shocking if we are willing to read it afresh. We should praise God the Son for coming to earth to be an embryo in the womb of a young girl so that we could be saved!

God calls his people to do everything out of a heart that worships him. He calls his people to be transformed as they understand more from his word.

For centuries, God’s people have expressed their worship through corporate singing. Pastor Roi preached from Psalm 95 about the reasons why we should sing enthusiastically to God.

Jesus calls his disciples to a supernatural kind of love that considers one’s own enemies as the target of their love and prayers. Ultimately, we need to soften our hearts towards the people who hurt us so we can love them like God loved us.

Jesus explains that the Old Testament civil laws about retribution are not for our interpersonal relationships. He calls us to refrain from taking revenge when we are wronged and to learn to be generous and forgiving like him.

Live with an eternal mindset by keeping Christ as the focal point of every aspect of your life.

Jesus explains that the deceptive oath formulas of his day were nonsensical and offensive to God. He cares that we tell the truth and keep our word in all situations.

Jesus highlights the sanctity of marriage to a culture that was very lax about their rules for men divorcing their wives. For a group of unmarried high school students, it is very important for them to build a Christian worldview about the topic of marriage.

Jesus explains that God judges the heart, and sexually immoral lust and fantasizes are evil in his sight. Every student needs to repent of all sexual immorality in their heart and in their lives, then make serious sacrifices to be pure.

Jesus explains that God’s law about murder in the Old Testament also points to the reality that God’s people must avoid anger in their hearts toward others. Christians must be on guard against this sin and all of its manifestations.
