Ep 20Megan Meier and the MySpace Hoax
It was September, 2006 and Megan Meier was 13 years old when the MySpace friend request popped up. It was from a boy named Josh Evans, and everything about him was perfect. Maybe a little too perfect... Talking to Josh made Megan happier than she'd been in a long time, because she experienced low self esteem and depression. Seemingly out of nowhere, Josh turned on Megan and began firing hateful messages at her, and this ended in absolute tragedy. But little did anyone know, Josh Evans wasn't real. Someone close to her was behind it all... Ep 14The Collar Bomb Heist Part 1
Happy New Year, peeps and creeps! We are back this week with part 1 of the Collar Bomb Heist. On August 28, 2003 in Erie, PA, Brian Wells robbed a PNC bank for somewhere around $9,000, much less than the $250k he was trying to get. He was arrested nearby shortly after the robbery, and police discovered he had a bomb locked around his neck. Brian told police that a group of black men had grabbed him while he’d been out on a pizza delivery, chained the bomb around his neck at gunpoint, and forced him to rob the bank. The bomb went off, killing Brian Wells, before the bomb squad could even arrive. After his death, police found notes in his car, detailing a scavenger hunt he was to go on after he’d gotten the money that would lead him to all the keys and codes necessary to unlock the collar, and the police were left with so many questions. Who was the mastermind behind the twisted plot to rob the PNC bank, what was the point of the scavenger hunt, and just how innocent was Brian Wells? Ep 13The Goose Green Stabbing
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, peeps and creeps! This week, your gift from True Crime Creepers is the story of the Goose Green Stabbings. In 2003, 14 year old John was stabbed twice: once in the chest and once in the abdomen. Though he survived, his friendship with his best friend, 16 year old Mark, did not. John told police it was a crazed mask wearing stabbing man that stabbed him, but the truth was - it was Mark. Police thought that was the end of their investigation, until they got their hands on 46,000 pages of chat transcripts from an MSN chatroom Mark and John were highly involved in, and police would see that this case involved everything from British spies to the Queen herself as they sought to understand what happened between these two teenage boys. UPDATE: Scott Peterson and Richard Glossip
bonusHey peeps and creeps! We have an extra episode for you this week - an update on two cases we have previously covered! New suspects have been uncovered by a private investigator in the Scott Peterson case, as well as a new theory Kristin dug up. Could Laci have been killed at the hands of a serial killer? We also have an update on the Richard Glossip case! His attorney, Don Knight, has uncovered a staggering 32 NEW witnesses that can testify in his defense, but right now the state will never hear from these witnesses. An Oklahoma representative is trying to change these laws that keep death row inmates from being able to present new evidence in their case if their appeals have all been exhausted. Ep 9Anna Delvey: The SoHo Con Artist
Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends! This week, Kristin tells Mogab the story of Anna Delvy - one of the greatest con artists of our generation, which is saying a lot since Millennials can claim both Billy McFarland from Fyre Fest and Elizabeth Holmes from Theranos. Everyone loves a good scam story. And this is definitely a good scam story. So good, in fact, that Shonda Rhimes is making a show with Netflix about Anna Delvy: the German heiress trying to open her Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good (or something like that...). She lives in New York's fanciest hotels, is at all the best parties, and loves to tip big and take lavish trips with her friends. But weird things keep happening: her credit cards keep getting declined, or she's having trouble tapping into her trust fund, so her friends start covering for her. Only, she's not a German heiress. And she doesn't actually have any money. So how did she manage to con all her friends Into funding this lifestyle she wanted so badly? I want to point people towards the National Center for Victims of Crime, who have a Financial Crime Resource Center. They wanted to provide a resource for victim-centered services in the area of financial fraud and so they produce a guide called Taking Action: An Advocate’s Guide to Assisting Victims of Financial Fraud This guide is designed to provide advocates with practical victim-centered resources to help navigate the various options available for reporting crimes, protecting other assets and preventing re-victimization. It also offers advice on how to assist with psychological and – where possible – financial recovery. She and her coworker, Brittany Norwood, were brutally attacked In the store after closing by two masked assailants, and though Brittany managed to survive the horrific ordeal, Jayna tragically lost her life. The case would prove tricky to solve, and would take the police on twists and turns as they attempted to put together the evidence from the crime scene. Ep 6The Murder of Laci Peterson Part 1
Mogab has been living under a rock and she knows it, okay! So Kristin tells her about the murder of Laci Peterson, who disappeared Christmas Eve 2002 when she was 8 months pregnant. Everyone seems convinced that her husband, Scott, murdered her, especially when it’s revealed that Scott had been having an affair with Amber Frey, and the media would go on to convict him night after night in the court of public opinion. However, the evidence against Scott is far from overwhelming. In part 1, Mogab and Kristin debate the guilt of Scott as Kristin takes Mogab through the events of the case, from the day Laci went missing to the day Scott is arrested for her murder. Ep 1The Questionable Case of Richard Glossip
Welcome to the first episode of True Crime Creepers! In this episode, Kristin tells Mogab the story of Richard Glossip, who Is on death row In Oklahoma for hiring Justin Sneed to kill his boss, Barry Van Treese. His conviction Is based almost solely on Sneed's word, with no good evidence connecting him to this crime. How did the word of an accomplice carry enough weight to secure a conviction? Just a warning that Mogab's audio quality is not tip top because she accidentally recorded through airpods Instead of the nice mic she has. Whoops. This has been rectified in all other episodes.
