How exactly do you give more while also spending less? The answer is to give more relationally. Giving more isn’t about giving more toys, more gadgets, more clothes, more gift cards, or more stuff. Instead of giving PRESENTS, we give more PRESENCE! The best gift is to give more of yourself to others. The incarnation of Jesus shows us, in very practical terms, what it means to give relationally.

In this episode, Elizabeth has the privilege and pleasure of talking with Greg Holder, co-founder of the Advent Conspiracy. He opens up on the origin of the movement and shares how the Advent Conspiracy works. He also tells us about the importance of each of the tenets, and what his prayer is for the 'watching world' this Christmas. You don't want to miss this conversation.

Christmas is a season more: more food, more gifts, more bills, more debt! Is excessive spending really the best way to Celebrate Jesus' birthday? Many people set out in pursuit of a dream with a clear vision from God, but somewhere along the way they get distracted and the dream goes off course. This Sunday we continue our study of Joseph’s life by exploring two of the biggest distractions that keep us achieving our dreams.

Not all dreams are sweet. All of us have been awoken by a bad dream or a nightmare. But what happens when our life feels like a bad dream? When we find ourselves in scary places or frightening situations? This Sunday we continue our study of the life of Joseph and we’ll learn how we can respond to life’s dark moments.

In this series we are learning about the story of the bible's favourite dreamer, Joseph.We don’t like disruptions. All of us try to manage and micromanage our lives to avoid the unexpected. But dreams mess everything up! When God gives us a dream, it almost always disrupts our equilibrium and rocks the boat. That’s what happened to Joseph. This week we begin our new teaching series Livin’ the Dream by looking at the dream God gave to Joseph and how it turned his world upside down. Are you willing to be disrupted by God’s dream for your life?

It's a pretty radical statement: "Happy are the poor?" What did Jesus mean when he spoke these words 2000 years ago? This Sunday our guest preacher, Michael Messenger, will help us unpack these words and challenge us to embrace our own spiritual poverty in Jesus' upside-down kingdom.

Despite all the advancements of modern society, are we any happier? While we tend to scorn the wisdom of past generations, maybe the ancients knew something about happiness that we don’t. In the final week of our Fixer Upper series we are exploring how renovated hearts leads to restored relationships. The work of renovation isn’t a DIY project: we need good people in our lives to help us grow. So, how can we create life-giving relationships while restoring broken ones as well?

The most visible part of any reno project is the exterior. Nobody sees the plumbing, they see the fixtures. Nobody sees the wiring, they see the lights. The same thing happens when we undergo a spiritual renovation in our heart. Eventually, those changes inside us will show up on the outside: in our behaviours, decisions, and choices. Are you ready to make real changes in your life?

99% of the decisions we make are not based on facts or truth but are rooted in emotions/feelings. Joy, fear, love, acceptance, anger, greed, are all different forms of emotions we experience in our life, and all of them affect our spiritual health. Luke Lima, a student at Wycliffe College, will teach us that managing our emotions is essential to renovating our spiritual lives.

A major renovation often involves rewiring in order to fix something broken, or make something old become new again. This is no different from a major renovation of the heart - transforming our lives requires rewiring our thoughts; and this may mean changing the ideas, images, and information that we currently hold onto. Join us for this episode as Rob Hurkmans talks to us about renewing our minds on the journey to transforming our lives.

Renovations aren’t cheap! The cost of labour, time and materials need to be carefully weighed out before beginning a project. Spiritual formation is no different. Before we invite Jesus to renovate our hearts and remodel our lives, we need to realize that this kind of spiritual renewal comes with a cost. The question is, are we willing to pay the price? This week, our summer student Erikan Olaye helps work out a budget for the process of spiritual formation.

This week, we began a new sermon series titled Fixer Upper - Renovation of the Heart. Rob talks to us about our spiritual houses, places where if we let God in as our general contractor, our 'dream spiritual house' can be a reality. And after all, we're all in need of some TLC, because we are all 'fixer uppers'.
