On this episode I chatted with Major General Mancino about his families journey through the Oklahoma National Guard. Major General Thomas H. Mancino was appointed as the Adjutant General for Oklahoma by Gov. Kevin J. Stitt in November 2021. In this function, he serves as the top military advisor to the Governor and commands the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard. General Mancino commissioned in 1992 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oklahoma State University. In previous assignments, he has served as the 90th Troop Command Commander, Oklahoma Army National Guard and Director of Information Technology/G6, Oklahoma Army National Guard. General Mancino has commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels. Yvonne Kauger is a fourth-generation Oklahoman from Colony and grew up on what was recently deemed an Oklahoma Centennial Ranch. She graduated from Colony High School as class valedictorian and from Southwestern Oklahoma State University magna cum laude. She became a certified Medical Technologist to put herself through Oklahoma City University’s night law school and graduated first in her class. She worked for Rogers, Travis, and Jordon, before becoming the first woman judicial assistant to the Oklahoma Supreme Court for Justice Ralph B. Hodges. On this episode I chatted with Ali Khalafalla who is an Egyptian Olympic swimmer. He represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He placed 23rd in the 50 Freestyle, in Rio 2016. In Tokyo 2020, he placed 24th in the same event. A feat that has never been accomplished in Egypt's history. After breaking the Egyptian record that stood strong for 22 years, he set a new Egyptian record in California in 2017 which paved the way to become the fastest Egyptian swimmer in Egypt's history with a time of 22.12. He further took Egypt's sprint swimming further after he clocked his personal best in Tarragona, Spain at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. Thus becoming the first and only Egyptian to break the 22 second barrier in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.97 seconds. in 2021, the best time and Egyptian record in the 50 meters freestyle was lowered and currently stands at 21.94. On this episode I chatted with Larry Nichols, an Oklahoman who has made quite the impact on our state. Oklahoma native J. Larry Nichols was born and raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Casady School (1960) before receiving his geology degree from Princeton University (1964) and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan (1967). Nichols served as a Special Assistant to Assistant Attorney General William Rehnquist in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and was a Law Clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren and Justice Tom Clark of the U.S. Supreme Court. He co-founded Devon Energy Corporation with his father, John, in 1970 and was named president of the company in 1976 and chief executive officer in 1980. He has served on many community boards including the OKC Chamber of Commerce, Allied Arts, Oklahoma Foundation for the Humanities, Casady School, and Mercy Health Center. Among his honors are the Dean A. McGee Award (1997) and the Independent Petroleum Association’s Leadership Award (1997). Thanks to our sponsors. On this episode I sat with former Governor of Oklahoma Frank Keating. Frank grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. His 30-year career in law enforcement and public service included service as an FBI agent, U.S. Attorney and state prosecutor, and Oklahoma House and Senate member, including service as a Republican senate leader. He served Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush in the Treasury, Justice, and Housing departments. As Governor, Keating won national acclaim in 1995 for his compassionate and professional handling of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City. In the aftermath of the tragedy, he raised more than six million dollars to fund scholarships for the nearly 200 children left with only one or no parents. Keating currently serves as a regent for the University of Oklahoma and lives with his wife Cathy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They have three children and eleven grandchildren.
