256. Created Specifically for Your Motherhood

Welcome back to the kitchen. Today, Bethany reminds listeners that motherhood wasn’t something that just happened to you—it’s a role you were meant to fill. Scripture reminds us that as mothers, we were chosen and guided by God to fulfill this important purpose. Psalm 139:13-16 beautifully expresses the intentionality in which God created us. These verses highlight that we were crafted with thought and love, designed with a clear purpose in mind. We aren’t just existing—we were made for something meaningful. In the challenges of motherhood, it’s easy to feel like you’re not enough. But here’s the truth: God created you with this role in mind. In your moments of weakness, he is there to provide the strength you need. This isn’t just a comforting idea—it’s a powerful truth. So as you move through your day, remember this: you are chosen, you are supported, and you are equipped. Let this truth settle into your heart and change how you view yourself and your role as a mother. 255. How Can I See My Child with a God-Centered Lens

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Today, Bethany invites us to explore Psalm 103, focusing on verses 8-9, and how we can apply this perspective to our parenting. As parents, we often face challenging days where it's easy to become frustrated or lose patience with our children. But Bethany reminds listeners to take a moment to see our children as God sees us. He looks at us and sees the fullness of who we are—the places we struggle. Yet, despite all this, he is fully aware of us and still has compassion. God’s compassion isn't based on our perfection, it’s rooted in his steadfast love. When we align our hearts with God's and understand his heartbeat for our kids, we start to mirror his patience and love. Instead of quick frustration, we can offer understanding. Instead of anger, we can provide grace. This doesn’t mean we ignore misbehavior but that we approach it with the same compassion and grace that God extends to us. Psalm 103 reminds us that just as God is compassionate and gracious to us, we too can extend that same compassion to our children. By doing so, we not only reflect God’s love but also help our children understand his grace and mercy. 254. Gospel Framework for Motherhood

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany anchors listeners today with one of her favorite scriptures: Titus 3:4-7. As parents, we often mess up. We become irritable and stumble into sin as we step into our day, and our kids do the same. But remember, He saved us from the mess we’re walking in—not because we do things right, but because of His mercy. He washes us with renewal. The world wants us to believe we have to get everything right, and we often compare ourselves, thinking we are failing. But God reminds us that we can start again. We get to see ourselves in the light of Jesus and recognize that we have been regenerated. It's an ongoing process for our children, too. He has saved us because of His mercy, not because of what we do. Download God’s Truth About My Identity here Connect with Bethany hereFollow her on Instagram @bethanykimsey

249. Resetting Our Hearts with Jesus

Welcome back to the kitchen table. In this episode, Bethany is joined by a wonderful friend, Joy Pitner, a remarkable woman and mother. Together, they challenge the common cultural belief that women and mothers need a glass of wine to unwind after a difficult day. Society often teaches us to look for comfort in all the wrong places, especially during moments of stress or even in times of joy. Instead of turning to a glass of wine for a reset, Bethany and Joy encourage us to pause and let Jesus realign and reframe our hearts and minds. By reflecting on these questions, you can stay grounded in truth and scripture, rather than letting the world define it for you: Where is my heart? What will bring me peace? What will heal my wounds? Joy brings a wealth of wisdom, reminding us that Jesus is our anchor. His wisdom surpasses human understanding, and by standing on his promises, we can shift our perspective to seek the him for realignment. Jesus is greater than any worldly comfort, and he calls to us without judgment, even at the end of the toughest days. By grounding ourselves in the Gospel and scripture, we can resist cultural norms and remember that God is bigger than anything we face. About Joy: Joy lives in South Carolina on a small homestead with her husband and two children. Joy has a passion for gospel-centered hospitatitly, and loves delighting people with food, creating inviting spaces, and teaching others simple ways to do the same. 245. Day 24: Praying for Our Child to Love God's Word

Welcome back to the kitchen table. As Bethany wraps up her inspiring series, we are reminded of the profound importance of standing in God’s word. We pray that our children learn to walk closely with God, developing a love for Jesus that surpasses our own. We want them to experience a passion for Him that fills their hearts and guides their lives. We want our children to not just know about God, but to truly love him. This love begins with a deep appreciation for the word of God. To truly stand in God’s word, we must immerse ourselves in the scriptures, seeing them for what they truly are: a reflection of who God is. Psalm 119:97-100 reminds us that the word of God is a source of wisdom, insight, and understanding. As we pray for our children, let us pray that they too will learn to love the word of God. 242. Day 21: Praying for My Child's Daily Spiritual Battle

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Today Bethany is praying for a deeper and more urgent call: to pray that our children become warriors. In Ephesians 6:10-11, we’re reminded to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Our children, as followers of Christ, are engaged in a spiritual battle every day. The reality of this battle is something they must understand and walk in daily. They need to be aware of their enemy. They need to know that they are not fighting alone but are equipped with the full armor of God. As parents, we stand beside them in this battle. We hope and pray that they stand firm in the Gospel, which is their foundation and stronghold. We pray they be fully aware of their spiritual armor and confident in the victory that is already theirs through Christ. Pray for their strength, their discernment, and their faith. 241. Day 20: Praying for My Child's Purity of Thought

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Our children face constant attacks on their minds. The enemy seeks to destroy their purity of thought, steeping them in lies and deception. These lies are often difficult to discern, making it essential for us to pray for our children's mental and spiritual protection. Our children are bombarded with negative influences such as comparison, judgment, materialism, and destructive thoughts. Impure thinking can take root and lead them away from the path of righteousness. Bethany roots listeners in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 which reminds us of the power we have through God to demolish strongholds. We ask God to destroy these strongholds in our children's minds, helping them to recognize and overcome them with His strength and guidance. 238. Day 15: Praying for our Children to Walk with Tender Hearts to Others

Welcome back to the kitchen table. One of our deepest prayers is that our children walk through life with tender hearts. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15 about the importance of forgiveness. We seek God's guidance to help our children maintain a tender heart, free from bitterness and anger. Life's challenges can often leave wounds that make it easy for their hearts to harden, not just towards others, but even towards God. When our children experience wounds, we pray that they bring these hurts to God. We want to teach them that it's okay to feel pain and to question, but it's essential to walk through these emotions with God. We ask God to help our children walk with tender hearts, to embrace and extend forgiveness, and to bring their wounds to him for healing. 237. Day 14: Praying for Our Children to Walk in Peace

Welcome back to the kitchen table. In today’s episode Betahny prays for God to work in our children’s hearts and minds. We ask him to shape their character, helping them to understand how their words impact those around them. As parents, we hold a deep desire for our children to grow up walking in peace. Proverbs 15:1-2 teaches us the power of our words. We ask God to work in our children’s hearts and minds, helping them to see how their speech impacts those around them. When our children speak, we hope their words glorify God and uplift others. Encouraging our children to run their words through a Holy Spirit filter is crucial. This means teaching them to pause and consider: Are these words kind? Are they spoken in anger? We continue to pray that they understand the power of a soft answer. 236. Day 13: Praying for Our Children to Obey from the Heart

Welcome back to the kitchen table. As parents, our deepest desire is often to see our children grow into responsible, loving, and obedient individuals. We pray that God would help our children walk in his ways, calling them to obedience not out of duty, but out of a love for Jesus. When we call our children to obedience, we are inviting them to walk in the ways of God. This isn't just about following rules, it's about nurturing a heart that loves and honors Jesus. True obedience stems from this love. As Romans 6:16-18 reminds us, our lives are transformed by our relationship with Christ. We pray for the Holy Spirit to work within our children, to soften and transform their rebellious hearts into ones that seek obedience out of love for Jesus. Bethany reminds us to sit with God, to rejoice in his presence even as we pour out our hearts to him. In that space, we can find comfort knowing that he is with us every step of the way. 220. Embracing Grace in Parenting: You’re More Than Your Child’s Actions

Welcome back to the kitchen table as Bethany welcomes listeners into a series of understanding motherhood through the eyes of God. It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that our children's behavior reflects solely on our abilities as mothers. We must separate the performance of our children from our worth as mothers. As mothers, we've been chosen for our children, entrusted with the incredible responsibility of guiding them through life. Every challenge, every misstep, is an opportunity for growth and connection—not a reflection of our inadequacy. In those moments of frustration and doubt, when we feel inadequate and overwhelmed, remember that God leans in, inviting us to meet Him there. He sees our struggles and our triumphs, and He longs to walk alongside us, offering comfort, strength, and wisdom. Instead of allowing the enemy to rob us of our confidence, let us lean into God’s grace, knowing that He equips us for every season of motherhood. 210. Bedtime Routines and Blessings

Welcome back to the kitchen table. As parents, what do we do when our children grapple with fear and anxiety at bedtime? When anxious thoughts cloud their minds and disrupt their peace, it can be challenging to navigate. We've all experienced seasons where bedtime feels like a battleground, where fear and worry threaten to overshadow the bedtime routines. Bedtime struggles are not just about getting children to sleep; they are about helping them confront and conquer their fears. It's about equipping them with tools to navigate the anxious thoughts that creep in. For some parents, this battle might seem impossible to overcome, but every struggle presents an opportunity for redemption and restoration. Bethany shares her Fearless Pillowcase and how it became a tangible reminder that when we walk with Jesus, fear has no power over us. By incorporating these scriptures into their bedtime routine, we not only equip our children with the tools to combat fear but also instill within them a deep-rooted faith in God's love and provision. We teach them to pray God's words for themselves, to express their worries, fears, and concerns, knowing that God meets them in their vulnerability. As we transition from bedtime worries to bedtime blessings, let us remember the foundation of it all—our reliance on God's word. Through prayer and scripture, we invite God into our children's nighttime routines, allowing His peace to permeate every corner of their hearts and minds. 207. Taking Care of You and Your Child with Rachael Elmore

Welcome back to the kitchen table. In today’s episode, Bethany welcomes Rachael Elmore, author, speaker, and licensed therapist, for a beautiful conversation that mothers of young and old children can relate to. Motherhood marks the beginning of a transformative journey. Bethany and Rachel acknowledge the emotional intricacies of this role, emphasizing the need for understanding and navigating through these emotions. In the midst of this whirlwind, it's crucial for mothers to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being, not just for themselves but also for their children. Mental health in motherhood is a topic often overlooked, yet it is of paramount importance. The emotional rollercoaster of motherhood can sometimes lead to feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and shame. Bethany and Rachael unpack these emotions with biblical truth. Caught in the trap of perfectionism, mothers often berate themselves for perceived failures and shortcomings. The relentless cycle of "could have done it better" becomes a burden too heavy to bear. Yet, as Bethany and Rachel reminded each other of the redemption God offers.. Our mistakes do not define us; rather, it's how we respond to them that matters most. Bethany and Rachel's conversation serves as a reminder that mistakes are inevitable, but what truly matters is the commitment to repair and the recognition that, as mothers, they are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of a loving God.
