S2 Ep 32Drop It Like It's Hot: The Swaddle
Few looming transitions feel as scary to newborn parents as dropping the swaddle, so it felt like the perfect first transition to walk you guys through in my new little mini series "Drop It Like It's Hot". In this episode, I'll talk through all of it - what exactly a swaddle is (and isn't), when to consider dropping it (and why), and of course, how! Most importantly, I hope this episode gives you some encouragement as you contemplate what *feels* like a scary transition, that often times isn't as bad as you think!Below are a few of the products I mentioned in the episode, and you can find a more complete list of my newborn, baby & toddlers recs in my Amazon Storefront.Love To Dream Transitional SwaddleKyte Baby Sleep SackLoved this episode? S2 Ep 21Am I Traumatizing My Kids With Timeout?! A Research-Based Response
E"Time out is ineffective and shaming. Your child is making a bid for attention and you are isolating them and traumatizing them during their time of need."We're all heard it. We're all read and watched the reels. We've been talked down to via a TikTok influencer who wants us to "co-regulate" and have "time in". So what gives? Is time out effective? Is in harmful? Is there a middle ground? As always, lets let the research guide us! Today I'm sharing that research with you, and how I've interpreted it to help parent my own kids. I'll also give some tips for where time out should occur, if you choose to use it, to help maintain a happy association with sleep & your child's bedroom. S2 Ep 15The Trouble With Growth Charts
If you write down one single thing coming out of a doctor's apt for your baby, I bet I can guess what it is. WHERE THEY ARE ON THE GROWTH CHART. I can think of nothing that gives parents more stress, anxiety (and sometimes bragging rights) than that freakin' chart! And for the most part, you should be feeling none of these things (I know, I'm sorry. But baby Hunter being in the 95% percentile for height at his 2 month apt does not in fact mean he is destined for the NBA). So what were growth charts created to do? What do we use them for instead? And why should parents stop freaking the F out about every jump, leap and dip in their baby's chart? Luckily, I'm here to tell you. I have read the history, the studies, discussed with credible physicians, and am here to help. I hope you walk away from this episode feeling empowered about your child's health, and much less panicked about their head circumference at next week's well baby visit ;)Loved this episode? S2 Ep 6The Answer To This One Question Tells Me If You're A "Good" Parent
Bold statement, I know! But it's true! Here's the secret - it has nothing to do with whether or not you sleep train, use time out, have your babe in daycare, with a nanny, or you stay at home. It has nothing to do with the type of school you send them to, how many activities they're in, their diet, their screen time, or a host of other things we stress about as parents. All that matters? Today I'm sharing an encore of the most downloaded episode of The Snooze Button EVER - which debuted almost exactly a year ago today!Gentle Sleep Training? Cry It Out? Holy triggering Mom Facebook Group comment section, amiright?Today I'm myth busting what these words actually mean (spoiler...not much) and giving you a new framework for looking at what the different sleep guidance methods are really focused on, and the REAL way you can set your baby up for the least crying possible in this process, that has nothing to do with the method you select.

S2 Ep 3You Can't Make Someone Want To Change

I hear about it a lot from my clients, so today I want to address it head on. What do you do when your friend is exhausted and struggling badly with sleep....but for whatever reason won't seek help?! I may or may not have teared up a little bit when I was mapping out what to talk about in this episode, and I hope it leaves you feeling encouraged and excited for what's to come, regardless of how old your own kids are!Loved this episode? S1 Ep 49Let's Stop Assuming Sick Babies Sleep Terribly, Shall We?
E"What happens if he/she gets sick? We do everything differently...right?" -I'm asked some version of this question on almost a daily basis from clients and the answer is....no, not really! You probably won't have to!I'd like to shift the narrative a little bit here - why don't we assume things *won't* be a disaster if your baby or toddler gets sick? Because if they have a great sleep foundation, that's likely the case.In today's episode I'll talk a little bit about how sick babies who are great sleepers tend to differ from those who don't otherwise sleep well, and my best suggestions for handling sicknesses when you have a baby or toddler who typically sleeps like a champ. Spoiler - if your baby or toddler doesn't sleep well normally, lets fix that BEFORE then get sick! :)----------------------------------------------------------------------------Loving The Snooze Button and interested in working with me to solve your sleep issues once and for all?
