S1 Ep 13Gail Emms - Episode 13 - Badminton Olympic Medallist and World Champion
Welcome to Episode 13, where I had the pleasure of talking to Badminton Olympic Silver Medallist and World Champion Gail Emms. The way this chat came about has a small story behind it. My Dad, who's one of my biggest fans, saw that Gail Emms had been working with some sports team online and then sent her a message asking if she'd be free to come onto my podcast. After I slid into her DMs we got chatting and Gail said yes! We had a great chat on the phone beforehand and I shamelessly told her we'd met a few times previously, one at a networking event where she did a talk for female business owners and the other time at the training studio F45 where we'd both taken part in a class. In todays episode Gail takes us through her sporting career, how she used running to improve her Badminton, what running races she's done in the past including the London Marathon, what lockdown life looks like for her now and as a sports speaker and motivator, how we can all be adapting to make the most of our time and use exercise as a positive and powerful tool. I really do hope you enjoy this one as Gails energy and enthusiasm was really infectious. https://gailemms.com/ @gailemms - Twitter

S1 Ep 12Michael McKillop - Episode 12 - Irish Paralympic Champion and Cerebral Palsy Athlete
In Episode 12, I had the honour of sitting down with Michael McKillop, Irish International Runner and Paralympic Champion three times over. After discovering at a very young age that he had cerebral palsy, his parents actively encouraged him to live a full and happy life and at the age of 5 received his first pair of spikes. Sounds like he was destined to run as his Dad is a PE Teacher and also his coach. Michael has gone on to have an incredible running career and is now a very decorated athlete. He had an unbeaten streak from 2006 all the way until last year in 2019. The unique thing about Michael is that he competes as both an able-bodied athlete most of the year but also as a para-athlete. He was the first disabled athlete to represent his country at an IAAF Euro Cross Championships. His main distances are 800m and 1500m. Michael shared his journey with me where his paralympic journey started in 2005 and went on to win two silver medals at the European championships. At the age of 16 he went on to win his first title and broke the 800m World Record for the first time. In 2008 Michael went to the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. He's since had the opportunity to go to two further games and was due to be in Tokyo this year. We chat about the postponement and what that means for his future running career. You can find Michael on social media @teammckillop http://www.michaelmckillop.co.uk/

S1 Ep 9Melissa Courtney-Bryant - Episode 9 - What training is like for a GB & New Balance Athlete
I recently chatted with GB and New Balance athlete Melissa Courtney-Bryant, to chat about her incredible running journey from junior athlete to European Indoor Championship medalist. After reaching a PB at 14 she hit a plateau which she didn't manage to break until she was 19 at Brunel University. We spoke about how not qualifying for the World Championships in London spurred her on even more to train harder which led to her bronze at the European Championship in 2017. She's made a few sacrifices along the way and gambled to make it as a full time athlete. With a promising career ahead of her and Olympic Dreams she spoke about how she's going to manage her training at this time. It was an honour to have Melissa on the podcast and I thoroughly enjoyed recording this episode. Earlier this month I had the pleasure of sitting down with Paul Mizon, Bedford and County Runner to discuss his phenomenal journey and progression through the years. His journey started around a lake, running 5km as he simply didn't want to pay a joining fee at the gym. He now has run 14.40 for 5km, 67 minutes over half marathon distance and still wants to go quicker. His 'keep at it' attitude and determination has seen him progress and we talk through what else has contributed to these times.

S1 Ep 6Ana, Naomi & Sammy - Episode 6 - The Impact of Coronavirus on Race Calendars

We discuss the emotions, feelings and thought processes in the midst of it all. Hope you enjoy this bonus episode.

S1 Ep 5Mark Atkinson - Episode 5 - The 100 Marathon Club & Ultra Marathon Runner
Mark joined me to chat through his running journey, going from a guy who ran in big hoodies in the dark for 10 minutes to tackling an 145 mile race along the Grand Union Canal. He's part of the 100 marathon club, ran multiple ultras and likes to see how far he challenge and test his body. We spoke about nutrition and how to prepare for long distance races and also how we then wrote his own book documenting the various challenges he's set himself. A great chat even though he got attacked slightly by one of my cats Lily.
