We like being in control because it gives us a sense of security. Control promises to remove anxiety, offer certainty and protect us from the discomfort of unknowing. But faith requires trust and believing in something that cannot be known. If you’re looking for a big change in your life that feels impossible, you may be stuck by your own limitations. The world will try and convince you to flex, be aggressive and do whatever it takes to be on top. It says push harder, shout louder and prove your worth to get what you want because meekness is weakness. But nice guys don’t finish last and kindness will always take you further than being a bully. Jesus shows us that being meek is operating in a different kind of strength. When things go wrong, can you admit that you blame God? If it’s his job to fix things and keep bad things from happening, he’s due for a performance review. But what if the God we serve exists to do more than give us what we desire and need? What if the God of Christianity desires to be close in our losses?
