Ep 7EP7: Why taking your child on a holiday is exhausting, with Renee Reina
EEP7. After taking her son on a five day holiday to visit family at "the cottage", Renee quickly realized it wasn't a holiday at all. At least, not for her. If anything, it was much more exhausting and stressful than staying home. Even with helpful family around, if you're the primary caregiver of a child, chances are you cannot relax when you're out of your child-proofed environment. By the time her son went to bed at 7:30pm, Renee just wanted to curl into a ball in a dark room and watch Real Housewives until she fell asleep. In this episode Renee goes over why holidays or even afternoons out with a toddler are so much extra work and often not enjoyable for parents. Yes, there are enjoyable moments but, if your expectations include relaxation and an escape from everyday life, you might want to listen to this episode. Similarly, if you have people in your life who can't understand why you don't want to take your child to your Aunt's birthday party or the cottage one weekend, have them listen to this episode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To connect with Renee Reina, click HERE.Follow Renee Reina (@the.mom.room) on TikTok. Ep 5EP5: Does Anyone Else Get Irritated When Their Partner... with Renee Reina
EEP5. The exchange that lead to a blog post and now this podcast episode went something like this...It was Sunday morning and Renee was on the couch enjoying her hot coffee. After about three minutes of this enjoyable moment, her son put his bottle right in her husband's coffee mug. It fit perfectly, of course. Right away her husband looked at her and said "babe, can you go grab some paper towel?" Now, usually she would jump up, go get paper towel and help clean up. But, out of nowhere, she said "no." Her husband looked shocked and said something along the lines of "are you serious?" Renee said "Yes! Just grab some kleenex. It is right beside you!"To Renee's surprise, an overwhelming number of moms related to this exact situation. It can be frustrating when you continuously deal with difficult situations all day on your own and when your partner is home, they are asking you to help them with those same situations. Of course we want to help our partners, and they help us too. But, sometimes you just want them to feel the pain of dealing with these things alone, day after day.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To connect with Renee Reina, click HERE.To read Renee Reina's blog on this topic, click HERE.Follow Renee Reina (@the.mom.room) on TikTok.Follow Renee Reina (@the.mom.room) on Instagram. To visit The Mom Room podcast website, click HERE. Ep 3EP3: The One About Not Wanting Visitors After Bringing Home Baby, with Renee Reina
EEP3: To Renee’s surprise, she and her husband did not want visitors for weeks after bringing home their newborn son (with the exception of Renee's immediate family). After receiving hundreds of comments on her TikTok about this very topic, it became clear that there is a huge lack of communication between new parents and family & friends. In this episode, Renee questions why everyone and their damn dog visits after new parents bring home a baby. Many new parents, especially moms, feel bad saying "no" to visitor requests. This needs to change. Boundaries need to be set. Who wants visitors coming in and out of the house when you're bleeding, pumping yourself, and just want to sleep! Be a pal and share this episode with new-parents-to-be.______________________________________To connect with Renee Reina, click HERE.To read Renee's blog post on this topic, click HERE.Follow Renee Reina (@the.mom.room) on TikTok. Ep 1EP1: "Momposter" Syndrome with Renee Reina
EEP1: Renee's goal for this episode is to crush all your “momposter" feelings. “Momposter” syndrome is characterized by feelings of inadequacy with regard to being a Mom. “Momposters” suffer from chronic self-doubt, comparison to others, and they fear judgement. These feelings override any feelings of confidence, success, or real-life proof that they are a badass Mom. In this episode she talks about five things that contribute to “momposter syndrome”; social media; unsolicited advice; the one study they obsess about on every media outlet; the #blessed moms, and; comparing yourself to other parents and comparing your kids to other kids. She explains how these things eat away at us, how we should deal with them, and why they’re bullsh*t. Buckle up. She is honest and might swear a few times.____________________________________________To connect with Renee Reina, click HERE. To read Renee Reina’s blog post on momposter syndrome, click HERE.
