Guy Yachdav, project supervisor spoke about how computer algorithms predict next characters to be eliminated in 'Game of Thrones'.Computer science students at the Technical University of Munich have developed an application that scours the internet for data on the popular "Game of Thrones series," and uses an algorithm to predict which characters are most likely to survive to the end of its final season.

Astrid Treffry-Goatley, Post-doctoral Fellow at Networks of change and wellbeing at Centre for Visual Methodologies for Social Change at University of KwaZulu-Natal spoke about how storytelling can help alleviate the effects of disease.A team of researchers from the University of Kwazulu Natal working across education, medicine and health conducted a study which combines storytelling with computer and video production technology.

Moude Maodi-Swartz, paralegal officer for the OUT wellbeing at Love Not Hate Legal Clinic spoke about the new LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) legal clinic that has been opened in Hatfield. A 2016 study by the organisation found that 44% of LGBTI people surveyed said they had experienced discrimination in the previous two years, and 88% hadn’t reported these incidents.

Anaesthesiologist, Dr Bruce Biccard talks about the in-hospital maternal mortality rate following a Caesarean delivery in Africa, which may be 50 times higher than in high-income countries. These were the findings of the African Surgical Outcomes Study that followed more than 3500 mothers from 22 African countries during a week of surgery in 2016.
