This is about a recalibration of what you do and cares about and where it can be received in a valuable way. So take it as a gift that you've been given, to recalibrate to a place where you can see your personal value integrated into your professional value."Adaptability and agility are the secrets to future-proofing yourself - Ron: "A little secret for all of you who are learning skillsets today; you will be disrupted at some point. So your main skillset is not what you learn in college or in an associate's degree... That's not your main skill set. Your main skillset is adaptation and agility. You got to learn to reinvent as the changes in the world come."Get to know more about Ron:LinkedIn | The Great ConversationTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video. And for young people or even people with trauma, that is very threatening, so you don't really dare to say anything anymore. So it requires really a certain technique and empathy almost to do that.""Because I can give you, for instance, the sheet on how to do it or the questions, but some people just don't have that. They cannot make a connection with a kid or a bond so, I created a step-by-step program in where I help organizations who are in that field to interview those victims."Loyalty and hard work are the keys to success for women in EP - Miranda: "Just go after what you want. It's oftentimes hard because it's not an easy industry. So that's what you have to realize, it's a lot of training and you have to continue getting trained, get as much experience as you can. Believe in yourself. Just keep going. If it's really what you want, and especially in executive protection for ladies, there are not that many. So once you're good enough, I mean trained enough and ready for it, there's a lot of work out there. But yeah, just be honest and be loyal and just work hard."Get to know more about Miranda:LinkedIn | Website | salusops.orgTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video. And we're doing it as a thought experiment, not because we're saying that security's no longer relevant. Music is still relevant, books are still relevant under a different form, even on a Kindle, and taxis are still relevant under a different form called Uber and Lyft."Prepare for the future and save money - Ron: "You shouldn't wait till you get laid off to be putting money in the bank. Don't take that extra trip to Hawaii. Don't spend money on that 60-inch screen. Make sure you're putting 10% every day out of your pay. And if really want to buy off on the fact that everything you do impacts your world, set another contribution aside to nonprofits who are helping people."Get to know more about Ron:LinkedIn | The Great ConversationTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video. Right now we have word of technology instead of word of mouth. Back in the day, that's what it used to be. Instead, Gina suggests movement to balance activity and a sedentary lifestyle to clear out the cobwebs of negativity in your brain.Gina also shares how command and control are the norms for leaders but that there is another side to leadership, a softer side, that bridges the divide through open communication and understanding. GOLDEN NUGGETSThere is no such thing as work-life balance - Gina: "We need to cultivate our style of being who we are and stop thinking, oh, well I'm just myself with my friends and I'm a different person when I'm in work. You are just a person. You're not a professional life and a personal life, you just have a life. So why not take more ownership of that in every facet? And that's, I think, going to help you have more control of the things you can control."Command and control is just one side to leadership - Gina: "I often work with the top-level execs who have gotten where they are probably from the command and control thing. And they also have a great set of skills. But what they haven't developed is that softer, more warm side of them."Communication is a three-legged stool - Gina: "The three ways that we reach the person right now, in any communication event, are the words that we choose, the voice that we deploy, and the body language that we signal most.” Get to know more about Gina:LinkedIn | WebsiteTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video. And it's their own kid."Women in law enforcement should use their intuition - Heidi: "I think their communication and their ability to think on their feet as far as reading people and seeing what's about to happen, seeing through lies. I mean, women have that intuition, that mother's intuition or whatever you want to call it, so use it." Tune in until the end as Francisco also shares his advice for CEOs, only here in the latest episode of The Fearless Mindset Podcast.GOLDEN NUGGETSBusiness is a team sport - Francisco: “It is our belief that the business is a team sport. So you know, if I use my running experience, it will be like running a team race, and the clock doesn't start, doesn't stop ticking until the last person crosses the finish line. So you start thinking like, it doesn't do you any good to say, “hey, my finance person is the number one in the world, but my product person is number four, well, then you're number four.”The people you should surround yourself with - Francisco: “You need to have people that are proactive, that are self-starters if they are not the type of people that you have to be micromanaging, and they're intellectually curious, so they want to know how this might work, interact with the work downstream and upstream. They're good social creatures, so they're connecting within the company.” Get to know more about Francisco:LinkedIn | 5.11 Tactical | 511tactical.comTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video. Ep 140Episode 140 - COMMUNICATION BASICS: Be Intentional About Building Trust with Gina London (Part 1)
This episode of the Fearless Mindset Podcast is the first part of our conversation with Gina London, the CEO of Language of Leadership and a sought-after author, columnist, and TEDx speaker. Communication is both an art and a skill that is applicable in every single industry out there. With the pandemic, a culture of the transaction started to permeate our relationships. Gina observes that what we need to do is be intentional about making a real effort to connect again. She talks about LinkedIn and the unprecedented access it gives you to people you would otherwise never meet.Gina provides quick and actionable tips to improve the way you communicate, as well as reminds us that the core of relationships remains the same regardless of medium: trust, consistency, and the duration of your relationship.GOLDEN NUGGETSRemember the basics of communication are rooted in trust - Gina: "I think that there can be a tendency for sometimes people to jump too quickly in their relationships and to think too much in a business relationship here. And you know, you really need to go back to basics and think about the level of trust and consistency and the duration of your relationships that you're able to really have some roots and not try to grow too quickly."Care and compassion are people’s real strengths - Gina: "I think leaning into vulnerability is a real strength and I find that some of the most powerful generals that I've interviewed, or really seemingly strong physical types, like a head coach of Irish rugby for example, they're strong because they're actually quite aware of how kind they can be and how thoughtful they can be and how compassionate they can be. And that actually to me is probably one of the biggest strengths a person can have."
