“I think in interim period Israel will apply a military occupation of it and rule Gaza to make sure that Hamas is indeed defeated, that there is no pockets of resistance and terrorism and guerrilla, etc.,” Conricus, the former International spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, told The Daily Signal at the Jewish News Syndicate International Policy Summit in Jerusalem. Once Hamas and its sympathizers are completely defeated in Gaza, “Israel will move out and then it will transition,” Conricus, who is also a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said. “It has to transition to local self-governance by Palestinians, not by Hamas, and not by corrupt Palestinian authority officials, but by local, vetted, non-terror-aligned Palestinians that have local standing in Gaza and that show that their trajectory, what they value, is the present and the future and that they want to build a different Gaza.” This plan will require patience, according to the former IDF spokesman, adding, “I don't think that we have any other options.” Conricus estimates it will take about five years to see positive change in Gaza, providing a “good plan” is in place with proper funding. “To think that this is a quick fix that can be done quickly would be naïve and misleading. Since launching Liberation Day in early April, several countries, most notability South Korea and Japan, have come to the negotiating table, seeking to lessen tariffs, levied across the board, by the Trump administration. By May 7, all U.S. citizens are supposed to have their federally required “Real ID” so that they can travel by air or enter a federal building. But what about using them to register to vote to ensure they are legally present in the country and eligible to vote in our elections? The SAVE Act, introduced by Republican Texas Rep. (and University of Virginia alumnus) Chip Roy, recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives and now is awaiting action in the Senate. The SAVE Act, among other things, would require proof of citizenship for voter registration in federal elections and strengthen verification processes to ensure voter rolls only contained eligible citizen voters. Young people have rejected the "trust the science" mentality of older generations, paving the way for acceptance of the concept of "Make America Healthy Again," according to a holistic doctor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She's a neo-Confederate. She is taking states' rights to the extreme. Rather than saying, ‘I oppose the federal government. I will go to court to stop you. But if I lose, I will comply because the states are subordinate to the federal’ —she's not doing that. She's right in the spirit of the old Confederacy… “I can cite you chapter and verse from the poems of Catullus to the novels of ‘Satyricon,’ of Petronius, ‘The Satyricon,’ of men who dress up like women. Both as transvestites who are still, I guess you'd say heterosexual, but they have a fetish to wear women's clothes or that who really want to be women. In the case of a poem or two, they castrate themselves. It's found in ancient history. “And statistically, if you go back before this controversy happened, it was a very small number of the population. About less than 1% identified as transgendered or transsexual. Then it became, in the last decade, the next civil rights frontier. And all of a sudden, we had universities where students were polled at 10% or 20% or 30%, thought they might want to transition. President Donald Trump is using tariffs to apply heavy pressure on China, but the president remains open to negotiations with China, according to Tucker Carlson. “Well, of course he is,” Carlson said when asked if Trump is willing to negotiate with China. “I mean, the question is, who needs the other more? Does the U.S. need China more or China need the US? I can't answer that,” Carlson told The Daily Signal. Only hours after new tariffs went into effect on about 90 countries around the world, Trump announced a 90 day pause on the “reciprocal tariff,” but an increased tariff on goods from China. “Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, Wednesday. China and the U.S. “need each other,” Carlson said. “The deal has been for the past 30 years, we’ll buy your underpriced consumer goods, you buy our overpricing debt. And you know, in some ways that's worked great, in other ways it hasn't worked at all.” Carlson was at the White House last week when Trump stood in the rose garden and announced his plan to increase tariffs on nations around the world. Despite knowing Trump for years and the president’s interest in tariffs as a negotiation tool, the conservative news commentator and former Fox News host said he was “shocked” by Trump’s new tariffs. “I wasn't against what Trump was saying, but I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that's shocking that he said that. You can't erect trade barriers.’ ... It's like all the childhood orthodoxies were still rattling around in my head.” Carlson sits down with The Daily Signal at The Heritage Foundation’s Annual Leadership Conference to discuss Trump’s recent use of tariffs and what the results may be.
