ZipRecruiter Adds Badasses to Board of Directors
It’s The Shred for November 13, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Guys, blockchain is all the rage right now. And if you’re like most of us, the whole thing is confusing, right? Don’t worry. Chad and I have been working with Judge to give you the foremost insight into what blockchain is and what it means to recruiting. And we’ve made it easy for you. Just go to bitly.com/judgeblockchain to download this free resource. That’s bitly.com/judgeblockchain. Or you can hit up chadcheese.com today. Let’s go to the news: We talk a lot about ZipRecruiter, and for good reason. They raise a lot of money. They sponsor the world’s most popular podcast. They’re really serious about AI. And now they’ve added some top notch names to their board of directors. Check it: Blake Irving, former CEO of GoDaddy, domain name registrar, who saw the company go public is on board. Cipora Herman is also here. she may be best known for leading Facebook’s IPO as the company’s vice president of finance and treasurer. She was also CFO of football’s San Francisco 49’ers. Emilie Choi joins too. She was LinkedIn’s vice president of corporate development and was there most notably for the $1.5 billion purchase of Lynda.com. She sits on the board of Naspers, a tech investor, and is vice president of corporate and business development at Coinbase, a cryptocurrency platform that just hit an $8 billion valuation after a $300 million raise. If you’re looking for a common thread here, aside from each new board members being undeniably influential and smart, they all have some level of core competency going public and/or raising significant amounts of money. Also, folks like this who join boards like ZipRecruiter’s do so because there’s the potential for significant upside. Big moves, big money, and big brains. Would anyone be surprised to see ZipRecruiter file for an IPO in 2019? Me neither. Be sure to tune into the weekly show for deeper opinion on news you hear on The Shred. Uncommon Drops New Automated Sourcing Tool
EIt’s The Shred for November 6, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Let’s go to the news: Turns out, active candidates just aren’t enough these days. Not with the unemployment rate under 4 percent anyway. That’s probably why Palo Alto startup Uncommon has bolted on automated sourcing to its original programmatic job advertising solution. Users will start seeing an Active button on their dashboard – these are the candidates that come in via advertising – and a Passive button, which is where automatically sourced candidates will be highlighted. These candidates – 150 million resumes strong – have been obtained by a third party vendor that pulls resumes from a variety of job boards and resume depositories. Uncommon CEO Teg Grenager said, “Adoption of sourcing automation tools like Uncommon over the next few years will give recruiters a breakthrough in productivity, while at the same time allowing them to focus on the human connection with the interested and qualified candidates.” Pricing runs between $100/mo. And $400/mo. depending on usage. The company says its new tool can cut sourcing time by 75 percent. Learn more at uncommon.co … and, full disclosure, Uncommon is a sponsor of this very podcast. Be sure to tune into the weekly show for deeper opinion on news you hear on The Shred. Once again, thanks to our sponsor Judge.com. Wondering how blockchain impacts recruitment, head on over to bitly.com/judgeblockchain (no upper case letters, one word) or visit ChadCheese.com and click the Judge logo. Cheesman out.

Interview: Adam Godson of Cielo – RecTech Bad Ass
EWhen you want to talk recruitment tech you need to call upon one of the very few BAD ASS RPO tech overloads around the globe. So that’s exactly what Chad & Cheese did… Adam Godson is High Commander of Tech Solutions at Cielo – that’s what I call him – where they have 150,000 hires per year in 27 applicant tracking systems and that doesn’t even touch the cool ass tech outside of the ATS. Don’t miss the insights and tomfoolery… Sponsored by Uncommon.co – when you or your clients need ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES call the crew at Uncommon.

Kill the Middleman
EiCims pushes toward a true end-to-end Talent Acquisition platform. Chad – Welcome to another installment of Chad & Cheese iCIMS iNFLUENCE 2018 Series. In mid-Oct Joel and I flew to NJ and landed at iCIMS HQ for the iCIMS iNFLUENCE event. During the event Colin Day, iCIMS CEO and Chairman of the Board along with other iCIMS leaders shared their common vision for more than just iCIMS. For the industry and how iCIMS will lead in reinventing it. This episode is all about getting rid of the middlemen starting with job distribution…. Chad – Talent Acquisition professionals are busy, which is why TA can’t even spell programmatic at this point let alone tell you why they would use it. But what if Programmatic was built inside the ATS and became a natural part of the recruiting flow? What if the ATS partnered with Google to facilitate this process? The future is now because it’s already happening with some of the smaller ATS providers, but what about Enterprise platforms like iCIMS? Colin – We’ve got a third initiative going which is obviously they (Google) have announced the dynamic search ads, this is where the money is made. Um, so if you’re not happy with the organic traffic coming through Google you can basically buy inorganic traffic. And so we’re doing a little bit of this ourselves, we’re looking at the industry, we’re taking a look at everything going on in programmatic. I see Matt shaking the head, this is the way the industry is going. We very well may buy our way into this market, umm, rather than build there’s alot going on. But at the end of the day we do believe that customers should be able to do all their job advertising right out of our platform. Chad – Programmatic straight from the ATS sounds natural right? But what about when the candidate hits the ATS? I mean seroiusly, what is the average ejection rate of a job seeker who starts the application process? Horror stories about Candidate Experience are frequent between many Employer Brand and Talent Acquisition teams…. But wait… Colin – Another initiative we have going on because it’s not just about how quickly you get the jobs to Google and how rich is the job data you get to Google, but Google looks at the landing zone. They look at “Where am I going to send this candidate? and what is that?” and we have decided and we’re invested and we’re building it out as we speak, and we’ll probably talk about it alot while you’re here. That we’re going to meeting Google half way and we are building the next generation of candidate portal, candidate engagement management site. So just like they (Google) want to get rid of the middlemen of the job boards, there’s middlemen on the career site in our equation. So the Jibe’s, the Phenom’s, ecetera, The Muse’s. I think our viewpoint is we need to make sure we can do everything they can do. Chad – Is it time to get rid of the middle men and focus on a fluid candidate experience? Candidate engagement platforms were born out of the need to delight – GOD I hate that word – to impress, educate and grab candidate data before they ejected out of the application process in the clunky ATS. So isn’t it just natural the ATS would take over this process? Maybe, make it more fluid and not require a candidate apply twice? Sounds good right? But is it really just that easy? Well Colin and the iCIMS crew says we’re gonna find out. Chad – You can find more episode in the iCIMS iNFLUENCE 2018 Series at chadcheese.com… or better yet, never miss an episode of HR’s Most Dangerous Podcast by subscribing with iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotifiy or where ever you get your podcasts.

ZipRecruiter Launches Job Seeker Profiles
EHey ghouls and goblins, it’s The Shred for October 24, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Let’s go to the news: ZipRecruiter launched what they’re calling Job Seeker Profiles this week. In a nutshell, Profiles aims to help millions of mobile app users find a job by simplifying the resume-building process and making it easier for them to stand out to employers. Profiles allows them to fill out a summary including their skills, certifications, desired salary and career objectives. The data can be entered manually or generated automatically from an uploaded resume. Profiles also leverages Zip’s artificial intelligent to alert job seekers of missing information and suggests ways to improve content. AI looks like the name of the game at Zip. On the heels of raising $156 million at a billion dollar valuation, the company now counts 200 engineers developing their AI, including 50 working from a new Tel Aviv-based development and research center. In case you were wondering, the 8-year-old company has nearly 1,000 employees in two states and three countries. Be sure to tune into the weekly show for deeper opinion on news you hear on The Shred. Once again, thanks to our sponsor Judge.com. What Google Wants
EBeing an industry leader isn’t easy… Constantly fighting the good fight, providing for clients and job seekers while protecting your flanks and reinventing the entire recruitment industry… That’s exactly what iCIMS leadership is doing. . This is just one episode in the iCIMS iNFLUENCE 2018 Series. PODCAST TRANSCRIPTION sponsored by: Disability Solutions is your sourcing and recruiting partner for people with disabilities. This episode starts with Colin talking about what Google wants.. and what he believes is of utmost importance… Chad – So Colin what does Google want? Colin – They (Google) want no middlemen and they want single click apply. And for me that’s music to my ears, that’s absolute music to my ears. Now people will say Colin you’re stupid they came out with an ATS too, they’re a competitor of yours. Colin – Their ATS is for the G-Suite, for the SMB. We would be really nervous if we were an SMB vendor. I don’t see Google building an enterprise quality Talent Acquisition platform over the next 5-10 years. It’s too complicated, they haven’t proven they can do it so I say let them have small companies out of the G-Suite I will take that any day for them to get Google for Jobs out. Colin – Because that’s the most important thing here. Chad – Then Colin answers my question about slowing down job boards scraping and pounding iCIMS career sites, most importantly becoming the fast lane of job content for Google… Listen up.. Chad – You’re talking about slowing down other lanes. Right. So you want a fast lane to Google but you want to slow down the other lanes. What do you mean buy “slowing down the other lanes”? Are you going to hold jobs? Colin – I don’t think we’re going to hold them unfairly , we’re just not going to let them do unnatural… I mean right now they… When we look at our portal traffic and what slows down portals or whatever, well if Indeed is scraping you every 5 minutes, it slows you down. So I think we’re just going to look at SLAs and say “Guys weren’t not going to try and be unfair.” Chad – Why does Colin believe this to be important? Well, Google over the years (before Google for Jobs) had crowned Indeed the winner of the job site wars and one of the reasons Indeed was crowned revoled around getting job content to Google faster than any other platform, including the ATS. Well, that is going to stop when it comes to iCIMS and their client’s jobs. iCIMS will become the fastest lane in delivering jobs, while all others will be taken down a notch… or two… You can find more episode in the iCIMS iNFLUENCE 2018 Series at chadcheese.com… or better yet, never miss an episode of HR’s Most Dangerous Podcast by subscribing using iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotifiy or where ever you get your podcasts.

Indeed Holds Staffing Hostage
EThe Shred is brought to you by The Judge Group… The Judge Group A leader in technology and healthcare staffing providing top talent to organizations ranging from the Fortune 100 to the tech startups, across all industries. Check ’em out at Judge.com – that’s J-U-D-G-E – DOT COM or email them at [email protected] On to the NEWS.. It’s been years in the making but NOW it’s official –That’s right — Indeed is now holding ALL Staffing Companies hostage Remember all of that traffic you enjoyed Staffing Companies? Well Indeed says, that’s officially over unless you PAY! Today Indeed released their Policy for Recruitment-Based Companies and it goes a little somethin’ like this.. “>>> As of January 7th, 2019, all recruitment-based companies and accounts in the United States and Canada will be required to sponsor their jobs in order to receive visibility on Indeed. Scope: Companies and accounts affected by this policy may include, but are not limited to: > Recruiting Firms, Placement Firms, or Headhunters who search for, recruit, and place job seekers into roles at other companies, or > Staffing Agencies or Outsourcing Solutions (or business models like this), who employ job seekers directly to perform tasks, duties, and/or work that the company has been contracted to fulfill by its clients. Please note that companies or accounts may be categorized as a recruitment-based company at the sole discretion of Indeed and may be subject to this policy if so. Indeed further reserves the right to require sponsorship of jobs for any reason. Purpose: Indeed continually strives to provide the best possible job search experience for our job seekers. Indeed gives preference to content posted directly by employers, and works to provide unique, good quality job advertisements that connects job seekers directly to employers.” — This Indeed Policy was finally made official during American Staffing Association’s Staffing World 2018 event – how apropos… Pissing off staffing companies is probably NOT a good strategy especially in today’s market when staffing companies are flush with business and cash… If you’re a vendor NOT named Indeed you should be leaving that conference with a wheelbarrow full of leads, contracts or just plain cash. BUT remember… Indeed has slowly rolled this out for years, kicking off staffing companies here and there… So they must be pretty confident that STAFFING just cannot live without little ole Indeed. One staffing insider shared with me “When Indeed cut us off it took us 2 weeks to replace the traffic. Indeed is more arrogant than important.” It seems like Indeed is gambling that companies replacing their traffic will NOT be the norm rather STAFFING Companies will readily open up their wallet and shell out more cash. Well here’s a word to all of the VENDORS / INDEED COMPETITORS out there… This is your time to PROVE you can be a big part of the REPLACE INDEED SOLUTION – The question is… does your product have what it takes? — For everyone who wants to check out this policy just perform the Google search “indeed Policy Recruitment-Based Companies” and then share with your friends… Big thanks to Judge for supporting The Shred – Go to ChadCheese.com scroll down to the Judge logo and download their newest paper “Blockchain the Future of Trust”

CareerBuilder Revamps Mobile App
EHey kids, it’s The Shred for September 12, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Whether you’re moving your systems to the cloud, building out a team for your next project, finding healthcare talent for your organization, filling that mission critical direct hire to lead your team, or training your employees on the latest technology, Judge.com can deliver to ensure your organization’s long-term growth. To the news: CareerBuilder has revamped its mobile app for devices like the iPhone and iPad – not yet, Android users, sorry. The new app makes a big bet on augmented reality. This is where you use your phone’s camera, point it down a busy street and see virtual Help Wanted signs on the buildings you see. From there you can apply online. In a release, the company called this a “major industry disruption,” but augmented reality has yet to take hold. Aside from Pokemon Go, AR as it’s called has been kind of a dud. Some listeners will remember an app called Job Compass that used a lot of this kind of tech, but it never really caught on. Maybe this time it’s different for CareerBuilder. Or, maybe it’s not. In the month’s ahead, CareerBuilder says it will be adding gamification elements to the mobile app, enabling users to earn points and badges for usage. Matt Ferguson OUT as CareerBuilder CEO
EHey kids, it’s The Shred for September 4, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Whether you’re moving your systems to the cloud, building out a team for your next project, finding healthcare talent for your organization, filling that mission critical direct hire to lead your team, or training your employees on the latest technology, Judge.com can deliver to ensure your organization’s long-term growth. To the news: Well, it finally happened. After being acquired a little over a year ago by Apollo, CareerBuilder has a new CEO today. After a 14 year reign, Matt Ferguson is being replaced by Irina Novoselsky, who was previously the company’s president and COO. Ferguson is now executive chairman. The new CEO has a history with Apollo, having served with one of their portfolio companies. In an email to employees, Ferguson made a lengthy statement, but the highlight for me is as follows: “It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to work with everyone who’s been part of our CareerBuilder team. I am so proud of the things we’ve accomplished together – far too many to recount in one email. Our work has changed an industry. Today, we are poised to do it again. You have the grit, passion and talent that a transformation like this needs – that the company needs.” Poised to do it again? Go look at the reviews on Glassdoor, Indeed and others. Look at how many execs and employees are gone. The culture is shot. You’re in a game that now includes Microsoft, Google and Facebook. The only thing I see that Careerbiulder is poised to do is sell off this company to the highest bidder. Ferguson leaving is textbook stuff for private equity firms who cut companies to the bone in the name of profits, not embrace innovation. Time will tell, but just as I predicted Ferguson’s exit months ago, I’ll go ahead and predict CareerBuilder will have a new owner a year from now. Breaking App News — that’s right app news — from Chad & Cheese Global HQ QUESTION: Who is going to Vegas in September? ANSWER: A shit ton of HRtech vendors that’s who… but why? Well over a 4 day period – Sept 10-14 – there are at least 5 different HR tech-like events scheduled… and probably even more that I don’t even know about. What are these events you speak of Chad: » Sep 10-11 – Collaboration Zone – 1:1 meetups w/ current & potential partners, peer-to-peer roundtable discussions on hot topics » Sep 10-11 – HR Marketing Matters – by HRMI: HR Marketing Institute » Sep 10-11 – InfluenceHR – by The Starr Conspiracy » Sep 11-13 – HR Technology Expo » Sep 11-13 – SuccessConnect – by SAP SuccessFactors With all of the hustle and bustle of Vegas combined with all of these shows, vendors and HR professionals how in the HELL am I supposed to plan meetings? Where do we meet? Who will be in town? What events will they be attending? First and foremost…. BREATHE, you need to relax ANSWER: There’s a new app for that it’s called HRtech Collaboration Zone… Holy shit that’s long… HRtech Collaboration Zone is FREE and allows users to browse or should I say swipe through profiles of people in town who could be at any event — Swipe left to SKIP a contact or right to request to SCHEDULE a meeting with that person. But wait a minue – scheduling a meeting in Vegas can be a pain in the ass, mainly because I don’t know WHERE to meet? No matter what event you’re attending you can use the App – it has a ton of meet-up spots – so no matter where you are you can find something close. Last but not least, I downloaded the app just to make sure it didn’t suck… And…. It really doesn’t suck – actually, it’s kind cool. So if you’re going to be in Vegas in September go to Google Play Store or Apple App Store NOW and download the HRtech Collaboration Zone app. Chad & Cheese will be there so look us up – you bring the beer! Amazon Unleashes Tweeting Worker Zombies
EFor most podcasters and bloggers, the weeks leading up to the HR Tech Conference are akin to a bucket o’ crickets. Not much to say. But Chad & Cheese aren’t slowing down. This week, Google embraces military veterans (and Google’s minions cheer!), Recruitology loves your local newspaper and Amazon has apparently unleashed an army of tweeting zombies declaring loyalty and love to the company’s warehouse jobs. Get ya’ popcorn and visit our sponsors: Sovren, JobAdX and America’s Job Exchange.

Google Upgrades Job Search
EIt’s The Shred – a mini-Chad and Cheese bite of Breaking News — This is Chad Sowash The Shred is brought to you by The Judge Group… Judge has over 48 years of experience and success in recruiting all kinds of talent – say you need IT or maybe even Healthcare talent. Well it sounds like you need to visit Judge.com and tell them Chad & Cheese sent you. On to the NEWS.. Google launches job search for transitioning military veterans For any enterprise company, job board, or staffing agency already using Google’s Cloud Talent Solution, SURPRISE this feature is live on your site right now. Transitioning service personnel can enter their U.S. military occupational code into the job search bar and receive targeted job search results. That’s right, not a different search bar, no special handshakes necessary it’s LIVE! What does a Google Talent Solution client have to do to make this search available? In the words of Google’s GTM man Tarquin Clark – “The answer is nothing. It just works!” Now THAT is exactly how an API should roll… Giving military veterans better job search is pretty awesome. After 20 years in the military myself and attempts to solve this exact puzzle, I’m happy to see Google in the game. But there is a bigger scheme here. Remember Job Search isn’t the only BIG API Google Talent Solution is swinging around. Imagine Google Talent Solution’s candidate search matching veteran profiles to reqs. Could that ability pop-up into Hire by Google anytime soon? Not too mention this new capability was launched without Google clients needing to lift a finger. No bullshit updates or launch schedule, “it just works”… Last but never least Google for Jobs now ALSO has this military veteran search capability… We keep hearing the Talent Solution APIs and Search initiatives are not under the same umbrella, but it kinda feels like they are… If you’re intrigued as much as I am don’t miss this week’s Chad and Cheese podcast dropping Friday – We’ll be talking in depth on all of these Googley points and more! BING Goes Google for Jobs
Is BING taking a page out of the Google’s Job Search playbook? KRT Marketing provided Chad & Cheese a screen shot of a Google for Jobs style Search Engine Results Page on BING, and get this… Jobs are solely powered by LinkedIn… What? Yea, it looks for now that only LinkedIn jobs will be playing in this BING for Jobs sandbox kids. What kind of impact will this have? Bing has approximately 1.2 billion unique global visitors/month Based on research KRT provided us here at Chad & Cheese Global HQ, during the last 12 months in the US, Google has 86% market share and Bing is at 7.5%. Globally, Google is at 90% and Bing takes 3%… The big question, what if all search engines start providing job search? How will that impact the way we advertise, or as a vendor serve our clients? To understand more about Google for Jobs and this scenario check out the Recorded webinar on chadcheese.com entitled Google for Jobs – What you need to know… Pulled together by our friends at ukRecruiter – Gotta love a little Chad and Louise joint on camera, with a drive-by Stephen O’Donnell. Thanks to Mona Tawakali – TA-WA-KALI high priestess of recruiting over at KRT for the screenshot and search intel. Mona. you. are. the. bomb! IMPORTANT NOTE: I was not able to personally recreate Mona’s magic on BING, which means the model is probably in beta. No worries, Chad & Cheese will continue watching this space and encourage all of our listeners to do the same – we’re better together. Interview: Dan Sirk, CMO @ Kununu
EEmployment branding is a hot trend. While most think of Glassdoor or Indeed when the topic of anonymous employee reviews comes up, there’s an entire universe of platforms hoping to help employers improve their reputation, both nationally and globally. European-based kununu is one such offering, and we sat down with CMO Dan Sirk at a recent SHRM conference to learn more about the growing landscape.

Indeed Gives Google for Jobs a Big FU
EMoney keeps flowing. Perkspot, ClearCompany and iCIMS all rang the cash register this week. Upwork went full-on Enterprise. Indeed’s parent company says they have the numbers to make Google for Jobs nervous and Smashfly introduces us to Emerson. Big fun! Visit our sponsors, because, money … Sovren, JobAdX and America’s Job Exchange rock tha hizzy (do kids still say hizzy?).

iCIMS Goes Cha-Ching!
EHey kids, it’s The Shred for August 18, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Whether you’re moving your systems to the cloud, building out a team for your next project, finding healthcare talent for your organization, filling that mission critical direct hire to lead your team, or training your employees on the latest technology, Judge.com can deliver to ensure your organization’s long-term growth. To the news: More money is flowing into the recruiting technology space. Popular ATS iCIMS announced a new round of private equity funding this week. Terms were undisclosed, but it’s safe to say this wasn’t chump change. iCIMS has raised about $92 million prior to this round, so I’m guessing the stake was in the tens of millions ballpark. By the way, if you haven’t heard our interview with iCIMS CEO Colin Day, I encourage you to do so. Dude’s very transparent and pull no punches. CareerBuilder has a new SVP of staffing and recruiting group, Andrew Streiter. Loyal listeners might remember president Kyle Braun exited CareerBuilder earlier this summer, so maybe this fills that void. Streiter joined CareerBuilder in 2005 as an account executive in New York and has held key leadership roles in sales ever since. Lastly, BirddogHR, an ATS primarily for the construction business raised some money. They didn’t disclose how much, and I don’t know much about the company, but it seemed worthy of a mention, so, there you go. BirddogHR for the win. Firing Squad: ZAPinfo (Formerly WebClipDrop)
EThe guy behind Techies.com and Jobs2Web has a startup called ZAPinfo hoping to disrupt the sourcing scene. What do Chad & Cheese think? Gotta listen to this Talroo exclusive.

PerkSpot, ClearCompany Makin’ It Rain
EHey kids, it’s The Shred for August 14, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Whether you’re moving your systems to the cloud, building out a team for your next project, finding healthcare talent for your organization, filling that mission critical direct hire to lead your team, or training your employees on the latest technology, Judge.com can deliver to ensure your organization’s long-term growth. To the news: Money is flowing. Last week, Chicago-based PerkSpot raised $50 million. It’s the first time the company has raised money since being founded in 2006 as a home-based business. The company works with merchants to offer freebies and discounts to companies and their employees. The warm-and-fuzzy space is hot right now. Millennials are almost at a point where they expect perks from employers. And with competitors like Fond, Bonusly and Corporate Perks duking it out for marketshare, I suspect more money and startups in the months and years to come. Also making it rain, Boston-based ClearCompany announced a $60 million round of funding today – also its first raise since launching over a decade ago. The company says it’s “the leading recruiting and talent management software solution that helps companies identify, hire and engage more A Players.” Stop me if you’ve heard that one before. Andre Lavoie, CEO and Co-Founder of ClearCompany said the investment will “allow us to continue to hire the best people and maintain our position as the industry growth leader and innovator in talent software.” Be sure to tune into the weekly show for deeper opinion on news you hear on The Shred. Google Feeds, Dice Bleeds & CareerBuilder Shrinks
EIt was another busy week. Rumors have Google adding searches to an unusual place, Dice reports earnings and CareerBuilder is abandoning its post downtown Chicago digs for a much smaller one. Enjoy, and support our awesome sponsors, America’s Job Exchange, Sovren and JobAdX.

Dice Reports, CareerBuilder Downsizes
EHey kids, it’s The Shred for Aug. 8, 2018, brought to you by Judge.com. Whether you’re moving your systems to the cloud, building out a team for your next project, finding healthcare talent for your organization, filling that mission critical direct hire to lead your team, or training your employees on the latest technology, Judge.com can deliver to ensure your organization’s long-term growth. To the news: DHI Group, the parent company for Dice, ClearanceJobs and eFinancialCareers reported earnings from Q2 last week. Earnings per share of 5 cents were in line with estimates, but revenue of $39.7 million, a 2.3 percent decrease from last year, missed by $570,000. Notably, Dice earnings of $23.5 million were an 8 percent decline year-over-year. New CEO Art Zeile noted a need to retain clients as well as doing a better job of keeping up with technology to remedy the company’s woes. In the earnings call, he was optimistic, saying “Although competitive pressures are high, market conditions support a business model based on a specialized offering for technology professionals, which plays to our strengths. We are moving aggressively to streamline our business in order to capitalize on this opportunity. We are also carefully managing our profitability and have a strong balance sheet. We are confident that the combination of these factors will enable DHI to deliver superior value to its shareholders over the long term.” In rebranding news, WebClipDrop, founded by Doug Berg, the guy who brought you Techies.com and Jobs2Web, is now ZAPinfo. Berg says the new name better reflects the product and helps solve the problem of prospects for getting WebDropClip … or is that DropClipWeb … you get the idea. The company also raised $1.25 million in a seed round that was a mix of institutional money and angels. Lastly, Crain’s Chicago is reporting CareerBuilder headquarters is downsizing, moving the company out of its 162,000 square foot downtown digs for a 100,000 square foot space west of the city. Ahh, CareerBuilder, the gift that keeps on giving. Once again, thanks to our sponsor Judge.com.
